We've been wanting to try this Italian restaurant for a long time! We walked in without a reservation and did get a table on a Friday night. The cozy ambiance was perfect. The bar area is cool looking and very vintage. We were brought water right away and ordered Pinot Grigio from Italy and beer. They brought us the most delicious warm focaccia bread while we perused the menu. We ordered the Spinach Salad with Lemon Vinaigrette and their Caesar Salad... both were really really good. I loved the Lemon dressing on the spinach. For entrees, we ordered the Bolognese with Meatballs and Seared Scallops with Risotto and Spring Pea Purée. Both meals were wonderful... plated beautifully and we enjoyed every bite! Our server continued to check in and we ordered another drink. Then came dessert... we had to try! We ordered S'mores Cheesecake and the Tiramisu. Both desserts were so delicious. We did get to meet Chase the owner of the place and he was very gracious we finally made it to try his family restaurant. We'll definitely be going back again. 5* read more

Greeted and seated quickly on a Saturday night around 5:30. Reservations are recommended though. Drink prices were reasonable. We enjoyed a couple of signature cocktails. Appetizer plate of calamari, shrimp, and fish was served piping hot and excellent prepared. It was also huge considering the price. The remoulade sauce was very mild, I had hoped for a little more spice. Main dishes were also well prepared and more than adequate portions. The ambiance and service were excellent. We chose this restaurant for our anniversary dinner when it is normally more expensive than we would prefer. As a high level chef of sorts, I have high expectations especially knowing the market price of ingredients. The focaccia with olive oil was good but the oil deserves some seasoning to elevate it. The arancini was positively delicious and the highlight of the entire dinner. I ordered the quail and I was underwhelmed. Due to the "no substitutions" rule on the menu and me being diabetic my options were limited so the bok choy was sampled but left mostly uneaten. The mashed sweet potatoes were good and the candied pecans were good. The quail was good but nothing special. I wouldn't order it again. My wife ordered the pollo parmigiano and it was also good but not great. There was way too much pasta water in the bottom of the bowl. The broccoli was good, the pasta was well cooked, and the chicken was well fried and seasoned. At the end of the day, the appetizer shouldn't be the best thing you eat at an upscale restaurant. Cleveland, Tennessee is the seat of Bradley County. It generates chocolate candies, colas, laundry machines. Additionally, they pop out missionaries and more than its share of award-winning vocalists from Lee University. It SHOULD also be famous for hidden gems like Cafe Roma. We needed a bit of sanctuary and found it right down town in this charming restaurant. We can always count on attentive service and good food with more than a little flair. Make a reservation and you can usually get one of two corner tables by the front windows. The Italian faire is flavorful in the old-world style. It used to be a place we would frequent when hosting out-of-town guests, but we now go on those "just because" occasions like yesterday. Check it out! read more

While we have enjoyed Café Roma for years for Dinner, today we decided to try lunch. Give you a heads up that the menu is limited for lunch, and is a lighter fare, but it still full of flavor and will please! Also know that lunch ends at 2PM and the kitchen closes at 1:30. The staff was friendly, but one waiter was very ready to close for lunch to end and close and was very short with some other tables. Our waitress was perfect and could not ask for better! read more

I felt for 25 dollars I should have gotten a lot more chicken with the dish since it doesn't include a salad. The chicken piece was what I would feed my 4 year old granddaughter. Even the amount of pasta was too small and pasta is cheap. read more

Husband and I went for a dinner. Service was very very very slow. He ordered chicken parmesan. I had cheese ravioli. The chicken had very little parmesan crust and the spaghetti that came with it had no sauce, just watery. The ravioli was not cooked long enough. Very hard to cut through. A good Italian place for Cleveland, TN anyways but probably a 3 for Italian places against bigger cities. Bread had potential but seemed like it was missing something to make it delicious. The Fritto Misto was pretty decent. I had the Vitello Saltimbocca Dinner and I can't remember what my wife had. It was average. What a wonderful find! Traveling through and spending the night in Cleveland, Tennessee and this restaurant was recommended by our hotel. Loved everything about it. Genuine Italian dining. Great, tasty food, wonderful service and bartender who knows what he's doing! We had Caprese Salad, tomato Basil Zuppa (Best I've ever eaten!) Penne pasta with meatballs and Bolognese Sauce - Homemade. Gluten free offerings. Topped off with Crème Brûlée, which was also very good. Beth was our server and she was knowledgeable, efficient, personal, and suggested several items for us. Love this hidden gem of Cleveland. It's in such a cool part of downtown Cleveland and the food and staff are always amazing.

