Recently, Eater DC published a list of what they considered the best steakhouses in the DMV. Randy's made the list. We were looking for a place to have our anniversary dinner. After seeing the list, we chose Randy's. Randy's is a Great American Restaurant, and I must say it's so good to go to a GAR with a menu different from the others. In the past, I've written about how one can go to Coastal Flats and get pretty much the same menu as, for example, Jackson's. We made a reservation for 5 p.m. on a Saturday. We arrived about a half hour early, so we asked if they could seat us right then and there. The people at the host stand said "yes". We were seated at a 4-top booth. Thus, there was plenty of room. The booths, which have mohair seat coverings, were a shade of green and quite attractive. The environment clearly says "upscale steakhouse." Our server was prompt in getting to us and asked if we wanted some water. We chose tap water. He gave us time to look over the menu. We decided to not have any appetizers as we didn't want to get too full. To drink, my husband got a glass of Catena Malbec while I got an Espresso Martini. Our server asked if we wanted some bread. We said "yes". The bread basket had 2 flaky, buttery croissants, plus a slice of white bread and a slice with raisins. For our main course, we both got the 7 oz. filet mignon cooked medium rare. We chose to try two sides. One side was "roasted asparagus" which consists of: "poached egg, parmesan (we asked for no cheese and our request was honored), truffled Bernaise aioli". The second side was "Honey roasted organic rainbow carrots," which were "dusted with candied walnuts". As for the food --- We both thought our steaks were properly cooked, However, my husband said his was on the dry side while mine was just right. We both really enjoyed the side dishes. The asparagus was unconventional, to be sure. Never did I have a poached egg with asparagus. I ate the egg, and it was properly cooked. Looking back, I should have thought to put some salt on it as there was none. The truffled sauce was creamy and added nice flavor. The carrots, to me anyway, were a pleasant surprise. The honey added a nice flavor along with the candied walnuts. They, too, were cooked perfectly. As for being "rainbow" carrots, most were orange, with some white and yellow ones. We had some room for dessert, so we decided to share "Tressa's crispy meringue filled with lemon curd and finished with passionfruit coulis". Since it was our anniversary dinner, a dollop of whipped cream was added to the plate. In that dollop was a lit candle, which was a nice touch. I found the coulis to be on the tart side. The lemon curd was mildly flavored. Service was excellent, though dessert took a while ,to arrive. All in all, a nice splurge and we're glad we came here. (Well...we didn't care for the traffic on Leesburg Pike, but the dinner made it worth the trip). read more

This was my first time dining at Randy's, and overall I had a pleasant experience. Located right next to Patsy's, another Great American restaurant, Randy's is known for its upscale steakhouse experience. The atmosphere: The restaurant is beautifully decorated, with a warm and inviting ambiance. There is plenty of spacious booth seating, which made for a comfortable dining experience. The food: My table started with the Crispy Fried Point Judith Calamari to share. I have a peanut and tree nut allergy and didn't initially realize that the dish included pesto. The staff promptly remade the appetizer without the pesto, which I appreciated. However, the interaction left me feeling a bit like an inconvenience based on the tone of the response. For my entrée, I ordered the Patsy's 5 Star Reserve Rib Eye. It was cooked to a perfect medium rare and was absolutely delicious. I also added a side of the House Steak Sauce, and it paired wonderfully with the steak. I highly recommend trying it if you're someone who enjoys dipping sauces with your steak! The service: Overall, the service was pleasant. The staff was kind, attentive, and ensured we had everything we needed throughout the meal. While there were a few minor hiccups, I enjoyed my visit and would return to try more of the menu. read more

Randy's is a more upscale steak restaurant in the Great American restaurants chain and is located right next to Patsy. You get the same great service but with a more upscale menu (and prices to boot). Other GAR restaurants get salad with your steak but sadly not here. The bread basket served here gets more varieties (i.e., croissants). Recommend you order sides with your entrée especially the amazing corn brulee. A great steak restaurant but not as stuffy as other steak places. Definitely recommended. read more

