Maple Ave is a small, no-frills bistro in Vienna that serves higher end modern European options ran by two people! They offer a prix-fixe menu that changes seasonally (?) for brunch and dinner. The ingredients here are high-quality and well prepared and cared for before serving. I've heard great things about Maple Ave from a friends, so I took my family here for dinner this past Wednesday. We really enjoyed the creativity of how the dishes were crafted and plated here and the execution was also phenomenal. This time around, it was 59.00 per person for a 4-course prix-fixe dinner (two appetizers, one entree, and one dessert). Since there were only a couple options per section, we were able to try all the options they had. FIRST: APPLE HAZELNUT SOUP Creamy, pale colored soup with a thicker consistency similar to butternut squash soup. It was lightly sweet, yet savory at the same time. There were some pickled apples and toasted hazelnuts delicately sprinkled on top that added a bit of a crunch. The soup was unique and we enjoyed it. FIRST: ROOTCAKE Between the rootcake and the apple hazelnut soup, the rootcake was my favorite. The vegetables were caramelized and made into a patty, topped generously with almonds with some umami aïoli and pimenton sauce. The rootcake was so good. Each bite was hearty and rich, and it's such a unique way to prepare vegetables. The sauce enhanced each bite and the almonds provided a nutty texture. I would recommend the rootcake as your first option. SECOND: CRISPY SQUASH NUGGETS I didn't think I would enjoy the crispy squash nuggets as much as I did. The roasted squash is breaded with panko crumbs, sitting in some dill yogurt sauce and topped with some raisins and radish. The squash were perfectly seasoned and crispy with a soft interior that left my taste buds wanting more. The dill yogurt sauce was a good complement. I'd definitely recommend this option if you're not a fan of mushrooms and/or you want something more crispy. SECOND: WILD MUSHROOM RISOTTO One of the best mushroom risottos I've ever had. It's rich and creamy, filled with truffle flavor. The shiitake mushrooms had a dry, crispy texture. The manchego shavings on top were a great plus. The squash was used for coloring and probably some flavoring? Not sure. The whole thing was really good and memorable. I'd definitely recommend! THIRD: SHRIMP I'm not a huge fan of shrimp, but my family loved it along with the citrus braised fennel. I was a fan of the creamy semolina, though! Overall, it wasn't for me, but that's more of a personal preference. THIRD: PORK CONFIT STEAK The pork they used was pork belly (?) and seared very nicely, topped with perfectly crispy potatoes, mangoes (?), brown butter sweet potato puree and chimi churri sauce. The pork belly melted in my mouth but as someone who's not the biggest fan of fatty pork, I wish it was a leaner cut. The potatoes were so good and went well with the sweet potato puree. Even though I didn't love the pork confit steak, I'd recommend this entree over the shrimp. FOURTH: MOCK FRIED "APPLE" PIE It was zucchini instead of apple and you can't even tell. I loved the crispy pie exterior which was lightly topped with cinnamon. The vanilla bean ice cream was my favorite as it was creamy and smooth. The dulce de leche and lavender honey were nice touches. Very nice way to end the meal. All the food here were so rich with lots of complex flavors. Each dish was so beautifully plated with many vibrant colors. We were quite full after all the food we ate. I would recommend coming here with another person to try all the options they offer here! I definitely want to come back to try more of their stuff later Zero proof honey cocktail - 3/5 I can really taste the spices and fall like flavors. Pretty refreshing grilled peach salad - 4/5 actually so good! I love how the flavors come together and the greens were crispy and fresh Buckwheat crepe - 3/5 nice and sweet but super thin. Wish it was thicker Omelet - 3.5/5 actually pretty unique and I enjoyed this a lot! So soft Pork confit sandwich - 2.5/5 good filling but the bread is not good. Maple Avenue Restaurant in one encounter has shot straight to the top of my list as a unique and lovely food experience. It stands on its own, an intimate setting with only a few tables to be seen. The owners and staff lean into that, making you feel like you are the most important person in the room. They stayed attentive throughout and were incredibly knowledgeable of the changing menu and everything that went into each dish. An easy favorite for me was the Omelette, filled with caramelized