This is a real gem in this pretty little town. We were there to see a friend who was performing at a small music venue in town. They typically stop seating at 8:30 and were showed up pretty close to that but they were very accommodating and we didn't feel at all rushed. I had the tortellini in a cream vodka sauce and my wife had the chicken cafe Roma. Both were excellent and the portions were generous. Our friends are both vegetarian and there is a vegetarian menu as well and it has a great selection too. All in all a great find that we didn't expect and a wonderful experience. read more

Went there on a date with the wife. The place seemed like a nice hole in the wall. The environment was nice and the staff was very polite and welcoming. The food was not great though. It just didn't taste fresh and my pork was dried out. If I had to compare the food quality to a well known restaurant, I'd say it was like an Olive Garden quality meal. The worst part is that I woke up the next morning and my stomach needed to evacuate all its contents. Now I know I can't for sure blame it on this restaurant but I think it was. This place can actually be a nice dinner spot, but they need a new chef who makes better food. read more

I first visited this classy place probably 14 years ago--locals wanted to show it off. And well they should! The place ALWAYS has great, attentive serving, top-line specials and a solid, well balanced menu. The vibe is classy visual, is that's a category: for me it means you might want to dress up a bit but you don't have to. They treat everyone with respect, and fun. But you come back, and back, for the food. My go-tos are the Caesar salad, crunchy and cheesy and any of the pasta dishes. Soup specials are always worth checking out. Thank you Cafe Roma for the focaccia bread. Also recommend the Cafe Roma pasta--creamy rich pink sauce over pasta and grilled shrimp and thinly cut chicken breast. Cafe Roma has always been one of my favorite restaurants in the Chattanooga area, but last night was truly disappointing. Normally I would give Cafe Roma a five star rating but I have to give my last dining experience a failing score of 2. My sweetheart and I ordered the filet mignon medium rare. Mine was over cooked and not even pink on the inside. The roasted potatoes were simply warm and some of the potatoes were far from done. We also ordered asparagus, but we were served nothing but asparagus stalks and they were almost cold. My sweetheart and I really love the place and will be back for another try. Being an Italian New Yorker for 65 years and coming South, this restaurant is the best. The only one down here that actually resembles a true NY Italian restaurant. Reminds me of Bamonte in Brooklyn but smaller. Classic Caesar salad was very good, I had Pollo Parmigiano with broccolini and Cappellini Agio E Olio. Fantastic. My son had the Pene Bolonese with meatballs. Their meatballs are 50/50 beef and pork. Their red sauce was spot on. My son had the S'mores Cheesecake and I had their Peach Ice Cream with Peach vodka. What was very nice to see was all the wait staff assisted each other in delivering food, especially to the large groups. Our waitress was exceptional. I have been to Cafe Roma for both lunch and dinner. I have had great experiences there. The food is really tasty. I have had the ROMA INSALATA salad that was awesome and mushroom bisque which was so silky and so tasty. I have also had the PENNE BOLOGNESE that was also so good and satisfying. The meatballs were great. They also have a really nice cocktail and wine selection. I have tried the Italian Prosecco, Empress 75 and their wine. So tasty!! I recommend them all. Everyone in my party enjoyed their meals as well. Salmon and scallops were a couple of other things ordered and they loved them. Also I have always had great service there, everyone is very nice. Really nice ambiance in a charming older building. Also they are extremely knowledgeable and flexible with gluten allergy issues which is really really good to find. read more
