This is my favorite restaurant. The food is amazing and the staff treats you like family

This is our typical go-to, but went the other night for a chicken ceasar and the fish special. The chicken breast was sliced in half, so it was very thin and it was only one half of chicken with a lot of lettuce...the fish was a small piece of fish on top of a bed of spinach...and after starting with their calamari, which was rubbery and skimpy...the total was $75....I get it, inflation, but that does not impact quality...do better. read more

A very cute place and you definitely need to make reservations. The risotto filled pepper we got for an appetizer was really good but the shrimp on top of it was really, really overcooked. Like 3 days overcooked. Not sure why they even served that bad boy on top Anyways, throw the shrimp to the side and the delicious warm risotto with the shrimp inside was perfection! I would go again just for that appetizer. Entrees were good. When I see pasta with red sauce just poured over it, that really bothers me. Everyone knows you are supposed to marry the sauce with the pasta. I did not get a red sauce dish b/c I saw a few people did and I noticed the red sauce just poured over. I've been to Italy many times so I'm a hard person to please when it comes to Italian food. They do a great job for the size of the place and we enjoyed our night out there. read more

Very Pleasant Experience. We came for lunch, it was quiet but fully staffed, as the lunch progressed the restaurant filled, it was only 12:30, by the end of our lunch we felt lucky that we didn't have to wait. I ordered a tuna salad sandwich, it came on a sub roll and I added pickles, cheese and onions. It was good didn't come with any side but was filling. My partner had Nona's Pizza, a chicken broccoli Alfredo pizza, he ate the entire thing and was very happy. The decor and set up was lacking but nothing I wouldn't come back for. I would definitely be interested in coming back for a dinner but clearly need a reservation. read more

We live in Colorado and this is a must stop for us whenever we are in MA. We have favorites, of course, but their red sauce is delicious, so anything with red sauce will be a delight. The meatballs are full of flavor and a perfect texture. Our daughter loves their sweet potato pizza. The absolute must buy is the cannoli. Don't leave without them! read more

Ok Italian food. Nothing special but definitely satisfying. The place is tiny, so unless you're like us and show up at 4:30 on a Thursday, don't expect to be seated without a reservation. Nice open kitchen layout surrounded by tables. We tried their Mama Deb pizza (meat lovers) and mushroom ravioli. The pizza was nice and thin, well seasoned and topped. Mushroom ravioli were buried in tomato sauce and huge tomato chunks. The dish came with goat cheese, which is a favorite, but it overwhelmed the flavors. Could hardly taste the mushroom at all. Bread was nice, as you'd expect, but the dipping oil mix was too spicy (I have zero tolerance for spicy, so it may work for other people). Maybe I'll swing by another day for takeout tiramisu to see how it is. read more

This restaurant has the best Selection of food. The food is so good there and there mix drinks are awesome. I will be going on my birthday again this year. This restaurant is open for lunch at 11am. Which is great. You won't be disappointed. read more

Great food. Especially the lobster ravioli. Crowded restaurant and parking with cramped tables but pleasant outdoor dining space.

Yum! Not sure if this review is inflated due to a hard day of shopping at the Wrentham outlets but this little gem was a lifesaver! Food is pretty cheap and very delicious! Seat is limited but since we came at 2pm there wasn't an issue. Definitely recommend any dish with their vodka pasta sauce or meatballs! Note this place would get five stars if only they served bread prior to the meal like most Italian places! read more

Tonight was just a bottle of wine, some Prosciutto con Mozzarella (gone before I could take a picture) and some Calzones to go. We came to have appetizers and bring home some takeout. I always enjoy coming to Assisi for a meal, for drinks and appetizers at the bar or just for take out. read more

It's small. That's the most negative thing I can say. But it's cute. The service was very attentive and the wait staff managed the winter storm and late arrivals admirably. I had asparagus wraps which were wonderful with just a bit of warmed mozzarella and the fragrance of garlic Also homemade limoncello - smooth Veal wraps with Parmesan risotto and a lemony sauce My valentine had stuffed cannelloni with scallops and shrimp. The vodka sauce on hers was fantastic Desserts were not as spectacular as dinner but by then I did not care. Wife had peanut butter brownie cheesecake which she loved. My favorite local restaurant. Great Italian food, great staff. It's a small and lively location, so not perfect for quiet, intimate dinners, but you can always do takeout! Best to get a reservation, especially on the weekends. read more

Cafe Assisi is one of our favorite restaurants. The staff and owner are super friendly and the food is fantastic. We've been here probably a dozen times or more and never had a sub-par meal here. We've even had some food catered for a family party, and the food was just as fantastic. While we typically sit at the bar - it IS a small restaurant, so expect a wait. read more

