Awesome little cafe in small town Indiana- we stopped here for breakfast on the way to Chicago, and were amazed by both the service and the food quality. I tried the cheesecake-stuffed French toast (which was SO GOOD), and everyone else in the group ordered biscuits and gravy (which were also very good); we all agreed it was one of the best breakfast meals we'd ever had. On a different subject, during our meal, we managed to spill the entire water pitcher, knock a painting down, and clog the toilet, but, even still, the waiters and manager were really nice and laughed about it with us. So great staff too. All-in-all, a wonderful experience totally worth the drive from I-65. read more

Nice little breakfast/lunch spot in downtown Hobart. The pecan waffle smelled fantastic, and the taste lived up to the aroma. Mum's strawberry crepes were light-as-air, and Dad enjoyed a skillet of eggs and other goodies. My water glass was kept full by the friendly staff (and the kitschy water glasses appealed to me). This place is a hidden gem in downtown Hobart. $4 mimosa was not weak by any means. Attentive staff, perfectly seasoned food and very nice portions. I came here alone to treat myself to a relaxed breakfast. Mission accomplished! Modern decor, bright yet inviting and warm. I would recommend for a breakfast/brunch date. Decent menu. Better to perfect a smaller menu than to try to keep up with IHOP. Oh and the service...reminds me of when I lived overseas. They aren't forcing you put off the door, asking if you want a check. What can I say about this place great atmosphere and greater staff. Love the food and the people. Little crowded on the weekend so get in early if you want to miss the rush. Restaurant is always wonderful. Food is fresh and well-seasoned. The owner and his staff is attentive to needs, and the fact that we can have a mimosa or Bloody Mary at breakfast is wonderful. This place is really great and a breath of fresh air in Hobart. An independent small business where you can get quality food and service. The Kona coffee is very good and the eggs benedict are served with REAL hollandaise sauce which totally makes the dish for me. I went on mothers day and they gave my wife a rose which is a nice touch and made her smile. My son had pancakes and bacon loved them.My wife enjoyed her omelette as well. This was my first time at Cafe 339 and let me tell you, it does not get enough credit for its great food, great service and great prices! Cafe 339 is the place to go if you are craving an affordable home cooked meal, without having to actually cook it yourself. First let me start of with the great service! I was greeted from the moment I stepped foot into this cozy restaurant. The fact that I was greeted right as I walked into the door despite them being so packed, goes to show you that they value all their customers. This is a family owned restaurant, and let me tell you they make sure you feel like family as well! The server was great! She came to check on us frequently and always asked if we needed anything, and if we did she never hesitated to get it for us. She was very attentive and had such a great attitude! I do have to say it was a bit small and crowded. Our wait time was not to long, about 15-20 minutes. So I recommend being a bit patience because the food is worth it! The food was my favorite part! Not only was it delicious but it was a great price too! I ordered the stuffed cheesecake french toast, and OH MY! Was it DELICIOUS! It had cheesecake filling topped with fresh strawberries! It wasn't to sweet, it was just right! I really liked that I left satisfied and not over stuffed. There are not a lot of small family oriented restaurants in Hobart, Indiana and we are lucky to have Cafe 399. Not only is it a family oriented restaurant but it has great service, fantastic food and great prices. So if you are driving through town or are a townie and you are looking for a good home cooked meal away from home then make sure to stop by because Cafe 339 is the place to go! read more

Great breakfast, so glad they have cocktail drinks in the morning and they are always on top of things

I've been meaning to try this place for a bit now, but the line would be out the door everytime I was in the area! We decided to go there early today and were seated outside before that line started. Waitress was pleasant, however as our time there was spent, she turned out to not be prompt. The long wait for the food may be understandable and not her fault, but we felt a bit forgotten seated outside. I ordered coffee with cream with my meal. I got the coffee within the first few minutes but received the cream about 15 minutes after that, after asking her again for it the next time she popped outside. Never did get a refill on of it before we left, either. She seemed apologetic at least. I ordered a country Benedict and my partner ordered some kind of skillet. The Benedict I received was basically biscuits and gravy with two eggs on top. Not exactly what I was expecting but the sausage was spot on! Every other element of the meal was just ok. My partner wasn't impressed by his meal, either. Upon paying, I saw a man who I assume to be running the place giving high fives to kids and being pleasant to the patrons waiting to be seated. Overall, if you are to try this place, I'd recommend not sitting outside for the best, fair experience. In my opinion, the food was a big let down from the hype I see on yelp. The employees seem they need some extra help, but at least who ever is running it is trying to be upbeat. read more

Hash browns at breakfast are diced and perfectly done I get their chicken vegetable medley. Big portion of chicken and plenty of FRESH vegetables. The really curious thing about Hobart, Indiana is how the city name is pronounced. One would expect a pronunciation that mimicked the capital of Tasmania, or the kitchen appliance company, or my alma mater in Upstate New York - Ho-BART. Instead the natives pronounce it Ho-BERT. It's the only word with "art" in it that I know of using the "ert" pronunciation. Odd. It wasn't too difficult to snag a parking spot right in front of Cafe 339 at 8 on a Friday morning. The smallish cafe felt very diner-esque on the inside, from its stools at a counter, to its booths, to its middle aged waitresses, to its Greek-American owners. It was fairly busy when we got there, with a healthy mix of locals: people on the way to work, mothers with kids in tow, and old ferts like myself. The environment was lively yet civilized. Motown tracks from Pandora played in the background. Tables, floors, and the bathroom were super clean. Nice ertwork hung on the walls; mostly paintings by local ertists. I asked for the Breakfast Panini which was grilled Italian bread filled with spinach, tomatoes, bacon, provolone, and three eggs. I have no idea how they filled two pieces of bread with all those ingredients but it turned out scrumptious. The potatoes were grilled exactly as I liked them with just a little touch of grease and some char. The menu said they served Kona coffee. At $1.45, with refills, that would be a great deal. My experience with drinking Kona on my visits to Hawaii had been delectable. This cup didn't taste anything like the Kona coffee I remembered. My guess is that it was watered down to cater to Midwestern tastes. If I was asked whether my cup of coffee was Kona or Eight O'Clock I would have said Eight O'Clock. Cafe 339 was very well staffed. There were enough servers to quickly take orders and refill coffee cups for the bustling crowd. The food came out after only about a 10 minute wait. Our waitress was professional and cheerful. It was readily apparent that she was a seasoned pro at making sure her customers had a good experience. The friendly owner bounced around the room ensuring that everything was going smoothly. Horrible food. I got the southwestern omelette. The hashbrowns were super greasy and had zero flavor. My omelette also looked like it had been cooked in a dirty pan judging by the color of the egg. My toast I could of probably built a house with. It was rock hard. I seriously could of replicated this meal on my own after coming home from a heavy night of drinking and a bunch of dirty pans. Fabulous! I live in California and have been to this restaurant several times when in town visiting family. The food is outstanding and the service is excellent. Each time I've eaten here I've had breakfast and it has always been scrumptious and beautifully plated.
