Among the worst customer service I've ever seen. Have been a customer there for at least 10 years and ignored the slight acts of not-so-great customer service, but today reached a new low. I ordered an open-face bagel and cheese heated sandwich. I noticed when the owner brought it out it was in a bag, meaning he had not made an open-face sandwich as I requested. When I opened the bag and foil around the bagel, I noticed it was a bit messy inside (which is why ordered it open-face style - to prevent that). So, I asked the young girl at the register for a box, and she in turn went to back of the store and asked the owner for it. I then heard him scream (literally)." "the cheese isn't even melted. I'm not giving him a box). Not sure why he was so angry. Not sure why he didn't present my sandwich to me as I requested. But I am sure that will be the visit for this long-time customer. The food was ok. I ordered a sandwich and my kids wanted bagels with peanut butter and cream cheese. I spent $16 there on two bagels, a sandwich and a coffee. When my son wanted jam to go with the peanut butter, the girl charged me $.90 for two tiny packets of jam. I won't be back. They are stingy and inflexible. read more

Cafe Bagel is my favorite place for a casual, quick weekend breakfast in my neighborhood. They're located in the same shopping center as the Giant, Fitness 19, and Pazani off of 103 in Elkridge. They serve breakfast and lunch, but I've only had breakfast here which is served all day! They have coffee, bagels, breakfast sandwiches, eggs, omelets, delis sandwiches, and baked goods. I love their coffee and the sausage, egg, and cheese sandwich on a bagel. The eggs here are always cooked to perfection. The cheese is good quality boar's head. The only reason I give them 4 stars instead of 5 is because they quality of the bagels isn't anything like an amazing NY bagel. I really stick with the bagel sandwiches here--the bagels on their own are good but nothing too exciting. You order at the counter, grab a seat, and wait for your food to be delivered to you. They have a really young staff, but we've never had any problems here. It can get a little crowded on the weekends, but the service is fast. I also like that they have pitchers of water out...I hate buying bottled water! I'd definitely recommend Cafe Bagel if you're looking for a good, inexpensive, quick breakfast. read more

This place is totally below basic. They have a very boring menu, with limited selections of very boring and antiquated breakfast and lunch offerings. The service is pretty awkward and slow, almost like they don't get much business, I wonder why? I see others stating that this Bagel place has totally underwhelming bagels, and doesn't even pride itself on it's coffee. The place doesn't even really cater to a healthy customer base (it's in a shopping center with a good gym, so I could exploit that for it's benefit - but nope). I would avoid going here, again, this was my third attempt here and each has been a lackluster visit. I'd recommend a 7-11 far before recommending this place. Was staying at the Holiday Inn next door on business and stopped in for a quick lunch.I had the Andy's Special on a garlic bagel with chips. There were some good and bad things about Cafe Bagel. The Good: - Large menu with a lot of great options - They have salt bagels (they were out but I still have to commend this) - Your meal comes with a pickle - More cream cheeses on the menu than I've ever seen The Bad: - This place feels kind of dirty on this inside - The menu is extremely small and difficult to read (even for a 28 year old with great vision) and there are no paper menus to read - They have a bizarre refills policy that is very off putting I don't normally write reviews in this format but for Cafe Bagel it felt appropriate. If you are looking for a good almost New York Style bagel then Cafe Bagel is your place. This place has a good offering of spreads, bagels, sandwiches pastries, juices and drinks. For a small shop they do offer a good amount of variety plus there bagels are one of the better in the area. My wife and were tried for the same old small non-NY bagel from dunkin donuts and such, so we decided to try out Cafe bagel and we have def. found out local bagel place. As I mentioned they offer a good array of spreads and bagels, my two favs are the everything bagel with chive cream cheese or the whole wheat with honey butter. Both are solid items depending on if you want the sweet or savory taste. Also a plus is that you can ask the bagel to be toasted, spead on the side or they will put it on for you, so you can be lazy and have Cafe bagel do all the work or you can do the spreading yourself... your choice. The coffee is decent too, I am not a coffee consouir so I can't stack it up against say a Starbucks or a home blend, but I thought it was good and they offer a dark and light roast. So if your in the mood for bagels, sandwiches, or coffee Cafe Bagel is def. the place to go... No bagel no bagel no bagel, swing batta swing Cheers mates and mind the cream cheese. read more

