The aesthetic of this place is probably the reason this place is doing so well. It's way too cute and perfectly planned. I have been a few times but I keep forgetting to check in. I absolutely love the service here. They really were attentive and If and guest looked lost, they'd ask if you needed anything. They are fantastic! I also love the layout how the register is the 'bar' and the whole set up is like a cantine. I think it's clever and works perfectly for this establishment. I also love how the food gets served to you and they look for the guests on the floor. The only downside is the drinks. You have to either pay super close attention and loiter by the drink station, or hope that no one takes your drink when you sit and decide to check on your drink. They need a megaphone over in the window where the employees yell what drink is ready because it's way too hard to hear and sometimes that area gets overly crowded with everyone trying to listen and get their drinks. That would be my only suggestion, I also feel bad for the employees because they are standing there for a while and they are trying to get the drink served. I have also seen the wrong customer grab the wrong drink by accident because of this way of sending the drinks out. I know some of the employees ask to see a receipt but not all of them do so this is sometimes problematic as the wrong person picks up the wrong order. The food and drinks though are fantastic! I absolutely loved their take on the chicken wings. They really did taste rotisserie. I've seen some of their other items leave the kitchen and they looked so yummy as well ! I love the depth of flavour and the portion size that they give. I have never had rotisserie style chicken wings and these exceeded expectations ! I loved the mocha iced latte as well. It was so nice of the cashier to customize the drink for me. I asked for it to be less sweet and they were able to do it and it tasted amazing ! I would come back just for the latte. He also informed me that the establishment makes their own syrups and it definitely showed. The only downside about the place, the paper straws. They may be biodegradable but they are so gross tasting and they absolutely ruin the taste of the drinks here. I also had the sangria and I love drinking a sangria with a straw but this straw tastes nasty. In order to appeal to both straw lovers and environment lovers, I think they should have both because the paper straws drastically alters the taste of the drinks and it would be nice if they offered the regular straws. But all in all, I will continue to visit the place and I love that they host so many cool events and really try and intermingle with the Mosaic Fairfax community. Go local businesses ! read more

Sadly I was the guinea pig here and they tested their new tablet ordering system on us. The order did not go through so aft waiting 5 mins the waitress who took my order on the tablet had to come back and write down my order. I got the avocado toast, frites and a soy iced latte with simple syrup and my mom got the poke bowl and a hot latte. After fixing the mess up the food cake out quick, but my mom noticed there was a HAIR IN HER FOOD so she had to ask for a new one. My food tasted okay , but the frites we sad , limpy and pale. The side of frites cost $6 even though the amount was so small. The iced latte was overly sweet and it had a paper straw, which I'm not against but the lid pinched the straw so it was hard to drink from and the straw became soft very quickly. I can understand the tech issues because this place is new but not the hair in the food. Just because they are still in the soft opening phase does not mean hair on food it's okay plus the food was not good at all. The first time was great but I see a little difference with the avocado toast from the few times I ordered it. The first time was delicious the last few times it was drowning in butter and salt. I think if they can master the food than it will be a five star place this review is based off the food itself. I have tired all coffees are great room to be a little sweeter. Not really a dinner place just sandwiches and snacks (basically a garage with a food truck inside). You order at the counter and someone (waitstaff?) bring it to a table of your choosing. It's a large place (3 levels) with relatively few tables/seating. The tables were small and the chairs were plastic. There is a couch and couple of more comfortable seats on the 3rd floor. The tables were not wiped down, so your table may a little dirty. It is hard to carry on a conversation because the music (liked it) was loud. If you're lonely, in need of WiFi and a beer - this is the place for you! read more

Calling a mandatory "Fair Wage Fee" an alternative to a price increase is making a distinction without a difference. Either way, the customer pays more. Then expecting a tip on top of the 15% fee is a bit much. Taken as a whole, the excessive signage, fee structure and disclosure, and unwillingness to accept cash speak to a customer unfriendly business model. This is borne out by the staff who are mostly dismissive of the customer - and why shouldn't they be. But the place is, or used to be, crowded so something about the approach must be working. read more

