Avocado caesar salad, Pumpkin Chorizo soup and Honey Bacon Club sandwich
    Dale B.

I've been to this Cafe Zupas location a few times as it's near my house. It's always pretty clean and well-lit on the interior. The interior is pretty narrow near the line for ordering but opens up in the dining area. You start by entering the line to place your order (salad & sandwich station followed by soup and dessert station). They make your salad and sandwich after being ordered and you can customize as your wish. *Nut allergy warning* - This place is not safeguarded for those with nut allergies. One of the most egregious displays is their nut bin containers for adding nuts to the salads is behind all of the other veggies and salad toppings, and at a full arms reach for the employees, thus very easy to drop nuts in the other bins and cross-contaminate The soups are all pre-made in a big container that always has that congealed film on top until stirred up. They typically have 9 soups available (8 permanent and 1 seasonal). Right now the seasonal is the Pumpkin chorizo and it's amazing, so I highly suggest it. They took away my favorite soup- the roasted red pepper and lobster. Hopefully they bring it back as most of their other soups are more bland. The meals come with a roll and a chocolate dipped strawberry. They also come with a pretty heavy price tag for what you're getting. My wife got the honey bacon club and the sandwich was 90% bread with a thin slice of ham and non-visible bacon. It couldn't cost them more than $1 but it's $8.19, close to the price of a fully loaded 6" sub sandwich anywhere else. They have a coke fountain and some custom honey-sweetened drinks. None of the drinks impressed me. I typically just get a water cup as soda doesn't pair well with the soups and salads. Overall this place is average for the money. Some of their soups are pretty tasty but the sandwiches and salads are very ordinary for a lofty price.

came here on lunch with my husband for a quick lunch date! i discovered this place from my work who has catered from here a couple of times and it has consistently been so good! we both did the try 2 combo where you get to choose 2 items between either a sandwich, soup, or salad. i got the italian club with the avocado caesar and it was so yummy! for $13 and the amount of food you get (full sandwich, half salad, a roll AND a chocolate dipped strawberry) - what a deal! we will absolutely be back. staff was incredibly nice too and greeted us when we walked in!

Was in a rush and needed to get lunch quickly. I didnt want to sacrifice quality and go through a drive-thru. I used the Cafe Zuppa app to easily place my order and selected asap. The order was being packed when we got there. I saw someone in the back making a soup/dressing fresh. Our order was perfectly made fresh and so good! We will definitely grab food from here again!

My mom and I were famished after doing some car shopping down the road and we just happened upon this place. I sooooo wish we had this in Tucson! They have soups, sandwiches, salads, and bowls. Both my mom and I opted for a salad. I got the chipotle glazed and my mom got the avocado Caesar. We each got the half order and it was big! And so good! Exactly what we were craving. I especially loved the dressing on my salad and all of the ingredients just worked perfectly together. And what a nice surprise that a delicious roll and a chocolate dipped strawberry comes with your order! Love that. We also each got a fountain drink and they have several fun in-house options. My mom loved the raspberry citrus infusion and I liked the sunshine shot. Service was quick and friendly and place was clean. Only complaint is that it was somewhat cold in there. Overall a great experience and next time I'm in the Phoenix area I will make a specific effort to come back here! It's that good.

Thank You Matthew for the recommendation of the Strawberry Harvest salad. I have been stuck on the Mangoberry salad because I loved it. I did want to venture out since the Mangoberry was the salad of choice for me 5 times in a row. I did love the strawberry harvest as well. Cafe Zupas did not disappoint. Thank You to Peter as well for being welcoming and energetic.

Fast casual restaurant. Service was quick and everybody was friendly. My southwest potato & green chili soup was good but could have been warmer. My avocado Caesar salad didn't really taste like a Caesar. The lettuce was not chopped well and the dressing wasn't mixed into the salad well. Half of it had no dressing at all.

Great Food, but Cleanliness Could Improve This is our go-to for date nights when we want something simple, filling, and a bit on the healthy side . The food is consistently good, and we've never left disappointed--that's exactly why we keep coming back . On our last visit, I had the grilled cheese brisket on white bread with tomato soup , while my husband enjoyed the Nuts & Berries salad with vegetable & chickpea soup . I also tried the mango mocktail --delicious! Now for the one thing that could be better cleanliness. When preparing food, it's important not to wipe gloves on clothing or aprons and then continue handling food ‍. I usually request new gloves when my food is made, just to be safe . Also, the tables are often not clean when we arrive, and we usually have to ask for one to be wiped down . Overall, we love the food and will keep coming back --but we'd love to see more attention paid to food handling and table cleanliness soon .

