In a very touristy area but the food is quite decent. There were a majority of native french diners here when I went so presumably the locals agree. There's a lovely retractable awning outside with outdoor seating as well as indoor seating. The space itself is moderately well kept, the service is a bit brusque but nothing egregious. Do not get the steak here - they do a great job on cooking/flavor but the cut itself isn't of that great quality so it's difficult for the final product to turn out well. [epais pave de boeuf] with ratatouille and poivre sauce - Again, the beef wasn't of great quality. I ordered 'a point' (medium), but their recommendation is to order it rare. Parts of the steak were overcooked and tough. The steak itself was stringy. The poivre sauce was mostly just butter and unnecessary. Ratatouille was lovely - heavily tomato based. This restaurant is in walking distance of Louvre Museum. Therefore, during dinner time, it can be really busy. This restaurant has both dine in and out door seating area. I recommend seating outdoor since you can see the people walking by and enjoy the nice weather. For food, I can say crepe was out of this world. It tasted really good. It was so flavorful and nothing like the other crepes I had. Pasta was good too, it was seasoned and very flavorful. I highly recommend ordering Café gourmand. The desserts tasted really good. Espresso smelled amazing and I really enjoyed my late afternoon espresso. This restaurant has Escargots too. I highly recommend visiting this restaurant, if you're in the area. I stopped here randomly on my last night in Paris. I had a nice solo seat in the corner and was able to enjoy my meal and people watch. I ordered the French onion soup as well as the baked chicken and a small carafe of wine (we definitely need this option in the US) The soup was exactly what I wanted very flavorful, nice and hot. Definitely recommend. The baked chicken I was worried would not be that tasty as I hadn't been impressed with my other options in Paris during my trip, but this did not disappoint. Great cafe/bistro in the center of Paris. You can sit inside or street side, but outside is the best. Beautiful architecture to view and people to talk with. We stopped over to this restaurant after a long flight overnight and a day spent at the Louvre. Our apartment was right across the street on Rue Echelle. We were pleased to see the menu when we looked at it outside. I am a huge fan of escargot and duck and this was a first meal in France. The Regency did not disapppoint our server was excellent and went over any questions we had. I had the 8 Escargot and Magret de Canard (Duck with apples) my wife had the Penne with chicken, my son 13 yrs old had the Penne tomato basil and my daughter had the free range chicken. Everything was amazing including the three moscow mules. The restaurant is less than a block from the Louvre. Located within walking distance of pretty much everything. We ate upstairs for a more realxing atmosphere after we were jetlagged. I wish they put the names of the servers on the receipts I would give kudos to our server as well. There weren't a lot of vegan options so I had the pasta with tomato sauce and basil, skipping the Parmesan. It wasn't terrible but kind of boring. One daughter had the ribeye steak and fries. Wandurlust is hitting me hard right now, especially with the current pandemic and California fires. I miss traveling to other places and appreciating different cultures and cuisines. I miss Paris! Café de la Régence is a restaurant in Paris' 1st Arrondissement (conveniently located near the Lourve and the Jardin des Tuileries) that specializes in traditional French cuisine using local and seasonal products. I usually don't visit the same restaurant multiple times while I'm on vacation as I prefer to take that opportunity to try something new, but Cafe de la Regence suited my needs perfectly at the time. I was seriously craving French roasted chicken aka poulet rôti (a dish I have not enjoyed since my last visit to Paris as a child) and duck confit. Moreover, they were within walking distance from my hotel and I needed a break after walking The Camino. The poulet rôti was everything I hoped it would be! Comforting. Simple, yet elegant. One bite of this classic dish and I was hit with memories of my previous trips to Paris. Their chicken was incredibly juicy/flavorful, and came with a side of jus and potatoes. The serving size was half of a small chicken rather than the whole chicken, and I found that much more manageable. We are here after a day at the Louvre. 1st off the waiter was awesome we had 6 people including 4 kids and they made room for us outside right away. He came and took our order promptly and was very responsive. We ordered snails my kids love them and he and the manager came out showed each of the kids how to pick them up with the tongs and remove them, such great service. Went here for dinner while visiting Paris and staying at a hotel nearby. The restaurant has a wonderful ambiance with great lighting and it is quiet and comfortable. It is elegant but not fancy.
