This place is directly down the road from me so I frequent it. The inside is absolutely GORGEOUS and the workers have always been so kind to me. You can catch live music on busier evenings. Prices are definitely worth it, as everything is very delicious. I see this place QUICKLY becoming a Barrhaven classic. read more

I have been visiting this awesome café for over a year now! I love this place so much. The latte is the best I've had in Ottawa and the service is always friendly and prompt. The atmosphere is just amazing, love the Parisian charm, great decour. The desserts and the food are a bit pricy but I almost always just pop in for a coffee. I don't mind the prices, so much, it seems worth it. Haven't ever had a 'high-tea' but certainly want to at some point. Great place an awesome addition to Barrhaven. read more

Tryed to go here for brunch on a sunday. Yes it was busy but nearly a third of the cafe was "reserved" so no where to sit and the staff just ignored the people in line. There were more people leaving than staying so I chose to leave and go somewhere else read more

This was pretty good, except I had a crepe and the strawberries in it were hot. That was kinda gross. I think they should use cold strawberries. Also, they have too much nutella entrées on their menu. Like, nutella isn't that good, so maybe they should cut down on it. thanks read more

Their dark roast coffee is just that, dark. And delicious. Tried strawberry crepes and they're to die for. Friend had a raisin less butter tart and she loved it! It's a cosy spot. The only annoying thing is the people who take the best seats in the place, lingering for hours on end, working on their laptops. We can never get a good seat because people loiter and sit on their computers. read more

Charming! The owners have done a great job with the decor, the coffee is very flavorful and will keep your eyes open for many hours. It can get on the busier side of things (because it's a great place) so I try to give it a miss then and go when it's less busy. My fave morning stop and a must for those in the area! I discovered Cafe Cristal by accident while I was in the "mall" area for another business and stopped in to kill time before my appointment. Since I was in a rush I only had time for a latte to-go, but a peek around the cute space ensured I would be back! I have since been able to enjoy some of their paninis, teas and desserts (My favourites are easily the croissants, especially chocolate!) While the coffee and food are good on their own, if you can spare the time it's more than worth it to stay to enjoy your treat and the adorable decor! read more

Love visiting this café and I've been multiple times now! The French feel to the cafe is really nice and the staff are always helpful! The one downfall I've found is that when it's really busy they sometimes run out of supplies which is really unfortunate but also let's you know they use all fresh ingredients, and the staff were great at helping find alternatives! read more

I really expected a great light lunch when we arrived at 12:00 on a weekday. The Cafe itself is bright (at least, near the windows, not so much in the middle) and the decor is pleasing. I especially should mention the beautiful cobalt blue, gold trimmed tea cup set on the sideboard. Service was pleasant. The disappointments were all food related. At noon, when we entered, they were all out of sandwiches. Crepes were suggested and we selected from a list of about 7 or 8 savoury crepes. We then sat down and waited for our meals. Apparently they are only able to make one crepe at a time, so if you are with other people, you should be aware that each person in your party will start eating in the order that their crepe is produced. This makes for a disjointed eating experience as the first diner will have finished their meal before the last person gets theirs. Maybe they could make the crepe base in advance and just fill and grill them as they are ordered? My crepe was chicken, cheese, spinach, tomato, and onion. Unfortunately, although the chicken was cooked, the spinach, onion and tomato were just placed inside the crepe uncooked. The raw onions were especially unpleasant; sautéing the veggies together for the filling would be the way to go; this would also be warm enough to help the cheese melt. In my crepe, the grated cheese did not melt. The crepe base was very thick, which was quite spongy and unpleasant. This thickness, along with the unheated vegetables likely contributed to the failure of the cheese to melt. I also found the crepe itself to be too sweet for a savoury filling; it was more suitable for a dessert crepe. But the crowning touch came as we were leaving. There were cartons on the counter --obviously just delivered, and not yet put away--of crepe mix. So, pretty place, pleasant service, but crepes a definite no-no. read more

Do not go to their Carlingwood mall location. Do not work for this company. My sister got hired was told to give in her two weeks at her previous job, she hardly got hours and she was then let go via TEXT MSG! They still have't paid her for her training and worst of all the manager/owner has ignored her calls to get an explaining and payment for her hours worked. She's a full time student and can't afford to be jerked around. I do not think this is how you run a business Ahmed. In hindsight this might be a good thing, because fortunately for us, the spot they are in is tragically cursed. I love supporting local but I can't support a business that takes advantage of their staff. read more
