As soon as I entered Cafe Colette, I knew I was going to like this place. It started with the smile of the hostess, and was followed by the surrounding ambience that possessed a warm and cinematic feeling. This was due to a combination of artistic lighting and a retro decor that brought me back in time. More importantly, however, was the quality of the food. For an appetizer, I highly recommend the pate. It was creamy, and rich with flavor. With it came adorable little gherkins and two kinds of mustards, one creamy and the other seedy. Next, I had the grilled Berkshire pork with roasted figs, kale and a side of cornbread. I've never had pork cooked in this style, with a slightly crunchy exterior that encapsulates a tender and juicy piece of high quality meat. For a few weeks I was toying with the idea of becoming a vegetarian, but this meal has already changed my mind. The service was great, but the desert was mediocre. It was a bland chocolate pudding that could have been any flavor. But everything else was perfect, so I'll be coming back soon for the pan roasted trout. read more

I feel differently about Cafe Colette depending on the time of day you want to eat there. If you're looking for brunch, I think Colette is one of the best brunch spots in Williamsburg--5 star breakfast sandwich (and for only $8!), delicious cappuccions, and great brunch cocktails. Win-win-win. Dinner, however, is over-priced and mediocre--2.5 stars. When Colette first opened, they had a temporary chef that had lower prices and higher quality food--not sure what happened with the new, "better" chef (yes, I've asked before, and they actually told me that the new chef was a "better" chef), but the food is worse, and the prices are higher. read more

This is a place I have known for while but never visited. Always pretty out lightings at night. We came here for a light dinner and drink as a group of three people on Tuesday night. Did not make any reservation. The inside was crowded at the moment but there was only one couple at their outside tables so we gently asked for the outside seating. We shared two appetizers (Chicken Pate with baguette and Mussels) and one salad with delicious tomatoes and cheese. For drink, I had a Blood Orange Pale Ale and my friends had Brooklyn Summer and later IPA. Everything was delicious and drink was my favorite as we'll with slight bitterness. The amount was more than enough for sharing with three adults. The servers are between caring and distracting, I saw they were being nice and trying take care of tables but several times they came and tried to clean up the dishes while they were still more than half left. The interior is gorgeous as well but I will highly recommend to seat outside. This is a place I should come back very soon, maybe for daytime. It is my five star place for location, service, and menu, only if they did not try to clean the table repeatedly. read more

Beautiful place. I love it. 50's ambiance and music, diner-like decor with a quiet surrounding. Usually not a lot of people here. The only thing I don't like it's that they don't have decaf at all, so I guess this is not the place for me when I want a "coffee" in the evening. Also, they don't have sweeteners. read more

Any cafe that has good croissants, deliciously alcoholic and well crafted, creative drinks, AND a bomb kale caesar salad has my high score. Yes--it's a bit pretentious, but it is French and Asian fusion inspired (which would be consistent with the attitude would it not?). It's full of attractive hipster waiters and waitresses, a warm higher end diner vibe, comfy seats, corner windows, and yummy food--brunch, lunch, and dinner. The Asian noodles are to die for as well. It's not hard to be a vegetarian here--which generally, with French cuisine, it's a bit tough. For the burgeoning Berry street/North Williamsburg (off of Bedford avenue) scene--this is a new gem. read more

Date night Saturday night - the husband picked Cafe Colette. Every employee was a glow that night. Maybe it was the weather, or maybe they just really are that friendly....in either case, they did a wonderful job making us feel comfortable enough to linger and order 2 bottles of wine with dinner and desert. We had no where to be - so why not stay and spend $$$. Screw our original plans for bowling, it was amazing in there. We waited 20 minutes at the bar for a table and were entertained by the cheeriest bartendress in Williamsburg. The atmosphere was dim and textured - very lovely. The food had some highs and some mids but no lows. I very much enjoyed the grilled flatbread, trout, and cobbler. The chicken was good, but a little ordinary. We will definitely be coming back for a second date. read more

