Very cute western theme dining room from the 1970s

We came to this place around lunchtime on a Monday. The place was not crowded. I'm very surprised because the food is amazing and the place is very cute. I definitely recommend this place , we Ordered the baby back ribs , very different texture and flavor from the ones in Miami, but it it was a pleasant surprise. They give a lot and good to share for two

I'm so shocked at the low ratings! I've been to Cowgirl a few times and have always been happy. Most recently, my visit was perfect. We came on a Sunday afternoon with no reservation and were sat immediately. The food was awesome and the service was good. The decor is amazing. They have such variety on the menu, I've yet to eat something that I didn't enjoy. Solid spot in the village!

I had a great experience and dinner at Cowgirl, so I am surprised by the "lowish" star rating on Yelp. A couple friends and I went to Cowgirl on a Thursday evening for an early dinner. I made reservations, but definitely didn't need them for that time as it was pretty empty. We were greeted by a lovely hostess and brought to a nice window corner table. Our waiter was very friendly and patient. He did not rush us at all and we were able to have a nice meal. I started with a mango margarita on the rocks as my drink. It was delicious! I do enjoy a good mango drink. We then split an appetizer of pulled pork nachos. They were fabulous and a perfect portion size to share between the three of us. For dinner, one of my friends had a quesadilla. I split an order of the pulled chicken enchiladas and catfish po' boy with my other friend. OMG. The catfish po' boy was delicious. And to be honest, I was kinda nervous to try it. I thought, how good can catfish be in NYC? Well this was delicious! It was super light and flakey. The jalapeno mayo sauce was on the side so I could control how much I wanted. It was so so good. So was the enchilada and the sauce. Everything just really hit the spot! Cowgirl also has some fun, festive decor which made eating at the restaurant all the more fun. Everyone was very happy with their food at Cowgirl and I am glad I gave it a shot. I'd definitely recommend it to others visiting the area.

The best thing I had here was the appetizer bacon wrapped pepper. Entrees were meh. Service is okay. The pie isn't bad. But don't know if that was made in house or it was bought outside. First time and last time here. Something didn't sit right in my stomach after eating here.

I have not been to Cowgirl in a few years. Unfortunately the NYSC I mentioned in my previous review closed down and I don't get to his area as much as I used to. Recently I returned to the area and after my jog I decided to treat myself to a nice lunch at Cowgirl. The interior of the restaurant was just as I remembered it. Near the entrance was the bar. To walk to the dining area you go through a small hall where a candy store stand is located (I think this is also where you can buy Cowgirl T-Shirts if you wanted). The dining area features mostly wood furniture with lots of decorations on the walls and hanging off the ceiling. It's kitschy but fun! My waitress was at my table in moments once I sat down. She took my order quickly and I had coffee in front of me in moments. I ordered "The Northerner", a three egg omelet stuffed with spinach, mushrooms and cheese. Normally it comes with Jack but I substituted Swiss. The meal also came with cheese grits and a biscuit. When I tell you that every single element of this dish was perfect, I am not exaggerating. The omelette was perfectly cooked and all the ingredients were just the right texture. The cheese grits were not just grits with shredded cheese on top. The cheese is actually cooked *into* the grits, which was wonderful! And finally, the biscuit was next level. Big, crusty on the outside but wonderfully soft on the inside and full of flavor. The entire meal was top notch. Good serve, a fun setting and wonderful food. What more can you ask for in a brunch spot? I'm really happy to see after all this time that Cowgirl continues to deliver!

A little expensive but expected for the west village. It was a good time with good drinks, creative menu. I would definitely go back

Husband and I stopped in here for a happy hour margarita during a long day of walking. We just Sa at the bar and the bartender was friendly. Frozen margaritas were tart and refreshing. Relaxed vibe with good eighties music playing. Food looked delicious but we weren't hungry yet. Would definitely recommend for a drink.

I got the chicken fried steak because my friend recommended it and I've never had it before. It was okay. There wasn't a lot of crispiness to it and the steak had hardly any flavor. Probably needed some more salt and pepper. The gravy was okay but not quite doing enough for me. The mashed potatoes were okay but needed more flavor as well.

