Gosh I love this place. Used to come way back in the early 2000s when it was just a pretty decent cafe with great pastries. To see what it has transformed into is nothing short of a spectacle. What a surprise! We met a friend here for lunch, and to be honest I wasn't expecting much given that it's called a "bakery" and looks to be a tiny sport on a corner with limited to no parking around it. After parking about a block away on a residential street, we walked up and realized that the space is much bigger than I'd realized. It actually seems to have taken over two store fronts, using one as the order/service counter and the second as a sit down dining space. There's a space (gas?) heater that looks like a pellet stove/wood stove in the seating area; there's also an L-shaped outdoor seating space off this room, with glass doors for good weather. There are two display cases for pastries, and a relatively good menu of egg-type dishes (omelets, scrambles), sandwiches, and in season I wouldn't be surprised to see a soup or two available. Of course, there are numerous coffee and tea drinks and a large variety of cookies, brownies, scones, etc. The space is well-designed, with adequate roping off of the few tables in the entry room from both the bathroom and the order line for the lunchtime rush. Folks sitting in the front space have a choice of window counter seating and small two-tops. It's fast causal type ordering if you're getting something other than pastry and coffee: order, pay, take a number and find your seat if you're dining in. The server didn't actually look for our number, though, just called out our name when the food was ready. My meal was eggs and toast, and that's what I got - no option for potatoes or another side. My friends each had sandwiches, one with grilled bread and on not. Servings were regular sized, not supersized but the food was good. I had an excellent iced coffee; they had tea - one hot, one iced. Lots of options. We tried three different desserts. My favorite was the peanut butter brownie. We came at 11am, before the lunch rush and had no problem finding seating or with noise. When we left, it was jam packed. This may be one of the few cozy spots in the neighborhood (since I was visiting friends who live in Fall River and don't know it that well, I can't be sure about that). This will become a regular spot when I get together with this group - we don't have to meet in Providence now! read more

New Boston Bakery really is perfection. Everything I've ever had is 10/10. I have yet to try a scone half as good as NBB. If the decadent pastries, or gourmet sandwiches aren't enough, the service is outstanding. And the atmosphere, quaint yet elegant, warm, inviting, and beautiful. Jim puts the same level of detail in his delicious treats as his outdoor window boxes, and decorative charm. I've gotten to know Jim because I volunteer with a few non-profits and Jim was always helping us out. We could always count on Jim to be part of our fundraising or offer the bakery in some way to help out. He has come through to help numerous nonprofits (not just the ones I've been involved with) and I have attended several fundraisers for different nonprofits at his bakery. His devotion to bettering the city is exemplary and his business is justly highly regarded. We visit the bakery regularly with my son (he's 3.5yo now but has been going since 1yo) and they kindly give him a cookie and are very sweet towards him. My son always enjoys visiting "The Muffin Man" (Jim) and loves the pumpkin muffins. Jim was going on vacation and had some extra pumpkin muffins and rather than them go to waste, he hand delivered them to our house knowing they were my son's favorite. They were still warm from the oven! Whenever our son asks to see his "best friends" Jim and Jen (barista), it's hard to say no. My favorites: scones, harvest crumb muffin, cream turnover (real whipped cream!), pistachio muffin, the highlander sandwich, thumbprint cookie, butter horns, danishes! Jimmy started this business long ago and it's still going strong! It's clean, cute but most of all delicious! There is plenty of room to sit and enjoy breakfast, a decadent pastry, a spot of tea or a cuppa Joe or come a bit later and partake in lunch. They have homemade soups, paninis and wraps. I went to this bakery after moving out of Fall River. And I am so sad that I never tried it when I was there. Their prices are reasonable compared to other bakeries in the area and their food and services are beyond excellent! We are vegetarians and a bit picky about our coffee and food (my husband more than I) but John made the omelettes so good that I can't wait to go back already. I waiting for my parents to visit me so I can take them here. The customer service of cashiers is amazing. The smiles, not rushing you through your order, and answering all questions is excellent. We like omelette for breakfast and John was so sweet to make them for us when it was not even on their menu. He came out to ask us how it was and then came again to check. You can't beat that kind of customer care and love! We felt very special. We sat outside. It's like a small patio with nice plants around it. It is very welcoming. We left very happy! Everything about New Boston Bakery is top notch! I love going there for lunch, they have so many delicious sandwiches and salads. I can't recall a time that I didn't love my food. It's difficult to leave without getting a delicious pastry. In particular, I love the raspberry bar, pumpkin cream cheese muffin, and real cream chocolate chip cookie sandwich. It really is the cutest bakery, and they decorate especially beautifully at Christmas. We love New Boston Bakery! The pastries are phenomenal, the sandwiches are bomb (we love the Pearce). The shop itself is so cute, perfect place to grab a coffee with a friend. They have a sun room to the right when you walk in that is a beautiful place to snack, rain or shine! In my top 3 food places for Fall River. The only downside is that it's not open on the weekends:( my boyfriend is working when they open, so he isn't able to go in the mornings for food, but even so this place gets 5 stars because it's that good. read more

The sandwiches and cookies (especially the thumbprint and pecan cookies) are pretty good and the cream puffs (profiteroles, if you want to sound fancy) are a good bargain.