Such a special lovely spot in Williamsburg (on a quiet corner but still close to the action). I love going there on an early Sunday evening for one of their cocktails (mixology heaven!) and the octopus plus fries (probably the best fries in all of NYC). Perfect for an afternoon lunch! My boyfriend and I were wandering around looking for a quick place to grab some food. We came across Colette's and man were we pleasantly surprised! Grilled cheese and tomato soup - off the hook Fried Chicken Sandwich - damn good Portions are a little on the smaller side, but I would rather not leave lunch feeling like I need to take a nap. And the service was great. They aren't going to hold your hand, but they are nice, quick to refill waters, and are there when you need them. Couldn't be happier. :) read more

Second time here and we waited so we could eat outside on the tiny porch looking out at the street. It's just like Paris with chairs facing out. The house Chardonnay was French and super cold. Excellent. I had the toasted egg sandwich with bacon and it might be the best egg sandwich in Brooklyn. Our waitress was friendly and fast. Can't wait to go back and explore the menu. read more

New favorite brunch spot in Williamsburg. Came here around 11am on a Saturday and already the staff was running around taking orders, seating people and serving drinks/food. Goes to show that this place is busy the moment it opens its doors & now I know why. The interior design is very rustic but not over done like that of Juliette a few blocks down. Very effortless and relaxing. They play a mixture of classic golden love songs. I ordered the best matcha latte with almond milk I've ever had! So creamy! I ordered the Salmon Bowl & it was the best salmon of my life - flavor in each bite, the skin was nice and crispy on top. Underneath was a warm bed of quinoa and drizzled with a tangy sauce. Boyfriend got the cheeseburger with fries and the fries were pretty good as well. He also ordered a cocktail with tequila and pineapple. It was mixed well and not too strong. Overall will come back again to bring my out-of-towner family a solid brunch. read more

Oh wowww. This palce is really cute! the atmosphere is amazing- it really takes you back in time and feels like an old-time diner. The staff is nice and cute too. I went there twice- once for brunch and once for dessert and drinks. the drinks are nice- they ahve their own special drinks with unique ingredients. I can't recall the names , but one was spicy and it was really really good and I recommend getting it if you like spicy stuff. For brunch I had the poached eggs con la sourdough, and it was really delicious. Fresh ingredients!! I normally don't like to sit at the bar but the service there was as great as it was at a table and i really had a great tyme. Does this place have any relation to Toni Collette? LOL read more

Randomly stumbled by this place and decided to stop in for a late breakfast. Service was excellent and food was incredibly tasty. I got the Chorizo and Rajas scramble. Excellent use of peppers just the right amount of spice. My Mom got the Goat cheese, basil, and avocado omelet. I snagged a few bites and it was cooked perfectly and the goat cheese added a nice tart flavor with the avocado smoothing it all out. Washing it all down was a mexican coke! Not high fructose corn syrup here. My only negative point would be that the side salad had a dressing that left a slightly bitter taste in my mouth.. Might have been the oil, but I usually always finish my salad. Just couldn't do it with the dressing. read more

I like this place. The atmosphere (in the summer time) is very Parisian sidewalk cafe. I was there for brunch. The food was good. I had the french toast and some roasted potatoes, both of which were good, not mindblowing, but good. The service was good. Our waiter was attentive, and made sure we had plenty of BK Lagers and such to go with our food. If I was to go back to Williamsburg for some brunch, I would come to Cafe Colette again. It's off the beaten path, so it's not too much going on, but also only a block from the action. The service and overall experience left a good taste in my mouth. read more

The burger itself is good, but the fries tasted weird and when we almost finished we found a very small fluff of unknown hair.....totally lost my appetite..... Came here for brunch with a friend. The interior is very cute and the back area has wonderful lighting. Our toasts were burnt and our second coffee order took over 15min to arrive. It wasn't packed so the service seemed to be slow regardless. The food was tasty so I will happily come back again for their ambiance. read more

