Their market wedge salad is $14, the majority of it is iceberg lettuce....To add chicken, it's $8 for 4 thin slices. While it was good, I left hungry and like I just got ripped off. Would never recommend to anyone. Update- the manager refunded the cost of the salad after I brought my concerns to his attention. He admitted they cut portions, which I feel like is worse. They are intentionally trying to get away with it and only make it right when caught. Do better! I purchased one of their burgers to actually fill me up and it wasn't good. There was a lot to like about C4, but there were several glaring issues as well. First, the positive: It looked like a busy day down in Market Square, but we were after the brunch/lunch rush so we were able to get a table outside without a reservation. Our server let us know that they were new on the job, but he was very friendly and warm. The menu had good options for most diners, whether watching their waistline or wishing to indulge in Southern cuisine. The food itself was good. Not outstanding, but good. My salad was a "C4 Favorite" but in my opinion it was nothing to write home about: overdressed greens, strawberries, blue cheese, and candied nuts. Nothing I couldn't throw together at home. My husband had the breakfast plate which was perfectly standard (although I will say the breakfast potatoes were excellent!). But the cons were enough to disappoint. They appeared to have plenty of staff working, but the kitchen was very backed up and it took ages to get our beverages (even water) and meal. Once our food arrived we had to go chase down silverware- which took several minutes- by which point my husband's eggs were cold. Something may have been going on with the dishwasher, because when my husband went inside to go try to track down cutlery he came back with only one set, so I used the fork for my salad and he tackled his eggs with a spoon and a knife. By the time a second set appeared, we were nearly done eating. But the biggest issue for me was the bathroom area. Holy moly, that was gross. The restroom itself was fine, but the entire back area of the restaurant leading to the restrooms and inside the ladies (and gents, according to what I heard) absolutely reeked of urine. It was revolting. Had I gone back there before our meal started I would've spun on my heel and turned around and walked right out of there, never to return. I'm guessing they do a bustling nighttime bar trade so I'm sure it was the result of a bunch of drunk college kids celebrating their graduation the day before (and maybe peeing in the corners??), but that is unacceptable in a food establishment. When the manager first walked in to open up Sunday morning, they should've called an "all hands on deck" to get that floor scrubbed before the first customer walked in. I know margins are very slim in the restaurant business and I know it can be very difficult to hire, train, and retain staff, and I always want small businesses to succeed, but no thank you! read more

This restaurant has nice ambience. It's beautifully designed and has the appearance of a upper class restaurant. Their food was very mediocre at best. I got a gluten-free cheeseburger and their gluten-free buns were actually just sandwich bread that was gluten-free and tasted like cardboard, it wasn't even a bun! We were strolling down Market Square waiting for a live music show to start in a few hours so we decided to nosh on a little something and sit outside. This place had a great outdoor seating area and we were able to relax, people watch and enjoy some good food. My husband and I split the cheese steak sandwich and fries and get some ice teas. The meet was tender and the onions were caramelized, so delicious! Service was so friendly and we had views of the market square area which we enjoyed. First time at Cafe 4 and we enjoyed it. If there is one complaint is that my wife is a black tea drinker and they didn't have any black tea. This is the 2nd restaurant in 2 weeks that didn't have black tea. Kind of amazes me. There was a 30 minute wait so we sat at the bar. Monica B was our server and did a nice job of taking care of us. Her co-worker was a friendly guy and kept us advised on the process of our food. I had the sausage and eggs and loved the potatoes. Big cups of delicious coffee! A bit of a wait for our food, but was worth it. We go down often for the Farmer's Market but will skip the next 3 weeks as it's going to be home football games and I don't want to be there for the craziness. I'm not crazy about most of the restaurants on Market Square but we'll return to the Cafe 4. read more

Was expecting a little better food and ambience as there was an hour wait for a table. The hostess gladly took our number and true to their word it was an hour later when we received their text. We decided on the fried chicken and waffles and beet salad. The beau had a latte and I had a caramel macchiato that arrived with no caramel even though they charged me for the flavoring. The waffles were cold and tough and we could have used some butter. The fried chicken was the highlight with a very flavorful, crispy crust that was so good with the sweetness of the maple syrup. The side of gravy was bland and served no purpose. I liked the beets and blue cheese parts of the salad so I picked those out and left the rest behind. I want to like this place! After it changed ownership, I have had an impossible time getting and keeping a wait time at this restaurant. I would put my name on the list on a busy brunch day ( I get it, they're busy) but would never receive a confirmation text for my wait time. Several times, I waited until well after the time time they quoted, only to be told we weren't on the list and never seated after over an hour ( the wait time was usually quoted as 15-30 minutes) When I approached, they would put us off for another 30-40 minutes. When I complained on social media, the company never responded to my kindly worded suggestions and instead escalated the issue and then deleted the post. The food has gone downhill and service is not great. Don't recommend. read more

When I went service was great, but I felt that because we had a toddler they sat elsewhere and I left his sippy cup and when I returned about 10 minutes later, they had trashed it. Despite big crowds for a he Tennessee vs A&M game, we two Aggies were able to be seated outside in Marks section. He was efficient, professional, charming and knowledgeable. It was law so we split the Tennessee cheesesteak and a side salad. the Green Goddess dressing was outstanding! And the side salad cold, fresh greens and an assortment of cherry tomatoes, , refreshing and surprisingly plentiful. The cheesesteak was absolutely delicious. Grilled bread, shaved sirloin, melted cheese and just the right amount of peppers and onions. Mark mAde the experience enjoyable, truly making us feel welcome visitors and valued customers.
