TL;DR - French toast crepe is A+, but could use more cheese and less strawberry topping. I ordered a French toast crepe at around 8am for a Monday morning breakfast. The brie was enough to leave me feeling satiated and satisfied, while the combination of strawberry topping and cinnamon sugar gave me the energy I needed to start the day right. The distribution of brie in the crepe was a little unsatisfying. My first few bites near the opening of the crepe were filled with brie, but there was almost no cheese near the pointy end of the crepe. It could have been a byproduct of the strawberry topping's juices dripping to the very bottom (diluting the rest of the flavours). My crepe bar has been set pretty high by the delicate ice cream crepes at Konbiniya, so take it with a grain of salt! read more

There was a time when there was one. Now I can't count how many they are. Chains always get a bad rap. This one falls victim to it just as much as an Earls, Cactus Club or a Milestones for example. I like this place. Whether it is a dessert or savoury crepe, I am satisfied. You get a filling meal for what you pay for. It's fun to walk and stroll around downtown with this food but dining is always an option. An interesting side note. I have friends who hang out here for the cheap drinks before hitting the bar. I had no idea this was a popular thing to do. I regularly order a Crepe filled with ham, Swiss cheese and mushrooms. Mmmmmmmmm.....so good! You bite into a piping hot crepe with gooey melted cheese. Can I add another 5 stars? Both times when visiting here with my boyfriend have we had amazing food that was beyond perfection. It would be nice to have more seating but otherwise change nothing! What I like about Cafe Crepe is, well, the crepes. I'm sure there could be better crepes out there. From some of the other reviews that says the crepes are a bit rubbery, they're probably right. But I like it. The ingredients inside are good. I personally don't like the Crepes with alcohol infused as I only taste the liquor. But mostly, it is a tasty experience. The staff... oh my the staff. The staff is what drops this place from a 4 to a 2. I'd go even lower but I'm feeling generous because the food is at least nice. The space is very cramped, especially where there's tables and no booth. You might as well be best friends with the table next to you because you don't even have space to put your bag beside you. It's really awkward when the next table over is a couple trying to play kissy face. At the door there's a sign that says "please wait to be seated" and then you get a random staff member (apparently there's no set host or hostess) who waves you in and then glances tentatively into the space before picking a (what seems like random) spot to sit you. Some times the said random staff will run around the place just trying to find a menu. We'd get 1 menu between the two of us if we're good. You'd think a place that says "wait to be seated" would be a little better prepared. Once you sit down, this random "host/hostess" doesn't even take your drink order. Fine, just in case I haven't had a chance to read the menu. But then it takes another 10 min for the real server to come grab our drink orders... in the nastiest manners. This is literally the conversation that took place: Me: "Can I get a Ginger Ale?" Server: "We're out of Ginger Ale." Me: "Oh... OK then..." *waiting for them to make a suggestion.. offer something else. apologies??* *pause* Me: "I'll get a Sprite". Seriously? Not a "Oh I'm sorry we're out of Ginger Ale? Would you like something else instead?" Whatever. I chalk it up to a poorly trained staff on a bad night. Then this happens... (Note, we were there on the night the Canucks won the President's Trophy.) So we're all looking at the TV and cheering, clapping.. the girl that brought the dish over couldn't put the plates down over our clapping hands. Instead of waiting (frankly the entire restaurant was clapping), or saying excuse me, she just bumped us to move. Later on, the Ginger Ale girl came back to confirm my order. I couldn't hear her over the loud TV noises so I said "what?". Instead of repeating herself she just walked away. I sat there befuddled as to what just happened since I had no idea what she just said. Ginger Ale girl also did not even ask if she could take the plates away before promptly removing the first course plates from our table. To a point I was scared she was going to take my full plate away as well. When we were actually done, Ginger Ale girl simply said "Are you done?". Not a "How was everything? Could I offer you anything else tonight?". Seriously?! Who trains your staff Cafe Crepe? Manners! I also especially like the anecdotes I hear on other occasions when I sit by the door: "Don't let them just walk in like that!" or "Get that guy out of here!". Yes, I realize when they kick the hobos out it's for the protection of the patrons but, try and do it more discretely and perhaps with a bit more class. I also quite enjoy when the waitresses holler over my head to another staff. It's not that big of a place people. Walk over and talk to your co-worker. This isn't a country bar. So I don't know... If you have alot of time to spend, come here. From the time we walked in, to receiving our crepes, took 40min. And it wasn't even busy. No one greeted us for at least 5min,so we weren't sure if it was a seat yourself kind of place, which is always awkward. I'm gonna keep this one short and sweet mainly because all I had was the crepe and I was in a hurry. The service was prompt and the decor was fairly casual. I really enjoy the service and the setting. I was a little confused about the menu, but the waitress quickly clarified everything for me and was especially kind about it. The food, however, was not as nice. My crepe was a little over-cooked and started to brown a bit. The crepe itself was fairly good. Soft and a light buttery flavor, of course I was not able to enjoy it because there was so much sugar and coconut flakes that every bite felt like I was going to go into a diabetic coma. I think they could have toned down sugar more and could have been a little more inventive with the crepe. It was simply just 3 fillings and I don't know if I can consider melted sugar and coconut flakes