We came to Maui 2 years ago first tome and loved this cafe. Now that we are back again in the island, first thing we did was to come here for dinner. They have great Mediterranean and Indian food selection. I love their vegetable curry (it's vegan too!). The Mediterranean plate is so yummy with delicious hummus. We walked in at 7:23. They close at 8. There was no one on the list to be seated but when I went to write our name the server said they "weren't seating any more people". There were empty tables. This is the second time this has happened to me when I arrived well over 30 minutes before closing. If you close at 8 you seat till 8. That's how this works. The 8pm closing time is already absurd but being denied seating over 30 minutes before closing is insane. I live locally and I won't be back even though I used to eat here regularly. read more

Amazing place, dnt know what's with the negative reviews, but we did enjoy the hummus and warm pita breads made to perfection. We also did get the shrimp and coconut curry wrap, which was very good, better than expected. Considering this is still United States and not India or Middle East, this tropical place provides good fruits and produce, which reminds of the homeland. The curry tasted well and the raita (yogurt based with cucumbers and onions) went really well with it. The mango chutney (moramba) was good to have in the side and unusual to be seen in any restaurants here. The service was good, not too fast or slow, but the girls made sure we got everything in time. Also considering it was raining, they did make sure we were ok and not getting wet, since we were near the window outside. All in all it's a good place in a nice quiet small town of Paia, where most of the options are fish, this one is a bit different. read more

Can't honestly rate them because after trying for four days to make reservations they would never answer their phone. I also wanted to buy a $250 gift certificate for a friend for Christmas who likes the place, but ended up buying from another restaurant that does actually answer their phone. read more

Made our first stop on our trip to Hana.. from Kaanapali beach. It was 8:29am and we approached the open front door at this restaurant.. they placed a chair in the walkway so I guess you can't enter?? Ever heard of closing the door? We stuck our head in.. and asked if they were open? The "Caucasian" girl says rudely " we don't open till 8:30am!!" We'll rude girl.. it's 8:29am, you have no posted hours, and mind you we are your revenue and a simple nice response could of been "we will be with you in a bit as we open in less than 1 minute" take a seat" Just rude and I don't know why we stayed there .. there are soooooo many other restaurants nearby open and probably would love to make our money!! She literally made us stand out side for that 1 minute.... one lady walked right in and I believed she ordered and walked out... Side note- they have patio seating decorated in Hawaiian theme for a French restaurant and that area was not "blocked" but as a tourist you wouldn't think it was the same restaurant since decor was WAY OFF!!! We walked in when " she finally removed the chair" she kept forcing us to sit on that patio... so we did! Even though I did not want too and I also did it so I didn't have to walk back by her!!! They moved slow.. we finally got our order(really 1/2 the order) and mind you.. maybe 30min after being seated we were the 1st there and 1st to be seated!! while we sat for 10-15 min after we put our order in--a huge group of 13-15 walked in and sat down.. all mostly kids!!!! They got their order before US!!!! What!?? How did this happen?? We finally get 1/2 of our order and I couldn't eat in front of my 10yr old.. so we sat and waited and waited for her food.. being the easiest of all of our meals!! A simple fruit crepe---Finally the waitress came by and we asked where her food was????????? She was to check .. came back 5min later as our food kept getting cold!! She says" they had a lot of orders and cook was bombarded" WHAT???? We sat first, ordered first, did not make sense!! I don't understand and still can't believe it!! What is up with these caucasians coming to Hawaii and be rude to their main source of income!! The tourist! The food was good.. small -- overpriced for what you get!! Coffee good but WONT EVER BE BACK!! General impression: We are definitely going back there! I went there twice with my girlfriend for breakfast. The food was excellent, and the service was prompt and friendly. The decor is very 'Paia style'... That would translate into something eclectic, hippyish, rustic and rinky-tink all in one! Very nice decor. We tried both inside and outside and loved them both: quieter outside and lively inside. That said, I cannot give five stars. One of the reasons is that they don't have orange or grapefruit juice... only apple juice... for breakfast? The other thing that seemed strange to us was that they only had italian coffee... in Hawaii?? where the best coffee (Kona) is grown! Other than that I greatly recommend the very simple but succulent ham and gruyere crepes!! read more