Very large restaurant ample space. Good vibes. The food is very good. Classic steakhouse. The Caesar salad was very mediocre. Probably the worst thing of the night. The asparagus had delicious flavor. The cream spinach with the bread crumb was really yummy. Both steaks were cooked to perfection. Nothing really stood out as like super different from any other steakhouse, but it's very solid. The carrot cake, however is really 10/10. Highly recommend if you're a fan. read more

A year later to again celebrate birthdays.. we chose this because of the last experience. This year was just as special. First Genesis, our service specialist, was amazing in timing, recommendations, and attitude. The food was outstanding as usual- / cake was simply amazing but $76 (). Fine. It is a special day. The scallops beautiful and delicious . Did not expect but provided a special birthday dessert- well done. Personal service. They hit all the metrics of a well run and personal establishment without the ego. Beautiful ambiance as usual, appreciate the attentive manager. 2 minor downsides- loud, maybe not much can be done; martini - blue cheese olives amazing, the drink small and a bit off. It's ok. Probably a one off but disappointed. Otherwise 5 for sure. Love this place. Will be back around thanksgiving! read more

I came to Randy's with a coworker to celebrate our birthdays. When we walked over to our table, two things that immediately caught my eye were the gigantic artworks throughout and the small and large wine bottles along the sides of booths in the middle of the dining room. They both added a classic feel to the restaurant. While we waited for our food, we were given bread which consisted of two delicious croissants and two other pieces of bread and butter. My old fashioned was neat, although not in the biggest of glasses. My ribeye was cooked well (although some parts had too much char), well seasoned, and tender. The brussels sprouts were a great pairing, and the bacon was a tasty complement. I ordered the cheesecake for dessert, and they brought it out with a candle in whipped cream for my birthday. We also had two servers rotating with us for the night, and they were both a pleasure. read more

My family and I came to Randy's Seafood for Father's Day and left very disappointed. I ordered a Caesar salad with chicken, but was charged separately for a full chicken breast meal and a Caesar salad, making the bill much higher than expected for what should have been a simple salad with added chicken. To make matters worse, our waiter was rude, inattentive, and forgot parts of our order. He also acted as though our orders were difficult or inconvenient, even though they were very simple and straightforward. For the prices this restaurant charges, I expected much better service and a better overall experience. I came to Randy's Prime Seafood and Steaks this week for a work luncheon, and overall it was a great experience. There were eight of us in the group, and from a service standpoint, everything ran smoothly. The staff was attentive, professional, and handled a larger party effortlessly, which always makes a big difference during a work meal. The fresh bread was outstanding and deserves a special mention. It comes from Best Buns next door, and it shows. Warm, fresh, and perfectly textured, it was the kind of bread you keep reaching for without even realizing it. The meatballs were excellent and genuinely melted in your mouth. The sauce was rich and flavorful, and the bread paired with it had just the right amount of crunch. We also shared the calamari. It was good overall, but for my personal taste, I would have liked it a bit crispier. I also think it would have been even better if the sauce had been served on the side instead of drizzled over the calamari, which softened it a bit. For my main, I ordered the lobster crab cake and filet. Both were cooked well and tasted great, but at that price point, especially being close to seventy dollars, I did expect the entrée to come with at least one side. That said, we ordered the truffle mac and cheese and the Brussels sprouts for the table, and both were a solid 10 out of 10. The mac and cheese was rich, indulgent, and perfectly done, and the Brussels sprouts were flavorful and cooked just right. Overall, Randy's Prime is a strong choice for a business lunch or a nicer meal out. Excellent service, high-quality food, and standout sides made for a really enjoyable experience. I would absolutely come back, and next time I might plan my order around those sides again because they were that good. read more

