Wow what an amazing experience! It's Christmas Eve and I couldn't be happier with my choice of restaurant for this evening! Each member of the staff is incredibly proficient in their duties and was exceptionally knowledgeable of the menu. My lovely waitress, Veronica, provided incredible service from making sure my beverage was never empty to having such a wonderfully delicious recommendation for dessert which I never would have tried without her help! Of course with this being my first visit I had to try their famous pasta spun in a giant wheel of pecorino, and wow was it amazing! The flavor was so pure and direct with cheese, peppercorns, and the deliciously fresh pasta of course! Now on to this amazing dessert that Veronica had suggested... it was so packed full of flavor, do yourself the favor and get the Spuma di ciocolato bianco, fruits della passione, terra di cacao. The signature cacio e pepe dish was great, but big eaters beware! Portions are aggravatingly small! I walked out still kinda hungry after an appetizer, meal, and dessert! Once I got over my temporary amnesia, I changed my order to the lamb dish (sorry - I really don't want to type it out). While I have absolutely no regrets that I changed my order, I must say that the entire experience was a letdown. While the lamb was tender, and the sauce decent, it was nothing special to speak of. We walked from the FiDi to come here specifically for their Cacio e Pepe after seeing it on a best Italian list. I had the Fettuccine al limone and it is outstanding. Perhaps the best pasta I've ever had. My husband had the Cacio e Pepe and that was quite delicious. The service was top notch. It's a cute place, and the courtyard in the back is so lovely. My arugula pesto pasta was good. It was just very disappointing that their cacio e pepe, which they make a huge presentation of by mixng the pasta in a huge wheel of cheese before plating them right in front of you, didn't taste as good and rich as they looked. It tasted 'watery.' Otherwise, it's a cute place. Fantastic meal, great area, definitely worth all of the hype. My girlfriend and I went and started with the caprese salad and salmon tartar, both if which were phenomenal. The bucantini guanciole is the best tomato sauce I have ever had. I would recommend a glass of amazing gavi di gavi wine to pair with this. Topping it all off with ricotta cheesecake just ended the meal perfectly. While the apps are a bit on the pricey side, they are delicious and worth it. If you only go for the pasta, expect to spend about $20-25, which is a great price for NYC and the high quality. read more

What a cool place! We saw some negative reviews but after reading them, we decided that the reviewers were not reliable. We were quite satisfied with our experience and would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for at Italian dish as if it were served in Italy. The homemade tonnareli noodles were perfectly al dente and were clearly fresh, never-dried pasta noodles. My girlfriend ordered the signature cacio e pepe dish and I chose the rabbit loin. My girlfriend spent two weeks in Italy a few months ago and she remarked on how authentic the pasta preparation was. The staff that served her dish was kind enough to scrape some extra thick chunks of the parmesan cheese wheel and top off her noodles with cheesy goodness. My rabbit loin was cooked perfectly! We enjoyed our meal so much! The patio seating was a little tight, but this is normal for even some of the best places in the city. And, our server was very sweet and personable and worked hard to give us a great dining experience! If you want nationally consistent servings of Americanized, fake-talian dishes, then you might be better off going to one of the many restaurants in the touristy parts of town near Times Square. Those places are just fine if you want the same plate of spaghetti and meatballs that you had in Omaha. This place was underwhelming despite the hype around Cacio e Pepe which is what attracted me in the first place. We had the Argula salad for starters. Which was okay albeit a bit small. The guy brought the cheese wheel and rushed through it . The pasta was a thick and slightly undercooked more like Japanese style noodles and definitely not al dente. We tried the tiramisu for dessert which redeemed the rest a bit. It was tasty, light fluffy and not to sweet. read more

I tried both the cacio e pepe, which they bring out in the cheese wheel, and I tried the bucatini. They weren't bad, just super average. I was even more unimpressed with the seating in the back. We sat waaay in the back in a narrow hallway, next to the bathroom entrance and the ATM. They moved us there because the couple that was there before complained, and so they moved them to the front, then sat us in the back. I get that it's NY and there's limited seating, but it's annoying when youre moves to a spot people previously complained about.
