Brunch Hash, with eggs and chorizo
    Bruce K.

Right off the belt line, this place serves coffee on top of brews. I came here for an event, but we got brunch here as well. I shared a hash with chorizo and an over easy egg. The chorizo was spicier than expected. The iced coffee was alright, I would probably skip on the coffee and just order the food next time. However, it's a great stop for those who are on the belt line as I saw a lot of people who came here as a stop before continuing on their morning rides/runs. They also offered water to those who were on the belt line which I thought was nice. Inside, it's a brewery through and through. Industrial type of seating, no carpet so it's loud. But it's like any other brewery. One thing that did separate them was that there was an upper level seating/second floor which I thought was neat that looked down on the bar and the rest of the tables. Overall, Caboose Tavern I thought was pretty neat and would definitely recommend to check out.

Good place for a quick cocktail post bike ride. It's conveniently off the wo&d! The pink wyvern was a bit more tart than I thought but still good. Not super boozy and didn't know what it meant by super syrup. My friend got the Eleanor which was pretty good but you can definitely taste the tequila, also a bit tart. None were my favorite but pretty good to try, also wyvern just sounds so cool.

Living on a budget with my partner out of work has made our usual outings for food and play more sparse. But when we heard long distance friends were going to be in the area, we had to find a place where we would all enjoy. Caboose Tavern not only met our expectations, but exceeded them with their queer-friendly environment, budget-friendly menu, and excellent quality in drink and food. I ordered the breakfast hash with chorizo, a brown sugar iced latte, and the seasonal drink, the femme fatale. Everything was exceptional, and I loved that I could get the femme fatale to go! Our server was also a complete delight! All in all, we can't wait to return!

Food was great. Had the grilled cheese with bacon. My husband had the berry salad and that goat cheese vinaigrette was so good! Our appetizer made it out after our food so it wasn't warm. Our waiter had a great attitude and the ambiance was nice. It wasn't too loud and their bathroom had great art.

I've been coming for a while (both locations) as I frequent the bike trail and am a huge fan of their beer. Really cool location and interior! I dined inside on this occasion and it was quite hot; it felt like a greenhouse (and I usually have the opposite complaint in the summer). Noodles were way too oily. Combined with the heat, an underwhelming experience.

Stopped by when walking along the w&OD trail, and was particularly excited to come here. When we arrived, we failed to be seated, and a waiter told us there were no more seats. We managed to find seating at the bar, and while our bartender was friendly, I hope management organizes staffing much better - everyone seemed incredibly stressed and overworked, which is never nice to experience as a customer. As for the food, I enjoyed the breakfast hash with chorizo, as it was spicy and flavorful. The sandwich was a decent portion, but not too flavorful. My partner was not very satisfied, Overall, felt like the restaurant was too disorganized but has such a nice environment - a shame!

My first time here and it was a great experience. Food was delicious, wings were great! Deviled eggs were a little bland but good. Great atmosphere with people coming in off the O&D trail. Dog and kid friendly with friendly & amazing service.

I love this location in mosaic and was pleasantly surprised to come across this location while on the w&od trail. It has an opening facing the trail and an area to park your bike. I mainly came in because I needed ice cold water but decided to get a drink to treat myself. My server Sophie was great despite how awfully sweaty i was after my run. She was kind and very personable. She was quick with the water refills and brought me a second glass wish I appreciated so much. Food looks good here but I settled on a pint of the Citra Ipa. The perfect hazy and citrus-y drink. Hindsight I should have ordered the 10oz but they also offer 4oz. They have seasonal cocktails, mocktails, and coffee drinks. The inside was spacious and there is outdoor seating along with an upstairs area. They have a run club meeting here monday nights at 6:30, so that is interesting.

Very accommodating to cyclists and dogs on the patio, which is perfect because I ride out from Alexandria with my fur baby on my back. Excellent selection of beer on tap. Angus burger is awesome with the sweet potato fries!

Bacon, egg and cheese (a good pepper Jack in this case). Love this place. Never had anything I didn't like here.

Been here numerous times and have always enjoyed it. Great food and service. Have liked everything I've ever had here. Friendly and prompt service.

Stumbled upon this brewery while we were in the area and loved it! Great beer, right by a biking/walking trail, beautiful indoor area - what more can you ask for!