Stopped here on a recommendation from a friend and I was not disappointed. The egg sandwich was surprisingly delicious and had an aioli sauce that really tied it all together. I've been here twice. Both times I've gotten the Lemon Ricotta pancakes....OMG people! They are so good. The pancake part is light and fluffy and comes with a lemon syrup. Heavenly, people! My husband has gotten the eggs in purgatory and said he liked it, but wouldn't get it again. I can't remember what he got most recently, but he has mentioned going back. It's definitely staying on our list of places to go. They also have a to go window which is nice for people that just want a croissant or coffee....they also have outdoor seating so in the spring, I'm totally bringing my dog to brunch. read more

Instead of a plate, it was served on an oval board, which was visually pleasing, but not the best thing for someone who's messy like me. The staff was friendly and helpful. Beautiful atmosphere, horrible food. First off, let me first say that the atmosphere here is incredible. It had a very cool vibe, and I loved the place from the minute I sat down. In fact, I eagerly texted my Mom, telling her that we should check this place out when her and my family are in town next week. That being said, the food was irredeemably bad. Not just, "oh, I expected better", but straight-up bad. I don't know what's going on in the kitchen, but it is nothing short of gross incompetence. I ordered the squash ravioli as my entree, and the first thing I noticed was that it did not look appetizing at all. It wasn't sitting in a sauce of any kind, but what looked more like a liquidy soup. As I cut into the first piece, it quite literally disintegrated into the watery mess. Still stupidly thinking there must be some culinary method to this madness, I used the side of the plate to "drain" the second piece before biting into it. As soon as the piece of ravioli opened up inside my mouth, I was overwhelmed with the strangest sensation: the liquid that the ravioli had been soaking in was hot, but the center was ice cold. Again, not in an "oh, just it's been sitting for a while" cold, but in a "this ravioli was frozen and the kitchen didn't cook it through all the way" type way. This actually confused me, and I almost thought it may just be some new avant-garde way of serving ravioli. There are a number of reasons why I didn't initially believe it was a kitchen error: 1. What restaurant of this size and supposed caliber freezes ravioli?? If I'm paying 25 dollars for four pieces of ravioli I expect it to be made fresh. This in itself is unacceptable. 2. Even if it was frozen, why on earth would they not let it thaw beforehand? This was the evening of Valentines Day; it's not as if they were unexpectedly slammed with customers on short notice. 3. Even if it was fresh out of the freezer, not cooking ravioli all the way through is a completely amateur mistake to make. For the first time in my life, I returned a dish at a restaurant. The waiter was nice and extremely apologetic, and assured me that it was not, in fact, supposed to be cold in the middle. About ten minutes later, a new plate of ravioli came out... STILL COLD. Although it was still cold in the middle, it was at least somewhat bearable for me to eat. I say "somewhat", because even if this ravioli was cooked to perfection, it still would have tasted horrible. The soupy "sauce" was present in this batch as well. I'm pretty passive, so I didn't raise my concerns about this second dish, but in hindsight I should have. I still find the fact that the kitchen managed to undercook my frozen pasta a second time mind-boggling. On top of that, my girlfriend's chicken was dry and overcooked, so her experience wasn't much better. I could hear the table next to us making comments about how their octopus tasted frozen as well, so it's definitely not an isolated problem. I will definitely never spend money on food here again, which breaks my heart because the atmosphere was so amazing. That simply isn't redeeming enough of a quality for me to spend money on expensive frozen food. read more

Had previously been for brunch which we found very good ... So very disappointed when we did dinner this time round. Didn't have a huge amount of time so decided on steak and fries (unremarkable) with a couple of vegetable sides, the asparagus (meh) and sugar snap peas (diced small and served raw ... A dish needing more than a couple of thin slices of radish to elevate it) between us. Took far to long to appear from the kitchen and with just one bottle of beer, extremely over priced at over $80 and the tip still to pay. Many better choices around ...