onion, sweet corn and Gouda; my taste buds have rarely been this happy. Each bite drenched in the umami aïoli saturated my every sense with a delightfully warm and comfortable flavor. I feel as though I could write an essay about each bite of each dish, but I'll try to save you some time. The grilled peach salad was refreshing and led to me scrapping the plate for the remaining nuts and dressing. The squash nuggets rested on a garden's dill crema that could have elevated anything. The almond ricotta pancake was so sweet and fluffy and somehow sophisticated, it could serve as a dessert easily. The spicy crepe fraiche wings surprised me with their subtle heat and tangy lovely flavor. Everything was paired with these perfectly seasoned crispy potato's that soaked up the dishes flavors but could easily be shoveled down completely alone. We came here for a late brunch after a back to back workouts (hot yoga + Zumba) so we needed very good nourishing brunch food with some mimosa. This restaurant is tiny but mighty in food in quality, the craftsmanship and service. We were blown away by their pre fix brunch menu for $26. We got two courses each and couldn't have been more satisfied. The eggs were soft and fluffy and tasted like truffles. Fried green tomatoes were masterful. Amazing restaurant that is tucked away in a nondescript building right off of the main drag in Vienna. Have just 7-8 tables in a small room, and only offer a rotating 4-course 60$ tasting menu with 1-2 choices per course, but literally everything I had here (including my cocktail) was amazing + the server was very friendly as well. My grandmother and I visited Maple Ave last night and had an absolutely delicious meal. What looks like an unassuming place is truly producing some incredible food. The service was also wonderful and accommodating. Ricardo helped my grandmother inside (she is 94 with a walker) while I parked the car and they even turned the lights up so she could read the menu better. We visited on Sunday at 5pm and had the whole restaurant to ourselves until a couple showed up at 6pm. We started with the beet soup, which was not only welcome on such a cold night, but full of so much flavor. I've never had beet soup and was a little wary of it but it was so good. We then had the mushroom risotto, which was definitely the star of the meal and was warm, chewy and aromatic. The squash paired with the crispy mushrooms was the ultimate flavor combo. We then had the pork, which was so tender. This was the least favorite of the dishes but was still very good and my grandmother ate every bite! We finished the meal with the chocolate bread pudding which was the perfect bite to end the meal, not too sweet, but enough to change the palette and feel like the meal was complete. I tell everyone about this spot because it's so unique, delicious, and there's always something new on the menu. This is my second time coming now - first was for dinner and finally checked out brunch. The server is extremely sweet, passionate about the food, and really is the reason why we came for brunch - per his recommendation! Oh and let me say, this is a no frills place, which I love because the chef really puts her attention on the menu and what she's cooking. We came for an anniversary brunch and it was amazing! My husband got the beef empanada which was so flavorful! The crepe was delicious! Too sweet to start the meal? Not at all. The dulce de leche, jam, and custard was the perfect combo. I could eat another one I ordered the pot roast sandwich and ended up switching with my husband. He liked how heavy and hearty is was. Lots of flavors and juices! Went there for Father's Day dinner. It was a fantastic experience. We made reservation online thru Resy which has asked us our diet restrictions. Usually other restaurants missed our special needs and asked again when we order food in the restaurant. I was surprised our server in Maple Ave noticed that and double confirmed with us. He is very attentive and very professional. We were well notified which dish we should be avoided. The presentation of each dish were so beautiful and adjusted to meet our dietry needed. Although I saw some reviews about the price, it is worth because we can tell the chef is really care the customers' needs. Every single dish is very delicious. I personally like the dessert the most. I have fond memories of Maple Ave Restaurant. I came twice for dinner many years ago and was treated to borderline 5-star experiences. I finally made my return to Maple Ave to check out their brunch menu and unfortunately had a far different