Visited twice in the last 2 weeks and enjoy their chicken salad sandwich and prime rib steak. Food is good, store is busy but they are incredibly s-l-o-w!!!!! With a drive thru, tons of to go orders and people in restaurant they dont have enough staff. Their flow is poor, don't be in a rush to eat, you'll have to wait! Waited to have sandwiches made and then paid. Had to ask twice for our soup. I stood in front of the cashier as I knew he'd forget. He told me I need to wait a minute, he was so scattered brained. We've experienced his service before. Just wish it was better organized and quicker service. They had at least 5 people working, but geeze!!! read more

I am filing a complaint regarding the horrible customer service I experienced at the Potbelly location in Gilbert, Arizona on Market Street during the evening shift. From the moment I began ordering my food, one of the female crew members was extremely rude and unprofessional. She was huffing, puffing, rolling her eyes, and acting visibly irritated while taking my order. I remained respectful and simply asked how much it would cost to add chips and a drink to my meal. Instead of answering politely, she became even more rude and acted as if helping me was a problem. At that point, I told her she was being rude and asked if someone else could help me. Her response was more eye rolling and attitude. She made no attempt to fix the situation or speak professionally to me. Another employee who identified herself as the lead came to the window, but unfortunately, her customer service was just as disappointing. Instead of asking what happened, trying to resolve the issue, or showing any concern for the way I was treated, she acted as if she did not care at all. There was no apology, no attempt to make the situation right, and no professionalism shown. I ended up declining the additional items because after being treated that way, I no longer wanted to spend extra money there. I only kept the sandwich because it had already been made. The customer service from both the crew member and the lead was completely unacceptable, immature, and unprofessional. The staff appeared very young, and it honestly felt like there was little to no customer service training provided. Businesses should hire employees who know how to respectfully communicate with customers, especially people working directly with the public. I later called to try to speak with a manager and was informed the manager would not be available for another two days. This experience was disgusting and disappointing, and because of how I was treated, I will never return to this location again. read more

I worked up an appetite while running errands. This Potbelly Sandwich Shop location was in the shopping center I happened to be in so I decided to give it a try. It was after the lunch rush at the time of my visit, so there were only a few people dining at the time. The restaurant was clean and had plenty of seating indoor as well as a few tables outdoor. Potbelly Sandwich Shop is a fast-casual restaurant. I placed an order on one end of the counter and pick up my order at the other end. The team member behind the counter was pleasant and helpful as I asked questions. I was a bit disappointed that they didn't offer any gluten-free bread options, but obviously was not a deal breaker for me. They also only offer three options for your sandwich: white, multigrain, and flat. I ordered the tuna salad (sandwich only) which comes with 100% albacore tuna salad, swiss, and your choice of toppings such as lettuce, tomatoes, onions, etc on multigrain bread. I was pleasantly surprised by the tuna salad sandwich. It was quite tasty and the ingredients seemed fresh. I will definitely consider Potbelly Sandwich Shop again next time I need a quick bite! read more

I hadn't been here in years, and had never stayed and eaten inside the restaurant before. I had only ordered on line and taken it "to go". I love their multigrain bread for their sandwiches! I was a bit confused on how to order, and that I was to stop at the area where they add extra stuff like lettuce, and other toppings. No one addressed me so I went straight to the register. After I was seated I realized my sandwich had no mayo or anything. I walked back up and told them my sandwich didn't have any mayo and could I please get some. One girl working drive through sort of rolled her eyes. Granted this was all my fault, but I was then addressed by the employee who took my order. She told me I hadn't mention mayo, and I had walked past the toppings area to the register so she thought I didn't need anything. I continued to tell her "My fault! My fault! It's all me" (which I told her when I got there I hadn't been there but only once before and ordered on line), but she seemed to want to make a point that she wasn't the one who made the mistake. Then....she said okay have a great day and called me honey for the second time in our meeting. Please don't call me honey unless you are a woman of mature age, such as my Grandmother, and especially not from someone who is less than half my age! It's our first time here and the overall ordering system was really weird and we were really confused especially because the employees were rushing us and wouldn't make it clear how the ordering system worked. You pick your sandwhich and then go to the next isle and tell them what you want on the sandwhich. So we did and I listed the ingredients I wanted on it and when I got it it had mayo and hot peppers which I didn't ask for, so when we brought it back up being polite saying we didn't want mayo or the peppers the employee started arguing saying that's how it comes and I should have specified but when we asked originally he said let me know what you'd like on it. The sandwiches seem a bit small when compared to Subway sandwiches. Not sure why. Maybe they are more compact and the fillings came separately. I like that the tomato and lettuce were separate along with the pickle. Sometimes juicy or wet fillings make the bread soggy before I get it home. I am glad Potbelly kept it separate. Lettuce, tomato and pickles seem like they could make my sandwich soggy. When I ask for spreads or sauces on the side it sometimes makes my food bland. I thought that my sandwich tasted a bit bland. I would recommend that others not put their sauces or spreads on the side. That is, if they don't mind the spread or sauce flavor. It's good to try out the first time on the side to decide first. This is one of those places that we go fairly regularly and I don't ever think of reviewing. Let's change that. I've used the drive through once and it is pretty convenient, but we usually go into the shop. It's a standard Potbelly sandwich shop and they have the usual offerings from that chain. They can be fast or slow depending on the crowd, online orders and staffing. Once your order is taken, though, things move pretty fast. I've had most of the sandwiches and they're consistently served on fresh, toasted bread with fresh vegetables and warm meat, melted cheese. The cookies are a family favorite: either the oatmeal chocolate chip or the double (triple?) chocolate extravaganza are the popular ones. I like adding the spicy Italian pepper mix (giardiniera) to my sandwiches. The big sandwich can easily be split by two people. read more

