Unfortunately, things did not improve once we were finally seated. I was there celebrating my birthday, and I noticed another table with a better view that was being cleaned. I approached the manager, Dave, simply to ask if it would be possible for us to move to that table. Instead of politely answering my question, Dave told me to go wait by the host stand until he had completed the four other tasks he already had going on. I completely understand that managers are busy and often have multiple things happening at once. My issue was not that he couldn't help me immediately--it was the dismissive and unnecessarily rude tone he used when speaking to me. He spoke to me that way in front of another customer and all five of my friends, which was embarrassing, especially considering I was simply trying to ask a question. There are many professional ways to tell a guest, "Give me a few minutes and I'll be happy to help you." The way the situation was handled was unnecessary. Working in hospitality can absolutely be stressful, but being under pressure should not result in guests being spoken to disrespectfully--especially by a manager who is setting the standard for the rest of the staff. I do want to recognize our server, Nick, because he was the positive part of our experience. He was kind, respectful, and attentive. We could tell he was extremely busy, but he still made an effort to stay on top of things and take care of us. His professionalism was genuinely appreciated. We understand that restaurants get busy, but this went beyond simply being busy. If reservations are accepted, they should be honored--or at the very least, guests should receive proper communication and an effort to make things right. We came to celebrate my birthday and were genuinely looking forward to having a great experience. Unfortunately, between waiting over an hour, watching other parties get seated before us, having our reserved table given away, repeatedly having to ask for assistance, and ultimately being spoken to disrespectfully by the manager, the entire experience was extremely disappointing. The hostess lets them know we are there and someone comes out to take us back to the red door in the middle of the restaurant down a hall of colored barrels. Typically that is the only place you are allowed to take a photo before you hand over your phone. Back to the service. The bartender was AMAZING. She was so friendly and just amazing. Our waitress was great too, they were both helping us out. I wish I got the bartenders name, she was such a ray of sunshine and sparkle.
