So our daughter found this awesome little gem the LSXO Restaurant and she took us out for one of the best dining experiences I've had. We started out by ordering cocktails. Unfortunately I don't remember the name of the drinks except for the Lychee Martini of course . Lol then we ordered the food. We ordered the pork chop, which was phenomenal and the dumplings too, and OMG this was the best dining experience I've ever had. The dumplings were so light and the sauce and broth definitely made this dish amazing! We also had the shaking beef and I have to say Nathan (the chef) really knows how to cook!! LSXO in HB at Pacific City is the "Little Sister Extra Ordinary" concept tucked inside Bluegold, the upscale seafood restaurant with an ocean view. It's a small, intimate setup with only about seven tables, so it almost feels like you've discovered a hidden restaurant inside another one. There's also a small service bar inside, which adds to the vibe. My wife ordered the Jade Pendant cocktail and loved it -- really refreshing and well balanced. The menu is new and you can tell they're trying some fresh ideas with bold flavors and really good sauces. We ordered the Imperial rolls, the shaky, shaky beef, and the lemongrass chicken. The shaky shaky beef was a highlight. It came highly recommended by the waiter as their number one dish, and it didn't disappoint. The beef was tender, sauced well, and very delicious. The side rice with the Beef was also excellent -- it had a slight tomato tang to it, but not an overpowering at all. Everything tasted very fresh and well made. What a unique vibe and experience here. We walked around for a bit trying to find the speakeasy, but it turns out it's inside the Bluegold restaurant through a side door. We had a reservation and couldn't be accommodated for early entry, which made sense once we arrived since the space is very small (only about 6-7 tables). The ambiance is really nice, dark, intimate, and a great place to grab a few drinks and just chill. Service was very friendly, and the small talk made us feel comfortable and welcomed. Now for the food, as a Vietnamese person, I tend to be pretty critical when it comes to Vietnamese cuisine. This felt more Americanized and tailored to a broader audience. It's elevated, but for my palate, it was just decent. Autumn Roll - Had to try this since I'd never heard of something like this in a spring roll before. It was okay, but nothing memorable, especially for $18. (3/5) Garlic Noodles - Tasted good at first, but quickly became very salty. After a few bites, the flavor started to feel overpowering and fell a bit flat. Decent, but still just simple. (3/5) Shaky Shaky Beef - Essentially an elevated Bò Lúc Lắc. Was it good? Yes. But I've had better at a fraction of the price. That said, it was the best dish we ordered. The beef was good quality and seasoned properly, just pricey at $42. (4/5) Overall, I'd say come for the vibes and experience rather than authentic Vietnamese food. Personally, "elevated Vietnamese" feels a bit strange to me since I'm used to clean, simple flavors rather than something more heavy or overpowering. It's good, but very expensive. I came here with a party of 5 and the restaurant is essentially the same as Little Sister, which I have gone to many times. What sets this place above the little sister restaurants is the high level of service and speakeasy and intimate vibe. I would prefer this location over all of the others. We were able to try 7 items on the menu and everything was delicious! The cocktails were also very well balanced and refreshing. I would definitely return! If you have a hard time finding it, it is located inside a larger restaurant but they shared that LSXO will take over that entire space soon which hopefully means it will be easier to get reservations! read more

The space is tucked away in the back corner of the Bluegold restaurant, which made this feel all the more exclusive. Oh wow, we had such a great experience here last night to celebrate Mother's Day weekend. My husband and I never get adventurous food when the kids are with us, so we were really looking forward to this and it did not disappoint. The service we got from Anthony & Jasmine was impeccable and they were genuinely happy to be there and talk with us. The food was fantastic. Starting with the Chicken & shitake dumplings- I was immediately transported to the realms of heaven and it was an flavor journey I won't forget. I got so full on everything, I could only manage a bite of the beef dish, but they were all so very good and I'm happy I have some leftovers now. The drinks were great. I was really wanting a tequila cocktail, (which they no longer had on the menu) but Anthony was able to make me the Jade pendant with tequila instead and it was so good. My husband had the Hattori Hanzo and was raving about how good it was. We both had our own Bye Felicia cocktails as a nightcap (take on classic penicillin). We died happy at that point. Hidden annex (speakeasy-like) inside Bluegold. There's only 6 tables for 4 inside so definitely requires reservation and not suitable for big parties. Prior to coming here, I didn't realize how similar it was to Little Sister.. and then we also overhead one of the servers say to another table that LSXO stands for "Little Sister ExtraOrdinary." We kind of splurged with our order and had a ton leftover that we took home. He got a Last Sumurai (without egg white) and I got a Jade Pendant (without alcohol). We also got the octopus salad, crispy prawn, eggplant basil, salt & pepper lobster with curry seafood fried rice, & fig and orange bread pudding for dessert. The drinks were really delicious, and the flavors of each dish were good.. BUT, everything was just SO flavorful and wayy too salty for our palette. Like, I-need-white-rice-to-eat-with-this-fried-rice salty. Also, almost every dish came with cilantro.. the salad we had was pretty much cilantro salad with octopus. Also wish LSXO had their own dessert menu, and not just serve whatever was on Bluegold's. There was only one Asian dessert on there (Vietnamese coffee tart), and everything else was not Southeast Asian whatsoever. The bread pudding we got was just okay, definitely didn't really complement the rest of the dinner. To be honest, I didn't know what to expect here because there is such good authentic Vietnamese food in the garden grove area. However, I was very pleasantly surprised. And despite this place being a more expensive/upscale Vietnamese place, the food was incredibly delicious and authentic tasting!! Where do I begin. Of course we understand that there is a 120 minutes time limit for