The decor here is so fun! Definitely an eccentric atmosphere. The food was fresh and delicious- exceeded my expectations for the exterior appearance. We got a salad, quesadilla with chicken, ribs, and veggie chili. The quesadillas and salad were our favorite! The chicken in the quesadillas was so flavorful. The service was unexpectedly slow, it didn't seem particularly busy on a Wednesday night but we found ourselves waiting for the next move (ordering food, check). Nothing egregious but notable.

A decent place to stop and have bar food. If you like country music, you'll probably like it a lot. Obviously a local hangout which you can tell because people at the bar are talking to each other about the immediate area. My date and I had a burger and sweet potato fries. Nothing to write home about but a good place just the same.

    Carolina S.

"Cowgirls don't get the blues here" I've been coming here for years. But recently my boyfriend's bestie is a country fan so I thought they would enjoy this spot. And it's pretty decently priced for being in the city. I love that's it's also insanely kitsch! I love the country vibe! We arrive after the brunch time ends but before dinner. We put our names on the list. Snag some happy hour drinks. $5 Lionshead, pretty light, refreshing Pilsner, $8 lime margs and $10 flavored. Love the mango or strawberry margaritas. I keep leaning into the breaded catfish and tots. I make a lot of my own food so a gluttonous treat on the weekend is a must. There is a long bar at the front. You can choose to eat here too. There is another room with tables. There's a back room and bar for private parties and the bathrooms are downstairs. I keep getting too stuffed for the ice cream potato dessert but next time I will leave some room for sure. Also need to point out that the level of country decor here is perfection. Perfect food come country bumpkin watering hole/grub spot.

This is such a fun, southwestern-themed restaurant! I loved the style and flair in every direction and the food was fantastic too! There are great soul food options, lots of vegetarian and classics. I loved the catfish which comes either grilled, blackened or fried. Lots of people got the chili and ribs, also great cornbread! Would recommend the prickly pear margarita which you can also get frozen! This is great for a post-work outing or night out, highly recommend!

It delivered on both fronts, but I really was blown away by the wine. The sheer quantity of available wines is really impressive, and the sommelier was able to recommend a rare wine that fit our interests (a fantastic, effervescent, creamy Txakoli that had lovely fruit and minerals). Later, I tried amazing ice cider. The food rundown: -Sesame pizza Bianca: complimentary bread! This was very good and quite sizable. The bottom is entirely encrusted with sesame. -Scallop crudo (rhubarb, shiso): very good and the plating was gorgeous. Meaty scallops with tangy and pungent flavors. -Snowdance chicken (spinach, sherry, thyme): Super tender, crispy-skinned chicken in a savory sherry sauce. -Sea bass (asparagus, hollandaise): I was surprised at how remarkably well this dish worked. The asparagus was so good with the rich, buttery sauce. Definitely a smaller portion, but the chicken was huge so it balanced out. -Potatoes with ramps: Yum. Served hashbrown-style and the ramps were added as little sauce dollops. I loved the space, and by that I mean the ambience and also the literal amount of space we had to ourselves. We got to stretch out in a roomy corner booth. The room featured a lot of exposed brick and grey and utilitarian ceilings, but it manages to be cozy all the same.

David made our night. The only reason I would ever walk back into this place is to sit at the bar and let David mesmerize me. FOOD: Broccoli rabe was fresh, but I needed a steak knife to cut through it. It was very al dente. Not cut properly, which is to cut crosses in the stems. Salad was fresh and crisp, high quality fennel and greens. Lovely. Agnoletti was divine. Home made. Focaccia very good with subtle flavors and just the right crust. Olive oil, good. The front of house staff was lovely, two ladies, and a friendly guy. Super lovely. Treated us like friends. Also the busboys were all gentlemen. I loved them. They brushed crumbs off the table with panache. The only complaint is the waiter was robotic, and issued rule after rule. No smile. EX: It was a freezing night. We wanted to order appetizer's first, and have a chance to look at the menu. He couldn't do that. "I need the whole order." Then one of us wanted to order the pre fixe dinner. "You can't do that. You both have to order it." He was very cold, a robot. To enjoy ourselves, we had to push through the horrible treatment. Too bad for the waiter, when I asked about the special pasta, he butchered the pronunciation, giving me a soft pitch to teach him Italian. I blasted him. C'est la vie.
