So beautiful- tons and tons of activités to do. It doesn't matter if you feel like taking a drive though to look at nature, hiking or biking the trails or heading to the beach there's new opportunities around every corner. I the directions through the park were labeled clearly and they had a bit of everything.

Found a hidden gem Very beautiful spot for drinks and snacks. Next trip we'll definitely try out dinner. Service was excellent even though the bar was busy. You must venture out to the outdoor seating that overlooks the park and golf course. Wings were top notch crispy with just enough sauce. The cauliflower bites were delicious with just enough seasoning. Relaxing place all the tables around us were enjoying their food as well.

WV is beautiful. The resort and park here are quite pleasant. Cabin was comfortable, and breakfast in the resort building is reasonably priced. It's not gourmet but it works. I do hope they'll procure stronger coffee. Get the pancakes. A lot of views can be enjoyed from the lodge. The weight room and pool are on the small size. Yet the golf course is phenomenal. Family friendly and nice employees. Will be going back here. It's a nice break from the big city.

Lots to offer My kids and I love visiting state parks. They have so much to offer in one area. On a recent trip we passed right by this state park and decided to stop for a couple hours to stretch our legs and explore. They have great directional signs to tell you which way to go and what the park offers. We started off my heading to the swimming lake. They charge a small fee to swim at the lake. There is a small beach area. The bathroom/ shower house is very old and shows the original charm of the park. There are also several areas to hike from this parking lot. They have another section with basketballs courts, playground, nature center and pavilion. Also more hiking paths. The lodge area was recently renovated and really nice. There is a pool, hot tub, spa, restaurant, and outdoor area overlooking a golf course. The park also had a list of weekend activities to keep families entertained. Worth a stop if in the area.

Spent the weekend in April. We loved it. Clean, comfortable, well maintained. Beautiful setting, 15 min drive to Berkeley Springs to take a mineral bath and then come back to Cacapon Resort spa and have a massage with Greg ( ask for deep disuse massage, you will come out a reborn person). One disappointed was the restraunt. The service was excellent but the food..... don't go for those daily specials - terrible ( especially if it is a prime rib), if you have to eat there, choose from an appetizer menu , basic green salad is good, but not the main course. We tried prime rib and Alfredo spaghetti with scallops. Both were terrible and we left most of it. Onion soup was barely ok, chicken wings from the appetizer menu was good ( in comparison with everything else). Excellent service but terrible food at the restaurant. Lukewarm service of the hotel (reception) staff and excellent quality of the lodge accommodation. (Go figure). The spa at the lodge was a perfect middle - very good service, excellent massage ( by Greg -the best!) and very nice and clean spa setting. If you can, go midweek. Too crowded on the weekends but midweek is perfect.

Cacapon State Park is located 10 minutes from my cabin, where I primarily lived since the first days of this never-ending pandemic. With two children, and active dog, and my my family's love for hiking and adventure, you can imagine that I know this park well at this point. But, there is still so much to explore! Here are some highlights we've discovered in the past two years, knowing that there is absolutely more to discover. 1. The trails. Hiking here is ALWAYS a good idea. Four out of four seasons are beautiful. Best part of any hike? Even on weekends and holidays, even in the most beautiful of weather, the trails are (for some reason) never full of people. It's such a lovely environment, truly a "hidden gem." Recently, one of our favorite trails, I forget its name, surprised us with a newly installed rope swing from one of the tall trees. Thanks, park rangers! 2. The beach. My husband and toddler spent some days at the beach this past summer while I was working and they both declared them to be the best days ever. There is a pizza stand, lifeguards, and fellow beach-goers are friendly. 3. The recently opened Lodge! The restaurant, the decor inside, the pool, it is all wonderful. Newly opened and so far well-maintained and managed with care, it is a solidly nice place to stay, visit, and dine. 4. The playground is like three playgrounds in one. If you have little kids, go there immediately. My favorite part is the tiny play cabin with a kitchen inside. 5. Apparently there is a dog park now, recently opened in 2021. Will check it out soon and report back! Additionally, you can rent boats, you can fish, you can reserve event spaces. We have seen beautiful weddings and fun parties hosted at the state park. Horseback riding, golfing, you can rent cabins within the park... need I go on? Visit Cacapon State Park today!

This is our third or fourth time eating at Prospects; we usually sit in the dining room versus the bar area as I'm not in favor of TVs in an area where were eating a meal. This little gem is located inside Cacapon Sate Park. It's a lovely drive up to the restaurant and through the park and I highly recommend giving it a visit. Sorry for just two pictures, but I can explain! Hubby and I both ordered the cheeseburger on a crisscross bun with a side of french fries. I have to say, it was a very good burger; at least in my top four for this general area. My dessert was some concoction of caramel, cake, mousse with a crunch in there someplace. I forget the name of what it was, but it was REALLY good. Hubby ordered the berry pie and said it was OK but in all fairness, I make pies from scratch using lard so it's hard to duplicate at a restaurant what I do at home. Lol. In warmer months, they have outdoor seating overlooking the golf course and mountains. It truly is a treat for the eyes as well as the stomach so be sure to give this little place a try! And if you're into spas, you'll definitely want to check their spa out. It's not a day spa like everywhere else in the area but a true resort spa. It's a great couples getaway as the guys can go golfing and the gals can make a spa day of it.

