We were hungover and feeling lazy about making breakfast or going far so we (dejectedly) headed to the omelette shop in Breton village because we live right around there. We happened to park right next to this place and were so excited to see a new breakfast option in Breton Village!! It did not disappoint. It is super cutely decorated and the food is great. We got shakshouka and another breakfast skillet. As far as I know there's nowhere else to have shakshouka in Grand Rapids. Also they have all the coffees my heart desires, including Cafe Miel. I'm so happy I never have to eat at the omelette shop again. read more

This place is so adorable!! When I was looking around for a nice breakfast spot close to my place and off the beaten path of Omelette Shoppe, Houlihan's, and Anna's House, I found this cafe and was immediately grabbed by the sweet decor and amazing looking food. My mother and MIL met me on my birthday out here for breakfast last week. Despite the small space and lack of child-friendly furniture, we found that the food made up for it. We got Turkish coffees, Shaksuka, Acai Breakfast Bowl, and one of the omelettes. Everything came out in a timely manner. The son of the owner was our server, and he was very friendly. Just as we were getting ready to leave, the owner came in and spoke with us for a bit while she and the staff unloaded groceries from their van. She thoroughly enjoyed meeting my daughter and nephew, and was very welcoming. All in all, this is a place to check out if you're looking for unique breakfast items in an intimate setting. Stopped in after church on Sunday for a light bite. This is a great addition to Breton Village. Small, but cozy. Two of the walls are floor to ceiling windows, so lots of natural light. The place was full, but l got lucky with a table outside (there's only two outdoors). Ordered hot tea and the Avocado Hummus toast which came with a lightly dressed side salad. Wow! The toast was crusty, but not hard to bite, the avocado spread was flavorful, great texture, and the salad had a fantastic oil based dressing, which they did not drown the salad in. I will definitely be back to explore more of the menu! read more

What a fun, charming place! I had the avocado toast with a fried egg on it with English tea, and my friend had the shrimp salad with a cappuccino and we were both extremely pleased. The service was wonderful and friendly and ambiance equally wonderful. read more

Recently opened in Breton Village. Agree with the first post in that GR (or the third ward/east side) does not have enough authentic places. So this is refreshing! Decor is very cool and the mid-century chairs/etc seems pretty stylish to my uneducated eye. Service was prompt. Again, they are only a week open so far. Was also served by son of the owners and they are all excited to get the business going. Went with an Americano and it was lovely. Café de Miro service, food, coffee, and atmosphere catapulted us out of our isolating winter covid funk. The young man serving us has found his calling. Passionate in his explanation of the Kurdish food and drink offerings, he also cooked excellent meals and made perfect Turkish coffees. Fantastic, authentic Mediterranean food which is extremely hard to find in west Michigan. My wife and I ordered the Moro Gyro and it was fantastic. A bit of a kick but the cool tzatziki dip complimented the entree nicely. Not to mention the food was served with a delicious salad full of hearty greens with a tangy vinaigrette on top. Thanksgiving Eve I stumbled upon Cafe de Miro and what a delight. I enjoyed the calm ambiance with super tasty Burek and beet yogurt salad. It brought me home to my Eastern European roots. Met Apo, the owner, who graciously and thoughtfully served and talked to me about his family business. All around a huge treat! Highly recommend the cafe and will be returning. read more

We ordered the panini, kofta, and lentil soup. None of our food came out at the same time. First came the kofta after maybe 20 minutes. The kofta was mostly plain salad and three patties of lamb meat, each about 3 inches in diameter and not seasoned. About 10 minutes later, the lentil soup came out. Also, terrible and unseasoned. It reminded us of oatmeal. Then finally after an hour of waiting, we decided to leave. An old man who didn't speak much english kind of gestured us to a box with our food in it. At this point I'm furious and just want to leave. I'm not hungry, I don't care what's in the box, I'm trying to drive home. We get home about an hour away and when we finally open up the box, there's only HALF a panini and a bunch of random salad and spinach. Wow. read more

I eagerly seek out new places, especially if they have a menu that is different from the standard fare. This wonderful addition to Breton Village is such a restaurant, and it is ringing all the right bells! We were pleased to learn that the owners are Kurdish folks who bring traditional tastes and combinations to us, but there is so much more. Not only are the five dishes we tried new and truly delicious, they are screaming with freshness and the tender care the owner brings to each meal. You will not get the packaged anything here - even the coffee is brewed just for you. If you are lucky, the owner - a delightful and creative woman with talents in many areas - will sit with you a bit once her tending to each meal preparation is complete. Her chatting with you is truly an extra treat as her family have emigrated from Turkey and bring tales of a truly different culture and country to augment some combinations of tastes that you will not find in other cafes that have an "Eastern Mediterranean" approach. We were delighted with lunch about a week ago, and we were eager to try breakfast. We were completely satisfied with the food and the sample of some variation of some Kurdish staples that will bring new combinations of tastes and textures to your palate. So, why only 4 stars? Well, there are some small details that they are working out, and in light of the fact that they have been open only 2 weeks, these are truly minor as they have already pretty much perfected the dishes and offerings. Another reviewer mentioned these details or "kinks" in passing, but as I do take my Yelp contributions seriously, I fully expect to move to the 5 star level in a short time. What is absolutely true is that the tastes and quality of the meals are some of the best we have had - anywhere, and we have been fortunate to have dined in some great restaurants. Yes, we do favor the smaller more personalized venues, and we are laying claim to Cafe de Miro as one of our top three favorite spots in Grand Rapids. Here's an insight into our thoughts about certain restaurants: If we really like a place, we hardly ever order anything . . . we merely ask the owner or chef to surprise us. Loved the atmosphere, food, and coffee. The only reason I didn't give the place 5 stars is because there is not "on premise" restroom. It was rainy and I had to leave the restaurant and walk to the public restroom in the outdoor mall in that area. What a great new addition to the area! This cafes decor is spot on and it's a perfect place to grab a meal or sit and enjoy some coffee. I've been there twice now and both the coffee and food has been great. The Brew coffee, the Turkish coffee, and lattes are all delicious. I have also had the gyro and gyro panini, both great choices. The hummus and bread is also delicious and they brought out extra bread for us. After our meal one of the workers, maybe the owner? Brought us a free tiramisu and told us to sit and enjoy the food. The staff has been so kind, polite, and professional whenever I've been there. Overall, an absolutely great place that has unique authentic offerings to enjoy!
