I've been to this Cafe Zupas location a few times as it's near my house. It's always pretty clean and well-lit on the interior. The interior is pretty narrow near the line for ordering but opens up in the dining area. You start by entering the line to place your order (salad & sandwich station followed by soup and dessert station). They make your salad and sandwich after being ordered and you can customize as your wish. *Nut allergy warning* - This place is not safeguarded for those with nut allergies. One of the most egregious displays is their nut bin containers for adding nuts to the salads is behind all of the other veggies and salad toppings, and at a full arms reach for the employees, thus very easy to drop nuts in the other bins and cross-contaminate The soups are all pre-made in a big container that always has that congealed film on top until stirred up. They typically have 9 soups available (8 permanent and 1 seasonal). Right now the seasonal is the Pumpkin chorizo and it's amazing, so I highly suggest it. They took away my favorite soup- the roasted red pepper and lobster. Hopefully they bring it back as most of their other soups are more bland. The meals come with a roll and a chocolate dipped strawberry. They also come with a pretty heavy price tag for what you're getting. My wife got the honey bacon club and the sandwich was 90% bread with a thin slice of ham and non-visible bacon. It couldn't cost them more than $1 but it's $8.19, close to the price of a fully loaded 6" sub sandwich anywhere else. They have a coke fountain and some custom honey-sweetened drinks. None of the drinks impressed me. I typically just get a water cup as soda doesn't pair well with the soups and salads. Overall this place is average for the money. Some of their soups are pretty tasty but the sandwiches and salads are very ordinary for a lofty price. read more

came here on lunch with my husband for a quick lunch date! i discovered this place from my work who has catered from here a couple of times and it has consistently been so good! we both did the try 2 combo where you get to choose 2 items between either a sandwich, soup, or salad. i got the italian club with the avocado caesar and it was so yummy! for $13 and the amount of food you get (full sandwich, half salad, a roll AND a chocolate dipped strawberry) - what a deal! we will absolutely be back. staff was incredibly nice too and greeted us when we walked in! read more

My mom and I were famished after doing some car shopping down the road and we just happened upon this place. I sooooo wish we had this in Tucson! They have soups, sandwiches, salads, and bowls. Both my mom and I opted for a salad. I got the chipotle glazed and my mom got the avocado Caesar. We each got the half order and it was big! And so good! Exactly what we were craving. I especially loved the dressing on my salad and all of the ingredients just worked perfectly together. And what a nice surprise that a delicious roll and a chocolate dipped strawberry comes with your order! Love that. We also each got a fountain drink and they have several fun in-house options. The food is consistently good, and we've never left disappointed--that's exactly why we keep coming back . On our last visit, I had the grilled cheese brisket on white bread with tomato soup , while my husband enjoyed the Nuts & Berries salad with vegetable & chickpea soup . I also tried the mango mocktail --delicious! Now for the one thing that could be better cleanliness. When preparing food, it's important not to wipe gloves on clothing or aprons and then continue handling food ‍. I usually request new gloves when my food is made, just to be safe . Also, the tables are often not clean when we arrive, and we usually have to ask for one to be wiped down . My husband and I came here this past Thursday evening around 8pm after traveling from Tucson. We were trying to find a sandwich and salad spot that we went to some months ago and really enjoyed. Anyway, he spoke to me about the freshness of the ingredients they use and how they make the soups daily and bring in fresh produce that's used in the restaurant as well. From looking at the menu and the food in front of me, I wanted a little bit of everything, however I chose the curry dish as well as some of the chicken noodle soup which typically I would never buy as I feel it's basic, however after tasting a few of the soups, the chicken noodle was so good. I thought Cafe Zupas was a good lunch spot that is a great concept. It's basically a soup and sandwich spot, however the soups are very good. The sandwich wasn't too bad either, however the soups and desserts seemed to be the major draw. The ambiance was more upscale than I thought, however overall it was still very casual. There was plenty of seating and the restaurant was very clean. The food is served very quickly and all meals come with a complementary chocolate dipped strawberry. The best soup we had was tomato basil - a must try even in hot Arizona. The prices were fair, not a great deal, but on par with other major competitors. It was a nice place to dine-in as well, and they do have a good selection of beverages. Overall, a good lunch spot in Gilbert and definitely worth checking out again! read more

They had tables on the outside, which would have been nice to sit at. The weather has gotten cold and rainy, so we were planning on sitting indoors. All of the tables were full and not cleared because there was a large lunch rush. The line to order was also crowded. The stanchions for the line were not set up very well and people were a little confused where they should stand and line up. We had to wait in line for quite a while, but once we got to the front, it was a bit faster to order and to pay. They had a variety of soda machines and lemonade dispensers in the dining area. The lemonade was very weak, and didn't taste very strongly of lemon. I tried two of the different lemonades, and they were both quite weak. They also ran out of the plastic forks and the other utensils. I had the tortilla soup and the lobster bisque soup. They were both tasty. The lobster bisque soup was sweeter than the tortilla soup. I liked the flavor of the lobster bisque soup a little better than the tortilla soup. I didn't notice until later that they had crackers in the condiment area near the soda machines that you could use in order to put into your soups. We also got a pesto chicken sandwich. The chicken sandwich was nice and crispy on the outside, but soft on the inside of the bread. I couldn't really taste the pesto in the chicken sandwich, but it was not dry and I liked that it was a moist sandwich. I bought a salad for my mom at this location and posted, got an email from Yelp yesterday, they said because it wasn't my salad I couldn't write the review. So they removed it. This is a purchase I made and a real situation that happened at this location. A large bolt / screw was at the bottom of my mom's salad, management needs to better train and supervise this locations. Ordered soup, when I got to my table, I realized the soup was not hot. It was barely warm. I took it back up to the register, and politely let the cashier know that my soup was not hot. She told me they could not take it back to go dump it out and they would get me more soup, which they did again it was not hot. I stuck my finger in it and told her it was not hot. She then told me that it was fresh. I understand that it could be fresh, but it was not hot. She told me if I didn't like it to go dump it out so I did. I then asked for a manager and was told that they had accidentally unplugged the steam table and the soup was not hot. They were so rude. This is the last bad experience. I'm having at any café Zupas the last time I ate soup there that was not hot. I got food poisoning and was sick for three days. This used to be one of my favorite places never again. read more

