4.12.26 - I usually love this place but there were a few issues with the order this time. It's been about 1-2 years since I've last eaten or ordered from here and decided to order to go for dinner. The web link on Yelp didn't work so I used menu photos from Yelp. 1. Item M14 -Gang Kiew Waan Roti from the photos says it's served w/ roti. But we were charged an additional $3 for roti, which was not mentioned to me when putting in the order. Only after we received our order and saw the receipt did I check Google. Web link on Google works and it appears they changed the name of the item and removed roti from the name. 2. To go portions are small for the price. Chicken larb was enough for like 2 people and had only one piece of lettuce. Papaya salad was also small and 1/2 the container was garnishes (carrots/cabbage). 3. For a noodle soup, any other place would put noodles separate from its broth. My khao soi came all in one container. Forgot to take a photo while it was in the container but there's an old photo of it somewhere on Yelp. 4. Crab fried rice had barely any crab. 5. There was no white rice. Places usually provide some white rice regardless if you order fried rice but I guess that's an extra charge here. 6. We ordered medium spicy for majority of the dishes because one person can't handle spicy but everything came out mild tasting. Even my khao soi, which I ordered hot spicy level, came out mild. 7. Thai tea was missing. After ordering, I asked the person on the phone to read back my order to me. She listed everything I had ordered including the thai tea. But after the order was picked up (not by me), the thai tea was not included in the order. It's a bit out of the way from here to there so no one is going to drive all the way back to get it. I went elsewhere close by for the thai tea. Such a welcoming atmosphere! Great selections-and unique. Our entrees were delicious and the service was top notch.
We came to Cafe de Bangkok a few weeks ago for lunch with the family. It is likely the best Thai food in the Gilbert area. The servers are always so kind and gives great suggestions. The place is busy but clean. We are seated immediately always. Recently I tried the crab curry and it is one of the most delicious curries I've ever had. The pad Thai is always great here. My family always enjoys coming here.
Not sure where to start, a nice authentic Thai restaurant. The server was very friendly. Kept stopping by and explain everything about the food , the menu and the ingredients. He mentioned how they used really authentic fresh ingredients. Their lychee mocktail was really good and it had lychees in it and not lychee jelly. The kao soi is definitely a must truly. We got the platter for the appetizer for everyone to share. However if you go small group and would like to chose one or two things from there. I highly recommend their shrimp. Their desserts were good as well, forgot the name of the other dessert it was the special that day, I think it was sugar toast or something with ice cream. Highly recommend trying hard as well. The place was clean and well maintained. For a Friday night it was quite easy to find and get a table right away.
It was a Monday night and my husband and I were in the area without the kids for a couple of hours... When I suggested Thai food, he was game so we searched the Yelp app for nearby options and came across this place! They were doing some decent business when we walked in but we were seated promptly. It's a casual but festive ambiance - definitely with a local, hidden gem kind of feel. Service was friendly and helpful as we needed some guidance on what to order - everything sounded great! We went with a green curry chicken dish and a pad thai (the non-street food version). Both were very good, although the pad thai was a tad bit sweet for us. Portions sizes and prices are reasonable and we had leftovers too... I hope to return to try some other options in the future. Enjoy!

As Thai cuisine is one of my favorite cuisines, I decided to have a birthday dinner here with some of my closest friends. I ordered two orders of chicken satay for the table, a duck curry for my entree, and I washed it down with a cherry temple. I also did a couple of sake bombs for my birthday and that's always a delight. The chicken satay was so surprisingly tender. I usually avoid chicken dishes while dining out in fear of dry, overcooked meat but this place does chicken well. I even let out an involuntary, "mmm!" when biting into the satay. As for my duck curry, it was a sweet dish. The lychee and other fruit in it comes off strong. Get it spicier to have a more balanced flavor profile. I would have liked more duck too but that's just because I love me some duck. Thai food isn't just food, it's a journey through flavors and this place does it well. The staff is super friendly, having taken a birthday cake we had brought to store in their fridge and providing plates and lighting the candles come dessert time. They also sing a fun birthday song!
I've been looking for a new go to Thai spot in Gilbert and I think I've finally found it. They have happy hour from 5pm - 6:30pm! There's an Early Bird dinner set which is a choice of a drink, one of the entrees and it comes with spring rolls and a Tom Khao soup. I got the Yellow Curry and it was so flavorful. One of the best yellow curries I've ever had! It's definitely a bit more on the spicy side. I got mild and it was more spicy than I expected, so if you aren't use to spice - definitely ask for no spice! The Pad Thai was also so soft and so delicious. I also loved the Tom Khao coconut soup that it came with. The place is well decorated and roomy and the service was attentive. I'll definitely be back to try more of the menu.

