First time coming her for Sunday Brunch. Music was great. Our waitress was good, very attentive. The drinks were strong. The food was just okay. The skirt steak was very dry and tough. Here is the main issue. It says on the website, sing along brunch 12-6. What it doesn't say is that the DJ doesn't start until 1:00. I would not have made the reservation for 12:15 if we knew the DJ starts at 1:00. Online it states a 2 hour max for seating which is understandable. That 2 hours should start once the drinks and food get to the table. You cannot take your time eating and drinking at this restaurant, The minute 2 people in our party finished eating the staff immediately appeared with to go boxes. The others didn't even finish their food at that point. Before we could even order more drinks, the waitress put the bill on the table. I asked the waitress about the 2 hour max seating that the website states and she said, No! it's 90 minutes. They add gratuity which is fine, I added extra once we were ready to pay. The way they rushed us made no sense. The table next to us had a big party and they were not being rushed at all. They were able to order 2nd and 3rd drinks with no problem. I could understand if the restaurant was packed and people were lined up at the door waiting to sit down, this was not the case. I go out to have a good time and feel welcomed for a sing along brunch, not stressed and being made to feel like we to have to choke our food down. $239.00 later and our first-time experience of this place wasn't great. Delicious and creative dishes with solid portions and a fun vibe! Our service was great and the restaurant was packed for dinner service. We had reservations for 8:30pm and the party was just getting started, with the space essentially turning into a lounge with a DJ. Highly recommend trying their amazing dishes! Yelp Review: I recently visited for Sunday brunch and had a fantastic time! The atmosphere was lively and unique, especially with the fun fake microphones they provide for singing--such a great vibe! We started with the steak empanada, which was decent, but the cilantro sauce really stole the show. The calamari as an appetizer didn't impress me much--I'd recommend it with marinara sauce instead. My husband enjoyed the chicken, and the plantains were delicious! I definitely plan to return, perhaps for a friend's birthday or to catch a game with some drinks. I've been to Mojo a couple of times and it's definitely one of my family's favorite spots. Tonight I went later in the evening to catch up with a friend over drinks and appetizers. We ordered the tropical avocado salad and the Chipotle fried chicken sliders. The salad was okay, but probably would have been better with a protein added. The sliders were a little better, but nothing I would rush to get again. My family's favorite is the churrasco and that dish is always a hit. If you go, definitely get that. I ordered a coconut margarita tonight and it was amazing. Service was a bit slow when we arrived. It took around ten minutes for a waiter to come by and check on us, which wasn't ideal. I was able to walk in without a reservation and be seated for brunch on a Saturday without issues. This was great. The staff were very fast and friendly. I tried the tres Golpes which were very appetizing and filling. My mom tried the maduros waffles and wings. The waffle was okay. Great concept but just okay. It was a Tuesday and the Dinner Menu is "Prix- Fixed" at $55.00 a person for parties of 6 or more. The appetizers are served family style, so everyone at the table were able to share. The main course selection variety is extensive, lots of entrees to choose from. Most of my party ordered the Churrasco grilled steak, the others ordered the Salmon al Ajilllo and one had the Chicken Latino Fried Rice. Our friend who enjoys Caribbean fusion enthuastically wanted to try this place from word of mouth. Five out of a reservation party of six could not sit despite explaining to staff that one in our party (the enthusiast) has a disability. There was not enough room for anyone to wait st the bar. Our server was super professional asking whether anyone has a food allergy. They asked twice whether this was a special occasion so that a staff member could take pictures. A few years back, I read great things about this restaurant in Newsday and saw plenty of solid reviews on Yelp. So this Labor Day, I was excited to finally try it out. The fried calamari soft and cold like a witch's tit, with the breading falling off and the squid chewy--like biting into a bad memory. I ordered the chicken chimichurri, which came with black beans, rice, and maduros. The chicken breast was small but tender; still, it had almost no flavor. Just a tiny strip of sauce on top. The beans were equally bland, and I ended up reaching for hot sauce just to give the plate some life. The drinks were weak. Ug this place was disappointing. There were 3 of us eating. Should have realized it was the wrong spot with a rude host. We didn't have an appointment but they needed my name and number. The place was maybe a 1/4 full. We were seated right away. We each ordered an alcoholic drink. The wine my friend ordered tasted bad. Food came out pretty quick. The guac did not taste good. The calamari was really thick and came with a 1oz container of sauce. Just not enough sauc for the amount of calamari. Some pieces were crunchy and others not so much. They charged $30+ for paella but the plate wasn't all that big. It tasted bland. Like nothing special. Oddly, our favorite thing was the vegan ceviche. I did enjoy the decor of the place. Not really a fan of all the fake plants. I really disliked the loud music. We were sitting in front of each other trying to talk but ended up just yelling at each other. Also, I didn't like that the only entrance and exit was through the back or parking lot side. The door towards the street was for an emergency exit only. The staff was ok. Doing the bare minimum. No one checked if we needed anything else. If we needed another drink....staff was good about clearing plates and stuff though. Had to flag down one of the bus boys to get a refill