Stopped by after a hike in the area. Yelp said they were open till 3, but when we arrived at 2:15, we saw a sign on the door that they were closing at 2:30. Since we had driven specially to this place and were starving, we stayed and ordered. I generally feel bad about coming somewhere so close to closing time, but I figured it was fair since they were closing earlier than their normal hours. Plus there were 3 of us and they got at least $40 from us. Anyway, the staff was polite and helpful even though we were there right before closing time. My sandwich took a little while, but was delicious when it came out. Also the guy working there brought me a consolation apple fritter which was also very good. I had one of the "open sandwiches." While the flavors and ingredients were good, it was a little pricey for elevated toast (over $7). Good food quality. Fresh and healthy. 3 stars given due to lack of communication about menu changes. We ordered the smokehouse bowl today and the cashier took our order without telling us that they no longer had pulled pork. They proceeded to make and serve a chicken bowl for us without communicating that they could not fulfill our original order. They even served it without saying anything. We had to ask about the mistake before finding out that they no longer had the menu item. Please update your menu or communicate changes before just assuming your customers want something else. The beautiful assortment of baked goods are as delicious as they look - scones and croissants are super yummy. And the coffee mochas out of the Italian coffee machine are THE BEST in whole area. So I've been to Cafe 152 three times now (mostly when I had to stop at the post office) and overall I've been pretty happy with my visits. First time I got a sandwich with a couple small sides, the last two times I got the chop chop salad (delicious!). The salad is pretty large, they assemble it while you wait, and I think it's pretty well balanced in terms of amount/variety of toppings to lettuce. I get my food to go, but you can definitely sit and dine in. Service has been alright, pretty quick and friendly. I'll definitely be back when I get a salad craving, but not sure whether I'll really branch out much to the other menu items haha. The staff is ahwats very professional, smiling and friendly. You really don't see that type of service these days, so it's very important to see that still. They have a variety of sandwiches, salads, coffee, drinks, and pastries. They have this tomatoe basil soup that is my favorite, and it is so good, I mean so damn good. Good thing fall is here and winter, as that will be an amazing soup to eat during this time of year. It's located in a very nice area, near the downtown Gilroy strip area. It's definitely a must stop, and the best part is that it is locally owned and from what I can see and taste they use a lot of fresh products that they get from other locally owned businesses. I'm a firm believer in supporting locally owned business, and this place is a must for everyone to try. They are open from 8 to 2 and on Sunday 130. You definitely don't want to pass by this beautiful gem in Gilroy. Whether you're a local or driving by, you will have great food and great service when you stop here to eat. I've eaten here many times since they opened and generally like coming here. Today I showed up, they were super busy. Waited for maybe 5 minutes. Eye contact was made with the employees, no worries really, I knew they were busy, I could see that. The problem, is when the next couple came in, they were told no orders were being taken till 1. I have been anxiously awaiting the arrival of a sandwich shop instead of the chain sandwich shops (Subway, Togo's and Eric's). I have always loved Cafe 152 Burger Company so I had high hopes for this place when I found out on nextdoor.com from a neighbor that they were coming soon. I tried to come here 2 times before I could finally find them open even though online they showed they were supposed to be open at the times that I went. I even called the Cafe 152 Burger Company to ask if the sandwich shop was open and they said yes, but when I got there they were closed. They said they had been having numerous "opening issues", so that was fine and I chalked it up to luck of the draw and was still looking forward to trying them out. The third try turned out to be the lucky one and I was finally able to get a sandwich to go since they were already almost all closed up 45 minutes before closing time with chairs up on the tables etc. Unfortunately, I was not impressed with the food... Food: They offer home made chips which are delicious!! I had the Roasted Turkey Avocado and asked them to add bacon. The sandwich came on sliced bread instead of a roll and was extremely "dry". I was also unhappy that they did not add the bacon that I checked my receipt and verified that I paid for. The biggest issue I had though was that they literally put on two folded slices of turkey meat. For the price I paid for my sandwich, I expect a better built sandwich. I can get a much better sandwich at the Safeway