My wife and I just returned home from a great experience at Cafe Aroma. From the moment we walked, we were pleased, not only by the smell of great coffee and baked goods, but also the very friendly staff. I had a frozen coffee drink, a Zebra it was called, and it was very delicous. The wife had a frozen mint chocolate drink which she loved. Both these great drinks helped wash down the wonderful strawberry/banana crepe we enjoyed. It's hard to find a good banh mi (Vietnamese sandwich) these days so I was really excited when my coworker told me about this place. My first visit I got a taro shake with boba, it was good. Second visit I ordered a house combo banh mi. I called my order in ahead of time and it was ready when I came to pick it up. Third time, I called ahead to order a banh mi and taro shake with pearls. I was told it would take 15-20 min. Ok, no problem. I arrive there in 20 min (figured I'd give them more time to prepare). My order wasn't even started on. I ended up waiting another 10 min before I said something because I had to get back to work. All in all, it took 35 min from the time I called to place my order to the time I had it in my hand. And that was with me telling her I needed to go or I would be late to work. I could tell she was irritated with me pressing her, but come on- I placed my order ahead of time with the expectation it would be ready in the 15-20 min I was told. Had I known it would take 35+ min, I would have cancelled my order and ate elsewhere. Needless to say, I didn't even have time to eat my lunch before I went back to work because by then, my break was over. The Banh mi was good but taro was too sweet. They were also all out of boba so I ordered lychee jelly. She forgot to put the lychee jelly in my drink, so I'm a little disappointed in that. Lesson learned- great banh mi, but I think I'll pass on their drinks from now on and order WAY ahead of time and hopefully it's ready upon arrival. If not, make sure you have time to wait and if you don't, then just cancel your order. read more

Sooo good! Glad I finally found a good local sandwich place like this. They sell both "traditional" sandwich's and banh mi sandwiches. I tired the bbq chicken banh mi. The toasted baguette bread was both crunchy and airy , the chicken wasn't saucy so you can focus on all the other flavors too, fresh cilantro and pickled daikon and carrot , not too much mayo. A perfect bbq chicken banh mi. The owner is nice too. The only reason I knocked them a star is because they didn't have a sandwich I was looking forward to trying and the wait was a little longer than expected for being the only one there. But in the grand scheme of things those things don't matter much if your getting good customer service (owner was very apologetic) and great tasting food. It's an added bonus that they have many vegetarian options since half my household is vegetarian. read more

Drinks are very powdery and not good. I don't have much to say but we ordered a sandwich and never went back. First, even if there is no one in the restaurant they are extremely slow. Secondly, they are very unhygentic, they speak on the phone as they make the sandwich. Thirdly, the sandwich bread is not even fresh. In fact they take out the bread from the back which was actually from Lee's sandwiches. It was a huge disappointment. Once I received the order I just threw it out...might aswell go to Lee's Sandwich to eat! read more

In Manteca for work, needed some lunch. Saw this on Yelp and thought I'd give it a try. Asked for a recommendation and chose the House Combo sandwich. Absolutely delicious! Paired with a boba milk tea and now I'm wishing I could just relax and maybe nap instead of hitting the freeway to drive home. Wow Boba and Bahn Mi's as good as if not better than the Bay Area. We were looking for a coffee and breakfast place and came across cafe aroma on yelp - what a great find! Fruit smoothies, boba drinks and killer bahn mi's! They have all of the standards along with a spam and egg bahn mi (soooo good!) - the right amount of salty and sweet (with the pickled veggies). Regular sandwich menu as well and a couple of other breakfast options but why bother when you can have spam and egg! They have spring rolls and fresh rolls made to order - a must go to when in Manteca! read more

This place isn't bad, the owner is really nice and the place is clean. I wasn't too fond of his interpretation of boba though. I don't like my boba microwaved, but for it being one of the very few places that have boba in Manteca it wasn't bad. This place didn't leave me saying "oh, I gotta come back" or telling my wife "hey, let's go to our spot." It's cool though, but I like other spots around town. Absolutely delicious Vietnamese sandwiches and smoothies! Started off my day with a bbq chicken banh mi and a strawberry smoothie. Very fresh, very flavorful, and authentic. Pickled veggies were great. Chicken was awesome. Crusty and flavorful bread too. Smoothie is just the right balance of sweet and tart. You can pick up to two fruits for your smoothie. The people working there were also very friendly and attentive. Next time I'm out in Manteca I'm coming back, no question. read more

I've tried their "Breakfast" sandwich and the "Yosemite", and they were both so delicious! They're huge sandwiches and I'm small - I don't know HOW I finished them but I did! Stopped by around 2pm, and there was a couple who ordered couple items before us. That took long. One person on register/made food/drinks. We already waited atleast 15 minutes. Our turn finally to order. We ordered one black coffee, one avocado smoothie and one of their Italian panini sandwiches. It must have taken another 20 minutes for our items. Avocado was not fresh, and tasted like a stale coconut icee. I asked if there was any and was told is was a pre-made bought mixture.....I was shown this mixture and it was lime green. Ham inside the sandwich was one of those you buy from Walmart packages...sandwich pressed with a small home George foreman type grill....overall was not tasty either,even if there was pesto inside.we would've made better from home. Now we understand with one person working it could pose a long wait, but not with the quality and how items were made/prepared. It should have not taken this long. We left very disappointed and will not return. With the price we paid, I should have received better ham and real avocado. read more