Dang! What happened to cafe zupas? I wanted to order dessert. The display case looked like there is a recession. There were only a few pieces of cheesecake in there. I asked if they stopped carrying brownies and she said since last week. I didn't ask about all the other desserts that are non-existent. Ordered pesto chicken on white. I got wheat. The bread was very doughy like it wasn't baked long enough. I had to stick it in my air fryer to try and crisp it and make it less doughy. I probably won't be back. I have to say that Zupas is now my new favorite restaurant after the wonderful service that the staff provided me, and the fast and speedy way they prepared my food really impressed me, yet the food came out looking great. What pleasantly surprised me when I got the counter they offered me a free chocolate strawberry and bread roll with my meal. When I got to the drink bar I was so happy that the offered fruit refreshers, I got the raspberry citrus crush and it went great with my meal, while talking about food I got the try 2 combo with a brisket grilled cheese and a strawberry harvest salad. They have a variety of Soups, Sandwiches and Salads to custom order with a wide selection of toppings. They even have a variety of desserts and baked goods to choose from. Because it is a fitting place for brunch and lunch make sure to plan for the rush. I like the option for the half and half combo of soup/ salad and sandwich. And the bonus is a CHOCOLATE COVERED STRAWBERRY with your combo. The CRAB AVOCADO MELT was made panini style. I didn't get a lot of crab meat or flavor of crab shining through but it was overall good. The NEW ENGLAND CLAM CHOWDER was more of a liquidy soup. It was a runny cream broth as opposed to the thick traditional chowder we have come to know. It had a good rich flavor but I was disappointed that I was missing the heartiness that I prefer. "The greatest wealth is health." These days who is not in a rush! When we run, run, run; we have to remember our health. Recently, I discovered this place when I was searching for something for lunch new for lunch! Choices choices! Let's explore the menu! How do I know what I want? If you don't, the menu comes complete with images plus words to help the ordering. The pictures included with the bright menu board help you complete your order. The staff are highly attentive to the guest, since while being unfamiliar with their menu it was a breeze to order. The choices were given to me verbally, but I could see from the pictures on the menu what was what on the salad. As the crew member made my salad she moved steady and efficiently as each layer completed my meal to go. The picture on the menu board nearly matched what was presented to me in the finished product. Excellent advertising and service. I'm just discovering this place now. Who would of known that Zupas was so inviting and delicious. The menu has something for everyone, with many choices of different dietary needs too. Always ask for Vegan and glutten choices before ordering: some restaurants have special options only available as word of mouth. The service was excellent here, but after everything was all bagged and put together a few issues arose. The check out process went well, but their are long lines for lunch here. The food is that good. After being rung up for my salad and extra strawberries a ding of the card the transaction was completed. After getting to the car, I realized that the dozen strawberries that I ordered were absent from the bag; but a check of the receipt shows they were charged to me. Do you go back inside for the dozen strawberries that were not in the bag, but paid for? Yes, you betcha ya! That line so long. I had to re-stand in that line too! When I approached the cashier at that rung me up, I was told to go to the back of the line. This is why I dropped the stars. Not because I had to go to the back of the line, but the cashiers attitude was raw and uncalled for. As I tried to approach and ask about the missing strawberries, I felt alienated as her cold glare stared me down and her finger pointed to the end of the line. As I approached the front of the line I had to re-explain the situation to a new cashier. Who walks off and forgets something? That was the question posed to me by this new cashier. I simply explained that the salad and extra dessert cup were in the bag but the strawberries were not. After much explaining I was able to leave with the strawberries that I paid for. Success! Those strawberries were worth the wait too. They were not just for me, but the twins would of been disappointed if I did not bring them home. After all the issues that arose here I would eat here again. Next time I will use curb side pick up! It saves on our most precious or resources; time. Check, check your order before you leave the presence of the restaurant staff. Learn from my mistakes. Now let's eat to our health all the fresh foods that the staff made for me. My pregnant self was craving cafe zupas! I had them deliver it to my house since I've been so lazy to drive lately. I had their pesto chicken sandwich with strawberry harvest salad. When I got my salad I noticed the strawberry on the salad was dirty. I didn't want to eat that so I just threw my salad away .. made me feel sick when I seen it.. ahh makes me wonder if they ever wash their fruits and veggies. The pesto chicken sandwich was good.