I came here for a late lunch after shopping at the outlets with some family members. We called ahead to get a table set up for 6 and were seated quickly. The menu was large even for lunch with many delicious options. The portions were pretty large and all very good. The wait staff was also very friendly and attentive. As in many other reviews, this place is small. We went on Sunday and had to wait for about an hour to get a table for 4 even though there were no other parties of 4 waiting. Forget about going there with more than 4 people. I will rate what we had on a scale of 0 to 10. What an incredible experience. Small place with big, big flavor!! You won't be disappointed. Calamari was to die for, Assisi marinara sauce with them was incredible. Antipasto was perfect. I had the "short rib" special. These were anything but short! Dam things were 10" long and melt in your mouth good. Sheryl had eggplant Park with risotto - I hate it when I find a place this good but it's... a 90 minute drive from the house! If you go to the Wrentham mall - check this place out. First, beautiful outdoor seating. THAT is the three stars. Maybe what I ordered wasn't their best food. Staff was just polite. Caprese salad was four giant hunks of unripe, mealy tomato. And one small basil sprig. The end of summer , italian restaurant you'd expect beautiful,ripe, sliced tomato. My friend's pasta was pale, bloated and floating in a poor interpretation of garlic/butter/ scampi sauce, topped with mushy overcooked broccoli (?) Food was so disappointing. Caprese sandwich is very good. Lasagna is good but not $15 good. I would get it again at lunch when it is cheaper though. Meatballs are bland and cake portions in the case are small for the price. Nice staff This place is also near my work so I stop in periodically for the Caesar salads and the roasted vegetable and caprese sandwiches. Really good tiramisu too read more

My husband and I used to frequent here when we lived in the area years ago. With outdoor dining opening back up, we were in the mood to get out for some authentic Italian food but didn't want to have the hassle of driving into Boston or Providence. Cafe Assisi recently added patio seating, so we decided to take advantage. The entire experience was so lovely, professional and safe. We were happy to see the quality of the food was just as good as we remembered! I got the Gamberi di Constantino and my husband got the Seafood Fra Diavolo; both were incredible! You may not know it from first glance, but this tiny place is just as good, if not better, than any touristy, over priced place in the North End. Great apps, food and dessert. Had veal Marsala, very tender and good sauce, not enough mushrooms though. Son had the largest and yummiest calzone I've ever seen. Lots of meat, delicious. He Bolognese sauce was a little creamy for my husband and my daughters Alfredo sauce was a little watery but tasty. Carrot cake was enormous and yummy! read more

Loved my experience here! The food was fantastic and generously proportioned. I had the Bolognaise and was able to try the seafood fra diavolo and the ravioli with roasted butternut squash, all of which really hit the spot for me. It was an air conditioned refuge on a burning hot summer day, and our waitress was competent and polite. The only strange thing to note was that one waitress told us the wait would be 1-2 hours, but ten minutes later another waitress told us the wait was 5 minutes.... Oh well! read more

I've been here twice now and both times the food has been delicious so I will recommend Cafe Assisi for that and that alone but the service is awful. We walked in a waitress was talking with someone at the front entrance so we waited for her to seat us. The restaurant was not full at all, so we just went to the bar and sat there. The bartender was busy eating when we sat down. She took a bite of her food and then turned around and asked us what we wanted. So strange. The servers kept going behind the bar and filling up their soda glasses and talking with the bartender who basically just ignored us. We finally ordered food which was really good but they have got to get better help. I was a waitress and a bartender and I would never have ignored a customer. It was such a turn off! The bartender ONLY paid attention to us after she dropped the check and we were signing it. Once again the Food was excellent but we still both walked away with a bad taste in our mouths. read more

Been there once. Great little place with nice atmosphere and food. Saves a trip to north end or federal hill

Walking into Cafe Assisi on a Sunday afternoon, you will receive murmurs of hellos and respectful greetings from the staff. However, I was fortunate enough to be greeted and escorted to my table by Dereck, the owner. It was like family instantly with his generous spirit, and a personal demeanor that was relaxed and comforting. He heard my concerns about food preparation (nutrition wise) and told me that it could be prepared anyway I needed. Felt like home. And then our waitress Taylor came over and continued where Dereck left off with her magnetic personality. Her presence brightened up the room, and her greetings were a reflection of her personality- warm, engaging, and kind, and a huge sense of humor. She certainly was the professional every boss cherishes. The environment was cozy and clean and the tables were full. But, somehow they made you feel like you were the only customer at the time. The meals were delicious, starting with the homemade bread and the portions were over the top. Veal Sorrentino and Pesce Mediterranean had that Italian flair and you felt like you were eating it from the shores of Sicily! Had to try dessert (cousin's birthday) and that too did not disappoint with the Cannoli on point. As a customer I was blessed to encounter Dereck, Taylor, and the amazing staff and food at Cafe Assisi. They do things with such a passion that the customers can't help but enjoy and benefit from their experience there. Suffice it to say that Cafe Assisi is a tribute to the description of 5 star restaurants. I am certain that customers will continue to fall in love with this restaurant's charm, professionalism, food and success just as I have! The host was very accommodating. We loved the two sisters that were making sure our drinks were topped all night. The food was really good. We got stuffed cherry peppers, little necks, calamari, steak special, seafood pasta, lemon and death by chocolate. All delicious. read more

Caprese salad: 2 thick slices of stop and shop tomatoes with 2 thin slices of mozzarella. 3 olives, 2 thin slices proscuttio. $14. Pasta used to be al dente. Now its overcooked and mushy. We live in Wrentham but hadn't stopped by in years until we popped in for lunch today--WELL WORTH IT. 5 stars makes sense because they crushed it in all 3 key categories--food, value and service! It's an intimate setting, and it works hard to give you a nice authentic Italian atmosphere, from the decor to the servers. Bathroom is immaculate. Food--delicious pizza, eggplant parm, and calzone. The calzone was the largest we'd ever encountered. Planetary size. Great value for a family of 4. Server was very sweet and manager/owner welcomed us personally on the way in and out.