a "filling". I actually forgot I order one filled with rum, which I also could not taste because of the sugar. They really should have balanced out the crepe, because this was not even a special order crepe. The wifey and I were walking down the street and saw Cafe Crepe. Instantly, we were in the mood for crepes. The only problem was that we had just eaten at JapaDog and Fritz, so we were both full. When it comes to food, our motto is "When there's a will, there's a way!" So the solution we devised was to 1.) share a crepe and 2.) get a "light" crepe. We opted for a lemon-butter-sugar crepe. You Canadians don't know how good you have it. It is so hard to find a well made dessert crepe in Texas. Flip Happy Crepes in Austin, Texas as much as people rave about it does not compare to this place. The strawberry and nutella crepe here was phenomenal. There was so much filling in it, it was totally worth the 7.75 CAD. Best thing is, there's no crazy 45 minute wait for a crepe. I give it 5 stars. I went in to order a crepe with fresh strawberries and one with butter, cinnamon, and sugar. After I ordered, I waited... and waited... and waited a lot longer than I would have assumed it would take to make two simple crepes. As I waited, I watched as a man juggled making crepes while taking orders. I got excited thinking we were getting fresh crepes. But was confused when I look a couple feet over to see two staffers making the crepe orders from pre-made crepes, warmed up on the stone (or whatever that thing is). It's not like it takes very long to make a fresh crepe for each order. And the crepes they were pre-making wasn't really saving them time. Weird. The crepes were good. Not mind-blowing, but again, we kept our orders pretty simple. However, it still really bothered me they weren't freshly made to order. A friend came downtown and took me out to breakfast. We were walking around Granville street and we happened upon Cafe Crepe. We ended up sharing a big special breakfast: 3 eggs 4 sausages and two crepes (an apple and a chocolate banana crepe). Usually I'm so so on crepes and French food. When I come to Vancouver I make sure to visit this spot. It is so delightfully delicious! I find that it is perfectly portioned for my appetite. I had the savoury West Coast crepe and shared the strawberry/ Nutella crepe for dessert. The savoury West Coast crepe is filled with wild sockeye smoked salmon, spinach, herb cream cheese and red onion- I have the onion taken out. When in Canada, you go for crepes, right? So we did - and while decent, nothing mind blowing. While the West Coast - smoked salmon, herbed cream cheese, red onion, and spinach - was good, it was also C$13.50. For an extra C$2.50 did come with a nice (and big) caesar salad. Since I tasted neither, I can't comment. I had Le Vegetarien (C$9.00) - feta, spinach, tomato, and mushroom - but added ham, an extra C$1.50. The crepe was just warm - and was a bit rubbery. The spinach was wilted, but not all was cooked through. The seasoning, however, was just right. For an extra C$2.50, got a big Mediterranean salad - spinach, tomato, feta, red pepper, and a nice balsamic vinaigrette dressing. The Well Seasoned French Fries were perfect. Hot, crispy outside and soft inside, they were perfectly seasoned. And a good thing, too, since the waiter brought the equivalent of a cap full of white vinegar, not the nice cider vinegar one expects for fries. And the waiter. He had to be waved down for requests and barely stopped to see how things were or what we needed. And then, when hubby used the card, the machine went into French - and it was a good thing I was there to translate! Basically, the prices just seemed too high for what was mediocre food and service. I have been here a few times, and the visits have just been ... not memorable. This time I was sure to take note of my experience for the yèlpe. Having a crepe is always comforting, but having to spend more than 20 minutes speaking to a chef on my table makes me kinda sick. Of course the conversation was nice and friendly, but it lasted too long. It was quite okay when the chef got my hint and left the table when I was ready to order, but it was terrible when the Taiwanese waitress (who know if she is even legally working around or not but I hope she is) didn't want to to leave my table, and she had to pushed my limit by asking us "Do people in California drink wine?" instead of leaving us starting an order that had been placed. I had to specifically tell her "We need some space. Please leave us," in order to get her to leave. When the conversation meant to end, that means the waitress needs to leave us. By asking question like she asked to stay around my table makes Cafe Crepes look unprofessional and shady. Since when does the Crepes restaurant turned into a place where the waitress looking for her next fortune cookie by harassing and offending another woman during the date? I am not sure if that's a restaurant, or the type of place where it needs a special license to operate now? If there is any manager exist in this place, please let this Taiwanese waitress know that she was over the top of her head. She should had left us after we ordered our food and started the order immediately, instead of trying to stay around and waste our time because that is what should happened in a legitimate restaurant. Also, the waitress has to understand, by trying to flirt with my significant other in front of me isn't going to get her further in life. Woman treats woman the worst, and it wasn't just a theory to me at all. As much as I love the food, I'm giving this place a low rating because the very Taiwanese waitress clearly wasn't educated with ethics and manners. I found the layout of this place confusing. Regardless of which entrance you come in from -- street or indoor mall lobby -- there isn't a logical flow of where to go. Are you supposed to take a seat at one of the uncleaned and disheveled tables? Are you supposed to order at the window? Are you supposed to shuffle along the narrow space between the wall and counter to order at the register? The night I went, neither of the employees even bothered to make eye contact and looked like they hated their jobs and lives and me for standing there wanting to order food. I