I've been coming here off an on for the past 6 years when I've needed a quick bagel fix. It's a nice solid bagel place right up there with the Bagel Bin. The last time I went it looked like they had expanded their menu to include more lunch options and they rearranged to make the eat in area look bigger. I saw that they had some vegetarian sandwiches on their menu that sounded good, but I typically get the usual cream cheese or egg and cheese on a bagel. I've noticed in reviews for bagel places, people always compare them to NY bagels. I don't know about all that, but their bagels taste pretty much like every other decent independent bagel place in the state. Ordered a supreme bagel with cream cheese and an egg bagel with bacon/egg/cheese. The supreme bagel was seasoned with goodies and was delicious. On the same level as Bagel Bin plus or minus. Might not be up to par with NY locals, but certainly satisfactory. Not sure if it was just the egg bagel itself, but I thought the egg sandwich lacked any flavor and was dry throughout. Would recommend for a dozen bagels and maybe you will have better luck with a breakfast sandwich. read more

I cannot give a review on their coffee or their bagels. I did not buy a bagel but I did buy a coffee. Unfortunately, I was not given an opportunity to taste the coffee because within five minutes of purchase the coffee cup disintegrated. The entire cup poured throughout my car only leaving a congealed mess of a cup. I then brought this to the attention of this establishment and was met only with condescension and terrible service. Not only do they serve their drinks in Styrofoam cups but they do so in cups that cannot be healthy for you to drink out of. I will never be back. read more

I love the variety of cookies and pasteries that they have here and they are all so good. So are the bagels, cream cheese, and their deli sandwiches. The egg salad sandwich with the toasted rye bread is my favorite. The chicken salad sandwich is also very delicious. I love that they focus of the freshness and quality of their food. The service and coffees are honestly not that great but the food and desserts really make up for it. So what if you get bad service. You're paying for the food not the service. I will never go back to this place, nor recommend it for anyone. I spent over $7 for a bagel (banana nut) with cream cheese (honey walnut) and a smoothie. Normally I wouldn't mind as much, for a better product, from say Panera or Bagel Bin, but I almost returned the food and asked for a refund (was too hungry to throw it away). My bagel was stale, and the cream cheese was warm and had a funny sour taste to it, not to mention the fact that they wrapped it so tight there was only coverage on one side and the outside when separated. I had to go back to the counter, twice, to get my strawberry smoothie. The first time I gave up waiting for the employees to stop talking to each other, and the second time, I received a vacant look from the cashier, who immediately after handling money, smiled and said, "Oh, that's right... It's in the machine still, I just have to put it in a cup." Then I waited a few more seconds with her vacantly smiling to skip washing her hands and finally fill my order. Then she walked back to the register and told me to go around the counter to go pick it up. The best part-- for a $4 smoothie, with a sign featuring "fresh fruit smoothies", it was nothing more than blended ice and syrup... sickeningly sweet syrup. Like the kind you put in snowballs. I've had better "smoothies" from McDonalds. And they were cheaper. And I wasn't the only disappointed customer. I took a friend with me, who got the "Supreme" bagel, with the veggie cream cheese, the combination of which was so salty she couldn't eat more than half of it (also stale with cream cheese squished out the sides). The conversation we were missing? Well we weren't exactly missing it. The store owner/ manager was reprimanding an employee directly behind the counter, for all customers to see and hear. Absolutely love this place! Bagels are as close to New York bagels as you can get. I asked one of the workers and they make their own dough for the bagels and bake them fresh every morning. They also use real eggs compared to many places. The only breakfast sandwiches i get are from this place since places like dunkin and mcdonalds microwave frozen eggs. Great place! read more

He just told me they only do hot peppers on lunch sandwhiches not brealfast sandwhiches even though inhabe had it 100 times before. We stopped coming here few years ago because of the customer service mainly. Food is so so, nothing special. It's close and convenient but I avoid this place. They charge you extra if you want your bagel sliced and another extra charge if you want it toasted. They try to get every cent out of you. The food is decent and I have no issue with the young staff but what makes me give a 2-star rating is the ownership and unwelcoming environment. I haven't been in about 2 months after the owner did not honor my frequent specialty coffee card where I was due a free one. He said they don't use these anymore. Even though there was no expiration date. It seems pretty chintzy to not give me drink I saved up for even if they don't use the cards anymore. He was pretty rude about it too and accusatory. Not sure why and I feel good customer service would have honored it. There are also many handwritten notes in the cafe with warnings. I passed by Friday and noticed a new one in the front door saying "NO LOITERING PLEASE: 1 HOUR TIME LIMIT WHILE CONSUMING FOOD. THANK YOU". That was just another straw to enforce why I don't visit this establishment. I don't want a clock by me while I eat. I'll go somewhere where a relaxed environment is supported and encouraged.
