Lumière Pâtisserie is a Thornhill gem--proof that you don't have to go downtown for great pastries…read more Yes, it's tucked into a suburban plaza off a parking lot, but inside it's light-filled, calm, and smells like heaven. The service is consistently warm, and the pastry case is hard to resist. We've tried many of their cakes, and the blackcurrant queen cake is hands down our favorite--tart, elegant, and just sweet enough. Their salted caramel croissant is beautifully laminated and filled with just the right amount of caramel. In fact, their croissants across the board are solid--flaky, tender, and buttery without being greasy. The sourdough bread is excellent, and the espresso drinks are reliably strong and well-crafted. It may look like Paris inside, but don't let that inspire your inner Francophile--the staff are lovely, but no one's following your French. Still, this is the kind of place that keeps regulars coming back. We're definitely among them.

The espresso here is excellent - well-bodied in flavour, medium roast (I think?), and pairs nicely with the sweetness of the cakes & pastries. There's also a wide selection of small personal cakes to choose from - just make sure you come early since they do sell out! We shared the cream & crumb cheesecake (simple, classic, and incredibly creamy!) and tiramichoux (think a tiramisu profiterole - such a fun twist!). Looking forward to my next visit already :)

They packed the cake in a beautiful box and thankfully it was on a sturdy bottom so it didn't move during the delivery and looked so good! The cake itself was very good, a lot of strawberries with the whipping cream and cake were not too sweet so it balanced with the natural sweetness of the strawberries very well! It was also very light which was great as we had activities planned. We ordered it the day before and the cake tasted great the next day so easy to store leftovers. Would be interested in going to the store and trying more things in the future.

The online ordering process is smooth and convenient, and the final product genuinely impresses. I'm taking one point off only because it was impossible to reach someone by phone. Communication is email only, which works, but it does feel a bit arms length and takes away from the personal touch you'd expect from a boutique bakery. A quick call option would elevate the whole experience. That said, the pastries and cakes are excellent, and I'd happily order again. Enjoy-Zuk.

It was delicious! The sandwich also came with vegan sausage. My husband had the chicken parm, another sandwich you can't find. It was delicious as well! We got a variety of desserts to try. My favorite was the apple turnover. The line to order was long but that is nice to see in places like this. They have some vegan grocery items as well. This is a must stop for anyone! Traditional eaters might be able to enjoy a sweet treat without a stomachache.

The Tiramisu Cheesecake (10 out of 5!) was sublime and was amongst the best vegan cheesecake we have ever had. In fact it would be right near the top as well even compared to non vegan cheesecakes we have ever had. The Chocolate Biscotti (10 out of 5!) was again a grand slam. It's been a while since I had a biscotti since we turned vegan and this just hit the spot. With coffee - OMG! Although we got to eat half, it was very satisfying. Danish Rum Balls (10 out of 5) - my favourite ice cream flavour at one was Rum Raisin and this DRB bought memories of those days. Perfectly flavoured with rum, and the raisins were a bomb with rum flavour. Just mind blowing. Butter Pecan Tarts - (5 out of 5). Very good tarts. Not too sweet, the pie shell, very well done and baked to perfection. The Danish Pastry (3 out of 5). They are not my favourite and this didn't change my mind. Mind you nothing wrong with pastry itself. Please let this be my last desserts if I had my way!

A beautifully atmospheric afternoon tea spot in Toronto -- After Queen Tea Shop…read more This is one of those places that feels special the moment you walk in. The space is filled with vintage European charm, with delicate decor and thoughtful details everywhere you look. It has a soft, almost dreamlike quality to it. When we arrived, the room was already filled with elegantly dressed older ladies, which somehow made the experience feel even more authentic, like stepping into a quiet London afternoon. The whole atmosphere is incredibly calming. The afternoon tea set is generous and thoughtfully arranged. Each guest gets their own pot of tea, and I chose a lemon mango blend that paired beautifully with the desserts. It was light, refreshing, and balanced out the sweetness perfectly. It turned into one of those afternoons where you naturally slow down, enjoying both the food and the moment. And of course, everything photographs beautifully. A small tip--reservations are highly recommended. Even on a weekday, it fills up quickly, and it would be a shame to miss out.

This is my second time at a high tea place so I was comparing with one in Oakville. The restaurant is a small place with a few seats so making a reservation is best. This restaurant is within a small plaza within the mall itself. Beautiful decor representing English Victorian-like theme with dishes and plating presentation. I found this place to not be worth the price point in my opinion. The food was just mediocre. The egg sandwich was not good at all. There were too much green onions. The scones were not fresh and just too hard. The cucumber sandwich was not good either, it had a weird taste, I can't even describe it. I got the dulce de leche tea which tasted like water tea, I did not taste anything caramel or sweetness to it. Overall paying over $65 per person I expected a better taste than what I got. I would not come here again.