As soon as we entered, General Manager Sam welcomed us like old friends. After we were seated, my wife asked if he had previously worked at The Dabney, and sure enough, that's where we recognized him from. It was great catching up as he shared what he'd been doing since then and how his dream had always been to open his own restaurant. Seeing that dream come to life made the evening feel even more special. The restaurant was busy (definitely make reservations), but we were able to enjoy cocktails while we waited for our table. My Grey Goose martini with bleu cheese olives was phenomenal and set the tone for the rest of the meal. We started with the Bison Tartare and the Ceviche. The bison tartare was leaner than traditional beef tartare, and the crispy chips added the perfect savory crunch. The ceviche was incredibly fresh and bright. For our entrées, I had the ribeye while my wife ordered the Dory. The ribeye was cooked perfectly--juicy, tender, and packed with flavor. My wife couldn't stop talking about how buttery and delicious the fish was. To finish the evening, we ordered the 100-Year Port Flight featuring 10-, 20-, 30-, and 40-year ports. Vertical tastings are such a fun way to experience how a wine evolves over time. The 40-year was absolutely outstanding, and the 20-year was another favorite. The 10-year was enjoyable but still showed its youthful character compared to the older vintages. The atmosphere strikes a nice balance between upscale and relaxed. The main dining room can feel a little tight when the restaurant is full, while the bar area has a few TVs for anyone wanting to catch a game. One thoughtful touch that stood out was the women's restroom being stocked with amenities like hair ties and hair clips. We noticed they also offer a tasting menu, and after this experience, that's already on our list for our next visit. Between the outstanding hospitality, exceptional food, excellent cocktails, and welcoming atmosphere, Evelyn Rose absolutely earned five stars.

They are known for their homemade pastas and offered a half size portion so you could try both- couldn't pick a favorite, each different and delicious! One of guests had fish which they loved and another had the ribeye and enjoyed it as well. Don't leave without sharing a dessert- the salted honey ice cream that topped the carrot cake was beyond perfect! Can't wait to celebrate another event there!

It's a nice atmosphere, not too stuffy but elegant enough for a nice dinner. The drinks are good, well mixed, and nice options whether you drink wine, beer, cocktails, or non-alcoholic options. The food, however, is very mediocre. They started with an amuse-bouche that was a fruit tart with cheese. Nice, light, and well balanced. We ordered the tuna tartare, along side a Japanese sweet potato dish and a salmon tartare that were both specials. The tartares were fine. Something you would get anywhere. The presentation was nice but their crisp or cracker was kind of useless as it doesn't have the structural strength to use as a vessel to eat the fish. The sweet potato was probably the best in terms of flavor albeit very rich. The main course is well things really fell apart. The beef dishes people ordered were either under cooked or over cooked. I got the grilled prawns which were limp and mushy. The veggies were underseasoned. The braised beef was small. I think everyone was underwhelmed with the main course. It's fine as a after work dinner spot but if you care about food, there are better options nearby.

They offer a prix-fixe menu that changes seasonally (?) for brunch and dinner. The ingredients here are high-quality and well prepared and cared for before serving. I've heard great things about Maple Ave from a friends, so I took my family here for dinner this past Wednesday. We really enjoyed the creativity of how the dishes were crafted and plated here and the execution was also phenomenal. This time around, it was 59.00 per person for a 4-course prix-fixe dinner (two appetizers, one entree, and one dessert). Since there were only a couple options per section, we were able to try all the options they had. FIRST: APPLE HAZELNUT SOUP Creamy, pale colored soup with a thicker consistency similar to butternut squash soup. It was lightly sweet, yet savory at the same time. There were some pickled apples and toasted hazelnuts delicately sprinkled on top that added a bit of a crunch. The soup was unique and we enjoyed it. FIRST: ROOTCAKE Between the rootcake and the apple hazelnut soup, the rootcake was my favorite. The vegetables were caramelized and made into a patty, topped generously with almonds with some umami aïoli and pimenton sauce. The rootcake was so good. Each bite was hearty and rich, and it's such a unique way to prepare vegetables. The sauce enhanced each bite and the almonds provided a nutty texture. I would recommend the rootcake as your first option. SECOND: CRISPY SQUASH NUGGETS I didn't think I would enjoy the crispy squash nuggets as much as I did. The roasted squash is breaded with panko crumbs, sitting in some dill yogurt sauce and topped with some raisins and radish. The squash were perfectly seasoned and crispy with a soft interior that left my taste buds wanting more. The dill yogurt sauce was a good complement. I'd definitely recommend this option if you're not a fan of mushrooms and/or you want something more crispy. SECOND: WILD MUSHROOM RISOTTO One of the best mushroom risottos I've ever had. It's rich and creamy, filled with truffle flavor. The shiitake mushrooms had a dry, crispy texture. The manchego shavings on top were a great plus. The squash was used for coloring and probably some flavoring? Not sure. The whole thing was really good and memorable. I'd definitely recommend! THIRD: SHRIMP I'm not a huge fan of shrimp, but my family loved it along with the citrus braised fennel. I was a fan of the creamy semolina, though! Overall, it wasn't for me, but that's more of a personal preference. THIRD: PORK CONFIT STEAK The pork they used was pork belly (?) and seared very nicely, topped with perfectly crispy potatoes, mangoes (?), brown butter sweet potato puree and chimi churri sauce. The pork belly melted in my mouth but as someone who's not the biggest fan of fatty pork, I wish it was a leaner cut. The potatoes were so good and went well with the sweet potato puree. Even though I didn't love the pork confit steak, I'd recommend this entree over the shrimp. FOURTH: MOCK FRIED "APPLE" PIE It was zucchini instead of apple and you can't even tell. I loved the crispy pie exterior which was lightly topped with cinnamon. The vanilla bean ice cream was my favorite as it was creamy and smooth. The dulce de leche and lavender honey were nice touches. Very nice way to end the meal. All the food here were so rich with lots of complex flavors. Each dish was so beautifully plated with many vibrant colors. We were quite full after all the food we ate. I would recommend coming here with another person to try all the options they offer here! The food here is unique and well-executed, and I'd be open to come back to try a different seasonal menu.

