It was poppin in here this morning! They have a pretty good selection to choose from, mostly staples from Latin cuisine. I typically just get the jibarito here just because it's my favorite food. They do it well here, but definitely not as good as Papa's or a true Puerto Rican spot. It hit the spot. On top of that, they had $5 margaritas & mojitos & $3 beer for the Super Bowl! I loved this place when i lived in Logan Square, i would always gets the egg tacos with chorizo and drench them with both sauces, drink some cafe con leche and watch the parade of old man gangsters out front doing their thing. It's unfortunate when places have a significant number of high reviews that they think they can treat their customers badly. I ordered food for delivery. 2(!) hours later I called. They said the delivery driver tried calling me but I didn't answer. I told them that I live in a single family residence, that I have a doorbell, and the delivery driver wasn't delivering the food to my phone but to my door... I was listening for a doorbell. Ummm... so why didn't he ring the doorbell? The manager was incredibly rude. It's so sad I can't just drop in to this place whenever anymore. I used to come to this cramped little spot on Milwaukee nearly every day for either a sandwich or huevos rancheros. My daughter and I came in for breakfast after hearing rave reviews from friends. I ordered the steak torta and my 6 year old had the french toast. It was almost impossible to cut her toast - it was weirdly chewy - and she had a difficult time eating it as well. My torta was underseasoned and needed salt and pepper. A lot of salt and pepper. The potatoes were amazing. Cold, but amazing. Service was ok, but we were seated immediately and our food arrived quickly. I'll try it again for dinner. read more

This place has become a neighborhood staple almost by default just because it's very close to our apartment and it's open really early. As a result, when my partner wants an early-morning shot of fancy caffeine, this is the joint I trek over to. I've had a few meals here and they're good but not great -- the Cubans and ropa vieja are very fine, but the tortas are just average. Note that this becomes a whole different place in the evening, with the same owners but a different staff, menu and approach. My husband and I love to try new restaurants and Cafe con Leche came highly recommended. The place is warm, cozy and inviting but that's the nicest thing I can say about this restaurant. The food LOOKED appealing but I cant say I enjoyed even a drink. After waiting 10 minutes for a table we waited another 15 minutes before we got up and left. In the 15 minutes no one came to our table to take our food/drink order or even introduce themselves and apologize for the wait. The worst part is that 3 waiters and 2 bus boys walked several times in front of our table and no one cared to even ask if we had been taken care of. The empty table next to us became occupied and within 2 minutes they had their drinks delivered and their order taken. It's bad service overall if you don't notice a table has gone unattended after 3-4 minutes. First impressions are lasting impressions. Disappointing. read more

Ordered a quesadilla and salad for pick-up and they sent me home with the incorrect food. Refused to offer me a refund until a delivery man came to my house to pick up the incorrect food. Not sure why they are inconveniencing me and making me wait for a delivery driver when it was their mistake. Terrible customer service, will not order from here again. If they really wanted to make up for this, they would have delivered the CORRECT food to my house free of charge. read more

Been going here all the time for the past year. I live just a block away. Maybe once every two weeks. Give or take. Fantastic cafe con leche and hot chocolate! I think anything on their brunch menu is pretty great. I've never not once received bad service or rude service. It's a small place, so you can complain all you want about having no room or having to wait for room. Yes, welcome to Chicago. If you start conversation. I had the Cubano, and it was GREAT! Of course I had the cafe con leche, too. It was much bigger than I expected, and it was delicious! I am not a huge coffee fan, but I am glad I do not live in Logan Square because I would probably get one of these every day! D'Noche was a great experience for our junior board meeting. Logan Square is always a fun neighborhood with plenty of great restaurants and this is one that you've gotta try. The service was friendly and smiley, the food came fast and it was delicious. I ordered the caldo with chicken and was surprised at how tasty and filling this simple soup was. It had shredded chicken, carrots, potatoes, onion and cilantro all tossed in there with rice and corn tortillas on the side. I wanted something lighter and it was perfect as I wasn't in the mood for something cheesy and heavy. Just right. There was also a 10% off coupon for checking in on yelp which always helps especially in a big group. Luckily they didn't complain when I forgot to give it to them early and they had to re-ring us up. But they did with a smile. Ambiance-wise this place is nice...smooth and loungey so it would be good for a date. The one thing that I knock off a star for though is the fact that there is no double door (or maybe they'll put up one of those plastic tarp things when it gets colder) because when someone opens the door, the people seated by the door gets blasted with cold air which is one of my pet peeves dining out in the winter. read more

This place is awesome. You should note that they do take reservations, and it gets pretty crowded. The cafe con leche, of course, is great but not too strong (I like strong coffee). I had the chorizo omelette and I'm sure anything with chorizo is real gud hurr. Plantains and tostones were also sampled and I can only brag about those. I just like going here! The food is ok, the place just has a good feel on a warm summer night. This location was dying for a place like this. With the doors open and people walking by and good food this is a nice place to go. The hot sauce there is the best I've have ever had. I would pay out the nose for them to bottle that stuff up! Great, simple Cuban food. I came once for a Veggie Torta and was wowed, came again for a quesadilla (no cheese, add some plantain) and it was scrumdiddlyumptious. The bartender is a peach, and the owner treated me to a tequila shot, looks like this place may become my new home away from home. Especially since the kitchen stays open til one, and they project important games on a movie screen! D'Noche hosted their first artist showcase featuring a youth artist from my work. They were super nice about everything and the space was set up great with his artwork. What a great little spot! It's super cute, dimly lit and nicely decorated. We had reservation on Friday night and were seated right away. The service was great - our waitress recommended the ceviche for a starter which was fresh and delicious. For dinner, I had the grilled chicken with plantains, rice and salad. It was simple, well presented and very tasty. My friend had the shrimp with tomato/caper sauce and she said it was great! The cocktails were tasty and reasonably priced. I love D'Noche! I am moving out of Logan Square and I am going to miss this place so much. They have great food, great portions for their prices, and great drinks. I frequented their Wednesday $5 Margarita special when I lived in the neighborhood. Also, management is very nice here which makes me really appreciate the business- I love it when owners actually participate in their restaurant and will take the place as waiter/bartender when they have to. read more

Was on the hunt for a drink special to cool my jets on a summery Wednesday night. Enter D'Noche and $5 Margarita Wednesday! My sis and I grabed an outdoor table and enjoyed ordered our first of many rounds of Ms Rita. The service was attentive, friendly, yet not overbearing or intrusive. Our drinks were surprisingly generous given their minuscule price. While the sites and sounds of Milwaukee Ave are exciting, I think next time I'll sit on the back patio. I think we caught them on an off night this night... I hope. Went a few weeks ago for the second time, weekend evening. It's been a while since we were there. The server was very nice, but the food was bad bad. Our two cocktails were good, but did not taste a lick of alcohol. Cocktails, spirits are my favorite things. And I tasted nothing. And they weren't cheap. We had the appetizer Fiesta Platter. It looked like a deep fried mess and it was tasteless. Calamari could barely be bitten through, and I nibbled the other pieces only once before passing on all of it. The server took it away half full. The dips just seemed to be salad dressings. One was just thousand island. Maybe it was supposed to be. If so, ok, but that is just sad. Is that Latin? Maybe I don't know what I'm talking about. I had the Carne Con Chimichurri. Carne was muy mal. Not good. It was tough covered in oil, thrown together. I could just tell we had received the short end of the stick. My wife believes the waiter knew it too, but NOT in a malicious way; but in a 'he knows the food was not good and was concerned'. She said he kept looking at us. He didn't say anything, but I also felt like he was a bit embarrassed. And I understand: bad night. read more