Four of us were here on Friday evening , they have almost 10 beers on tap and they have wine too. The food is all right we just had wings and fries wings were okay we had Thai and buffalo wings . There are almost 10 tables inside and a big outer space to stand and they have tables too . The best part is you don't have to stand in the line to order beers they have a QR code on the tables so you can scan that with the camera in your iPhone and order beers and they will get it right way to your table . When you make customers wait more than 10 minutes for coffee, you should invest the time to apologize and explain why you running behind (before they have the opportunity to order). Several people waiting for more than 30mins. One person had to leave their order behind... The worst part of this experience is that a 20% service change and additional "convenience fee" were charged on my bill. My husband and I decided to have our wedding at caboose and I absolutely cannot recommend them enough as a wedding venue! Jessica - who was our event coordinator - helped me plan so much. She was responsive and quick and really helped me make sure everything was set for the big day. On the big day, the Caboose team REALLY stepped up when they didn't have to after my decor company messed up the delivery time. Without the Caboose team, the reception wouldn't have started on time. They were friendly and super helpful whenever we needed anything. Everyone talked about how amazing the food was as well! Our reception was amazing and it's absolutely because of Caboose. This is probably my favorite breweries in our NOVA area why? 1. I don't ever have to experience FOMO (fear of missing out) since ALL AGES AND PETS ARE WELCOME. Came here on a Thursday afternoon/evening with some friends. I arrived early around 3 to do some work and got a matcha tea. The tea was really good and the wifi here is strong. It gets a little noisy but that doesn't really bother me. There are a few different levels you can sit at and there's a lot of natural light which is really nice. My friends came around 5:30 and we got drinks/ate dinner. I suggest coming around 5 or earlier if you want to secure a table as the place fills up rather quickly. If you're sitting at a table, you can order drinks straight to the table with a QR code that's taped to the table. Unfortunately you can only order drinks and not food, so if you want food you have to wait in line. The line is always long so you might as well just get in it whenever you want the food rather than waiting for it to die down. If you order drinks to the table they always come out within a minute or two which is pretty fast considering how crowded it gets. As for food I tried the grilled cheese and mac and cheese. Both were pretty good, although the grilled cheese was really oily. I can't complain that much though as it was filling. The menu is pretty random with some Asian foods like poke and ramen and then American foods like burgers. Overall the food and drinks menu is pretty limited compared to a full blown restaurant but it's still good and there's probably something you'll find there that you'll like. read more

Awesome brewery in the heart of Mosaic! I came here for an event that was on the 2nd and 3rd floor. I had the mac and cheese, wings, brussel sprouts and hummus. I really liked the brussel sprouts! Caboose is a great and much needed addition to the Mosaic District. While there are a few places to grab a drink there is not a ton of late night spots so I'm happy to have at least one late night drink location. And like everyone else has said, its a great place to grab a beer and hang out for a bit. However I do wish their selection was a bit larger and their food could have a little more variety but to be fair they have been generally slammed every time I've come to visit and I'm definitely not mad at those prices :). Also if you are not a fan of children, probably don't come here anytime before 9PM because all the outdoor games are just taken over completely, which again I totally get since it is NoVA but it is a bit odd to see what is basically a large bar cater to families as well. read more

