Incredible sandwich and Tamra (sp?) was super kind and helpful! Huge sandwich, it was delicious and well prepared. There were no prices on the menu so I was apprehensive, this ended up being $17.50 just for the sandwich. A bit on the expensive side but definitely hit the spot!

Came in here in the middle of the day on a Saturday, I saw this place a few weeks ago on Yelp and had to bookmark for the next time I was in this area. My husband and I stopped in for a late lunch and we saw a ton of pictures of the yellow submarine on their yelp page and we knew that that was going to be the sandwich we were going to get. This has all of the signs of a family owned mom and Pop sandwich shop.. there was one woman working behind the counter, running the register and making the sandwiches one at a time. We ordered the yellow submarine on French bread and we got it not toasted . We shared our sandwich and typically we do not share sandwiches, but we noticed that this one was pretty big. The sandwich was absolutely delicious. The sandwich bun was incredibly fresh and soft loaded up with lots of meat and half of a sandwich definitely filled me up, but I know my husband was still a little bit hungry. Overall sandwich was very tasty. The sandwich was $17.50. That is why my review is for four stars and not five. I can go anywhere else in the valley and get a great sandwich for less than $$17.50, I know that many will share so that is why the 17.50 might look good... But for a sandwich with deli meat, mustard, and mayo I would hoped that the sandwich would've been a little bit less. I don't think this would be as much as a shock if the prices of their food was on the menu and you also don't have to pay for your food until after your sandwich is eaten so I feel like if there was a little more transparency about pricing it might've had to leave the restaurant with a better taste in our mouth. Overall, the food was good. The ambience was very Blah . This restaurant has a great concept, a great potential vibe and I understand they probably have to have high priced items to keep them open.

Came in at 330 on a Friday. Service was amazing! Family owned business that cares. The owner really cares about her ingredients and making sure everything is right. The portions were big. The beers are served in ice cold glasses. Great hidden gem in chandler for sure!

I get the Spice Up Your Life sandwich. It has a jalapeño cream cheese inside that is so addicting. Tonight I tried it as a salad and it didn't disappoint. The Pickle Margarita is my favorite drink and the flight is a good way to be introduced to other drinks

Convenient location with easy access and ample parking. Menus are on a rack located near the entrance. Grab one of those as soon as you walk in and you can take a seat at a table or the counter. The owners are super nice and always welcoming when we come in. The menu offers numerous tasty options. And they'll modify the sandwiches to your preference too. And let me tell you, those sandwiches are huge. Loaded with meat, not a lot of fluff. The toppings are fresh. The bread is fresh. The balance between bread, meat, veggies, and dressings delivers some delicious bites. And they pack a lot of meat on each sandwich, often times leaving me with 1/2 of a sandwich to eat later. No complaints here. The restaurant is very relaxed and open. There are assorted tables along with stools lined up at the counter. Television above bar playing sports. I've never been here during the busiest time of day so generally it's not too loud and it's easy to hold a conversation with your party or the owners. If I had the choice, I would always eat my sandwiches the way they make them here. They're just so darn good. Oh, but I do think they need a PB&J, on raisin bread or Brioche, with cream cheese, or bananas or apples, and marshmallows, and maybe grilled... added to their menu. Or how about a grilled cheese? Guess I better order now.

Stopped by Retro Subs & Brews in Chandler and I had to try the Take On Me sandwich the name alone sold me. The sandwich was really well balanced. The Hawaiian rolls add a little sweetness that pairs nicely with the salty bacon and ham, and the turkey keeps it from feeling too heavy. Everything tasted fresh and the textures worked well together. At $17.50 it's not cheap, but the portion was solid and filling. Overall it was a really good sandwich. It's open seating, and when we went there was just one worker there with her mom helping out. She was super nice and even brought us water, which made the experience feel really welcoming.

Friendly relaxed vibe , nothing fancy, some 80s references. None of that matters. The sandwiches were soooo good. Tina Tuna packed with tuna. The NYNY which is the pastrami sandwich nothing like you would think of a NY pastrami sandwich but so much better, idk if it was the spicy mayo, it was amazing and packed with meat. They had about 4 beers on tap and plenty of options from the bar. Beer was very cold.

Just excellent sandwiches! A true hole in the wall mom and pop spot. They're there 7 days a week! It does take some time to make your sandwich so make sure you have patience. But each one is carefully crafted and of the top ingredient quality.

