I am absolutely appalled on the service and professionalism that was conducted at the café 611, Me and my team had an event in December at the venue, we paid their overpriced fee for space in FREDERICK MD due to having complications with our prior venue. Not even an hour into our event, I had noticed the security at the door being aggressive with the patrons, At our events we invite a community made up of our friends, loved ones and locals that share ideals and beliefs, such as PLURR and Decency. So this off rip didn't sit well with me. I understand someone has to do their job and in fact would want everyone to be checked and ID'd/verified before they enter our show for safety and legal reasons, So I will never get in the way of stopping staff from doing that as their job. What really spiraled the night out of control was when one of our own staff from our collective who we had as a greeter at the door looked uncomfortable so we went to go check on her and she had told us that a secondary man next to the security/doorman who was also checking people in had made inappropriate sexual comments such as asking her to sit in his lap because she looked tired of standing while gesturing towards his genitalia, this happened in the entry hallway. (being dressed up and looking good is not an invite to be inappropriate, we condemn that disgusting behavior to the highest degree). This combined with multiple other patrons complaining about being touched inappropriately as they entered and paid. (This second man, the security/doorman's brother wasn't even authorized to work and was allegedly fired months ago from Café 611 yet he was there "working" with permission from the owner) when I fully heard everything from multiple people. I walked up to the security and asked them to please not be aggressive with our patrons, as mentioned before these are our friends and family coming through and I personally love these people to death. The secondary man then proceeded to get aggressive with me, threaten me and tell me that he would take me out front to the street and kill me, To quote exactly what he said "I don't knock people out. I put them to sleep permanently. Would you like to go outside? Let's go outside" me at this point, I'm absolutely bewildered and the situation escalating (my only words to them in this entire exchange in front of 10+ people was simply asking if they could not speak to our patrons in a condescending or aggressive way) the customers that were entering the building and knew nothing about the situation unfolding were the ones that had to be the to step in between and try to pull him away from me as he was standing up to put hands on anyone that angered him. I let things cool down and walk away. I proceeded to address my issues with the person in charge of that night, immediately he was dismissive, but told me he would go over and talk to security. He walked over and I watched them speak. They shared a couple laughs for about 30 minutes and the man Hung out for another hour after that before he decided to leave on his own accord. At the end of the night when our event was over, not a minute after, right on the dot. Security and the Manager started yelling obscenities and telling everyone to get the **** out and made a comment about white people for some reason? Which left everyone uncomfortable and confused because this room was as ethnically diverse as it could get. Me and my entire staff went to have a full conversation about what had happened that night and recapping with the owner but he defended his "staff" even after having multiple (7+) patrons independently complain about being uncomfortable, he ignored any accountability, harassed us for his money while we were actively breaking down and loading all of our equipment into our vehicles outside because at that point it was clearly the only thing he cared about. demanded we pay him their split without any reasoning or understanding that the funds had to be transferred. Started acting like we were trying run off without paying him because we demanded a conversation about accountability first and then when it was all said and done shut the door on us so we couldn't return. I will never in my life come/promote/attend/etc here ever. This place has a bad history and I wanted to believe it wasn't true and still try to work at the 611 because good venues in the Maryland scene are hard to come by, but everything everyone has said about this place unbelievably correct. You all should be ashamed and know good and well this hasn't been your only instance or situation. read more

Place smelled and was dirty. The food was overpriced for the portion size. It took 20 minutes for a quesadilla and the place was empty. The building has not been updated in years. Bathroom was disgusting and unkempt. Enough said. read more

Got takeout from Cafe 611 based on rave reviews and it didn't disappoint me! The location is easy to find. Parking is a bit of a nuisance, but there are curbside options around the corner. Service was so friendly! I wish they offered contactless payment, but they wore masks. The food was ready in 15 minutes and packed nicely with utensils included. I had the fried chicken sandwich and it was honestly one of the best I've ever had. Even the fries were great. My friend ordered the chicken tenders and I don't know if it was a mistake but they were grilled instead of breaded and fried. Not the best. I'd love to return soon to try more of the menu! read more

Pretty gross place. Only one beer on tap and when poured it had black stuff floating in it. The ceiling looked like it was going to fall to the ground in places from water damage. The whole place is dreary and rundown. Foodwise, I can only speak about the chicken sandwich, but it was not good. Not good at all. My friend wasn't even sure what kind of meat it was. The fried shrimp and the steak sandwiches definitely looked better going by. The staff was pretty good though, so 2 stars for that alone. read more

THIS IS A BAR. NOT A CAFE. Drinks are WAY overpriced. They need to have drink specials on weekends. Great avenue for local bands to play at (spacious and has a large dance floor area) They seem to have issues with their credit card machines a lot so bring cash! They have an outside smoking area located in the back of the bar with a picnic table. I feel like they should turn this into an outside eating area to bring in more business during the day. read more

