I was getting elementary school bus vibes as I had attended Brownsville Elementary School many decades ago when the late Bud Hawk was the principal. There's another local school named after him out by Jackson Park. He was a WW2 US Army Medal of Honor recipient. I digress with this fun fact, but Mr. Hawk was pretty awesome! I used their app to place my takeout order ahead of time, on the off chance they might be slammed Sunday evening. Great to do this which enables one to view their up to date menu offerings and also accrue points with purchase. Welcoming and upbeat folks at the counter. Nice set up with covered outdoor seating and ample indoor seating too. Looks like there's also live music onsite. My order was being packaged as I did a quick look see. In addition to their bevs & eats menu, there's homemade from scratch desserts, merch, and bottles of wine available for purchase. I really enjoyed my takeout once I got back to East Bremerton. The Beefster was generously made with tasty roast beef, melty provolone cheese, caramelized onions, greens on a soft roll. I also tried a cup of their clam chowder. Chockful of clams, bacon, potatoes & clam nectar. Thin consistency but delicious! Perfect with added black pepper and oyster crackers provided. The epic exclamation point was the Iced Spiced Baby, essentially a sizable oatmeal craisin sandwich cookie filled with cream cheese frosting. Cross between a sandwich cookie and whoopie pie and not overly sweet. They've been open since October 2025 and as mentioned a worthy detour off Hwy 3 from Bremerton, Silverdale or Keyport. I intend to stop by again in the near future to provide lunch for medical clinic staff in Poulsbo.

Despite our large group, they accommodated everyone comfortably and provided outstanding service from start to finish. The diner completely embraces the classic 1950s era. From the décor and booths to the music and nostalgic atmosphere, it truly feels like you've stepped back in time. The restaurant was also exceptionally clean and well maintained. The staff was friendly, attentive, and impressively efficient. They handled our large group's orders with ease, kept drinks refilled, and delivered everyone's meals quickly. Our table ordered a variety of dishes including bacon and eggs, sausage and eggs, Oregon French toast, chicken and waffles, and a Reuben sandwich. Every meal looked fantastic, the portions were generous, and everything was cooked perfectly. The standout for us was the French Toast, which was easily some of the best French toast we've ever had at any diner. The chicken and waffles were excellent, and the Reuben was packed with flavor. The cheeseburger was juicy and delicious (although I personally would have skipped the grilled onions). One unique surprise was the recommended potato chip fries that came with the burger. They were thick cut, freshly made, and unlike any chips I've had before, dense chip shaped fries without being overly hard. Prices were very reasonable, with most meals around $20 or less, making it an excellent value for the quality and generous portions. Overall, the Red Apple Diner delivered fantastic food, outstanding service, a fun nostalgic atmosphere, and a memorable experience. We'll absolutely be back the next time we're in the Bremerton area.