Stopped by for a snack and drink in early October. What friendly staff and delicious crab soup! The weather was incredible so we sat outside and soaked up the mountain air. I definitely recommend the crab soup -- very creamy and big hunks of crab. Afterwards we drove around the park and was so impressed by how clean and relaxing the lake was, there were also a bunch of hiking trails we will check out next time. Thanks Nathan for being a great server!

I called Hampton in Inwood and explained then asked if they could refund as we had not even been the hotel. The desk clerk 'No she could not help me because I was digitally checked.' I said thank you and hung up. The current Hampton Inn clerk said that they checked the room and refunded people occasionally for the same thing. So I called the Inwood Hampton Inn again asked nicely after explaining what the current HI Desk Clerk had said. The Inwood Hampton Inn clerk said "Well that is why you should not digitally check in until you are here" I had to take my two overstimulated overtired children to the car crying while they had a complete meltdown in the parking lot as they begged to please let them go to sleep in a bed. I drove thirty minutes away to the Inwood Hampton Inn and put my kids to bed. While the room was clean and organized, I am not staying at this one ever again because I can't think of anything to make up for such behavior from the desk clerk. I don't know why she was rude and disrespectful with both her tone and words but I am definitely disappointed with Hampton Inn Inwood. I wouldn't stay at this Hampton Inn. There are however four HI within thirty minutes of it. I would recommend the Hampton Inn in Wenchester VA as they were kind and helpful. As to what you could do... understand that the digital key has its holes in the system as does anything, so have contingency plans and empathy. The hotel is cozy, with a nice pub on site and spa. it is also just steps away from the Berkeley Springs hot springs, along with the community pool and farmers market. On the latest stay, we got a room in the newer part of the building. It is the less expensive room option, but the room is very spacious. We prefer the older portion of the hotel, in the main building. But you can't go wrong with either spots. I'd recommend getting reservations in advance if hoping to eat on site. We opted not to have housekeeping come, so would have been nice to have had a broom or dustpan handy since it's Spring and we were all bringing in mud / dirt on our shoes, but otherwise was well appointed for two people traveling with a dog (altho the 2 little side chairs could have been more comfortable, and it would have been good to have a designated place to put the dogs bowls). The staff was very accommodating when I had to change my reservation, and were all wonderful in-person, too. We ate dinner at the restaurant, which had good home-cooked food, but the young waiter needs training; he came over when we were still eating and asked what we thought about dessert. It wasn't crowded, so I don't understand why we were rushed through our meal. We didn't end up going back because there are so many other dining options in the town or nearby, but it's definitely a plus to have a restaurant on-site when traveling with a dog.

Disappointing Experience with Reservation Handling…read more I recently stayed at Home2 Suites on May 29, 2026, and unfortunately, my experience was very disappointing due to issues with my reservation. Upon arrival, my sister and I were assigned a room that was different from what I had reserved. I was informed that my original room was no longer available, despite having a confirmed booking through Priceline. This was both unexpected and frustrating, as I relied on that confirmation to ensure a smooth stay. During my conversation with staff, I was told that the property has been experiencing ongoing issues with Priceline reservations. While I understand that technical challenges can occur, this should not negatively impact guests who have confirmed bookings. It is the hotel's responsibility to either honor reservations or provide an appropriate and comparable solution upon arrival. This situation caused unnecessary inconvenience and disrupted our plans. It also raised concerns about the reliability of the reservation process and overall customer service. I hope management takes this matter seriously and implements corrective measures to prevent similar situations for future guests. Have not heard from the Corporate Office.

Come for the railfanning, stay for the history…read more I first learned about Harpers Ferry, WV while sourcing stock footage for work. I came across the same clip in a rail safety ad, which made me look up directions to Harpers Ferry from DC. The historic park/town is served by the very MARC trains that pass outside my DC window each afternoon. You can describe Harpers Ferry as *deceptively* close because it's a 90 minute train ride, with planes flying into Dulles close enough to make out the airline. Looking for hotels there, Stonehouse Bed & Breakfast was the first that came up, with great reviews. Chris was very helpful and responsive via text and email. I booked the Top Room, which was $170 for a night including taxes. The quaint B&B has three accessible floors, as the family naturally lives onsite. The first floor is the main entrance with the common/dining areas, and the patio overlooking Maryland Heights and the Potomac/Shenandoah Rivers. The second floor has more rooms, one with a full balcony. And the third floor is the Top Room, with windows overlooking each side of the vintage building. If you Google pictures of Harpers Ferry, Stonehouse is in nearly all of the shots, since the balconies are front and center of the skyline. The town itself is like a real life snow globe. But the B&B, the litany of museums, eateries and shoppes around it, as well as the train station directly across the street make it an overall ideal place to stay, be it for hiking, or for something else: A love of trains is what brought me to Stonehouse, so take note that rail traffic can be heavy in certain times of the day. But the light rumbles also helped put me to sleep in the already soft, cozy bed. A container of water was provided, and while glasses should have been cleaned of dust first, it was still a really nice touch. The room also had playing cards, ear plugs, plenty books and a whole lounge chair. Checkin was a simple set of instructions at the door with my name on it, with checkout simply being your absence at the appropriate time. In my case, I only booked an overnight stay, getting in at 8pm and leaving around 6:30am, with checkout/checkin being the traditional 11am/4pm. While I didn't stay for complementary breakfast, I did catch a stellar sunrise between the mountains, as well as nature footage from the neighboring park. All of that to say, I definitely look to return to Stonehouse B&B later this year.