After seeing the list, we chose Randy's. Randy's is a Great American Restaurant, and I must say it's so good to go to a GAR with a menu different from the others. In the past, I've written about how one can go to Coastal Flats and get pretty much the same menu as, for example, Jackson's. We made a reservation for 5 p.m. on a Saturday. We arrived about a half hour early, so we asked if they could seat us right then and there. The people at the host stand said "yes". We were seated at a 4-top booth. Thus, there was plenty of room. The booths, which have mohair seat coverings, were a shade of green and quite attractive. The environment clearly says "upscale steakhouse." Our server was prompt in getting to us and asked if we wanted some water. We chose tap water. He gave us time to look over the menu. We decided to not have any appetizers as we didn't want to get too full. To drink, my husband got a glass of Catena Malbec while I got an Espresso Martini. Our server asked if we wanted some bread. We said "yes". The bread basket had 2 flaky, buttery croissants, plus a slice of white bread and a slice with raisins. For our main course, we both got the 7 oz. filet mignon cooked medium rare. We chose to try two sides. One side was "roasted asparagus" which consists of: "poached egg, parmesan (we asked for no cheese and our request was honored), truffled Bernaise aioli". The second side was "Honey roasted organic rainbow carrots," which were "dusted with candied walnuts". As for the food --- We both thought our steaks were properly cooked, However, my husband said his was on the dry side while mine was just right. We both really enjoyed the side dishes. The asparagus was unconventional, to be sure. Never did I have a poached egg with asparagus. I ate the egg, and it was properly cooked. Looking back, I should have thought to put some salt on it as there was none. The truffled sauce was creamy and added nice flavor. The carrots, to me anyway, were a pleasant surprise. The honey added a nice flavor along with the candied walnuts. They, too, were cooked perfectly. As for being "rainbow" carrots, most were orange, with some white and yellow ones. We had some room for dessert, so we decided to share "Tressa's crispy meringue filled with lemon curd and finished with passionfruit coulis". Since it was our anniversary dinner, a dollop of whipped cream was added to the plate. In that dollop was a lit candle, which was a nice touch. I found the coulis to be on the tart side. The lemon curd was mildly flavored. Service was excellent, though dessert took a while ,to arrive. All in all, a nice splurge and we're glad we came here. (Well...we didn't care for the traffic on Leesburg Pike, but the dinner made it worth the trip).

The atmosphere: The restaurant is beautifully decorated, with a warm and inviting ambiance. There is plenty of spacious booth seating, which made for a comfortable dining experience. The food: My table started with the Crispy Fried Point Judith Calamari to share. I have a peanut and tree nut allergy and didn't initially realize that the dish included pesto. The staff promptly remade the appetizer without the pesto, which I appreciated. However, the interaction left me feeling a bit like an inconvenience based on the tone of the response. For my entrée, I ordered the Patsy's 5 Star Reserve Rib Eye. It was cooked to a perfect medium rare and was absolutely delicious. I also added a side of the House Steak Sauce, and it paired wonderfully with the steak. I highly recommend trying it if you're someone who enjoys dipping sauces with your steak! The service: Overall, the service was pleasant. The staff was kind, attentive, and ensured we had everything we needed throughout the meal. While there were a few minor hiccups, I enjoyed my visit and would return to try more of the menu.