We started our trip to Hana here, and so glad we did! Don't expect the typical breakfast menu but some delicious crepe options and flavors you probably haven't had before. I had the spinach crepe (w chia glutten free option) and my husband went for the curry shrimp crepe (AMAZING!). The place in the back is cute and decor very typical of an island. Such an interesting little place. I was a fan of their covered in patio seating, live music, and pretty darn amazing margaritas. The menu consisted of Mediterranean, curries, and crepes. Everything that the table ordered was delicious. So delicious in fact, that we had one of those moments where there was silence at the table while we ate. And that never happens at my dinner tables. I wanted to try more of their foods but I was just so stuffed from inhaling all that we ordered. Definitely coming back when I am home again next year. read more

Another great find in Paia town! thanks to Yelp to show this up when I searched for vegetarian food options. We had a lunch there - Butternut Squash & Garbanzo Bean Curry was super delicious! It was very nicely made w perfect spice level. I liked the coconut flavor that you find in Kerla recipes. Spinach and feta cheese savory crepe was nice, we togo'ed it so it was a bit soggy'ish. While in the hospital one of my doctors recommended Cafe des Amis in Paia. He is native Indian and he had taken his parents there while on vacation. A stamp of approval from native Indians (sub continent ofAsia)was good enough for us. Chicken curry with rice was great especially when mixing in some Mango chutney! Our other dish was. This is was my group's first choice after a long hike! We came around 5p right in time for happy hour. He happy hour is pretty good for the price! This is a quiet little place in Paia, Hawaii that is so adorable. I love the outdoor patio seating. Every single item I have tried has completely filled my taste buds with joy. I love the veggie crepe, curry wraps, thai shrimp, nutella banana crepe, and fresh fruit smoothies. I always try something different because I know I will be happy. Cons: Slow service all around. I also did not expect to eat a curry dish during my stay in Maui :) but what a nice surprise. we ordered tofu and chicken curries and everybody was super happy. our server was very nice! we came back the next day for a gluten free lime and sugar cane crepe for me. it was very good! I'm Polish and I make crapes almost every Saturday for breakfast and I get that paying more than few bucks for a crepe seems too much. But these were very nice crepes. And when on vacation, I'm willing to pay for a crepe, especially for a super tasty gluten-free one! my husband had a bacon/avocado one, and was very satisfied with it!!! Skip this place, full of tourists traps! They always make excuses about being out of things, they really try cutting corners, therefore cheat patrons big time! It's a dishonest place with dishonest business practices! I've been here a few times I usually wait to write a review, until I've been to the place more than once or a few times sometimes. That being said and based on other reviews. I ordered some crepes with egg, beacon and avocado but the server said they were completely out of avocados. I'm aware avocados have gone up in price. She said we haven't gone to Mana foods, which is literally across from them, she said I can give you more spinach. I thought wow, how can anyone compare that! With avocados! I mean for a very small item a crepe with just beacon and egg at $ 13.00 , it's ridiculous! After waiting long, as the kitchen staff is seen chit chatting , no cooking being done, I thought I should leave, then plate comes to the table after a long wait. I start eating and see the beacon is absolutely uncooked and not edible! Ugh, waitress not around for a long time, finally comes after a long while, so I let her know beacon isn't cooked right. So disappointed- this restaurant is notorious for slow service but I am willing to wait due to its yummy healthy food. But this morning arriving at 8:15 am for breakfast they told me I had to wait until they opened at 8:30- a mere 15 min which was no problem for me. I was happy to wait and asked if I could simply sit down as there is no place to sit down and wait on the street outside. But the manager shooed me away and insisted I had to leave until they were open which is a little ridiculous. I thought he was rude and had 0 aloha. Such a bummer on a place I have patronized for 18 years as a resident.