for the tartar sauce of the calamari. I asked for the check and it was surprisingly higher than expected. They charged us $2 for more tartar sauce. They did credit us for the bad wine. They decided to include a 18% gratuity tip for themselves. Then when they charged my card the machine asked if I wanted to tip more lol. For the 3 of us everything came to about $180. I came here with my sister. First thing that caught my rye is the decor. It's so pretty inside. As I walked in, I was greeted by a friendly hostess and the lively sounds of the DJ. Just be ready if you go for Sunday brunch to have a reservation. Be right on time, you're on the 90 min clock. If you're there early forget about relaxing, they don't even have more than 3 barstools & they don't ask you if you'd mind waiting or like a drink at the bar. Because we were told to be there at 12 & our res was 1230 & our party didn't arrive until almost 1pm, we just stood against a wall against a tv for 50 min. Solid spot for a birthday dinner! We were a group of 8 so it required a special event contract. Deposit + information for the pre-fixe menu. They even wrote a birthday message for the birthday boy on the menu we received! The hostess at this location could be a little nicer. Our entire party showed up right on time and they kept saying one minute over and over, then they flat out ignored my presence until another hostess finally seated us. The other hostess would not even look our way. Our table was comfy. The decor is funky and fun. The bar area is small but gets the job done for after dinner cocktails. The drinks here are strong and full of sugar. Not a big fan of overly sweet drinks, however, the delicious food made up for it. The apps were all very good and the ropa vieja for my entree was some of the best I've ever had. Dessert was churros (can't go wrong with those!). Our waitress (Irene) was exceptional. She checked on us just enough without being overwhelming. Always made sure our glasses were full and the food was delicious. We sat at the bar once we had to give up our table. Stopped by Mojo RVC on Monday for their all day happy hour which included half off app (at the bar). The restaurant has a nice ambiance definitely somewhere you hang out with your friends or take someone on a date. What we drank: The white sangria. Definitely a refreshing drink with good flavor. 4/5 The Rosa Azul: this frozen drink is a mix between a Froze and Blue Hawaiian. Wasn't a huge fan of the drink. I personally prefer a strong drink and this wasn't it. 3/5 What we ate: The Corn Rib: great flavor, highly recommended. 4/5 The chicken tacos: traditional with the corn tortillas and the chicken was well seasoned. 4/5 The steak empanadas: nice crispy shell. Paired the steak with mozzarella cheese. 4/5 Chicken quesadillas: a classic dish That didn't disappoint. 4/5 Overall the service was good the bartender wasn't overly attentive but it didn't take away from the experience. The hostess was rude beyond belief, the bartender has no sense of urgency & the food runners will debate with you rather than assist. Our food was wrong, we asked if it could be fixed & he felt entitled enough to argue with us & blame the server. Every single person in there gets 1 star. Be mindful they have an Espresso martini machine, yes I said it right. They do not make it fresh. The bartender will spend more time fixing the machine as opposed to making a fresh one. All i have to show for my experience here is the picture of sangria. When 1st entering this establishment they have a sign showing all the deals for the week. I came on a Thursday so I saw you order a app. Get a free drink or you get 2 for 1. I headed towards the bar since it was still happy hour and I was waiting for my party. I asked bartender what are HH deals she barely knew any info. I asked her the prices she stated $7,$8,$9. I also asked about the 2 for 1 deal in which she stated we had to work in healthcare or a teacher. After ordering a sangria and froze(A FROZEN DRINK) see HHs deals in pic i then asked for the bill. Once i seen the bill i knew something was wrong. The bartender charged us $13 for froze and $11 for Sangria and also added $11 gratuity AT THE BAR DURING HAPPY HOUR. I then asked her why is she charging full price for drinks if its HH. She then goes oh I gave you the bogo deal. (THE SAME DEAL SHE STATED WE HAD TO BE IN HEALTHCARE OR A TEACHER FOR) . I asked her why? Because in the beginning she said we couldnt get it and further more its HH and the drink prices should reflect that. They also stated that the froze which is FROZEN is not apart of frozen drinks VERY ODD. Once i explained my grievances she went to her manager and he came over and told us that he credited my account(which the next day i saw he didnt) . I will say that once seated Tess the waitress was a blessing very polite, knowledgeable and attentive. I WILL NEVER RETURN TO THIS ESTABLISHMENT. Not worth it one bit. The guacamole has NO flavor. Calamari no flavor. Basically the food has no flavor. Also i do not know the bartenders name but you will definitely know who i am talking about because she knows absolutely NOTHING. Outstanding So the entrance is in the rear but this was the only speed bump we hit. Fantastic decor and a unique selection of napkins contrasting on the white table cloth. Our server Irene was so helpful We started with Steak Empanadas. They were unique if you think of a traditional empanadas then dusted and deep fried. They were larger and an excellent appetizer. I went Churrasco for the main course and was super impressed with it all. The chimichurri was solid and subtle enough to not overpower the taste of the steak. The service here is ok. The staff are friendly. I disclosed a seafood allergy. They said to stay away from all the fried food options because it's fried in the same oil. That negated half the menu. They also would not make alterations because of it. I couldn't get the maduros that came with my meal and they wouldn't swap it out for plain mix veg. I ordered the skirt steak but the sides were small portions. 18% gratuity is included for all party sizes even a party of two. I wouldn't return.
