One of my favorite cafes on Cape, by far! As a local, I was embarrassed I didn't know about this place sooner but it was introduced to me by my best friend. Since then, I am trying go back every few weeks. It's the perfect low key spot to grab some delicious food and catch up with an old friend! Some of my absolute favorite items are the Power Plant sandwich, the ambrosia tea and the Italian breakfast sandwich. I have had their fresh fruit and their coffee (usually latte with almond or soy milk) and I cannot say a bad word about anything. The people that work there are helpful, kind and polite and it's always nice to feel appreciated and not rushed despite there often times a long line to order. I also really love that their eggs come cage-free. Their quality of food is always high. (I'm drooling right now thinking of all the menu items) Inside is always a little crowded, as to be expected when you have such a wide array of delicious food, but sitting outside is my favorite. Location is amazing too. I love being a short drive away from the canal. I can enjoy a delicious brunch and go down for a relaxing wake afterwards. Super cool place that pumps out food made with love that you can see. The employees are visible so you can see them making your stuff, I like transparency. The wait times for the food is very short, they aren't messing around in that kitchen. The space seems very up kept, I saw the surfaces being wiped down. Everything is fresh, I hear the salads are huge when they serve them on the plates when you dine in, although this is no longer happening they still are a decent size. I had the tuna sandwich that came with chips, heart eyes emoji. I really dug everything about Sandwich's best sandwichery. The bathroom was clean and well lit the art work made me happy because I really like cows, the entire place was running like a well oiled machine. I actually came here twice in the 3 weeks I was on the cape this summer and this happens to be the go to lunch spot for my sister in law. We came with a party of 5 so you have to secure your seating as it is first come first serve. We had a nice time watching the little birds hop around the outside seating area looking for crumbs. Parking is ample, the menu is concise, the food is delish, what's there not to love about this place!? read more

I've never had a bad meal from here (however, the lack of vegetarian options is kind of a bummer)- but the service is atrocious. I work at a business in town, and am often ordering lunches to-go from various restaurants around town. Cafe Chew is typically my preferred- the hummus & tabbouleh salad is so good! But ordering from there is the actual nightmare of my life. Today was the second occasion where I spent FORTY FIVE MINUTES calling the shop repeatedly, only to get their answering message. When I FINALLY got through, they said the order would be ready in five minutes (shocking as they apparently were too busy to answer the phone), and upon entering the business to pickup there was an abundance of empty tables and very little commotion. Calling that restaurant is more difficult than getting in touch with the White House. Working in local business management, I understand that sometimes it gets crazy busy and sometimes we're understaffed. It happens. But this issue is CONSTANT and there seems to be no resolution in sight. Create an online ordering space, a second phone line, a designated employee to take phone orders or loose a lot of local business and cater directly to the tourists. I'm sure that keeps the lights on year-round. read more

I have no idea why this place is so poppin! The sandwiches are mediocre but not terrible. The wait line to order was about 15 minutes. Lines out the door! The place was jam packed. They have seating all over and around the shop. Front door seating, back door seating and indoor seating. The decoration of this place is very cool, cute and rustic looking. There is a cute little garden by the backdoor seatings. Tho it was a bit windy that day my napkins and bag of chips was flying all over the place when we sat outside. The service took a while, about a 20 minute wait for a sandwich. They have fountain drinks and bottled drinks. A good selection of sweets and cookies. Prices were somewhat reasonable. The staff were friendly and helpful. I would come back and try something else only of the line wasn't so long. read more

Cafe chew is a cozy cafe with lots of locals as well as tourists who come to the area/sandwich town. They have lots of yummy selections for lunch. We had the scandanavian salmon sandwich, it was so good, not heavy and perfect to be shared between 2 who don't want a large meal. Though their salads looked huge.. way too big for one or two. lol. the soups looked great, cups were small and a perfect size. It does get hot in there as there is no AC, but not too bad.. there's patio seating with large umbrelas too. also cute little shops nearby. my fav is the summer cottage! I went back there twice to get souveniors. :) One complaint is the chew has horrible coffee.. i couldn't stand it, tasted ilke sink water. both times! but their other beverages like lemonade are delicious and free to be refilled! read more