You are able to scan the QR code at the table and order and pay for your drinks with out actually interacting with anyone. Having the best time at the Caboose today! It is THE perfect addition to the growing Mosaic district and has everything I need in a coffee shop: Seating options You have so many options here. Inside, you can choose high tops next to the open windows if you want a breeze and some Vitamin D, regular seating (with back support), and even a few couches. There are three levels, giving you lots of space to spread out. I think my personal favorite will end up being on the tippy top third floor where there are a couple of tables (with outlets) and a comfy leather couch. Once you get settled, there is a QR code ordering system so you can order directly from your table. Work/study-friendly When Yelping coffee shops I always want to know if they will be work/study-friendly. This is about as good as it gets in my book. I love the concept of brewery/coffee shops, definitely allowing me to indulge in both vices! Caboose is situated right across Mosaic, allowing for easy access to the shopping or theatre. As an avid coffee shop goer, I'm glad to find a large warehouse venue with nice garage windows. While it is colder now, the windows provide ample lighting. With so much seating available, I don't feel cramped with adjacent patrons. In addition, happy hour allows for a quick repose from productivity; a great way to wind down! I've ordered the Lavender London Fog--had a nice subtle floral flavor without overpowering the integrity of the bergamot. Afterwards, I couldn't help myself with the Duchess Porter. Smooth with a sweet undertone! I can't comment on the food as I haven't tried it thus far. One thing to note, Caboose is a cashless establishment! They have great space (indoor and outside) and most of their beer is pretty good. The low rating is because they add a 15% "service fee" to every order. Any server tip is in addition to this!! This is really really deceptive. They claim it's so they can pay their staff a living wage, which I'm all for, but put that cost directly in the menu prices. Almost every restaurant/bar around here can pay their staff without being deceptive. 15% is a LOT to tack on to the bill without the customer's consent. I recently came here with my aunt - we both love beer. The selection of beer was smaller than Caboose Brewery in Vienna. However, it had an amazing stout! We tried the oven baked mac and cheese, butternut squash soup and grilled cheese with truffle fries. The mac and cheese was okay. It did not have that crispy top that most baked mac and cheese have. Also, it lacked some flavor. The butternut squash soup was very creamy and was full of flavor. I liked the grilled cheese (it was a bit greasy for my aunt) and the truffle fries were amazing. The desserts were okay. Maybe it is because we tried it later in the day but the cinnamon roll was dry and the snickerdoodle was not very sweet. My aunt enjoyed the sweet potato muffin. The place is a communal dining setting with counter service. You get a number card to place on your table after ordering and your food is brought to you. They have you scan a bar code on your table to take you to their menu (that said they are out of beer flights) which is extremely difficult to use. After trying to flag down an employee with no avail we decided to leave and give our money to an establishment that cares about their customers. One last thing, they had 9 parking spaces blocked off for pick up orders which makes finding a parking spot next to impossible. Visited Caboose Commons yesterday (Saturday) morning around 10:00am and it was fairly busy. There are plenty of seats downstairs and upstairs. We ordered our food, took a table number, and they brought it out to us. I ordered a egg and cheese and my friend ordered a ham, egg, and cheese. My friend loved his sandwich so much that he went to order another one. Me on the other hand, I didn't think it was all that. It was another egg and cheese on an English muffin to me. Caboose Commons has finally filled the issue of where can I grab a drink after work in Mosaic. They have a ton of space outside, but on the weekends the tables are usually taken. The beers are okay to decent, but typically just get the Fog IPA now. I've had the Cold brew a couple of times as well and it's pretty damn good. Just a heads up... there are a TON of kids here pretty much all day on weekends. Tip: If you open your camera app on your iPhone and point at the barcode on the table you can order a drink straight to your table. It's .25 cents to do this... but you don't need to stand in the line at the front. I've only had one beer not come to me ever this way (I walked to the front and just got it right away). read more

Cool place to hang on a Sunday. I made a light early morning meal of a bland but healthful arugula quinoa salad and a tasty oat milk cappuccino. Hip locals with their dogs were soaking up some sun under the red sails and strings of Edison bulbs of the patio. Inside the ductwork, vents, and cranes keep the eyes occupied. In the afternoon, swing by for a post-retail beer right across from the Mosaic shopping center and coo at the babies and babes galore. Praise to this local gem. Terrific! I love this new gathering foodie space! Such a great place to get work done, read a book, catch up with a friend or a group of friends, gather for happy hour, or a spot to bring your kids. The diverse drink menu from beer to coffee (not to mention the speciality drinks!). The food menu is really diverse with a great selection of choices- went with the dragon tea, fries, avo hummus dip (yum yum), and wings. Pretty much was the highlight of my week eating here - you can order little bites to share or your own dish. Prices are extremely fair and service is beyond superior.