impression. The overall deal is appealing: two courses for $26. I love to have both a sweet and savory course at brunch and this easily enabled that preference. The trouble started with the buckwheat crepe and the experience permeated the entire meal. The flavors were okay, especialy the berry sauce. And the plate was actually gorgeous. But the crepe itself was overcooked and almost crispy. As a standalone item without the accompaniments, the crepe would have been inedible. Things got better with the omelette course. The crispy potatoes delivered, and the salad was a bit unbalanced but was a nice addition to a pretty rich plate. The omelette was a rollercoaster. I've been trying to cook an omelette that is this light and fluffy for years. A+ egg preparation. My problem was with the ingredients. Plenty of sausage. But where was everything else? Modest gouda flavor. No trace whatsover of the caramalized onion. A dash of chili garlic that did not satiate my need for heat. I have not given up on Maple Ave. But my fond memories have turned mixed and at the least I will pass on the crepe next time around. read more

The pork could be more firm but still it was absolutely delicious, especially with their Smokey sauce. Wife had the pancakes with bacon. I had the salmon sandwich which was absolutely delicious. Their sauce used some kind of umami fermentation and I could sop up anything in it. Just delicious. Really high quality food and service in a non-pretentious setting. This restaurant is owned and solely operated by a couple, and it's shown with the passion they put in their dishes and service. The menu is seasonal depending on local farm ingredients, and decision with a Lithuanian twist on dishes. The brunch comes as a $26 prix-fixe option and has an appetizer and main course dish- great amount of food and quality for that price! We'll definitely be back. Almost everything about Maple Ave was fantastic. The food was to die for. We got there early so we had the place to ourselves for at least the first 1/2 hour. The service was great. The only hesitation I had is that it smelled a bit like bleach when we first walked in. That smell can be off putting and is often a sign of a bad restaurant, in my experience. It may have been that they'd just done some cleaning but still, it didn't make me feel excited about what was to come. We took the food to a local park area and ate there--unfortunately, we didn't get utensils...so we picked up some plastic spoons from a cafe where we got our drinks. Even eating from Styrofoam takeout boxes and plastic spoons, the food was AMAZING! You can definitely tell that they know what they are doing. For the 1st course, I got the pink gazpacho which was delicious! It tasted like a mix of my 2 favorite soups - borscht & bulgarian tarator. It's served cold & so refreshing. The salad was good but nothing special. For the 2nd course, the mushroom risotto blew me away. I could bathe in it! The mushroom aroma was so strong, & every bite took me to gastronomical heaven. Definitely get this over the brioche & house spreads. Not even a close comparison. For the 3rd course, I loved the shrimp. It was so wonderfully paired on a creamy bed of semolina. The tomatoes & crema brought such a nice freshness & acidity. My hubby loved his smoked fettuccine. The smokiness was perfect. For dessert, we got the bittersweet mousse & bread pudding. They also gave us complimentary Lithuanian donuts. We LOVED the donuts! They were crispy & yeasty & the caramel sauce with the berry compote was *Chef's kiss*. Nearly brought tears to my hubby's eyes b/c it reminded him of what his grandma used to make him as a child. Simple but delicious. Mousse has a nice salty/sweet balance to it. While the meal itself was super tasty, we found the value lacking. We left still hungry, & I'm 100 lb & 5 ft so it's not like I have a huge appetite to begin with. Just a bit more for each portion would do the trick. Also, the place needs some major renovation. The moment we walked in, the musty/dirty smell just hits you. That carpet needs to go. They have a very small menu that typically has just two or three choices which makes it really exciting and encourages people to try something new. I was not disappointed. The service was amazing and although the decor really lacks and takes away from the overall experience, I would still recommend this place and encourage you to go and try it. The menu changes quite frequently and I think that is something that's lacking in the general area. It's important to eat seasonally and it also keeps customers interested and coming back.
