The cutest and most lush cafe I've seen in Old San Juan. Stopped in for some iced coffee twine during my stay, the first time it was a little crowded with a line but it's way to understand why. It lives up to its botanical name with flowers and plants hanging from the ceiling and covering the walls. It is counter service and there are a few tables lining the perimeter along with some souvenir-ish items for sale. I got the iced Spanish coffee with condensed milk and cinnamon and it was delicious! Because I also had oat milk it tasted like an oatmeal cookie. They had also pastries and little cakes but I didn't partake. Café Botánico is one of the cutest cafés I visited in Puerto Rico! It's a small, charming space with beautiful décor, lush greenery, and flowers hanging from the ceiling that create a cozy, botanical atmosphere. There's also a small jewelry display inside that adds to the boutique feel. Friendly staff. The café is incredibly photogenic--not just inside, but outside as well. The colorful streets, floral murals, and charming walkways surrounding the café make it a perfect spot for taking pictures. Honestly, some of my favorite photos came from just walking around the neighborhood. Unfortunately, the drinks didn't quite live up to the aesthetic. The coffee was pretty bland and tasted watered down. I also ordered a matcha, and it definitely wasn't what I expected. The color alone didn't resemble a traditional matcha, and the flavor was lacking. Overall, I'd come back for the ambiance, décor, and photo opportunities, but I hope the drinks improve because the café itself has so much potential. read more

A super cute cafe with perfect vibes! During a casual day of wandering the streets of San Juan, I stumbled upon Cafe Botanico and stopped in for a drink. As a certified houseplant fanatic, the live plants everywhere instantly caught my eye. I ordered an iced lavender latte and it certainly delivered! The ambiance was so cute from the outside and inside. I loved the plants and paintings, the Photo Booth and jewelry for sale, so darn cute in here. The service was friendly and accommodating. They have a clean bathroom and aren't too spacious but a couple tables to wait for your coffee. I didn't get food but the food they had and sweet treats, looked so authentic and very moist. The only downfall was the coffee just being okay, and still being $10 each. What a rip off. You pay for the aesthetics here, so if you're into that, come on by. read more

This place is so good and the shop is so cute. All of the employees were really nice and welcoming! When one of my family members had questions regarding drinks they explained the process and showed them a photo of what the end result of the drink would look like. I ordered the iced red velvet coffee and it was sooo good. The bottom has a chunk/crumbles of red velvet cake that surprisingly doesn't make the coffee overly sweet. It's then topped with merengue and red velvet crumbs. Definitely recommend this spot if you're in the area!! read more

You MUST visit cafe botanico. I had breakfast here with my friends while on vacation and almost shed literal tears at how absolutely delicious and fresh EVERYTHING is. Why tears then? Because going back home and knowing cafe botanico is so far away from me is actually painful. Huge surprise, I had the best matcha I've ever purchased from here and I make matcha at home daily--didn't expect to even find matcha in PR on vacation. Best coffee I had in old San Juan. Big bonus--everyone who works here is so so so so nice. Very cute and nice ambiance. Not a ton of seating but there is a larger picnic style table for big groups. Tip--the online menu isn't up to date. I think that's because everything is made fresh daily and they have a different menu constantly. Don't waste your time checking the menu, just go. read more

Stopped in for a quick coffee but ending up sitting down to try some of their house made pasta which I thought was light but flavorful - just what I was looking for in the hot climate. What a great place! We needed a light lunch and something cold. This didn't disappoint. We each had a cold brew. It's somehow sweet and very smooth. We each had a bowl as well. One with the mash of the day (mashed potatoes with pumpkin), ground beef, and a sweet been mixture. The other had pasta, ground beef, and a sweet tomato salad with strawberries! Food and coffee were good. However, beware, they do not honor their hours of operation. I came here at 10 am, their opening time, and they did not open until 10:30. This was our last day in Puerto Rico and had to Uber to airport by 11. We chose this place because it opened at 10 am and we'd have enough time but their careless decision to open late messed up our day. The staff is also incredibly rude. I knocked on their door at 10:15, well after their opening time, and asked what time they'd open their door. He rudely said "when we're ready". La comida y el café estaban bien. Came here for a cold drink to refresh from all of the walking in old San Juan. The cafe is so beautiful and sitting in here was relaxing. I ordered a matcha latte with oat milk and enjoyed it very much. It had a slight hint of (cinnamon?) or something that tasted different from the matcha lattes I've had before.
