As part of RI Food Fight's Best Iced Coffee Challenge, my friends and I stopped by Duke's Bakery for breakfast and iced coffee on one of the hottest days of the year and it was the highlight of our morning. Walking into Duke's as someone who eats gluten free felt like being a kid in a toy store on Christmas morning. So many incredible options! Even better, there were plenty of soy-free choices for me and dairy-free options for my friend Taylor. Finding a bakery that makes dietary restrictions feel exciting instead of limiting is such a gift. The iced coffee hit the spot, and our Belgian waffle and breakfast sandwich were absolutely delicious. Before leaving, I couldn't resist taking home two of their take-and-bake calzones (and they did not disappoint!) They're huge, packed with flavor and perfect to have on hand. It was also such a pleasure chatting with the owner, who was incredibly welcoming and clearly passionate about what they're creating. I stopped into Duke's today with Meg M and Emily C as part of RI Food Fights Best Iced Coffee. Holy allergen friendly heaven! Whatever kind of allergy you have, they have you covered! & every single item here is gluten free! For coffee, I had an iced coffee with banana syrup and almond milk. For breakfast I did a breakfast sandwich. I had a fried egg on a dairy free roll with dairy free Gouda and vegan sausage. It's so good! My friends had a breakfast wrap that came with injectable cheese and they had a waffle taco type thing that was a riff on tiramisu. I tried the waffle where there was no topping and it was great! You would never know it was gluten free! As someone who is very lactose intolerant, I obviously left with pastries. I can't wait to come back and try more things!! If you have an allergy and don't want to skimp on flavor and still want to indulge in something decadent, come here! They have a really big parking lot and share with Barrett's. As a school nurse, I recently needed an egg-free pastry option for a student with allergies. I called Duke's Bakery and spoke with (I believe her name was Michele), and she was incredibly kind and helpful. She took the time to explain everything clearly and reassured me about the allergen safety measures in place, which meant so much. I placed the order through DoorDash, and it arrived quickly. Most importantly, my student absolutely loved it -- and there were no issues at all. I truly appreciate the care and attention they showed. An entire gluten-free bakery plus they have a ton of dairy-free goodies as well. I've been here many times, and I can't believe I've never left a review. I recently got a chocolate chip muffin and donut. The muffin was huge, but very delicious. The donut is small, but honestly it's the perfect size as it's pretty filling and was very yummy. The service here is always friendly! I asked about dairy free items and was shown the case of goodies, as well as offered some suggestions. We stopped into Duke's Bakery a couple weeks ago. The location is gorgeous, as you can sit on the patio and look at the river. We ordered chicken and waffles, tater tots, and Mac n cheese. Everything was delicious and gluten free! It's so nice to be able to get so many different options at gluten free bakeries. We also tried a brownie. So excited to go back to Dukes! Anytime you get amazing gluten free food, you gotta be hyped. Well, we were passing through Falls River and this time we used the online ordering system.... Don't. Just don't ever do that... The system told us when we were 30min away it would take 40 minutes for the food to be ready. It took 7. The chicken tenders had a $4 upcharge, the brownies had a $1 upcharge and the cold brew had a $1 all due to them using Door Dash as their online ordering system. As for the food, it was excellent but the Cold Brew is supposed to come with coffee ice cubes and while it did, it was supplemented with regular ice (not something I expected or as advertised). read more

I visited Duke's Bakery in Fall River for the first time and was really disappointed with the experience. When I walked in, I wasn't greeted, even though there was only one other customer there. I ordered a small coffee, two muffins, and a steak and cheese sub, which came out to around $40. The staff member who helped me was rude and dismissive, even after I mentioned it was my first time visiting. When I opened my food, the sandwich was messy and falling apart in the container, which made it hard to even eat. For the price and reputation, I expected a much better experience. I always try to support local businesses, but unfortunately, this visit left a bad impression and I don't plan to return. read more

