Have ordered from here a few times, and I would say it's the best restaurant for mexican take-out in the neighborhood. From what we've had the chicken enchiladas and chicken quesadillas are excellent. I also like their steak burrito, and really anything with their black beans, which are done very well.The nachos are good - and when you order them for delivery/take-out they package all the nacho toppings separate from the chips, so you do have to do a little preparation before eating, but it's well worth it to avoid soggy chips. The rotisserie chicken is also great, especially for the price - you get to include 3 sides (make sure to get the mexican rice and black beans, you won't regret it). The 1-star reduction comes for the fish tacos which were not at all on the same page as all the other good food we have had from here. So as long as you avoid the fish tacos, you'll definitely have a good meal. read more

Chicken tacos were slamming! And the Limeade was just like how someone's granny were to make it. Only thing I'd suggest to add to the Santa Fe salad is incorporate a dressing. If it wasn't that i asked for guacamole on top it would have been way to dry for my liking. Overall it was a good experience. Its a very nice ambiance, colorful, and clean. Unfortunately I ordered wings asked for all flats, and ended up getting mixed wings. They were very crispy but dry because they didn't have enough of the actual buffalo sauce. On some of them they weren't cooked all the way through. read more

Port Washington has a number of decent Mexican restaurants but Cactus is a welcome addition for a number of reasons. The food is incredibly fresh. They use fresh ingredients and the spices in the sauces are excellent. The house smoked chicken wings are phenomenal, as are the tacos. The arroz con pollo was delicious. The guac was also really good. The prices are very reasonable as well. The service was a little slow and I assumed that part of the reason for the delay is the items are cooked fresh. There have been some comments about the service. This is a new restaurant and they are working out the kinks so give them some time to improve the service. My recommendation for the owner/operator would be to focus more on the customer. I've stood at the register while the people behind the counter are having long conversations and not paying attention to the customers. Focus on the customer! If you train your folks to do that, you will be an enormous success. read more

Okay honestly... I've been a patron at cactus cafe (sea cliff) wayyy before they opened the port one... and I have to say the port location absolutely sucks ! The people working there are sooooo rude. No one even says hello to you when you walk in the door. They make you wait 5 minutes at the counter before they come and ask you "what do you want" and it's not just one person they are all rude and totally not friendly. My tacos are always slopped on and / burritos / chips actually anything I order come out cold. Sauce containers never filled always look dirty, never any napkins in the holder. The customer service and quality suck at PW. I came to the place on seacliff again for the first time in probably 2 years and I had a wonderful experience. Tacos were steaming hot people were welcoming and friendly as always. Sea cliff location has always been 5 stars. Port is terrible. Please hire better people for PW ! read more

I've been here a few times in the past week or so and honestly I keep leaving with a sour taste in my mouth. The food is good, not great by any means, but it gets the job done at the price. The ribs are kinda tough and the chicken could be a little less dry. The fries are awful, so I'd stay away from that. The burritos are good, pretty much on par with Moe's. The lack of chips on the side is pretty dumb. The lunch special offers a salad on the side, which is nice, but I would rather it be chips. The customer service is subpar. On Saturday 1/19, I ordered a burrito with a tortilla on the side (or so I thought) but was given the "guts" on the side with a tortilla. I brought it up to the cashier (young man with glasses) and he gave me an attitude about how I ordered a burrito bowl and why it wasn't logical to have a burrito with a tortilla on the side (or something like that). I showed him that I ordered a burrito with a tortilla on the side but he still gave me the same smug attitude. He did offer to redo the order, but it was late and snowy and I just wanted to get home. If he wasn't so smug about it, I really wouldn't have had a problem. This person always seemed to have a chip on his shoulder every time I go there, so I don't think he should be in the front. He really isn't the nicest person I've met. But I really think the main problem here though is that the app is very unclear and should probably be fixed accordingly. If you want screenshots of my order details I can give them to you. You can be the judge. Additionally, the business should get in contact with Google because when I searched "cactus cafe port washington" it brought me to the Glen Cove location and I accidentally called them. That might be on Google's end, but I don't think it's the first time that has happened to a customer. Overall, for the price, it's a good place to go and the 5 dollar burritos are awesome after 10pm. But the food is good at best, nothing mindblowing. I'd rather take my business to Hickory Pit if I was in the mood for BBQ. And honestly if I had time to spare, I'd rather spend my money at Green Cactus. The location is what will keep me here. read more

