We were looking for a quick bite before our Skunk Train ride, and since this was walking distance we decided to check out Cafe One. It looks like a classic diner and the ambiance is pretty simple, but I was pleasantly surprised by how much they lean into organic ingredients. Literally everything -- the bread, honey, ketchup, etc. -- was organic, which you can actually taste in the freshness of the food. I got the huevos rancheros with a side of potatoes and the eggs were really delicious. Portions were also pretty generous. They brought out a bunch of different sauces to try, and one of the jalapeño habanero ones was especially good. Service was quick and efficient -- we were in and out within about 40 minutes, which was perfect before our train ride. read more

This is a perfect road side diner/cafe. I was just passing through on a road trip and decided to grab some breakfast. I tried one of their specials that day, which was berry French toast made with homemade bread and it hit the spot. It's a comfortable place to eat solo and the service was incredible. They offer several dishes that are organic as well as meat alternative s like turkey or chicken sausage or bacon. As we drove up Main Street in Fort Bragg, Cafe 1 seemed to be the only thing open - a decided advantage for them on a Tuesday morning. The food was, as other reviewers have said, 'just OK'. I had corned beef hash and scrambled eggs and the hash - supposedly homemade - was bland and unremarkable. There was a little bit of an off taste in the seasoning palette, but mostly it was just really plain. If it really is made on site, they would be well-advised to make the chunks of corned beef and potato a little larger: make it LOOK homemade, at least. The eggs were OK - it's pretty hard to screw up scrambled eggs. Rather small portion. Toast was a single slice of whole wheat toast. Really - one piece of bread? How much could another cost? The presentation consisted of a tiny slice of watermelon on top of the food. Very underwhelming The coffee was $4.50/cup - about twice what you'd pay at Starbucks for a larger portion. It was quite good coffee, but the server never refilled the cup or asked if we'd like a refill. The servers were nice - hardly what you'd call outgoing - but like seemingly everything about Cafe 1, OK. Overall - it seemed like a high price for a very average breakfast. Maybe this is par for the course for Fort Bragg, I don't get there often enough to know. I would be happy to pay their prices for a good breakfast, nicely presented, but as it is, they are well below the curve. read more

Reconnected with a friend this morning who took me to breakfast. I asked for CafeOne as I hadn't been there in a minute and was excited to review. This Northside gem has a relaxed down home feel almost as if your grandmother was cooking. It's bright and the tables are far enough apart for you to have a conversation and there is some great local art on the wall. We were promptly greeted and given a green light to pick an empty table. They make an amazing Dirty Chai, hot and full of flavor. The breakfast burrito is giant even without meat and almost big enough for two. I chose the mushroom hash with a poached egg and couldn't be happier. The flavor of it was surprising as the mix melted in your mouth, I will get it again. This organic establishment should be on your rotation for breakfast choices if you are a local and one to compete with any of the more well known spots in Fort Bragg. read more

Stopped by here for brunch on our last day in Fort Bragg. The restaurant looked pretty crowded though we were seated quickly after walking in. After looking at the menu, we decided to order a breakfast burrito and huevos rancheros. The breakfast burrito was solid, the eggs and cheese were well balanced. The burrito was not at all soggy which I love! The potatoes were nicely grilled though the chunks were slightly large in size. The burrito had good flavor and the side of pico de gallo made it even better! The Huevos Rancheros was very nice and the over medium eggs became a tasty element part of this dish! The two salsas were so good! The tortilla, egg, and salsa paired well with each other. There are a variety of vegan and vegetarian options available here. I would love to try an option with tofu the next time I am visiting! Certainly, a place I can recommend in Fort Bragg for good brunch! read more

Amazing cute cafe in Fort Bragg downtown!!! The cafe is clean and the crew is super friendly!! Almost everything is made in-house. Their strawberry jam, strawberry scones, and blueberry pancakes are all homemade and organic. Super delicious. They have a lot of vegetarian options as well. Although this place doesn't look like much , the food was really good. The service was pretty fast as well. We were really grateful to see vegan options on the menu. We tried the following : Vegan florentine : 4/5 Huevos Rancheros with tofu instead of eggs : 5/5. This couldn't be any better. Pancakes with blueberry: 4/5. The maple syrup could have been better, it was too runny. You can skip the lattes, they were not exceptional. The freshly squeezed orange juice was good, but came with pulp. We LOVE this place. Family owned and run. Fantastic, warm, and very friendly service. (Angel and Cynthia are awesome!) Simple breakfast/lunch cafe-diner food, but made with real care and all organic, clean, and mostly locally sourced ingredients. Quite a few vegan and gluten free options, and custom requests are always greeted with a smile and a "sure no problem." Great sandwiches, (the "North of the Border" especially), and solid breakfast classics. Excellent Thanksgiving coffee in their own house blend, pressed loose-leaf teas, and their organic house-brand hot sauces are really great.
