I was very excited about Cafe Chew, and stayed excited up until the food arrived. The food was extremely underwhelming to say the least, but I'll get to that later. Cafe Chew was tucked away on another section near the Stop and Shop shopping center, adjacent to other little cute gift shops. The decor and vibe was cute and cozy, and upon our arrival, we were explained how ordering the food and getting a table worked. We first opted for a seat by the window bar indoors, but later the waitress informed us that a table outside had opened up so we took that one instead. You stay in the line to order while the waitress puts a "Reserved, ordering in line" sign on your table. My boyfriend and I ordered the Italian sandwich (because you must have a sandwich in Sandwich, MA right?), a 3 egg omelette with Gruyere cheese (included in the $8.95 price), caramelized onions, broccoli, mushroom ($0.75 each), and chicken-apple sausage ($1.75), with a side of home fries, and 2 iced coffees. The food took a while to come out, which was a bit understandable because it was very busy. When it did come out, the Italian sandwich was all alone on a long plate with lots of empty space. The marinara sauce was splattered messily under the sandwich, and my boyfriend comments, "this sandwich was not made with love." The omelette also looked very small for having 3 eggs, and the mushrooms and broccoli inside the omelette were not cut to bite-size portions (there were 3-inches long pieces of broccoli in it!) The home fries were not crisp at all, and had a soggy feel. We should have stayed at our hotel and ate the free breakfast there instead. read more

This place is packed to the brim when it's open, and for good reason! Although the line can get extremely long, the staff are very friendly and address everyone in line promptly. Stopped here on our drive back home on a holiday weekend and boy was it a treat! INSANELY responsive to COVID regulations (clear one-way foot traffic markings, 6-foot spacers throughout, all staff wearing masks and gloves, and an employee working as a bathroom attendant since it was such a high traffic day) and even better food! So good!! My family and boyfriend decided to have breakfast at this cafe in Sandwich while we were camping at Shawme-Crowell State Forest close by, and we were so pleased! We walked in and were greeted by a friendly man, presumably the owner, letting us know how the restaurant worked, which was to order your food and they bring the food to you. My mom and I ordered delicious & organic steel cut oats with strawberries, walnuts and raisins! My boyfriend ordered French Toast and my brother ordered pancakes. Everything was beyond fantastic. Quick. Delicious. Wonderful, friendly staff. We were on the Cape for a company party and got in a bit early and feeling quite hungry in the meantime. Even in the cold of winter and their off season, this place was packed and we were treated like family. The portions are quite large and the food is fresh. I can't resist a thanksgiving sandwich, but these can often by an excuse for laziness - a bunch of salty stuffing and a plop of cranberry sauce. Not so here! A homemade cranberry walnut bread that was barely sweet, a cranberry mayo (aioli if you fancy), a nice crisp lettuce leaf, juicy turkey, and a substantial portion of stuffing that wasn't too fussy. No offense to the highbrow stuffing crowd, but I like the boxed stuff best. No idea what this was but it definitely wasn't as salty as the box as far as I could tell, so it was just right. A side of Cape Cod chips (the best) and a fun soda - Izze for me and some weird but tasty botanical soda from the UK for my husband - and it was a great meal for around $10 a person. Not exactly cheap eats, but this was no Big Mac. Looking around at peoples soup and salad combos and salad plates, EVERYTHING looked to be both substantial portions and fresh. I feel like I could have eaten anything on the tables around me and have been completely happy with my choice. Everything looked delicious. The atmosphere is cozy coastal. The food and service are great. Probably some more ritzy places you could eat on the Cape, and this didn't have much in the way of seafood on the menu, but thAt didn't matter. How wow was this joint bustling on a Monday afternoon. On our sad goodbye leaving the Cape, my sister and I returned about 80 beers cans and took the cash to get some food here for the ride home. They have tons of outdoor tables w umbrellas so its a cute atmosphere. I seriously could not believe how crowded it was for a Monday and it took about 15 mins to get our food--not bad at all. I think I ordered the Dutchman panini? It was chicken w bacon and tomato bruchetta, my sister had some onion chicken cheese thing. Comes w pickle and bag of chips for 9$, I guess pretty average and for a fresh sandwich with reallyyyy fresh and organic type fillings, worth it. The Cafe Chew was one of the best sandwich shops I've been to in a long time. They have gluten free bread to toast, but it is not celiac friends. When you walk in, grab a table before you order. This was stated by the poor teenager at the door at least 5 times while I was in line. The line moves quickly and the service is fast to the table. My salad was huge definitely big enough to share. My friend wasn't truly happy with his sandwich, not a lot of salmon and he suspected it was farm raised but he said it was mewh ok. But this is not his review. The others around me were commenting on the quality and quantity so my friend was the anomaly. One of my favorite cafes on Cape, by far! As a local, I was embarrassed I didn't know about this place sooner but it was introduced to me by my best friend. Since then, I am trying go back every few weeks. It's the perfect low key spot to grab some delicious food and catch up with an old friend! Some of my absolute favorite items are the Power Plant sandwich, the ambrosia tea and the Italian breakfast sandwich. I have had their fresh fruit and their coffee (usually latte with almond or soy milk) and I cannot say a bad word about anything. The people that work there are helpful, kind and polite and it's always nice to feel appreciated and not rushed despite there often times a long line to order. I also really love that their eggs come cage-free. Their quality of food is always high. (I'm drooling right now thinking of all the menu items) Inside is always a little crowded, as to be expected when you have such a wide array of delicious food, but sitting outside is my favorite. Location is amazing too. I love being a short drive away from the canal. I can enjoy a delicious brunch and go down for a relaxing wake afterwards. Super cool place that pumps out food made with love that you can see. The employees are visible so you can see them making your stuff, I like transparency. The wait times for the food is very short, they aren't messing around in that kitchen. The space seems very up kept, I saw the surfaces being wiped down. Everything is fresh, I hear the salads are huge when they serve them on the plates when you dine in, although this is no longer happening they still are a decent size. I had the tuna sandwich that came with chips, heart eyes emoji. I really dug everything about Sandwich's best sandwichery. The bathroom was clean and well lit the art work made me happy because I really like cows, the entire place was running like a well oiled machine. I actually came here twice in the 3 weeks I was on the cape this summer and this happens to be the go to lunch spot for my sister in law. We came with a party of 5 so you have to secure your seating as it is first come first serve. We had a nice time watching the little birds hop around the outside seating area looking for crumbs.
