"I used to make a living, man Pickin' the banana Now I'm a guide for the CIA Hooray! for the USA" (The Ramones) I was unfamiliar with the Italian word "Evviva". So, when I checked it out I learned that it translated into "Hooray", which is a pretty cool thing, don't you think? Coincidentally, "Hooray" appropriately fits our impression of Evviva Trattoria. It was excellent in every way. First and foremost, the excellence and a well-deserved "Hooray" started with Andrew, our server. He was a standout- easily one of the very best we've interacted with all year. What a fantastic bubbly personality of humor, information and overall customer service. Andrew started us off with four complimentary rolls and herbed oil, then it was time to check out their menu. After our big lunch at Legal Sea Foods, we weren't too hungry for our dinner at Evviva. We ended up ordering two small Evviva Salads (@$7). It was a good portion of artisan greens, cucumbers, olives, grape tomatoes, roasted red peppers, fresh mozzarella, and ciabatta croutons. Everything was fresh, cold and excellent. We decided to share an order of the Evviva Meatballs ($15.50). This was five delicious house made meatballs, a wonderful marinara, a scoop of whipped ricotta, and two slices of toasted ciabatta. We were having such a pleasant time chatting with Andrew, we decided to extend our dinner with a slice of lemon cream cake ($11), and two coffees at $4. The cake was fantastic. Evviva is in a strip mall within walking distance of a few hotels, including ours. If you go, check out their great M-F 2:30-5:30 Happy Hours. We arrived too late to take advantage of it, but it sure looks like a great option. Hooray for Evviva!

There were 7 of us for lunch before going to The Company Theater of Norwell for a Christmas play. Everybody's food was good.. from the pasta dishes to the pizza and Caesar's salad that was shared amongst three of us. Dave who was so good to talk to booked our private little space that worked out perfectly. Wendy was our server and she was wonderful.. came by just enough times to make sure all was good at our table! This is our 5th or 6th time here which tells you something up front!! Just go.. my only complaint is that it is not a warm and cozy place. I'm thinking some curtains in their large windows might offer a comforting atmosphere. Just my opinion. Thank you for a job well done!

Came for dinner. Was still nice weather out and the heater was ablaze, so we were the first party to sit outdoors. I got the feeling our server Lea wasn't thrilled with being assigned to us. She was nice enough, but disappeared for lengthy periods--like she was assigned an area indoors and our table was out of the way. I also don't like when kitchen runners deliver food. They're unfamiliar with who ordered what and I like my server to check back promptly. Case in point: My friend ordered the Evviva club with eggplant but was erroneously served an eggplant parm. The kitchen manager came out to apologize and made the correct entree and comped the incorrect meal, but my friend had eaten half before the server returned and noticed the error. I had the mushroom ravioli and added a chicken cutlet. Both were delicious but just too much rich sauce. We shared the mini cannoli dessert. I do like the food here, but service was just off tonight.

Evviva by default. (The restaurant we had planned to attend was closed.) Why not- I love Italian! Pros: - Friendly server who was good at his job - Modern, clean atmosphere with plenty of parking and seating - Free bread and dipping sauce- yes please! - Kids menu with coloring activities and crayons provided - Extensive menu - Accommodating (i asked for breaded chicken in my club) - Their chips were delicious - Good sized portions Cons: - The free bread dipping sauce was a salt bomb. I love salt but this was a little much. - Evviva club was flavorless. I asked for a side of balsamic glaze to get some kind of flavor in my sandwich. It comes with the glaze on it but I could not taste it! - The French Onion dip is more like a cup of chopped onions with a little sour cream. I paid $1.75 for the dip and I did not eat it. Too much! - My daughter said the cheese ravioli was flavorless. - My husband alerted me his Bacon, chicken ranch pizza didn't have much flavor either. While Evviva suited our need yesterday for dinner, we discussed we won't be back due to lack of flavor.

They started out strong, sat outside by the fire, the bread and oil are fantastic, they took my order fairly quick. Then it slowly slid downhill. Fried ravioli app was just OK. The Meatball Fra Diavola was not very good. Pasta was rubbery, meatballs were mushy, sauce was bland. Service was slow, and they were not busy. Other tables got attention from their servers???

Mediocre at best ... poor quality food with slow service. The prices are reasonable as its only redeeming quality. Would not recommend.

We made a quick stop at La Familia after spending the afternoon at Jane D'Amico Playground, and it was hands down the best decision we made. Everything about our visit was phenomenal: Food: I ordered the mussels in white wine sauce. My son got the chicken parm, and he hasn't stopped raving about it. It was, by far, the most comforting and delicious meal we've had in a long time. Hospitality: The staff here is unmatched. A special shout-out to the hostess, Noelle, who was absolute gold! She went above and beyond by bringing my son paper so he could draw while we waited. Speaking of waiting... the food came out super fast! Bonus: They do NOT play around with their bread portions. Big, fresh, WARM, and generous. You gotta love a place that knows the key to a happy heart is extra bread. We left feeling so grateful, full, and taken care of. La Familia is officially going to be our mandatory post-playground pit stop from now on.

She also made some excellent recommendations throughout the evening and clearly knows the menu well. I especially appreciated the fun wine conversation and knowledge she brought to the table. It is about reading the table, adding personality, knowing when to make a recommendation, and making the entire experience feel effortless. Olivia did all of that exceptionally well. The crab cakes did not have much flavor in my humble opinion and would pass on them in the future. We also had a bottle of Hall cabernet sauvignon which was 2x + $10 over the normal retail price. It's a nice wine. For our main course we shared the 20 oz bone in ribeye medium rare with a side of the risotto. I thought the portion size of the risotto pretty small for the price. The steak was very good. It came on a plate and was not cut, bone still on. The steak knives on the table were pretty much useless. It felt like trying to cut it with a butter knife and definitely needed a better knife for the job. My partner ordered tiramisu for dessert, I didn't try it but she said it was good.

The portions are good and the prices are reasonable compared to other places in the area. They still give a salad or soup with many of the dinners, and serve nice Italian bread with butter and olive oil. If your try this place and like what you got, chances are very good you will like it the next time because they are consistent. The only thing that occasionally varied is the steak tips. I chalk this up to being hard to determine in the kitchen, because until you cut into the steak, you may not know if it contains a lot of fat and nerve. All the waitresses are awesome. For example, on our recent visit there was a man with 4 small kids by himself. One of the children, who was very young, was really loud. The guy was trying to do what he could to keep the noise under control. I watched what was going on, and the waitress for the table (Dee who is absolutely awesome), another waitress, and even the woman who greet you and assigns a table all were going over and being nice and trying to help the guy out. That is really awesome and something I have never seen anywhere. To The Rome owners, management, and staff: Please keep doing things right.