Very nice looking space. I decided to eat in after a tennis match at bicentennial Park. I got an egg and cheese sandwich on a gluten-free roll, and a kombucha that they make in house. The kombucha is raw. When I asked the woman at the counter if it was raw, she didn't really understand the question and had to get the owner. I honestly can't say enough about this amazing GLUTEN-FREE restaurant! I've been introducing my family, friends and my Meet-up group women to it, and they're all thanking me. First of all the food is so delicious, and always homemade....and there are so many choices, including paleo, dairy-free, etc. Second the staff is so accomodating, led by owner Chris and her son Dennis, and they'll go out of their way to create a wonderful experience for you. There is no way to describe how absolutely perfect the desserts were. I highly, HIGHLY recommend the lemon bar. We got a couple coffees and this service lady was so nice and told us they have "every milk but yak and elephant". Such a nice barista/ baker. When you walk in, you get a rich scent of sweet, succulent desserts. You look at them and you are like "i could eat all of this, it is so yummy". My partner and I decided to try this restaurant because it looked good and we were in the area. As we walked in everything seemed normal. We were seated and that's when everything went down hill. Our server, an older women with short grey hair, never greeted us just asked if we knew what we wanted to drink to which we were still deciding and she said okay and walked away annoyed. She did this every time she came over to us to ask what we wanted. We ended up rushing and ordering because we sensed this and thought maybe she was just having a bad day. Soon after a group of white individuals walked in and she greeted them with a big smile asking, and helping them with the menu and even said no problem! This is when we knew it was because of our complexion. She then brought our lattes out that were cold, didn't say anything and left again. Our food was brought out by someone else and it was also cold. Food was okay she never checked in on us to even ask how it was. Time went by and we watched as everyone around us was being tended to. This is when we decided to leave and I had to get up and ask her while she was on her phone to help us with a check and box. To which she asked if we were okay, sensing that we were frustrated. We came to Duke's because my daughter is gluten sensitive and Duke's is a gluten free bakery and restaurant. What a wonderful place! The food is so well prepared and delicious! The restaurant is very food allergy conscious and amazingly accommodating!!! There were 3 of us - one had an omelette with the freshest vegetables and crispy home fries; one had one of Duke's signature bowls prepared as she wanted it and my daughter had the chicken cutlet sandwich - all gluten free! I appreciate that they're dedicated gluten free with many options also dairy free and/or Paleo. And what a large selection for both the bakery and cafe! However, most of the things I've gotten here are just okay. Cupcakes and cake pops are fine, but nothing spectacular. Same goes for a double chocolate donut I got, which was more of cake in a donut shape (not fried, which I guess is healthier, but not as enjoyable). Blueberry Muffin and scones just okay. However, I got a pumpkin streusel muffin recently and it was delicious! For the individual prices, I was hoping it would be better. I'm not GF but my friend who got married is. I tried a few of the cupcakes and liked the chocolate best, so I got this beautiful cake for her elopement. It was actually pretty tasty. I wouldn't have guessed that it were gluten free had I not known. When I ordered it I said just simple elegant with some flowers and they gave me exactly what I had envisioned despite my lack of details! Pickup was easy. I was in Fall River on business and saw a sign for this place "Duke's Bakery". I was really looking forward to cheating on my Keto diet. Much to my amazement when entering the beautiful establishment, they offered Keto baked goods! Normally when I go to such a beautiful place, I order something very naughty. I ended up ordering a Keto Pumpkin Spice cupcake with cream cheese frosting. This was one of the tastiest desserts I have ever eaten. And it was Keto!! They also offer SO much variety. I couldn't believe the extensiveness of this menu! It was towards the end of their business day, but the owner Chris was serving us and was not only charming and a great storyteller, but made me feel like I was visiting a family member! Also, another draw for this place is their prepared meals that looked divine. She also uses Costa Rican coffee, which is my favorite in the world! I wish my town had a Duke's Bakery! I just recently got diagnosed with celiac disease and for there to be a gluten free place I can go to, is amazing. The breakfast food was okay I just didn't like how my waffles were salty. The pastries though, ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!!! These sweets are so delicious and not that expensive ethier. This place is super duper good for their coffee and sweets I love this place! What a pleasant surprise. Me and my husband live in the Fall River area for now close to five years and we wanted something a little different for breakfast date so when I found Dukes on yelp, I thought lets try-this spot out. It's a bakery, but who knows the breakfast could be great. So happy I was right I usually do not go for chicken and waffles. I don't trust that it can be done well but these gluten-free waffles and this wonderfully cooked chicken and the candied Bacon were phenomenal, the flaxseed toast that my husband had was a game changer. The cooks and bakers at Dukes have been making gluten-free dairy free items for years and you can tell that they have mastered the craft. I loved that when I left the place I did not feel bloated. It was a wonderful change of pace. The service was lovely. Our young server was so helpful on helping us choose what to pack and give us recommendations. I will be coming back with some of my girlfriends to try the rest of menu. Loved our experience. read more