Came here while visiting the area for a wedding. Like I typically do, I refer to yelp for good local restaurants, and seeing how this topped the charts, it was my first breakfast destination. I have to say I was disappointed. The experience, as a whole was good (being from NY it's always refreshing when everyone is so nice out of state.. You don't get that at home) staff was super super friendly and helpful, even cooked us up a sandwich when it was breakfast time without issue. The decor is homely, chalkboards, local maps and portraits, a nice blend of a coffee house and a for the locals small food joint (read: hipster - but I don't think that was the intention nor is it bad) it was loud, busy, casual and pretty awesome. Really dug the vibe. You order at a counter, deli style and then the food is hand delivered to you. Food runners call your name and will drop it off with silverware and napkins etc there is a ton of outdoor and indoor seating with gentle reminders (signs) that it gets busy and to not hog tables and to be open to sharing if you're a party of two sitting at a table for four etc. Emphasis again, the vibe was great. The food and coffee however, not so much. We ordered French toast, eggs, California BLT (served on a crossaint with avocado with herb mayo being the additional toppings) with chicken apple sausage and a side of eggs to throw on the BLT. One French roast coffee and a caramel macchiato. Eggs are eggs. Cooked well, no complaints. (although a bit pricey at $1.95 each for an extra) The California BLT was quite good, but mostly because we added some over easy eggs to it, making it an epic breakfast sandwich. I'll give this self modified concoction two thumbs up. The French toast I'm going to echo what another reviewer wrote - tasted like it sat in egg way too long. Very bland and soggy despite being cooked quite well. Sausage was absolutely fantastic. The caramel macchiato tasted like espresso and milk, bland and had to add sugar ourselves to get something out of it. My coffee was good, but I don't typically drink coffee so count me clueless as to if that feeling would translate to someone who drinks it regularly. Bill was $30 which is certainly reasonable, and while we did have a good time and everyone was quite nice, the food certainly won't be something I look back on and remember from my Cape Cod wedding adventures. read more

Best place on the cape for casual breakfast (and COFFEE) or lunch. My wife and I were visiting the cape for a week and found this place by chance. We came back multiple times! If you get anything here get something they bake themselves. The breads are so flavorful and have great texture. We didn't try all of the cookies but they were some of the best I've had and I'm not a cookie person. We picked up a lot to bring home to share with family back in New York. Being across the street from my work, I frequented this lunch spot despite my initial poor experience (see previous review of the Asian salad). Thank goodness I did, because I became addicted!! And the service was so quick it became a staple in my weekly routine. You can call in your order and pick up in about 10 minutes, they are one quick bunch in there. First off I loved their coffee - they make everything from hot and iced coffee to espresso and lattes, and my personal favorite the dirty chai latte (hot or iced). It's much fresher and less watered-down than Marylou's so I was SO happy to have found it. Next, all of their salads are huge and filling, and the Greek salad is one of the best I've ever had. I added chicken and the salad is otherwise loaded with the good stuff - tons of chopped tomatoes (I love how tiny they were minced!), red onion, and lots and lots of delicious feta cheese. Sometimes I'd even use tortilla chips to scoop up what was leftover after I ate all the chicken and lettuce. So filling, so delicious, and you will not leave here hungry. All the paninis and sandwiches I tried were wonderful as well, so I'm glad I didn't let my one sad salad get in the way of my love affair with cafe chew. Not sure when I'll be back on the cape, but if I'm in sandwich for lunch I will definitely be heading here! read more

The issue is it is run like a high school cafeteria with signs and rules all over the place! I was told upon entering had walked past the "stop" sign to wait my turn‍ I guess I missed that sign because I was busy reading the sign by the door with information I have already forgotten ! Cute lunch spot with very friendly staff. The hostess was super sweet and explained how their "restaurant" works. They hold a table for you, and deliver the food to you, but you have to order and pay at the counter. We could decide so we decided to split a salad and 2 sandwiches. We ordered a chicken salad sandwich, Rueben and a Greek salad. The salad was huge, fresh and delicious. The chicken salad had large chunks of chicken and was not overloaded with mayo. Just the way i like it. The Ruben came with a three napkin warning and you definitely needed all three of them. Hubby said it as good as you get at Bens Manhattan. They say never judge a book by its cover and Cafe Chew is the perfect example of this. The owners of this little restaurant must be geniuses, because they have taken a little spot in a shopping plaza and turned it into a quaint cafe with a very local vibe. They have outdoor seating out front and out back. The garden gives the spot a very Cape Cod feel. The baked goods and coffee are delicious and I'm yet to have a sandwich here that I don't like. My favorite is the Cubano! You MUST try the ambrosia iced tea. It is the best iced tea I've ever had and they'll refill it for free! I always drink one and then take a refill home with me. It's great to stop at the chew for lunch, and then take a walk on the boardwalk and hit the Ice Cream Sandwich across the street. :) read more

