This place is a gem for state workers who work nearby. The service is friendly and the food is made to order. There are plenty of seats around and the place is relatively quiet and clean. I've tried numerous items on the menu and it's definitely made to order. The only thing I would suggest improving is the garlic fries. The only thing that distinguishes it from the normal fries is just a pile of minced garlic on top. My favorite item, although it's sometimes available, are their breakfast burritos during breakfast times. Out of the 4-5 nearby breakfast burritos nearby this one has the best quality ingredients and at a good price point. I would call in advance to see if they can make you one prior to picking up. Poor service! Always closed, never know when they open or not. They say they serv breakfast and lunch,but no specific time. But when you order breakfast at lunch or lunch at breakfast. They have attitude and say that its lunch time not breakfast. They should communicate better with their customers. read more

That being said, I would have expected a little more effort in this case. It's pretty bland or bare bones. I dined al fresco, which was great, but I wish the tables were cleaner, had fewer stickers and graffiti. 1/5 Service: service counter at the back after you walk in. Simple menu. Friendly and quick. For what it is - 5/5 Food: it's fine. It kind of reminded me of an elevated McDonald. The brioche bun was soft and buttery. For what is probably a frozen piece of sausage and hash brown, it was tasty if you're into that salty, oily experience, which I am. That being said, I think it could have used more flavor such as more spread. There was some type of mayo I didn't notice any hot sauce options 3/5 I don't think this place is trying to pretend to be something else. Great cafeteria located on the corner of R St and Alhambra Blvd. I've had so many great meals here, from a breakfast to some fantastic lunches. If you're lucky enough to visit on a day that they have chalupa as the daily lunch special, I'd highly recommend it. Breakfast burritos are a solid staple here, with choices of bacon, sausage, chorizo. You can also order a special burrito like I do with extra bacon. Well more good then bad... lol great customer service because they made a burger for me in the am. :). Sher said they dont usually do that but made an exception. I appreciated that. The burger was cooked very good and the egg was perfect. I just dont eat processed cheese so the one thing I really needed was the avocado. She mentioned when I told her at the end that she didnt charge me for it but that wasnt the point! Lol I mean the burger was already 20$ to begin with and she said it comes with fries which I did not care for at all. Which is funny cuz it comes with fries but no drink? I've worked down the street for YEARS and wish I wouldve known sooner this place was so close to me! 10/10 did not disappoint! I walked in and was greeted by a super sweet lady who offered the special to me (french dip) and I love a good French dip! I'm now sitting at work and INHALED half the sandwich before I could make this post lol the sandwich, the fries, EVERYTHING is perfect. Bread toasted, and all food freshly made to order... Breakfast is only served to 10:30. We arrived at 11 and they agreed to make an egg breakfast sandwich but I think that was stretching it because she said they were "very busy right now". But the place was almost empty so I strained to keep an understanding expression. (:-) I didn't add $4 chicken to my salad so it was just under $18 for the salad and sandwich. I walked in here and it was empty during breakfast. Usually a bad sign but I was starving. I looked over the menu, 11.99 for an omelet with toast and hash browns, bacon .75 extra. I felt that it was overpriced but again, I was starving so I paid. I got my food and went to my spot to eat. The sourdough toast was thick, toasted perfectly and flavorful. The hash browns were standard but I got two, so that's value. The omelet was THICK. DELICIOUS. Tons of bacon and cheese. I only ate half and I was full. The amount of food and the quality is above and beyond. This is a hidden spot in midtown that needs more attention because the food is awesome. And it was quick, maybe 5 minute wait. So today was my first time ordering food here. Today's special was Chicken Fried Rice with Spring Rolls. They listed it for $7.99 which I figured was a good lunch price. Honestly, it really wasn't very good. The egg rolls were crispy on the outside but kind of soggy on the inside. The fried rice flavor was also slightly off. All of my coworkers rave about this place so I feel like maybe I just didn't luck out with today's lunch special. Everyone says great things so I'll definitely be back next week to try another special! I don't recommend the Chicken Fried Rice. The place was very clean and the people were super friendly! The woman up front at the register was so kind and welcoming. I am looking forward to coming back and trying something new. The chicken gyro is one of the best they've had for specials. Can never go wrong with their daily specials. The folks there are good people and always treat everyone professionally and friendly.