Sandwich (can't remember which) & lobster bisque (which he loves)

My husband and I came here this past Thursday evening around 8pm after traveling from Tucson. We were trying to find a sandwich and salad spot that we went to some months ago and really enjoyed. I'm happy to say this was the spot! Everything here hit the nail on the head and exceeded my expectations from the cleanliness to the hospitality to the quality of the food. One of the associates, whom I spoke to most had great banter. When I asked about the Dubai chocolate shake, he let me know, unfortunately that they were all out. He also informed me on the process and how the cream was being imported from Italy as we spoke and encouraged to come back and try it. I did...at a different location but that's a different review for a different location (let me say the Zuppa locations are not all equals!!) Anyway, he spoke to me about the freshness of the ingredients they use and how they make the soups daily and bring in fresh produce that's used in the restaurant as well. From looking at the menu and the food in front of me, I wanted a little bit of everything, however I chose the curry dish as well as some of the chicken noodle soup which typically I would never buy as I feel it's basic, however after tasting a few of the soups, the chicken noodle was so good. I had to get it. My husband got a sandwich and the lobster bisque which he loved as much as he did last time. All meals come with a roll and chocolate covered strawberry, which is so unique! Of course we loved our meals. This place is cemented as a favorite for us and a must stop when we go to Phoenix now!

I thought Cafe Zupas was a good lunch spot that is a great concept. It's basically a soup and sandwich spot, however the soups are very good. The sandwich wasn't too bad either, however the soups and desserts seemed to be the major draw. The ambiance was more upscale than I thought, however overall it was still very casual. There was plenty of seating and the restaurant was very clean. The food is served very quickly and all meals come with a complementary chocolate dipped strawberry. The best soup we had was tomato basil - a must try even in hot Arizona. The prices were fair, not a great deal, but on par with other major competitors. It was a nice place to dine-in as well, and they do have a good selection of beverages. Overall, a good lunch spot in Gilbert and definitely worth checking out again!

They had tables on the outside, which would have been nice to sit at. The weather has gotten cold and rainy, so we were planning on sitting indoors. All of the tables were full and not cleared because there was a large lunch rush. The line to order was also crowded. The stanchions for the line were not set up very well and people were a little confused where they should stand and line up. We had to wait in line for quite a while, but once we got to the front, it was a bit faster to order and to pay. They had a variety of soda machines and lemonade dispensers in the dining area. The lemonade was very weak, and didn't taste very strongly of lemon. I tried two of the different lemonades, and they were both quite weak. They also ran out of the plastic forks and the other utensils. I had the tortilla soup and the lobster bisque soup. They were both tasty. The lobster bisque soup was sweeter than the tortilla soup. I liked the flavor of the lobster bisque soup a little better than the tortilla soup. I didn't notice until later that they had crackers in the condiment area near the soda machines that you could use in order to put into your soups. We also got a pesto chicken sandwich. The chicken sandwich was nice and crispy on the outside, but soft on the inside of the bread. I couldn't really taste the pesto in the chicken sandwich, but it was not dry and I liked that it was a moist sandwich. The meal came with chocolate covered strawberries and a piece of bread.

Salad had a bolt / screw at the bottom

I bought a salad for my mom at this location and posted, got an email from Yelp yesterday, they said because it wasn't my salad I couldn't write the review. So they removed it. This is a purchase I made and a real situation that happened at this location. A large bolt / screw was at the bottom of my mom's salad, management needs to better train and supervise this locations. This is completely unacceptable and gross.

One clearly was training. I asked for a sample of the tortilla soup. As I looked through their choices of protein, the selections looked stale. I couldn't bring myself to try it. It wasn't appetizing at all. The water choices from the fountain drinks were not marked. You can see a spout but you have to guess which is carbonated or regular. I know for a fact that management can do better than that. The restaurant was clean but with an empty restaurant, there is no reason to have stacked dirty dishes in the basin. It shouldn't be so hard. My granddaughter had their tortilla soup but like me, couldn't make herself add any toppings. They looked like they'd been there all day. Hope they turn it around quick.