dinner. However, our food itself came out so late that we were full after the appetizer. The noodle and shaky beef came out so late, and was prepared with too much salt. The beef was also very dry and overcooked. They then asked us if we wanted dessert, which we ordered one along with a decaf coffee. Minutes after the dessert and coffee came out, we were told that there was another party so we needed to leave. The coffee was piping hot so we couldn't even drink it and the dessert was barely bitten into. We asked for a to go cup at least the very least, but the waitress proceeded to give us two PLASTIC cups, which we declined. We promptly gave our credit cards, but while we were waiting for them to be charged, Anthony came to us and abruptly/loudly told us we needed to be done because the other party was there. We told him that we were waiting for our card and instead of apologizing for his rudeness, he just walked away. The quality of both the food and the service has greatly diminished which is very unfortunate. The cherry on top was that when we exited, no one was even waiting outside nor in the front restaurant's waiting area. The waiters should POLITELY give 10-20 minute warnings and should not even bother giving a dessert menu if time is that limited. Veggies should definitely look elsewhere for a meal. The food was consistent, but overly so: I wish there had been some more variety of produce accompanying the plates and varying textures. The flavors all seemed to blend into each other such that none of the plates stood out. But the lemongrass satay side sauce was fantastic. I wish I could have taken a gallon of it home. However I really relied on it to keep the plates interesting. We had the autumn roll which came with some very tasty peanuts that added great texture. The pan fried eggplant, xoi sticky rice, bun tom thit nuong noodles- all sans pork, were all satisfactory. I had high hopes for this place with the good reviews and nice photos but unfortunately was very disappointed with my experience here. This place is pretty hard to find since it's located in the back of Bluegold which is next to Equinox on the 2nd floor of the plaza. The venue itself is super tiny with few tables and few bar seating so all we could get were bar seats upon walk in. The bar seats were also super short and uncomfortable so the table was down at where our knees were so I was worried I would spill and drop food and drinks all over the place. We decided to order the garlic noodles and shaky shaky beef. The type of noodle they used for the garlic noodle was too thin and the flavor was off so I really didn't enjoy this dish much. The shaky shaky beef was tender and the sauce was good. Definitely a bit Americanized but that's as expected. The rice on the side was very good, savory, sweet, and citrusy. * Chicken & Shiitake Dumplings 5/5 - Juicy dumplings with a blend of unique flavors. They were perfectly paired with the chili sauce. I was craving Bo Tai Chanh, so I went on Yelp to see who might have it--and LSXO came up with amazing reviews. The place only has about 6 tables, so I figured there'd be a wait, but I didn't care. I called at 2pm and got a table for 7pm on a Monday. All day, I was excited. When I arrived, the hostess was super friendly and seated us right away. The vibe? Nice low lighting, an amazing view of the ocean (BIG plus), and loud rap music (I actually loved that--another A+). They didn't have Bo Tai Chanh on the menu, but I was open to trying other things. I ordered the Shaky Beef, Banh Mi, signature cocktail, and garlic noodles. And when I saw they were a Michelin restaurant, I was pumped--thought I was in for something special. Here's the reality: The Banh Mi? Looked amazing, but tasted flat. Honestly, I've had better at Yummy for $6. This one had no flavor--it was all show and no soul. The Shaky Beef? Just salty soy sauce--no garlic, no seasoning depth, just bland. The Garlic Noodles? Meh. No protein, just plain noodles. It's a cozy space, almost like a library, with ceiling to floor windows and views of the ocean. Portions are generous and our server said we may have ordered too many items but there are many interesting combinations on the menu. For appetizers, we loved them all and could easily stay in this area of the menu. The dumplings, bone marrow and tartare were all excellent. For the main items we opted for the short rib which was flavorful but overcooked and dry. The garlic noodles were good as a paired starch but more dense and heavy than the lighter garlic noodles I gave more often. Overall, it was a great meal. Probably should have ordered the shaking beef instead of the short rib but we'll remember next time. Credit cards are accepted and all dining is indoor only. Great food, unusual and tasty! Have been many times over the years and always a good experience!

Their other restaurant little sister is SO much better. The pho was okay, way too much noodles and the broth wasn't as flavorful as the broth at little sister. The dumplings and banhn mi sandwich were good but what took away most from our experience wasn't the subpar food but the lack of service like a restaurant should be all about catering to your customers needs but anything we asked here seemed to be too much of an ask for the chef. The waitress recommended we share the pho so I asked if they can split the pho with it provided in two bowls and I was told "the chef wont do that" . When she literally said herself to share but they can't plate it in two bowls for us? I asked for a side of garlic noodles same response "chef can't do that" but I said you're willing to give me a side of black rice but not noodles? Noodles and rice are similar but I was told no noodles are weighed in advance" ok then weigh a side of noodles just like you provided a side of rice?? Made no sense. And then they came back like actually since it's your anniversary well split the pho but I thought to myself what about if we ever returned not on an anniversary or if it wasn't our anniversary this day you wouldn't cater to your customers and just split the pho in two bowls ? Then when we were taking left overs I really loved the hot sauce so I asked if I can take some home so I can eat my leftovers with it and I was again told oh the chef won't permit that. this chef needs to go back to chef school and learn that a huge part about being a chef and running a restaurant is to make your customers happy and cater to their needs if you want them to ever come back. No matter how good the food is (albeit only the dumplings and banh mi were good) I would not come back here bc they don't know how to provide proper customer service. read more