The ambiance, service, and cuisine here are nothing short of exceptional; a rare combination that feels both elevated and warmly unpretentious. From the moment I stepped inside, it was clear that this establishment understands not only how to deliver a fine dining experience, but also how to make a guest feel genuinely welcomed. It was my first visit, and what initially drew me in was their offering of the ribeye cap, a cut so prized and elusive that few restaurants bother with it, given its small yield and high cost. That alone was enough to pique my curiosity and, ultimately, win me over. We began with the Lobster Bisque ($19), which we decided to share. The staff graciously divided it into two bowls, an understated gesture that spoke volumes about their attentiveness. The portion is generous enough for two, though the bisque's velvety texture and rich, balanced flavor could easily tempt you to keep it all to yourself. I exercised restraint, saving room for what was to come. Next arrived the Pressed Spicy Tuna Sushi ($24), a layered presentation of Ahi tuna, avocado, sushi rice, spicy tuna, and Unagi sauce. I'll admit, I didn't expect much beyond a pleasant starter, but it turned out to be one of the evening's surprises. The textures were perfectly calibrated, and each bite offered a clean yet lingering finish of spice and sweetness. Then came the stars of the night: the Award-Winning Snake River Farms® American Wagyu Filet Mignon (6 oz, $69) and the Wagyu Ribeye Cap (5 oz, $66). Both were cooked to a flawless medium rare. I added a touch of Béarnaise ($4), not because it needed it, but because sometimes indulgence calls for ceremony. While I firmly believe a truly great steak should stand on its own, the Béarnaise brought a subtle richness that elevated each bite. The Ribeye Cap, however, was a revelation. Rarely seen on DMV menus, this cut was so tender it could be cut with a spoon, meltingly soft, intensely flavorful, and perfectly seared. Though I found myself wishing for a slightly larger portion (I've seen 8-10 oz elsewhere), the quality was beyond reproach. The leftover Béarnaise even found new life the next day, drizzled over asparagus and salmon, a small luxury worth noting before letting any of it go to waste. Dessert was a pass for us this time, though it's worth mentioning that the carrot and chocolate cakes are showstoppers. Portions are generous, I think a quarter of a cake, ample enough for three or four guests and by all appearances, they were met with unanimous approval from neighboring tables. All in all, the experience was superb from start to finish refined without pretense, indulgent without excess. I'll certainly return the next time I'm in the area, and I recommend booking ahead through OpenTable or Resy. I have seen this place and decided to give it a try. The place is not the biggest and it gives a nice cozy vibe. The bread basket might be the best one I have seen with croissants that were good. I went with their filet mignon and I did ask for medium rare it was more rare than that. The steak quality itself was alright but the crust was nice. The mashed potatoes were good and the side of duck fat fries were not bad. They also have a $25 corkage fee with max of 2 bottles and they cannot be already on the menu. The service was great as well. I would not say it is the best steak place in nova but it was not terrible. read more

I had been to Patsy's and Best Buns many times, but had never tried Randy's (located next door to Patsy's). I was in the mood for a good steak and was looking forward to trying this place out. I liked that it was generally a casual atmosphere and very reminiscent of the other Great American Restaurants. It's slightly more upscale, and the prices reflect this, but I didn't feel the need to overly dress up. We ordered the prime rib and 5 star ribeye. Both items were cooked to our liking (medium rare). We also ordered the wild mushrooms as a side, and that was probably one of the best mushrooms I've ever had! They were buttery and cooked to perfection. Went here for a family member's birthday on a Tuesday night. It was busy and loud, it was hard to have a conversation with other people at the table. We ordered a variety of appetizers and sides; the only one that I would really recommend is the brussel sprouts. The calamari was very bland, with the flavor coming almost exclusively from the pesto, and the fries were droopy and lukewarm. When the main courses were brought out, several were the wrong dish entirely and multiple were served to the wrong person. The server was argumentative about the mistakes, trying to convince us that the 16oz ribeye was actually a Wagyu filet. Several of the steaks had literal chunks of salt on them, way over seasoned. When people in our party mentioned this to our server he just responded "okay" and could not have cared less. The desserts were good, but massive and very rich. Overall poor service and food quality (especially the steaks), which is really inexcusable for for $50+ per person entrees. read more

