When we pulled in, it was odd for a place in a resort city to have an empty parking lot at breakfast time . **Review:** As a family visiting from Texas, we were excited to try this restaurant based on its good reviews, but it turned out to be a huge disappointment. First off, you have to order your own food at the counter, which wasn't a big deal until I asked if the orange juice was freshly squeezed. The young cashier looked at me like I was crazy, which was off-putting. We ordered an omelette, a croissant sandwich, and one pancake. The pancake was cold, flat, and tasteless. The croissant sandwich was okay, but the ham was super greasy, so I ended up taking it out. To top it off, they served our food on plastic plates, which felt incredibly cheap. They even ran out of creamer for the coffee, which just added to the list of disappointments. Overall, I don't understand how this place has such good reviews. Our experience was far from enjoyable. Worst $35 spent, we went across the street to the Pancakery to get my daughter pancakes. read more

Nice place for breakfast. Has a coffee shop like atmosphere. We went there during our stay in the area. Unlike the restaurants close by where you are put on a waiting list, customers at Cafe Destin simply form a line and order at the counter. Even though the place was very busy, tables became available in no time. The staff was super friendly and did a fabulous job by cleaning up dirty tables immediately. For coffee we ordered mocha and cappuccino and for breakfast we ordered avocado toast, classic Benedict with bacon on side and original Belgian waffle. The service was quick and we got our order quickly. The smell and taste of food indicated that it was freshly made and we loved our breakfast. The food was tasty and delicious. Just passing through this area for a couple of days, needed a spot serving breakfast late since we had a late night getting in. SO glad we ended up here! Amazing coffee, super kind staff, food was delicious and came out so fast! Cafe Destin checked all of our boxes when eating somewhere new. Cleanliness and food quality are both priorities we require in a restaurant. Visiting Destin for the first time, it's hard to tell which restaurant is up to par. I'm surprised that this place is not already a five star...which it should be! As of today, we are setting the record straight for the world! We saw employees greeting and welcoming customers, cleaning tables, glass doors and emptying trash containers on the patio. And then, the food that followed was five star! We had an eggs benedict plate, a southern breakfast and followed up with a strawberry Nutella Belgian waffle. Everything was prepared by someone that knows what they are doing.... right down to the potato cubes which were perfectly crispy and not greasy. The coffee was hot and flavorful. To reiterate, the restaurant is basically new with very current beach feel furniture and this place is CLEAN..... unlike a very popular breakfast place across the street in a colorful shopping strip which we almost ate at.... glad we decided not to eat there and come across to this wonderful place. I ordered the 1st breakfast offering, eggs with Canadian Bacon and Gouda grits, and coffee. Coffee and food was brought to my table in short order. Food was very good. I loved the Gouda grits and Canadian bacon, even though it was served on a disposable dish. Coffee was strong which I like, but also bitter which I don't.
