Everything bagel with jalapeño salsa cream cheese packed some heat

Food was fresh - warmly toasted - cold cream cheese that slightly melts. Added some putting hot vanilla brewed coffee. Quiet atmosphere and plenty of seating. Simple ordering and call out for pick up.

Honest review ** I thoroughly enjoying trying new bagel spots and Sam's was recently recommended to me. I got an everything bagel with cream cheese and a cinnamon sugar bagel. Great amount of cream cheese, bagels are freshly made and best to go in the morning. Owner was pretty cool too, also a nice study spot if you're a college student and all your local coffee shops are crowded.

Everything bagel with lox, cream cheese and the fixins

Sometimes I like to treat myself. You know, carbs are bad...well maybe not for you, but for me....they are the devil. Anywho, on this particular day, I was craving a bagel with lox. Enter Sam's bagels. I pass by it often, but have never stopped on in. Why not give it a try. The inside it larger than what I expected, they have various options from just bagels to other pastries. On this date, I decided to try the bagel and lox sandwich, they happen to have two, one that is an actual sandwich and the other which is open faced. The bagel itself was okay. It was slightly more chewy than what I would like. I kinda felt that they could have given me more lox and fresher pieces of lettuce. The sandwich itself came with a bag of chips and a pickle which I thought was a good deal. All in all I thought the experience was fair to middling. Good to know that there is a bagel shop near by.

The bagels and cream cheese are quite good and reasonably priced (6 bucks and change for two). Sure, I've had better with a better selection of flavors... just not in the area. So, if you want a quick, cheap breakfast, you'll do well here. Their problem is they also do lunch. I ordered a corned beef - and it just wasn't very good, like at all. The pizza bagels look descent, so I might try that, and I may even go in for an egg sandwich (served all day) but I think I'll avoid their deli-meat sandwiches in the future. Staff is friendly, and patient (I tend to be indecisive). They keep the place clean. Parking is plentiful in the lot too, which is a plus, but the building this is in lacks the charm of downtown Catonsville.

Bacon and egg on an everything bagel

Bagels were somewhere in between good and great, and Sam's offers a wide variety of flavors and types of sandwiches. The shop was clean, and the staff was extremely friendly! I ordered an everything bagel with bacon and egg but much preferred just a plain bagel or a bite of my mom's pb&j on a sunflower bagel because the egg was microwaved and flavorless. Overall, would recommend.

Portion sizes are small for the price. Service is slower than it should be. I was expecting more based on previous reviews.

I asked the lady who answered the phone if the menu item "Chicken filet w/french fries" on the overstuffed sandwiches section of the menu was a fried filet or if it was a grilled filet. There is another chicken filet w/ pepper jack cheese listed below that menu item. I asked if I could get the chicken filet with french fries and I asked her to confirm that it comes with french fries. She said that it doesn't and began to lose patience. I explained to her that I see a menu item that says a "chicken filet with french fries" so I wanted to know what that was. She clarified again that the sandwich comes alone and you have to order the fry separate. I was okay with that, however, I was confused because it is listed as "Chicken filet w/ french fries" on the website. I could tell by this time she was annoyed by the tone and her voice and I was about to say okay just give me the french fries and the sandwich. I was working so I really just wanted to be able to pick up something really quick and come back and eat while I continue to work. However things changed when she said do you want it or not?. I was taking a back but I composed myself and I said Well ma'am I'm just trying to understand what the sandwich is on your menu that comes with fries. She said again that doesn't come with fries it's separate. I still wasn't understanding or accepting it because it says on the menu chicken fillet with french fries by this time she was really annoyed and she put the phone down but didn't tell me she was leaving the phone I could just hear her taking orders in the background I was so appalled, I just sat there and listened because I could not believe it. When she came back to the phone she asked me if I wanted to order or not. Overall this was a horrible interaction in this review is way too long so I'll try to sum it up. The woman was disrespectful. However, I went over to the restaurant anyway hoping that we can gain some understanding because perhaps there was a language barrier or something. Unfortunately, her disrespect of me escalated as she began yelling at me and I had to repeatedly tell her to lower her voice when she is speaking to me. While I was there she had the realization that she was wrong. She at first try to argue with me as she did on the phone but then she realized that I was referring to the menu that they have on their website which is incorrect. I explained to her that it is not my problem that HER website is wrong. She went on to say that I should have told her that I was looking at the menu online. If I am not in front of you, you should assume that I'm looking at your menu on your website. Especially, if I'm asking questions about your menu you should know that I'm not a regular and I do not know your menu that's why I'm asking you questions. Why is it on me to tell you that I'm looking at your menu online? You mean you shouldn't be wrong. I have never been treated that way at any restaurant ever in my 40 something years of living. She is rude and she will never get another penny from me. Take a look at the menu yourself. Two months later, it's still wrong. Listed as Chicken Filet and fries under overstuffed sandwiches. https://taneytowndelicatonsville.com/overstuffed-sandwiches/ Note: It is my picture featured at the top of this yelp profile. It's a sub i bought the first time I visited. I will contact Yelp to remove my photo or I will delete the photo from my profile all together so that it disappears. I will not have any part in promoting this restaurant. She doesn't deserve any business.

The corn beef sandwich came out good and I mentioned it was simple because it's literally just corn beef with some white bread and some cheese, but it was actually pretty tasty for breakfast. The coffee flight came out and it's on a large paddle and it looked really delicious. I have to say the regular flavored lattes and the croissant weren't my favorite choices, but as I started moving down the paddleboard towards flavored lattes and the Blondi bar, it was pretty good. There were 6 of us, and they were able to put two tables together to accommodate us. I was overall disappointed with the food. The spinach came out on the side of the eggs and was uncooked. The cheese was not melted, and the eggs were burnt (dark brown and dry). The waitress was kind enough to take the eggs back for the cheese and spinach to be mixed/melted. They were still burnt and flavorless. I picked around and ate what I could. I also ordered some kind of spinach and feta pastry from the front case, which was good. We also all enjoyed the homefries which were crispy with a unique seasoning. We ordered the stuffed french toast which had a great flavor, but it wasn't really stuffed, there were just toppings on it. My nephew ordered the chicken and waffles. He's 15. I'm guessing that waitress assumed he was a kid and gave him the kids portion. Either way, the fried chicken looked like two pieces of frozen chicken schnitzel. My mother ordered the Reuben and did not like it at all because it lacked flavor.

This is a familiar place that updates the look and menu now and then, yet still feels like home. We often get a beet salad when it's available. Matthew's is scrumptious, with tender sweet juicy roasted beets, tasty grilled chicken, red onion slices and fresh spinach, tangy crumbled bleu cheese, and delightful candied walnuts, complimented by tart raspberry vinaigrette. By the way, it's gluten-free. We loved the rich cream of crab soup du jour, full of crab lumps and full of flavor, with a little spice from good old Old Bay. Delicious and dreamy.