deli for $6.00. Their side "samples" are way too small but we bought extra to try them all out and they were all very good as well. Service: Friendly service except for the issue of not putting bacon on my sandwich that I paid for. Cleanliness: They were closing early so they were still mopping etc. when I got there but everything looked nice and clean regardless. What they could do better: 1. Use more meat on the sandwiches 2. Offer different types of bread for your sandwiches and go with rolls etc. 3. Add more sauce/condiments to your sandwiches 4. Make sure you are open when your site says you are open and extend your hours to at least 9PM for those people that have to commute home from out of town I will be back to try the salads and maybe grab another side sample sometime, but as it stands now, the sandwiches are just not worth the price. read more

This place is amazing. The sandwich was made perfectly with all the right amounts of turkey, avocado and veggie. The tomato soup was so flavorful and fresh. The southwest salad was also fresh and had the right flavors. We ended our lunch with the cinnamon roll muffin thing which was out of this world. The service was very friendly. We end up getting back to the office almost always missing something. Today I purchased 4 salads with chicken this is an extra $2.50 per salad and when we got back to the office there was no chicken on all 4 salads. but when I asked for extra cheese I was told we had to pay extra. Excellent sandwiches! Fresh lean meats and quality ingredients and breads. We had the turkey sandwich, grilled vegetables sandwich and hot pastrami sandwich. All served with a side you choose from - potato salad, fruit salad, pasta salad, macaroni salad. All very tasty. I recommend the potato salad which has little bits in bacon in it and I just wanted to eat more. All foods are made to order and the bread is very good. I recommend the whole grain bread. It's a little bit of a wait for them to make the food but worth it. Not a long wait though. Good coffees and delicious showcase of baked goods. The side of home made potato chips that come with the sandwiches were on the stale side and not freshly fried. It that was the only negative. Service is friendly and courteous. We were driving through on the way back home from NorCal, and I really wanted to eat at the Garlic Café but they were closed. This meal is one of the reasons I love Yelp so much. After some shopping at the outlets, we wanted a good, light meal before the rest of the drive home. The people were very very friendly. Street parking was easy. The restaurant is clean, and feels intimate. Onto the food: the tomato soup was killer. Just killer. It was served piping hot and had a fantastic, full, vibrant flavor. The roast beef sandwich was on soft white bread and the meat was delicious. We ordered the salad with fruit and walnuts, the dressing was tasty. My daughter loves deviled eggs, so she inhaled those with pleasure. Lastly, we got the yogurt parfait, and it was the perfect ending to the meal. Will post the pics, too. I am definitely looking forward to coming back here on the drive to NorCal. Such a cute, quaint place that has a homey feel to it. Wish it was around the corner from me. read more

I really want to like this place (and there's a lot to like!) but every time I've visited, I'm left sort of confused and wondering if I did something wrong? I think it has to do with service and a lack of guidance at the start of the ordering process. But hinestly, I've spent too much time trying to figure out what's off here already. Let me start with the positives: The cafe is super cute, spacious and bright, with fridges and bakery cases full of beverages and all kinds of delectable, tempting baked goods. I've tried some baked goods, as well as the toast and mascarpone dish and the waffles. All of them were very good! The breakfast menu items use tons of fresh fruit, and it's really fresh and delicious. I think my issue comes down to the ordering. You enter the cafe. There's not really a line or a clearly marked order of how to order. The menu is on the wall behind the register, clear and easy to read, and you give your order to a server behind the counter, pay and grab a seat. But every time I've been, the staff have seemed confused by what I'm asking? I don't know if I'm ordering breakfast items too late in the day or what. There's no time limit on breakfast that I saw marked, but each time I've asked for something, the person helping me has gone back behind the wall to ask someone else if they have that item. Leaving me feeling kind of foolish. So, the food is good! This cafe is cute and pleasant! But the service always leaves me feeling embarrassed and confused and uncomfortable. Tried this place for the first time today and I was not disappointed! I had the club sandwich and apple pear salad with the potato salad. One of the best lunches I've had in a while. My dad got the spicy grilled chicken sandwich and the tomato basil soup. He said both were very good. I will definitely be going here again. Highly recommend!!! read more
