Amongst our group of 13 people, we all had issues connecting to the WiFi and the tv. I convinced the front desk to give us an iPad to manage the music and that also wasn't working. I called the guys to the room multiple times to troubleshoot and it still wasn't working. We fought with the technology throughout the whole 3 hour reservation which really made it difficult to enjoy the experience. During the times it was working, the app was glitchy and we had difficulties seeing the queue and skipping over songs. Also, one of the microphones was barely working. Additionally, before booking I inquired amongst a number of places to compare prices. We picked this place because we were told that there would be an assigned server to our room to allow us to enjoy the open bar experience and not have to step out to the bar to get drinks. Upon arriving, I was told that wasn't the case, even though it was in my email. After a lot of back and forth, they finally agreed to come serve to our room but there were still times I had to leave the room and chase them down. I have done karaoke many times and this was a very stressful experience.

I write this with genuine sadness, not anger. Sagres Bar and Grill was once a place I frequented…read morewith fondness and loyalty. I have been coming here for years and watched it slowly--but unmistakably--decline. What I experienced on December 18, 2025, however, crossed every possible line of decency, safety, and responsibility. What I personally witnessed that night was repulsive and deeply alarming. There was open drug use and apparent drug selling happening in plain sight, treated as if it were completely normal. Even more disturbing, two men were openly engaging in sexual activity directly in front of other guests. People around me were visibly shocked and uncomfortable, myself included. This behavior continued in the presence of minors, who were dining with their parents. No establishment that claims to be a restaurant--or a place of community--should ever allow something like this to occur. I immediately brought this to the attention of the manager, expecting swift action. Instead, I was met with complete indifference. The manager did absolutely nothing. No intervention. No concern. No attempt to protect guests, families, or the basic standards of public decency. That lack of response was as disturbing as the behavior itself. What was once a fun and social karaoke environment has also been completely destroyed. The manager now allows anyone to access and interfere with the karaoke laptop. As a result, songs are routinely cut off mid-verse or mid-sentence simply because someone doesn't like what's being sung. It has turned what was once entertainment into chaos and hostility. To make matters worse, dangerous confrontations and fights appear to be common. The atmosphere feels volatile and unsafe. Frankly, this place feels one or two drinks away from a serious tragedy. The absence of oversight, accountability, and basic crowd control creates an environment where someone could easily be seriously hurt--or worse. This review is written as a warning. What Sagres Bar and Grill has become is not just disappointing--it is unsafe. Until ownership and management take immediate and serious action, I cannot recommend this establishment to anyone, especially families or longtime patrons who remember what it used to be. What once felt like a neighborhood gathering place now feels like a place to avoid at all costs.

We hit some traffic on the way, which made us about ten minutes late. They strictly specified to come on time to the reservation. Regardless, employees were accommodating towards us as it was a very busy weekend. Regardless of when we arrived, we were fine still paying our full time. As soon as we paid, we were brought over to our room. On the way in, I was shocked to see many very large rooms to accommodate big parties up to 20-30. I also noticed a chicken restaurant connected to this place. Once we entered our room, I saw menus for their food. This made sense; I would assume they partner to sell the product of the chicken place. Aside from that option, they do allow guests to bring their own food and drink. We had a dinner reservation after our karaoke, so we just bought a few snacks they were selling at the front area. In terms of our experience, the room and system were easy to navigate. Pretty similar to any other karaoke, you choose your song option from a large book of different selections. You type in the respective code for the song, and it plays the background and lyrics for you to sing along. I was also happy to see disposable covers for the microphones to keep things sanitary as you hold them so close to your face and mouth area. We all had a great time during our experience. They had a very good selection of songs from a wide variety of artists and years. Two hours in this room was a little long, but that was something in our control. I'd say the golden amount of time at a place like this is an hour. Regardless, the price for 5 people came out to $20 per person. I think this is very fair compared to other karaokes and considering we had a two hour booking. Overall, I really have nothing negative to say about this place. Not only is it super fun and clean, but it's right around the corner from the Main Street of K-town in Edgewater. It's a great place in proximity to awesome restaurants and activity options. I'd definitely come again.

There's also a large parking lot out front, so parking was easy and convenient. The rooms themselves were decent, but the karaoke setup definitely felt outdated and was harder to use than expected. There were two ways to select songs: using the Korean karaoke system or a Samsung tablet connected to YouTube. We ended up using YouTube, but the system was frustrating to navigate. The tablet had a thick film over the screen that made clicking difficult, and searching songs had to be extremely specific for karaoke vibes (for example, typing "Love Story KTV" instead of just the song name). It was also inconvenient trying to queue songs while someone else was singing because you had to minimize the current video to search the next one, making it hard for the person singing to follow the lyrics. On top of that, every time we tried adding songs to the queue, it would accidentally click into another video and cut off the current song mid performance. A lot of time was wasted just trying to search and add songs. It would be better if they allowed Bluetooth connection to personal devices instead, so adding songs would be more efficient, just a thought...

The inside aesthetic is beautiful and the private room we were in had a rotating disco ball. We had dinner beforehand so didn't eat much, but ordered fries that were hot and fresh. The wifi wasn't as good as it could've been because our songs we played from YouTube would skip a little, but it was fine. A minor complaint- the music was LOUD. There was no way to lower the volume. There were 2 massive speakers overhead in our room, probably only needed one for the size of the room. Not a problem for drunk after-hours fun, but it was a little loud for the kids. The first interactive feature was the cool red carpet plus step & repeat featuring the name of the space(an ode to the 90's colloquialism "word is bond") Upon entering you can tell the founder was very intentional with the placement of each & every nostalgic piece of black art. It's a beautifully brilliant ode & execution of black culture, our layered nuances, our style, fashions, phrases, beauty & brilliance. This space is a content creation haven filled with endless creative possibilities. Naturally you'd think this was a pop up selfie museum, but it's much more. Not only is this space designed to go down memory lane of the 80's & 90's, you can see and touch some relic gems. You can rent the space for special occasions such as Birthdays, art showcase, book signing, just to name a few, the whole space can be transformed to fit your individual need. From the lovely living room set adorned with animal print wall paper, beautiful black art, quotes, a rotary dial telephone, a cozy couch with colorful throw pillows & last but not least a working record player with plenty of old school vinyl to set the mood. A mixture of either old, sketchy, no sex appeal and rough around the edges. The dance floor was packed and the music was on point. There was some people that set up food in the back but it left a trail of an odor that was not appetizing. Drinks were ok at best but when I asked for a cup with ice it seemed to be an issue. Very off putting. Not quite sure what the issue was.... The bartender brought the manager over and I had to specify I wanted it for my beer. Yes, I'm a weirdo if I don't get a frosted glass, I'll take a cup with ice. The manager proceeds to ask me ; "So you want me to pour the beer into the cup with ice?" UMMM yes I don't mind pouring it my damn self but if it makes you more comfortable, knock yourself out. It truly didn't make a difference to me who poured it, I just wanted some damn ice to cool myself off! I'm not sure what type of sketchy and shady people they deal with but I am not the one. My boyfriend and I run a good tab on drinks, give me what I'm asking for and paying for! Meanwhile, I did not see just about any of the 30-40 people on the dance floor buy a drink. I then saw hookah's on a table and the price list. Unfortunately, they were not providing hookah service that night. So why have them out? Whewwww I love my house music community and love the Lincoln Park festival that is close to the bar but this past Sunday this bar and crowd missed the mark. The only redeeming factor was the DJ. I highly doubt I'd return unless it were to vibe out and dance to a DJ I reaaaaallly love.