The name refers to U.S. Patent 139, granted to Rudolf Gustav Hass for the Hass avocado, and the establishment was founded by Tim Hass, the inventor's great grandson. Our bartender was very nice and she explained Patent 139 brews in small batches and features beer from local breweries. My husband ordered a Neon Blaster Blonde and buffalo cauliflower. I enjoyed the blonde more, but that's simply due to I've moved away from IPAs in general. During our visit they had 5 beers on tap made by Patent 139, and other guest taps as well. The story of the owner is interesting with his ties to Ballast Point and the Hass avocado. We sat in the bar area. Bartender was friendly and attentive. This is actually a food truck, which is parked on the side of the Tipsy Catcus, which is a really cool brewery I also checked out while I was waiting for my order. This is a really chill brewery, and not a huge spot. Maybe 8 to 10 high top tables with bar seating, and a mostly open floor plan. They have a small patio too, with what looks like about another tables but because I visited at night, nobody was outside. They also seem to be extremely dog friendly as they had one table with a really chill cocker spaniel completely laid out on his side in the middle of the floor. I'm not sure how many taps they had in total, but definitely more than 40 I would say. I'm not a big beer drinker, so I ordered a cider. The cider I was served was on tap and really tasty. And it definitely hit the spot of terms of price point. One thing to note, while I was talking to the owner/manager of the tipsy cactus (shout to him because he was really cool), he told me that Friday night and Saturday nights are usually popping so I wouldn't expect to be first in line on any of those nights. It also looks like they rotate food trucks on different nights, so don't assume that the cheesesteak truck is going to be here every night. I would check the tipsy cactus website, or Instagram page to be sure. I'll definitely be looking forward to checking this place out again in the future, especially if I'm hitting one of the food trucks parked outside.

Unfortunately, that's about where the positives end. If you're coming for the food or the service, I'd suggest looking elsewhere. We came in as a party of five a little after 9:00 PM and were told the kitchen closed at 10:00 PM. No problemo, we were ready to order right away. Instead, our server didn't return to take our order until around 9:20PM, despite nearby tables continuing to receive service. That was the first sign things weren't going well. I ordered the carne asada nachos specifically because the menu advertised them with queso instead of shredded cheese. I even mentioned to my group that was the reason I was ordering them. I also added a side of sweet potato waffle fries. About 25 minutes after we had already placed our order, the server came back and asked if I'd like a different meat. Like of course I don't want a different meat that's why I ordered carne asada. The server didn't say that they were out of carne asada, but I read between the lines and opted for ground beef cause really the queso is what makes the nachos. Also, I couldn't help wondering why it took 25 minutes to find that out. Then the food arrived. My nachos immediately looked different than expected. Instead of queso, they were covered with shredded cheese. Nothing was mentioned about being out of queso. I notice there was none. When I asked about it, the server casually said, "Oh yeah, we're out of queso too." Wait...what? So the restaurant was out of both the carne asada and the queso. The two main ingredients that made me order the dish in the first place. No one cared to mentioned either of those things when taking my order OR when coming back and asking if I wanted a different meat didn't also mention they were out of queso. Had I known, I would have ordered something completely different from the start. To the server's credit, she did let me order something else. Sucks for the kitchen because they were already closed. I ended up getting the sliders, but they were just as underwhelming as everything else. The food overall tasted like frozen products that had simply been reheated. Nothing tasted fresh, especially considering the prices. The biggest issue wasn't just the mediocre food, it was the lack of communication and straight lie when placing my food in front of me. If items are unavailable, tell customers before they order or at least when placing their food down, not after they've waited half an hour and not saying anything at all. Between the disappointing service, poor communication, and unforgettable food for all the wrong reasons, this place completely lost my trust. I'd honestly rather spend half the money at IHOP, where the food is more consistent and I'd know what to expect.

Maybe I was just especially hungry, but when my Fire Starter burger came out, I thought it looked absolutely beautiful. My fiancé got the wings with a side of fries, my mother got the Birria Quesadilla, and my sister ordered the fish and chips. The burger tasted just as good as it looked, and everything else I tried was great as well. It was the kind of meal where everyone at the table was happy with what they ordered. There are also plenty of TVs throughout the dining area for anyone interested in watching something while they eat, which fits the pub atmosphere really well. And the service really stood out to me. When we were leaving, our server noticed us from across the dining room and called out goodbye and that she hoped to see us again. Very comfortable atmosphere with bright color mural paintings and mariachi music playing in the background gave the feeling that I was in Mexico! Afterwards I learned that the owner is from San Carlos! Wow! Small world! We will be back! Highly recommended for Baja Mexican food!