It has a clean, upscale feel that honestly reminded me of walking into a Louis Vuitton boutique. Even the logo has that same luxury vibe. We ordered four drinks: the Pistachio Tea, Snowy Jasmine, Jasmine Tea, and Jasmine Apple Tea. My favorite part was that you could actually taste the tea instead of just sweetness. The jasmine teas had a delicate floral aroma that lingered after every sip, and the finish was smooth and refreshing. The Pistachio Tea was rich and nutty without being heavy, and the Snowy Jasmine had a light, creamy texture that paired really well with the fragrant tea. The Jasmine Apple Tea was interesting. I personally enjoyed it, but both of my kids thought it had a slight Pepto-Bismol-like aftertaste. Taste is subjective, though, and I'd still order it again to give it another try. The shop was moderately busy, and all four drinks were ready in about five minutes. We spent around $45 for the drinks, and I also picked up a Molly pin for my teenager, who loved it. The only downside is the price. It's definitely on the expensive side for tea, so it probably won't become an everyday stop for me. That said, the quality of the tea, the beautiful presentation, and the overall experience were excellent. I'd happily come back as a repeat customer when I'm in the area. If you enjoy premium tea that lets the tea itself shine instead of just tasting like sugar, Molly Tea is worth checking out

My friend got the filet mignon which she enjoyed. Brian was an excellent server, making sure we had everything we need, handled several requests with promptness and professionalism, and had our bread pudding dessert decorated with "Happy Birthday" for my friend. First time: I had the lobster roll which came heaped with lobster chunks. I had to eat the lobster for a while before I could pick it up or risk the lobster falling out - so nice not to be hungry after getting a lobster roll! It came with a generous serving shoestring fries - really good and grilled corn on the cob. We had Aracely and Delilaha, two friendly and wonderful waitstaff, one of whom was being trained and the other had been there for years. My friend told them that it was my birthday, and they came out later with a scoop of vanilla ice cream with happy birthday written in chocolate and a candle in whipped cream. I was also impressed how even a straw wrapper sitting on the table was scooped up by someone coming by. The tall ceilings gave the restaurant an open, airy atmosphere. Next door is the associated bakery where they have cupcakes, pastries, cinnamon rolls, and other lovely treats.

AMBIANCE: I know YardHouse typically has a HUGEEE space, but…read morei was excited to come to this location. because the springfield location is closer to home, it's the one I have always gone to, but on this day i was trying to watch the world cup game and this location was closest. FOOD: i got the asian noodles meal, i truly don't know what the dish was actually called but it was PHENOMENAL. it had beef pieces in it, which WERE breaded. so, that was the only thing i did not expect, but regardless it was a TONNNN of food. we also got nachos as an app, so i did have a ton of leftover from my main dish due to that, but it was a solid meal to eat for leftovers the next day. it had veggies: my favorite were snappeas (or snowpeas? are those the same??) carrots, mushroom, and asparagus. it's was soooo good, would get again 100% SERVICE: considering they were slammed due to the USA game, i was super surpsied that we were able to get sat as quick as we did. i thought i was going to have to find a spot at the bar and just hope my bf was ok with standing LOL. but the outdoor space was free, so i found a spot at the bar and then put my name on the list for outdoor seating and i waiting no more than 5 minutes and we were good to go. our waitness was super kind, she had made a mistake in getting us water with ice when we ordered without ice and we both said it was totally fine but she switched it for us anyway, so i thought that was sweet. good vibes, good company, good food. 10/10.

Yard House is a solid choice if you're looking for a reliable chain restaurant in a great location…read more The appetizers are consistently good, and it's an easy place to meet friends or grab a casual meal. Be prepared for it to be busy, this place is almost always crowded. The good news is they take reservations, which makes the wait much more manageable and is definitely the way to go. The ambiance is decent, but because it's usually packed, it can get very loud. If you're looking for a quiet dinner or an intimate conversation, this probably isn't the place. On the other hand, if you're meeting a group, watching a game, or just want a lively atmosphere, it fits the bill. Overall, it's exactly what you'd expect from a chain restaurant: dependable food, good appetizers, a convenient location, and a fun, energetic vibe--as long as you don't mind the noise.