I starting going to this place in Glen Cove and I loved it right away. I do find that for some reason the food isn't as good here but I can't place as to why that is and could just be me in that regard. Their food is far from overpriced and the quality is always on point. Keep it up guys, you'll go far. something is terribly wrong with this place. The glen cove location is much better. The employees here are all quite young and don't seem to be trained or managed correctly. They CAN NOT get an order correct. At least one thing about the order has always been incorrect for some reason. I believe they aren't trained correctly on how to transfer a more custom order into the register and to the cooking staff.(or perhaps the failure is with the food makers?) Many times the food is often cold as well...... At times the person working the phone has an attitude as well, which makes no sense because this place is not doing a good job. food is pretty good when they try and the prices are very reasonable. glen cove location is further away but more polite, serves hotter food, and gets the order correct. not sure what is wrong with the port washington location. this is a training and management failure and possibly growing pains issue so it may improve. If glen cove location succeeded obviously the Port location can also succeed. If I am incorrect about any of this then Port cactus needs to burn it all to the ground as far as front staff and start over. read more

What a great addition to Port! I have been going to Cactus Cafe in Glen Cove for years so I was thrilled when they opened here. It is counter service with a few tables to sit at, and they will bring your food to you which is nice. The food was great, we had the chips and guacamole, chicken enchiladas, chicken burrito bowl and quesadilla. Clearly the food is all homemade, from the tortilla chips to the enchilada sauce. The result is exceptional food which is also reasonably priced. Definitely a must try! read more

Great food, terrible staff. They have deals that they do not explain, if you go off of what is simply written on the literal wall regarding their deals, it will net you an argument with their cashiers. Specifically 3 tacos for $3 on the full moon, except for that it isn't as per their staff the night that the lunar calendar says is the full moon, but the day that they decided that the full moon falls, which is actually the first night of the moon waning. Additionally, if you show up wanting the deal to be honored, you would also have had to known that they do not honor it until after sunset, on the night after the full moon has already passed. Because this is when they decided to do it. I can only assume this is to make the deal as confusing and arbitrary as possible so people cannot make use of it. They also have a deal for $5 burritos after 10, I realized after the first time that I attempted to get a $5 burrito at 11pm that they will not automatically honor this deal unless you mention it to them, despite it being literally written on the wall, if I hadn't noticed I was charged full price, I would have missed out on this deal as well. They had to void the transaction and rerun it with the discount applied and I feel like the whole thing was them hoping I was unaware of the discounted price. Service is slow considering how much staff they have working at any given time, I have never waited over 20 mins for a burrito at their glen cove location, the food is identically delicious to glen cove, too bad the service isn't as well. If it wasn't so far from where I live I would visit their glen cove location exclusively, I have been to their Port Washington location 4 times since it has opened and each time I have left aggravated, twice without getting the food I came there for in the first place. If you are going to offer deals, like any professional business doing the same the terms should be written and it shouldn't be a guessing game, the staff should be aware of them and the customers should be able to make use of them, instead of tacos which I have been there twice now for all I got was frustration, and then Burger King from next door. read more

I had an AMAZING experience with cactus cafe tonight. This was my second time trying it. To start, the food was all PHENOMENAL!!! I had a big order of lots of different things. The cornbread is OH MY GOD just like my great grandmothers fried cornbread!! Second, I used a secondary company for placing delivery and wires got crossed. After waiting for longer than expected, I called. The order hadn't processed on their end. So, it wasn't even received. I was SO HUNGRY. She immediately apologized and told me she would cook the food and send her driver with just my order so it came straight out to me. The driver ALSO apologized once arriving with my food!!! I own a business and I know sometimes things get messed up. It is definitely not about the mess up, it's all in how you handle it. Thank you for having AMAZING customer service!! Tried Cactus for the first time tonight and got a burrito to take out. The food overall was good, very tasty for what it was. However I was disappointed at the quantity for the $9 price. I ordered the smoked brisket burrito which was supposed to have a number of toppings aside from just the meat rice and beans, however the salsa and sour cream was almost completely non-existent and the sautéed peppers & onions actually WERE non-existent. If I had wanted a simple beef rice and bean burrito with nothing else on it, I would have ordered one... for $4 instead of $9. Service was quick and staff were friendly. However if you're gonna eat at Cactus make sure you're aware you'll be paying a lot for a very small amount of food, and you might not get what you paid for. read more
