When I first walked in I knew I like this place, just the spices and aroma makes it authentic. . They have cute interior and the vibe is very friendly and family. . Love how they recognize close customers. . So I got the rice plate. She gave me half jerk chicken hald curry chicken and half rice with beans and rice with black eye peas. Along with a salad in the box. . I love the generous portion and the affordable price. The lunch was great and authentic in flavors. One of the best jerk chicken I have tasted. . So I came back to try the sandwiches and curry chicken roti. . Curry chicken roti is a nice and hot delicate bread wrap called roti and she smoosh the potatoes and then put scoops of jamaican curry chicken sauce and protein. Then wrap it together. Don't forget to add a dollar to get some of the hot sauce to drizzle on top. . Hot sauce is home made and yes hot sauce is hot the batch I tried. Its like a Thai chili paste. But of course its more unique. Just comparing how it is like. They have a little sample for a dollar or if you love it so much get the jar for I think 5.99 and up. . Blt chicken sandwich got that for lunch and it was amazing. One of the best sandwiches I had in a while. It was the perfect lunch . Wondered in here on a work day for lunch. The beef patties are sooooo good. Only $5 and it's so big and filling. All I needed for lunch. My coworkers got the chicken club wrap for about $9 and they said it was really good. Took about 5 min for them to prepare. My coworkers kept telling me that the ox tail stew and the jerk chicken over red beans and rice was theeeeeeeeee best!!!!! So we met up for lunch there. Everyday is a different lunch special. Apparently Thursday's are jerk chicken days and Fridays are the ox tail stew switching off every other Friday with host curry. Went on a Thursday and got the small portion in a bowl of jerk chicken that either came with red beans and rice or black eyed pease and coconut rice for $4.80? or the regular portion on a plate that gives a bigger portion on the meat and rice along with a side of salad for $8 and some change. I got the small bowl and it was a perfect amount. I was offered salsa on top and I asked if it was spicy. They stated that it was not spicy but they have habanero salsa they can top it off with. Of course I got both!!!!!! My chicken was a bit over charred. The cashier apologized and I was too hungry to ask for another piece of meat. The salsa definitely helped with the over char. I like a little char usually. The bowl was smashingly delicious!!!! I cleared every grain of rice. I ordered the house made ginger beer. It was not sweet, it just tasted like beer and water. My coworker stated it tasted different that day and was disappointed as well. I will have to try it again. I think it was 3.99? Or 2.99 for a 16oz cup. Checked this cute place out for lunch. It is busy but has a fast moving line. There is only indoor seating but you can also get food To go. Came here on a Thursday for lunch after searching up restaurants in the area. There aren't too many carribean spots around but this one truly hits the spot. The special was the jerk chicken, and curry. They let you get mixed plates so I did half jerk chicken, half curry chicken. For the sides I got salad, half red bean rice and half coconut rice. Jerk chicken - Tender, charred, very intense flavor with a bit of spice. Really tasty and is like it just came off the grill. Curry chicken - Never tried carribean curry, in fact didn't know they had curry. It's not made with any cream or coconut milk so it's closer to a Japanese curry than a Thai or Indian curry. Definitely mild on heat while still delivering on taste. The chicken is fall apart tender and absorbed much of the curry flavor. Also has potato which was great. Rice - preferred the coconut rice more than the red bean rice, although while covered in curry I couldn't really tell. They're a bit more soft and moist than fluffy. Salad - simple leafy greens salad with a peanutty dressing. Dressing was sweet and savory, pretty good. Service is fast and friendly, portions are big, price is pretty cheap for what you get. They have items missing or just don't care to make since it's not busy. It also took a long time to get my food even though the place was empty. They sold me some bread stuff that was a day old and dry. It was bland and the regular Italian dressing it came with didn't do much to salvage it. I ordered a chickpea curry wrap. This is a gem in downtown Sacramento. I had never really had Caribbean food before and was excited to try this place out for lunch. After much Yelp research I decided that I needed to try their oxtail stew and lucky for me, it was available the Friday I went in! The staff was very friendly. For instance, they helped me pick the best rice to go with my meal and struck up some conversation with me while I dined solo. Now for the food. I do not think I have ever had oxtail before. On top of that, I am not the biggest fan of beef. But I do like trying new things and boy am I glad I did! The oxtail stew is amazing. It is one of the best lunches I have had downtown. The meat was so soft and flavorful and the cartilage seemed to just melt in my mouth. Do yourself a favor and get down the Cafe Connection to try this. The portion sizes are large and I ended up taking half of it to-go with me... and then proceeded to eat the rest at my desk. The food is that irresistible! Finally got this try this restaurant as I heard that they had some really good jerk chicken! Came here for lunch around 12PM and got half of the jerk chicken and half of the veggie curry coconut rice plate. It also came with salad where they had various dressing you can choose from. They also have salsa for the jerk chicken as well. Service was really fast. The food was hot and ready. Flavor was good but it could've been better in my opinion. The chicken was soft and tender which was good. Curry had a small kick to it which was a plus. Kinda wished they would have put more salsa with the chicken as it would've gave it that extra flavor. They have a set menu but also specials each day of the week. I tend to be a creature of habit, so I always get the jerk chicken. The portions are huge, tasteful, and taste just as good as left overs. I respect the place has Caribbean food. They even have an oxtail stew. They have jerky. I wanted try the oxtail stew. May be somewhat different than oxtail soup I am used to, again, I respect the cultural difference. Now as Fearless Freddy that Sacramento hotel you knowing where, you knowing when, you knowing who, if more people have that childlike honesty, this with respect to different of ethnic groups, there will be less violence and more (I WOULD HOPE) peace and more friendship. I had the Thai peanut dressing, which was tasty and complemented my meal well. The food was really, really good. For $7.50, you get a good amount of food. If you like spicy food, you would love the Indian Spice Chicken. For those that don't, they have a mild version, curry chicken. Side Notes Ambiance: There's lots of seating and the place is very clean. Service: The wonderful lady that served me was really helpful.