What's theme here? Death metal? Jam bands? Comedy? Zoomba? Right now they are serving African home cooking. When they have something cool going on it is a good spot and always affordable. But they don't seem to have a clear niche they have carved out for themselves in a neighborhood with tons of other options. read more

What an awesome place to see a show! As a venue, it's not super huge, and the layout is a little bit unorthodox (the tiny stage means that on several occasions, musicians were just standing in the crowd) but the energy is great, and the sound is unbelievable, considering. The quality was better in this little place than in most arenas I've been in. The bar food is decent - nothing that's going to make me rave endlessly, but for the most part I was drunk enough to have enjoyed sawdust if it was fed to me. Drink specials are excellent, I got thoroughly plastered for about 25 dollars (before tip!) I highly recommend; with cheap tickets, cheaper drinks, and a great atmosphere, this place has lept up my list of venues. Will be back! read more

This typically isn't my spot. The only time I come here is when a friend of mine is performing or my favorite bartender candy (candice) is working. She always puts a smile on my face and always has one on hers. She's a breath of fresh air and she makes the bar at 611 awesome! Good job hiring her for your staff. Also I appreciate the security check in the front.. I really do. It makes me feel safer knowing that bags and persons are being checked for any weapons. A+ for the safety check! Have been here a few times for metal events. "Restaurant" is a misnomer. This is a bar with a very limited menu of not very interesting "bar food", which I almost never see anyone ordering or eating. I would recommend eating somewhere else before you arrive. Drinkwise, I generally stick to beer of which they have a reasonable selection, including some craft beer (Flying Dog), at a mid- to high price. They have a cocktail menu but the atmosphere here to me is more beer bar. They book some great acts, the sound is good especially for a small place (high ceiling in the band room helps a lot), and they also have a strong wifi at least near the "dance floor" area (falls off pretty quick when you get outside). Staff are reasonably nice although it can take a long time to get served at the bar. On a few occasions the bartenders have seemed distracted by their personal convos with each other, with their pals, on their cell phones or with their family members who seem to frequently visit them in the bar. Parking is on the street which is free (no meter) after about 5:30 pm, or you can use the lots of a couple local businesses nearby - I'm not sure how legal that is but everybody does it and I have not been towed away yet. There is a back patio for smoking or sitting outside, but it is very tiny and could stand to be bigger. read more

Disappointed we paid $23/person & headliner only played 1 hr before getting cut off in mid song due to a noise complaint. Apparently the 2nd floor tenant calls the police on every show. Staff & bartenders were nice but overpriced $6 Yuengling & $7 rum w/coke. Quesadillas took way too long, too greasy & cost $9 for 4 pieces. read more

I was pleasantly surprised by this hidden gem of downtown Frederick. The bartenders were friendly, attentive and fun. Drinks were decent and food was actually really great! We ordered chicken tenders and fries, then a steak quesadilla. Not a bite left. Cool atmosphere, great potential. Will come back for sure. read more

This venue has SO MUCH POTENTIAL but is executed poorly. My review is based only on late night/bar service. It takes an extremely long time to get a drink... I've had friends who have waited 20 min for 3 beers they ordered. The last time I ordered a drink there, I got a rum and coke... But the coke was flat I was warned. Ok... Then I get my drink with no garnish. I asked for a lime and the bartender pulled out a container of limes, made a gross face, and picked out the least rotten lime slice... Which was still really rotten. Worst drink I've ever been served! It's such a shame because this place has so much room, 2 bars and is great for big events and shows. Over the years ownership and management seem to have changed often, so it's possible this place redeems itself in the future. read more

They don't sell earplugs. For a venue that so frequently books metal acts this is a pretty glaring oversight. If you're going to a show here remember to bring your own. The website mentions "ample nearby parking in adjacent lot". It's 5 parking spaces that actually belong to a business next door. There's plenty of street parking nearby if you get there early enough. Drinks are cheap if you're used to paying DC venue prices, but the bar is understaffed and you'll be waiting a while. The bartenders themselves were friendly, but when you've got 2 bartenders serving 300+ people it's a problem. Overall I'd say there are much better venues that attract a less rednecky clientelle. I'd only recommend it if a must-see band is playing. read more

This is a very local business, imbedded among historic residential homes. It's a terrible, run down building, with inconsistent business (sometimes they run out of beer, sometimes they don't take credit cards and don't have an ATM). They let their customers stand out front and smoke (adding loud noise to the neighborhood), despite the fact that they have a large smoking patio out back. They prop both sets of double doors open during heavy metal bands and are impolite to local residents. It is a sore in the neighborhood and a poorly run business. read more

More of a bar than a Cafe, but still a great bar. A lot room to move around with pretty good sound. The staff was polite, and we're looking forward to playing at Cafe 611 again. read more