Went to Randy's to celebrate a LAW SCHOOL GRADUATION. Was stopped at the door after eating because we had balloons on a surprise gift, and was told they have a "no balloon policy". Effectively had to argue with someone just to show the present for 2 seconds. It is completely unacceptable to ruin the mood of your PAYING customers for something so insignificant and asinine. Find any other place to have a celebration dinner because apparently you can only celebrate here in approved ways. Good food can be found anywhere, it's the service that matters and this was horrible. Additionally if I'm paying this much, 6 balloons shouldn't be the end of the world. Found this secret hidden gym while searching for a good crab cake. Lobster Crab cake had me extremely intrigued. I decided to bring my wife here for a date. I originally thought this would be a nice date spot but it's way more family oriented with higher end prices. The parking lot was jammed packed for a Saturday. Patsy's next door was jumping. We were quickly seated and our waiter was nice and attentive. I ordered the lobster crab cake with the duck fries. DELICIOUS. The crab cake definitely lived up to expectations. I was surprised with the duck fries. They were super delicious and I was impressed. The Caesar salad was regular. Needed more croutons and dressing, Overall this was a solid establishment. Very delicious! Amazing service! Really enjoyed the seafood tower. It had a little bit of all the seafoods (clam, oysters, mussels, lobster, shrimp)! I am a little upset that we didn't get a full lobster on top though. Only one claw :( I decided to try the ribeye cap which was so delicious! I've never had this cut before but it reminded me of the filet mignon. It was cooked perfectly. We also got the blackened prime rib that was delicious. We ended with their chocolate cake. Started with the Maple Old Fashioned and it didn't disappoint. It wasn't too heavy and the maple didn't overwhelm. The Wagyu filet was delicious and cooked perfectly. Amazing service. Great food. Clean bathrooms (despite not having toilet paper). I joke that I always note the bathroom situation at almost every restaurant I go to. I find it important. The cleanliness of the bathroom is a good indicator of the pride the staff and the restaurant management take in their business. Ok enough about bathrooms. The food was amazingly good. We were a table of 8. We ordered the stacked seafood platter, fried oysters, meatballs and calamari for appetizers. The food came out fairly quickly and everything was fresh and tasty. Lilly is a true gem -- an absolute standout in hospitality She originally came by my restaurant, and we had a great conversation. At the end of her visit, she casually mentioned Randy's, so I decided to check it out and bring my daughter for dinner. I expected a good meal, but what we got was an unforgettable experience -- all thanks to Lilly. From the moment we arrived, she made us feel like VIPs. She patiently took my daughter's order, asked how the rest of my night went after her visit, and -- impressively -- remembered the little details we had talked about. I've had people visit my restaurant before and I always try to return the support, but never has anyone followed up with such care and sincerity. That meant a lot. Lilly didn't stop there. She brought out samples and recommendations to make our dinner even more special. She paired my steak with a fantastic glass of red blend, remembered that I had the chocolate cake last time, and encouraged us to try something new. My daughter still wanted the chocolate cake -- and not only did Lilly bring it, she also surprised us with another dessert, just because she remembered I'd already had it before. We had a reservation at this restaurant on May 24, 2026 at 5p.m. The service was HORRIBLE!! The food was decent. We will never eat here again. Our waiter was so rude and microaggressive it was insane. I literally just stop communicating with him. He had the most disgusting attitude!! It was laughable, but also sad given the way he looked and presented himself. I am sure this man has hundreds of complaints. I couldn't even tell you his name because he never properly introduced himself, however he is an old, bald, heavyset white male that wore glasses. It is apparent that he hates his job and people. Huge fan of Randy's. It's part of the great American chain of restaurants. It's their steakhouse and they do it well. The American Wagyu filet is my go to. It's so tender and flavorful and blows the normal filet out of the water in my opinion. The prices did increase a bit since last year but it's still reasonable. The truffle mac and cheese is incredible. Highly recommend it. Top 3 truffle mac and cheese I've had. My gf always loves to get a to go order of it when we go. The carrot cake is legit the best carrot cake I've ever had. Best by far. Do yourself a favor and try it. The service is typically good here. Usually it's quick and friendly. They do their best to make sure you aren't left hanging. The ambiance is a bit darker and moodier. Really good spot for a date night or a celebration. There's a lot of seating. read more

