Yay to Yelp for leading us to this wonderful bakery! We were on a trip to Fall River to stock up on our Portuguese food and other goodies and we had some extra time so I hit Yelp to see if we could find a new place to try. When I searched bakeries Continent Bakery came up with 5 stars and over 35 reviews so I knew it was worth checking out!!! We put it in our gps and were there shortly. We honestly wouldn't have never passed by this place otherwise. There was a small line on this early Saturday afternoon as they are spacing out customers due to Covid-19. We waited our turn and were inside shortly. I immediately felt overwhelmed by the selections! Great variety of desserts and breads!!!! We selected a variety of desserts and ordered some of the chourico breads because we saw they had been highly recommended on Yelp. I'm so thankful I took a picture of the breads behind the counter because I had no idea there were so many flavors to pick from (definitely going back for more flavors to try!!). Everything we bought was delicious, but the thing that will definitely be bringing us back is the chourico rolls!! The rolls were FILLED with chourico and the bread they were in was amazing! They take too long to wait on folks when there's a line. Too busy socializing with customers, they are currently waiting on. Just slow in general, they could pick up the pace......... There's a time and place for everything. They are a bakery, not a social club!!! It devalues the waiting clients. Waiting in line 40/45 minutes only to find out they ran out of the items you came for. There is nothing like an 86 board in place to let customers know. Wasting your valuable time. They want you to wait, so when you do find out, they are hoping you order something else. Clever tactics that don't work for me! When you voice your opinion, you are met with an invalid excuse topped off with arrogance."Well, we've been in business for 78 years. we are obviously doing something right. " Another devaluation of the customer. No appreciation for the business you're giving them. They could use a lesson in humility. I've always looked at customer complaints as constructive criticism, a chance for improvement, and insight. How the customer perceives their experience. They forget that without the "customer," there's no need for them. I'd rather forgo the product and be respected and appreciated. Sooooo...this is such a gem I cannot believe the amazingness that was in this bakery. I will be back so many times. My husband and I came bright & early to pick up some desserts. The cases were fully stocked and I was in shock at how yummy everything looked. It took a while to decide what to get but the gentleman behind the counter was so patient and answered all of our questions (we take dessert seriously). My favorite treat has to be the raspberry Bismarck...but the chocolate frosted brownies are incredible...and so are the cream-filled donuts (so soft and fluffy)...oh, and another favorite has to be the eclairs. Alright, alright. EVERYTHING is good. I cannot wait to try it all. The cream is so fresh in all of their desserts. So glad I found this place, cannot believe it took so long. If you have never been to Continent Bakery before and you like sweets, you need to stop whatever it is you're doing right now and get to Swansea ASAP. The lines can be long, the parking can get tight but it's all worth it. I have been a patron of Continent Bakery since I was a teeny, tiny little person. Family events could not happen without my grandmother arriving with boxes of their little pastries and donuts for everyone to gobble down. Nowadays, I try to be good and watch what I eat, but my husband and I always eat something sweet in the mornings on weekends and we end up at Continent time and again to grab donuts. I am a sucker for the lemon filled and jelly donuts, while my husband loves their Boston cream. I have never eaten a desert from Continent I thought tasted bad- literally everything is good. To switch things up once in a while we'll grab a dozen of the tiny pastries and they're incredible as well. The raspberry/cream pastries and the tiny brownies are my favorite. The non-sweet food is terrific as well. The loafs of bread at Continent are always fresh and tasty, and their Portuguese sweet bread is out of this world. After seeing the reviews on Yelp, we knew we needed to try Continent Bakery. It did not disappoint - the donuts here are the best I have ever had. We shoveled two of their delicious malasadas and three of their donuts into our mouths in record time and everything was suddenly right with the world. The cream-filled donut was the standout for me - it was truly amazing. The freshness of the ingredients is apparent and makes a big difference in terms of flavor. Absolutely no bakery I have ever been to is so amazing and awesome. Period. So you walk in and it doesn't smell over powerfully of bakery food, which I kinda of like, but there is food surrounding you on all sides, so that's a plus. Additionally, the price is really low. I was told that they were almost ready. I picked out some cookies and then a women from the back came out and said it would be an hour. Hidden Jewel. In the heart of OCEAN GROVE. The family and I went here a few weeks ago. I have not been in years. The new owners have raised the bar. Great, Great selection of pastries and food. They have a huge selection . I was surprised at the amount of Portuguese food they had, Kale soups, chorizo, & Cacoila sandwiches. All prices inexpensive. Bought 4 pastries and a sandwich for under 4 dollars. We also ordered a birthday cake. When we picked it up, it was huge and delicious, and cost under $25. By far my favorite thing from this bakery is their chicken pies. Living in swansea for 30 yrs I'm ashamed to say the first time I had one was last year. I always purchased the meat pies. Don't get me wrong they're amazing just like pretty much everything the bakery sells, but trust me and get yourself a chicken pie when available.