One of my local favorites in Gilbert! This place has always provided FANTASTIC food and service. As others have mentioned, the owner is extremely friendly and, if you've been to Thailand, he thoroughly enjoys talking about his home country with you. The restaurant has a very casual but real Thai feel. My go-to's here are the pad Thai, the yellow chicken curry, and the khao soi. DO NOT SKIP OUT ON THIS PLACE.
The flavor of the food here is spectacular! Everyone at the table was raving about their dishes. I especially like that when you ask for your meal to be hot there is actual spice to it. The only drawback was the fact that the air conditioning seemed to be broken and it was a bit warm inside with just the stand alone cooler, but the food more than made up for that.
This is my all-time favorite place to get lunch! And it's gotta be a dine-in lunch to get the full benefits! When you get the lunch menu, make sure to flip it over to ensure you're on the Lunch COMBO side (not the Lunch Special). The Lunch Combo comes with your entree, a free drink (I either get the Thai coffee or the Thai Tea), a cup of the Soup of the Day (the Tom Yum is my fave), and an appetizer! (I will say I've gone here several times, but went yesterday and the lunch combo has changed a bit. They used to have Chicken Satay (Gai Satay) on their appetizer list and I always got that. But now they've removed that option and I'm so sad :( Please add that back!! And it does seem the lunch portions have gotten slightly smaller.) But the food is still amazing. I always get the Rama Gai (basically peanut butter chicken) for the entree. Highly recommend this place for a lunch spot!
If you've eaten your way through Thailand like I did (five weeks, countless bowls of noodles, zero regrets), you know authentic Thai food when you taste it -- and Cafe De Bangkok is the closest thing to the real deal I've found in Arizona. Their Khao Soi is elite. Rich curry broth, tender noodles, perfectly crispy toppings -- it's the dish I dream about and the one I haven't found anywhere else. Their Chicken Satay with peanut sauce is dangerously good. You'll catch yourself contemplating licking the skewer. No shame, it happens. And the Tom Yum and Tom Kha soups? Straight-up comfort bowls. Aromatic, balanced, and exactly like the soups I had in Thailand. Plus the owner is awesome -- super welcoming and always helping out, which gives the place that "family-run, heartfelt" vibe. The menu is reasonably priced; and I'd highly recommend coming for Happy Hour for the best deals! If you want real Thai flavors in AZ, this is your place.

This is probably the best Thai food in the valley! Owners are super nice and they take a lot of pride in making the food they serve. Premium ingredients make the food here so authentic. Came here not knowing Mint Thai was closed so decided to give it a shot and I'm so glad we did! Food was absolutely amazing and service was excellent! Food came out fairly quickly but there wasn't anyone in there when I got there. Only thing was I ordered the pad Thai with medium spicy and it didn't seem like they added any spice to it. Not sure if they forgot to add it or it just wasn't strong enough for me to taste it. But other than that I would highly recommend this place and will definitely come back here when I'm back in the area again. read more

Delicious authentic Thai cuisine that's family owned. My husband and I had a wonderful date night at this cute and charming restaurant. We started off with the Tom Yum Goong shrimp. It was the most flavorful soup ever. Our meals were so fresh and hot with generous portions. The only negative was short staff. Our waiter was very busy so we waited awhile to receive our drinks. Thankfully we got there early before the wait. We noticed a family walked out after never being greeted by the waiter. Unfortunately this is going on at many restaurants right now. This is a delightful discovery! The atmosphere is calm and relaxing; set in a clean, spacious environment. The service was exceptional. The menu has a wide variety of dishes made with distinctive combinations of ingredients that are fresh and cooked just right. And, as you can see, the presentation was very appealing. I learned about this restaurant through a community post on Facebook where someone raved about this place having the best pad thai. I ordered takeout and got pad Thai and pineapple fried rice and Tom kha soup and Wow!!! The pad Thai really is the best I've had in the valley and this place has won our business for Thai food forever as long as it remains consistent. The pad Thai was not dry and so much flavor with a very authentic taste that doesn't taste like cheap and generic like many restaurants around here. The spice level 4 was nice and actually spicy. Quality was amazing, quantity was worth the money. We'll definitely be back and so glad we found this place!! read more

I'm from Thailand and I've been to many Thai restaurants in the valley. A lot of them are good, however, I can say Cafe de Bangkok makes the best Thai food I've tasted in all of Phoenix. I just found this restaurant and already been back twice. For example, I ordered Rahd Na today and this dish is not easy to make. I'm not exaggerating when I say they made this perfectly. Everything from the quality of the wide noodles, the technique of cooking the noodles to the very difficult sauce. It has a consistency of gravy, so that flow needs to be just right. They nailed it and I'm so impressed. I highly recommend Cafe de Bangkok if you want to experience authentic Thai recipes at its best. read more

Delightful presentation and dutiful adherence to quality ingredients. Pad prikh khing is one of my favorite dishes and I often use it as a litmus test for any new restaurant. The peppers are thinly sliced and rather than throwing in whole lime leaves to the stir fry, they finely slice the leaves so that it's full of flavor. While this wasn't my first time at Café de Bangkok, it is my first visit since Covid-19 hit and they have nicely remodeled the interior. The menu is much the same as last year except that more of the dishes are offered with a choice of protein. I was a fan of Mint Thai when it was in this space but towards the end it wad getting a little run down. Café de Bangkok is definitely an improvement and I look forward to walking my way through the menu. read more

Very good pad Thai! I drive 20 minutes to go to cafe de Bangkok. I love the food and the portions are huge! It tastes fresh and has FLAVOR. The owner is very nice as well, and I enjoy supporting a small business owner. I would definitely recommend cafe de Bangkok. I've added a photo. I had already taken quite a few bites. We were there last night and ready to eat the Pu Goong Ob Woon Sen again today!!!! It's under the seafood category, which includes shrimp and crab meat along with great veggies and noodles. So glad we found a Thai place close to our house. The Pad Thai portion was huge and the presentation on the togo order was great. My husband ordered the red curry and also loved his food.