We have had back to back bad experiences at this store. Used to be our go to for sandwiches but the last two visits were not good. The first one my husband's flatbread was so hard he could not eat it. He could only eat the filling with a fork. We went back after a few weeks to give them another chance. We asked them to not toast the flatbread to see if that helped. My sandwich was still rock hard and actually crumbly so inedible bread again. My husband's sandwich was missing the hot peppers he requested. So twice burned I guess means we will be searching for a new sandwich shop. It's been a while since I've been back to this Gilbert location due to the poor quality and dirtiness of the restaurant but this recent trip has surprised me. Restroom was clean and the dining area was clean and picked up. The sandwiches we ordered were made like the first time experience at a potbelly's. Food was good and the kids meals were a good portion for my little ones. This location has a drive thru, private parking lot, and a few outdoor seatings. Individual room restrooms. Not sure what has changed, but Potbelly seems to be declining a bit. Mostly because the meat in the sandwiches seems to be less than before. In this case, we had a coupon for their pastrami sandwich. A bit less meat than I expected based on past experience with Potbelly. But in terms of quality, their sandwiches still appears to be superior to pretty much any other chain sandwich shop I have tried. Good flavors, appears to be fresh. 3.5 stars. Love this place especially as an alternative to some other places. Knocking off a few points for inaccurate orders and when they are busy, the sandwiches can be made a bit sloppy but I usually overlook it and still prefer them over most sandwich places. Want to give 5 stars but the last few times I have went their sandwich has not been up to par :( I also have no clue why someone would put MEATBALLS on a pizza sub! YUK! The vegetable soup is okay--not amazingly delicious--also keeping it in the 4 star range. What gets them 1/2 star more is the wonderful lady (wish I had her name!) who bakes the cookies there! They give you free cookies on your birthday and now thanks to them my bootie has grown due to my addiction!! They throw out those crumbs and make you crave their warm, melty chocolate chip/oatmeal 12 pack of mini cookies in the middle of the night!! What is REALLY GREAT is she offers to bake you cookies if you call before you come!! WHAT??!! YES! I said she will make sure there are cookies available for you if you show up on your way home from your "addicted to chocolate" meeting! It seems like ever since Covid, so many restaurants and food service places just can't get it right anymore -- orders are consistently wrong or missing items. It's frustrating to pay for something and not receive it. As an ex-Chicago guy with my first visit dating back to '90 and the original Lincoln Park locations: I have seen this chain grow quite a bit over the years. No longer a small mom and pop shop, now this PE backed firm has expanded all over the country. Some locations are superb, some are average. None capture the warmth and quality of the original, but still better than most on the market currently. Food: Lots of options now, but the Wreck was my current and frequent order. Fireball is an excellent "In-app" hidden menu option, so give that a try. Cookies are always excellent as well! Only downfall is the massive drop in quality of the shakes. They are less ice cream and more milk. Sometimes I get one that is just watery, other times like today, it was just watered (milked) down. Couldn't even make out that it was supposed to be cookies and cream. I think I just need to stop ordering it, just not worth it. Overall: Great sandwiches, good soups and great cookies. My first experience with potbelly was at their Gilbert location near market square area of Santan. During covid, Potbelly was conscientious but strove to open their stores as safely and quickly as possible to allow customers to get quality sandwiches as needed. My regular order at Potbelly is the signature sandwich called "the Wreck" which is a monstrous and delicious layered meat, veggie and dressing extravaganza. The first thing I love about thier Wreck is that it comes hot. Yes, not a cold lame sandwich- no, this is nicely toasted sandwich loaf with warmed meats and fresh toppings. The Wreck meats are perfect for its lettuce, tomato and peppers drizzled with its awesome italian herbs and oil dressing. Additional to that, they have a number of other custom sandwiches that you should try as well. Plus they have a regular sides of soup which are homemade broths of chicken noode, veggies, and a chowder. All very good. They also offer meals with chips and drinks. But the main point here is that if you love amazing sandwiches, you like the option of having them hot not cold cuts, this is your sandwich shop. Love it. read more

Stopped by to try this today and had high hopes. Lots in the menu. I decided to try their gyro, lamb. They were out of flatbread so it was on a roll. The lamb was good, onions on point and the bread was toasted perfectly. That's where the positive end. The tziki sauce was so thin and did not pack the flavor punch that it was supposed to. Food is skimpy and staff don't take their jobs seriously I normally like potbelly sandwich shops but this one is def the worst one I've been to and never seems to get better. They have messed up my sandwiches multiple times and are pretty damn skimpy with the chicken. Not only that when I took my sandwich back because they messed it up after I repeated my order clearly multiple times, the girl who messed it up was saying stuff to her coworker looking like she was putting the blame on me. Def not very friendly or honest vibes at all. Potbelly is a good sandwich shop with a big menu and great prices. The sandwiches are a little more hearty than Subway which is a plus. They serve both hot and cold sandwich as well. I also like that you can get hot peppers similar to what you will find in Chicago. They have a good number of toppings and dressings that add some variety to the menu. I will say the service is much slower than competitors, however from a taste standpoint it rivals Jersey Mike's in my opinion. They also have kids meals which is a nice touch.