I actually was dining at Patsy's, I saw a waiter carrying a huge piece of chocolate cake so I asked where it came from, she said you can order desserts from Randy's and that's where it came from. I thought I would try it ......Ahhhmazing! Holy crap that was so good, it has a little bit of fluffy cream against the slightly hard icing in between every layer. Just when I thought it couldn't get better, the little white things in the outside of like heath bar toffee bits! Omg! so good! And it's huge! My husband and shared it, took it home and still ate off of it for 2 days. I don't love anyone's chocolate cake more than my own until now! You gotta try it! read more

Went tonight with family to celebrate my birthday and selling of my house. To start the wait staff are professional and super sweet. Our server William was patient and on top of our service throughout the night. Top tier as to be expected from GAR restaurants. We started with the beet salad, Wagyu meatballs, and calamari. The beet salad was the highlight which was unexpected. The calamari was tender and had delicious sauce. We had the tomahawk steaks, sea bass, scallops, and branzino. The steaks were a hit for shear size and were cooked perfectly. Make sure to order it whole for your photo opportunity! The seabass and branzino were tender and mild with great sauces and flavor. I had the scallops and it was an amazing mix of flavors with the different sauces and corn. It was absolutely delicious. The entire selection of food was prepared to our enjoyment. We just could not eat much of it...well that's because we started with the Mussels and they were just as tasty. The service met our expectations for the evening. My Husband always takes the time have conversations with the waiters. The restaurant had a nice dining atmosphere and we thoroughly enjoyed our first time at this establishment. My five-star rating is based on a combination of elements being in alignment which gave for a great experience. P.S. Eddie Merlot's Chocolate Cake might have some good competition with Randy's Chocolate Cake. read more

I can't say enough good things about Randy's! World class hospitality. This was a delightful surprise as I had given up hope on the restaurant scene in the area before trying this spot. I loved it enough to come back on the second night of my trip. John was my server and he was exceptional. He handled the larger tables beside me and still managed to be extra attentive. It's a beautiful interior and is still laid back. I enjoyed my meals both days and the service was consistent. The seafood jambalaya is so delicious!!! I kept eating long past when I was full. So much flavor and generous seafood portions. I will be dreaming of the sushi for a while. I enjoyed my cocktails as well. I'm planning to head back to sample the steaks and other sides on the menu. There's so much that sounds amazing and I truly wish I had a big group with me. Parking was convenient in the free lot. I'm honestly shocked I was able to get a table both nights without the hassle restaurants tend to give solo diners without a reservation. Highly highly recommend! Also this is bread worth eating!! We went here last night to celebrate our son's birthday. We would highly recommend this restaurant for any celebration - or just to get a fantastic meal. The service is wonderful. We enjoyed our steaks and salmon- the apps are great- we had the calamari and wagyu meatballs. The bread basket was delicious- the croissants are to die for. We had several desserts including chocolate cake, carrot cake and a blueberry cheesecake. I wish I'd taken pictures but we were too busy enjoying our meal. read more

We actually found this place by accident when our reservations fell through at a different restaurant. I'm happy that it did because this place is fantastic. Their seafood tower is like non other I've ever had in my life. The decor gives old money vibes, with high prestige and class. I loved every ounce of my food and the service was chef's kiss. They made our anniversary even more special and made us feel like kings and queens. Even offered us a complimentary glass of champagne to celebrate the occasion. I truly cannot explain how much I loved the calamari here. I've eaten this fish at a lot of restaurants but the flavors of the sauce combined with the calamari were delicious!! When I pay higher prices for items and have to pay extra for sides I expect the best. Steak was cooked well and was perfectly medium rare like I asked for however the bearnaise sauce was really off. It was almost too vinegary or citrusy. I don't know but it wasn't good and I had to return it. Side we're subpar. I think the brussel sprouts at their other restaurants are cooked much nicer than the ones here. Fries had good flavors but they weren't crispy. Wow! Incredible food and great service. Once again, we were looking for somewhere to eat after doing some shopping at Tyson's. This place did not let us down. Ambiance - Dim lighting sets the atmosphere for a fancy meal. There was still enough light to see the menu. Food - Sick! In a good way. Get the lobster crab cake and save room for the sundae! You'll thank me later. Service - Lovely. From checking our jackets at the host stand to the friendly goodbyes when we left. And we were underdressed (jeans and sweatpants) because we hadn't anticipated going there beforehand. Only complaints. My husband's drink was watered down, but they fixed it! Also, no TP in one of the restroom stalls. Otherwise, darn near perfect! read more