They are known for their oven that melts all of your goodies on your tacos or enchiladas together in a ceramic bowl. You typically have a good choice of meats and vegetarian options as your filling, but on the night I dined here they were out of the bison (my first choice of protein) and the short ribs. I ended up ordering one green Chile pork and one chicken enchilada, topped it with cheeses, salsas, sauces, pickled onion and more. The enchiladas and drink already rang up to just under $20 so I bypassed a side (would have bought the spicy cornbread). For a better value, the lunch special is $15 for your entree, a side and a drink, which would save about $5 vs standard dinner prices. The meal didn't cook quite long enough in the oven because I didn't get any crisping of the tortilla, gooey melting of the cheese or hardening of the juices in the bottom of the bowl (just wetness). This took away some of the expected flavor profile. While the employees were friendly, they kept their iced tea behind the counter so I had to have them fill my cup up twice. I always like a blend of ~2/3 unsweet tea and ~1/3 sweet tea...but when the tea ratios are out of my control I just asked for half and half. The first time it was too sweet so my refill I asked for unsweet only. The interior is nice, spacious, well-lit and clean. Despite the parking lot for this complex was full with cars winding up and down every row looking for a spot, there was only one other customer in the store during primetime dinner hours. Clearly, Gadzooks is not the hot location in the Epicenter. Overall, my first experience at Gadzooks Gilbert was just okay. I was disappointed they were out of my first protein choices and my meal was not in the oven long enough. But it's not a complete dealbreaker as I could see myself eating here again in the future.

One thing they do very well is efficiency without losing hospitality. They have both a dine-in ordering counter and a dedicated to-go counter, which seems necessary because this place stays packed. Even during busy times, the staff stays friendly, attentive, and organized. You can tell there's real attention paid to each order and that management understands how to run a smooth restaurant operation. The menu has a lot of solid choices whether you want something lighter, comforting, vegetarian, or protein-packed. My only note is that the bread edges were toasted a bit too dark for my taste, leaving a slightly burnt crust flavor and aroma. Entrées I ordered the Seared Scallops ($48), which were plated with white potatoes, purple potatoes (possibly ube), and sausage over a rich sauce. Unfortunately, the purple potatoes had a burnt taste that was off-putting, and I wasn't able to finish much of my meal. My husband, on the other hand, thoroughly enjoyed his Grilled Striped Bass ($48), beautifully plated and well-executed. Final Thoughts While my entree missed the mark this visit, Andrew's outstanding service and the overall ambience more than carried the experience. The space is gorgeous, the concept is lovely, and I can absolutely see returning when the seasonal menu refreshes. In my opinion, it's worth a second chance, we will be back.

I've had pho from here twice but both times were a bit different from each other…read more The first time we came in we ordered an order of spring rolls, I got pho, my mom got a Vermicelli noodle bowl and we also both got a thai tea. It was the closest pho spot to us at the time & it did it's job at satisfying our craving. The next time we stopped by we came here because it was the only place that stayed open a bit later than other spots. Our pho, thai tea, & black tea were good but for some reason our appetizers (wontons & egg rolls) were way too greasy and not very flavorful.

Next to the hotel where we stay when we visit family, is a shopping center. One day, I noticed…read morethat they had a Pho place in there. When our grandsons and their Dad came by later that day, I asked them if they were willing to try Vietnamese food. We gave them a description as to what Pho was and let them know that there were other items on the menu besides Pho. They all were willing to give it a try. One grandson didn't come along as he has a part-time job and had to work that day. Once we all entered the restaurant, we were greeted and seated. I ordered my usual Pho Ga and my husband plus our son-in-law also had the same thing. One grandson ordered a Pho that had beef in it. The other grandson isn't a fan of soups so he ordered a fried rice and chicken meal. The Pho portion was very generous and the aromatics were fresh. Everyone who had Pho enjoyed their meal. Our grandson, who got the chicken and fried rice, liked his meal. The ambiance is that of a casual place with some artwork on the walls. If we lived nearby, we would gladly go here again. The staff was friendly and attentive without being overbearing.