suppose I was expecting a menu on the wall behind the counter since it's such a casual place. Instead, there's actually a nice standard restaurant menu to browse through. I ordered a ham and cheese crepe with spinach added in. When my order came, I was starving. I took one bite, and I was disappointed. The crepe was bland and tasteless. I immediately felt like I had just wasted my money. I ate the whole thing and still felt unsatisfied and let down. A great crepe leaves a taste that lingers in your memory, one where each bite is savored and you feel sad when you've reached your last bite. This is not the experience you'll have here. Wow. Just wow. I came here for a friend's birthday party, since she booked the back room so we could all sit together and have drinks and dinner. I have been to this location a few times, but it has never been this bad.... ever. The room was busy with loud (probably drunk) friends, I was late (and unfortunately sober, damn you Monday mornings!) I gotta say, when you have a party this big, its usually a good idea to give everyone a number and split up the bill, that way when people move around and sit in different seats, you will know who ordered what, who's items are on who's bill, and you know which dish goes to which person. I know our crew can be pretty unforgettable with our bright pink hair, and giant bouffants, but really?? For example: a girl ordered a pizza, they brought it out, she ate it, then they brought out another one... uh she only ordered ONE pizza. I ordered a cesar salad and a cosmo. The cosmo was good.... When the cesar salad was put in front of me, it was the first time in my life I actually considered sending something back to the kitchen. I have never been a verbal complainer in a restaurant because I have the fear that some minimum wage jackass is going to jerkoff in my food. The salad was comprised of yellowish iceberg lettuce, of which there were huge chunks of the freakin stem of the head of lettuce, a bit of shredded parmesan, some crappy dressing and a few croutons. I had two bites of it before trading with the BF for his salad, even though his was just as weak. He ordered the garden salad, which was just spring mix straight outta the bag with a chopped tomoato. They brought out two little containers with oil and balsamic so you could toss your own salad too. (I know you're expecting to make a crass remark here about salad tossing, but at this point, my sense of humour has diminished.) Like, how freakin hard was it for the staff to throw some spring mix onto a plate and slice a tomato? And if I complained about how shitty the cesar salad was, would I be able to order something else and not pay for the welfare salad? I have never done this so I don't know how it works. Next time, I'll just make salad at home. In any case, I didn't wait around to see how the bill of thirty drunk people was split up, because you never want to be the last man standing when thirty people are on one giant bill, because someone ALWAYS forgets that they had that pitcher of beer, or that martini, and the last man standing always gets shafted. I have some crazy ideas, go into a crepe place and try their crepes. But instead I came in here and had their burger and fries. Why? Because a burger and fries was only $7.50 while a crepe itself was $7.95 and it would be $2.50 for a side of fries. The fries were amazing, the burger was good (didn't blow me a way) and thought it was weird that you had to get your soda in a can. Meaning no refills. I was pretty disapointed with the service. When we first came in we were offered a table facing the door. As the waitress put the menus down she was about to walk away when we told her that we would rather have a booth on the side. We always have to visit this Crepe cafe when in Vancouver! Crepes are so light and oil free can even make them with veggies and egg whites. Very healthy! Kids love the Nutella and fruity ones. Everyone very friendly. Great quick breakfast, lunch or desert time! read more

Although I am tempted to give this place 0 stars after my visit, I am giving it 1 because I don't have any other option. My friends and I were shopping around granville, and decided to go to cafe crepe since we were hungry. I've had pretty positive experiences with the granville location before, and was blown away at the horrible service we received. The guy taking our order was extremely brisk and rude, and the place wasn't even busy. My friend ordered a crepe with smoked beef, feta cheese, egg, and dijon. After waiting for a really long time, she got a crepe with ham instead. When we were telling the guy who made our crepe that he got the order wrong, he wouldn't even look at us. He just said that we were the ones that we're wrong. We went back again for the second time, and told him that he was wrong again. He still refused to look at us, but told us that he was wrong and was "sorry" in the most monotone voice ever just to chase us away. I can confidently say that I will not be visiting this location again. I have never received such rude service in my life. read more

Never again.. I've been to their other locations (never impressed), went from friend for breakfast on a Saturday morning. We ordered very basic things like eggs, sausage, and crepes, etc. Simple right? To demonstrate how slow the service was our coffees were dead cold by the time the food arrived. It took well over an hour for our food. After being frustrated of the server saying 'it's coming', I investigated by visiting the kitchen. Turns out the 2 extremely slow cooks were instead serving the window/street customers instead of the near full seated customers. The 'manager' was absolutely useless as she did not respond to our complaints. No apology, no discount, nothing. Needless to say I would never go back. read more

The food was good enough, on par with the other locations in the area, but I ordered a latte which didn't come until well after I had finished my meal. The latte came tasting burnt. Compared to the lattes I have had at the other locations it was terrible. They were terribly understaffed for the hustle of a Sunday brunch hour and our waitress had no time to attend to us. We weren't asked how the food was and I was unable to flag the girl down to ask for my latte.