A fine dining steakhouse elegance, co-located with Patsy's American. Really good food, including the Shrimp Cocktail, the Mussels and Loaded Baked Potatoes, all with good flavor. Service was fine dining with change of silverware and was ahead of the food, which came out quickly. The wine list is extensive and expansive, domestic and European. read more

10 STARS if I could give them. Really one of the best all around dining experiences I've had in a long time. Business dinner, party of 3 and the attentive and intuitive service (hats off to Alex) was beyond compare. If you're looking for a place to hold an important business meeting or to host a special occasion dinner, Randy's is it, hands down. +++ * Reservations accepted - if you can, why wouldn't you?! Highly recommend. They take special requests. I asked for an intimate table to hold a private business meeting and they sat us in one of their corner round booths - excellent choice. * Randy's is a GAR (Great American Restaurants) restaurant - think Sweetwater, Jackson's, Coastal Flats and next door Patsy's - nothing wrong with that but this place doesn't feel "chain." It DOES live up to the GAR quality and rep...AND SO MUCH MORE. * Plenty of lot parking - though the lot is ALWAYS packed, you can always find a spot (there's a back lot and a next door garage too) - so even in the heart of busy Tysons Corner, you don't have to fight for parking. * Leave the little ones at home. This is fine dining (but not stuffy, high brow, look-down-your-nose fine dining (no dress code, come casual (but not grunge)) - but not a place to bring the kiddos imo. * The inside / interior is GORGEOUS (check out my pics and 360 degree vid - based on prev pics, it appears they recently renovated - WELL DONE). Beautiful, cozy, intimate and inviting. Lighting is perfect. Decor is classy, old world, speakeasy vibes. VELVET upholstered seating!! (I know, I'm easily impressed right?) * The food is exceptional. I didn't take my usual food pics because it was a business meeting lol - but trust me, everything we ordered was brought out piping hot, plated beautifully and tasted delicious. (See my pic of the bill for what we ordered.) * Of the 3 of us, I was the only one who had the prime rib (my other 2 guests has seafood) - the steak was expertly prepared. Way better than Morton's or Ruth's Chris, which have now been summarily replaced with Randy's. * The menu is pretty darn packed with goodness - lots to choose from (many diff steak cuts), something for everyone and specially concocted items. Apparently all items are Randy's-only and not repeats from their other chains (for example, they don't serve ozzie rolls lol but instead have their own complimentary housemade bread basket items!). * Portion sizes are on point. You can truly share their a la carte sides - the Duck Fat Fries O.M.G. The Brussel Sprouts, spectacular. The wild mushrooms, brilliant. * Cocktails and drinks were on point * EXTRA SPECIAL VIP TREATMENT. Last but not least, SERVICE WAS PROBABLY ONE OF THE BEST I HAVE EXPERIENCED AT A HIGH END RESTAURANT. Super impressive. Our server, Alex, KNEW HIS STUFF. By that I mean he was well aware we were conducting business and he intuited our entire evening and navigated it perfectly - something only the top 5% of wait staff have any clue about. We had leisurely before-dinner cocktails and apps and a slow long lingering dinner. He passed by often but left us alone until he caught our eye when we needed something - then was ON IT in a flash. WE NEVER EVER FELT RUSHED. Alex let us dine at our own pace. That's GOLD. At Randy's, the treatment you will be shown as a customer is TOP NOTCH. * WORTH EVERY PENNY. You won't leave Randy's without dropping big huge bucks but, and I rarely say this, your overall dining experience here will be WELL worth the price. I WOULD NOT HESITATE COMING HERE AGAIN FOR ANY PRIVATE BUSINESS MEETING, SPECIAL OCCASION MEAL, or if I just want to treat myself and my companions to something extra special and experience being pampered and given the royal treatment.