My favorite place for a great breakfast or lunch. They are doing amazing work with restrictions right now and they do it with a smile. What have I had? Breakfast sandwich, (The Cody Chew), for lunch my favorites are The Pilgrim, The Alsatian, The Caper, but my extra favorite is the Vietnamese Banh Mi (though I have to share with my one year old. She loves it too.) Don't forget their cookies. My favorite is the Mexican Wedding cookie, but they are all good, and huge! This adorable eatery has more in here to offer its guests than you would expect. The staff is super friendly as they welcome you at the door. They have an incredible bakery section, and two full pages of menu items to choose from that are packed with breakfast and lunch ideas. They're open till three, and there are a lot of local people coming in and they know their clientele. The herb home fries are so tasty! The Italian ciabatta sandwich was so good! We also ordered the French Toast and that was so light. The yogurt parfait was Made to order so the granola was still crunchy and the fruit layered perfectly. Probably my new brunch/lunch favorite while en route to Cape Cod! Great variety of sandwiches with a mini bakery inside the restaurant as well. For lunch, I'd recommended the Midwestern sandwich! Perhaps the combination of sweet/savory meatloaf and salty bacon made it stood out among others. The mushroom soup was fantastic too, a perfect accompaniment for the tasty sandwich. I concur with the reviews that Cafe Chew has a great, pleasant, friendly vibe to it. It's small for seating, but makes up for it with a personable feeling of a place you will quickly call "your spot"! My son Connor and I went in on Sunday 27 April for breakfast. Truth be told, we were intending to go to Marshlands, but it was way too crowded so we chose Cafe Chew. I'm glad serendipity took us there because it was a great experience. The manager (Tobin I believe) was very friendly and accommodated my son's special request for a "Cody Chew" sandwich except substituting French Toast for the ciabatta bread. Tobin not only said "we can do that" but added that if it's good he would name the special sandwich "The Connor Chew". Well, that sandwich was the delight of the morning for my son, who devoured it with sounds of breakfast bliss. It sounded so good I had to steal a bite for myself before it was all gone. As a 41-yo man, I'm here to tell you that I too enjoyed the "Connor Chew" almost as much as he did! Though my regular "Cody Chew" on ciabatta was no slouch, the perfectly made, fluffy brioche French toast was a perfect compliment to the eggs, cheese, and awesome applewood smoked bacon...DELICIOUS! We are definitely changing our mornings from overcrowded Marshlands to Cafe Chew from now on. We can't wait to come back for another "Connor Chew" and coffee! read more

Stopped by at around 2:30 for a late lunch. We were greeted at the door and asked of we would be dining in or taking out. We opted to dine in and she gave us our choice of indoor or outdoor seating. We chose outdoor and she offered to put a reserved tent on our table while we waited in line to order. I thought that was a nice touch. I ordered The European without goat cheese and an iced tea (cant remember the name.) She said it was a fruity tea sweetened with lemonade, which I was worried might be too sweet, but she gave me a sample and it was perfect. The sandwich came with a dill pickle and Cape Cod chips. Everything was delicious! I really liked how the olive tapenade tasted with the salami and ham. The roasted red peppers helped so that the sandwich wasnt too dry. They closed at 3pm and I was still outside along with another 3 tables of diners. An employee came out several times leading up to 3pm to let us know that they would be closing at 3. She offered to get us any baked goods or beverages before they closed the restaurant, and took any plates/silverware so the dish boys could wrap up their shift. After coming out a couple times she announced that the patio had closed 20 minutes ago and sarcastically mentioned she could leave the key for us to lock up the patio if we wanted to stay. This was the first time that she had mentioned anything about the patio closing. Looking back I guess this should have been obvious, but being we were just sitting at tables outside the restaurant and there wasnt any gate enclosing the area I didnt realize any "closing procedures" had to be done, or I would have simply left the first time she made a last call for food/drinks. The other diners looked surprised as well and we all got up to leave. Other than the lack of setting expectations about closing, it was a good experience. I would come back. I also want to check this place out to brunch, because I saw multiple signs in the restaurant about their acclaimed brunch. read more

A little gem across from the post office in a small shopping area. Both breakfast and lunch are excellent, the lox and cream cheese plate very good. I also am fond of the French toast. The only drawback, it is usually very very crowded and the seating protocol a bit unusual. The specials menu does not seem to change all that often but the ones I have tried are excellent. Good coffee, the waitstaff which do not take your order( you order at the counter) are very efficient. The muffins are great. A great atmosphere although some people will dislike the seating.
