    Blended Chocolate Chip Cookie

I was in need of an afternoon burst of energy, and I was not disappointed in my decision to stop by Cafe Diem! There is a lot of natural light, and a comfy seat to use while reading. The service was great, and the blended chocolate chip cookie was sweet and satisfying. It's located just a couple of miles off, I-35.

Shaken espresso with house-made brown sugar and oat milk

This place's drinks are huge. I got a medium and it came with 4 shots already. Haven't been able to find a coffee shop since moving here that I didn't have to pay extra for more espresso, so that was super cool. This place also has house-made brown sugar which I haven't seen anywhere else and I LOVE. The drink itself had an odd taste, not sure if it's the beans, the syrup, or possibly the brand of oat milk I wasn't vibing with, but I will be back anyways to try other stuff. The staff (red-haired cashier sorry I didn't catch your name) was extremely helpful and kind. I ordered a breakfast sandwich as well and it was 10/10. Came out super fast. My favorite thing was the coffee bar-top seating though. Cute decor and overall ambiance.

Coffee wasn't hot, or very much flavor. I ordered a Turkey sandwich that came with a single slice of turkey sandwich. Spent over $30. Pretty disappointed.

I was invited to meet a friend at this coffee shop and I had never been. I walked in and it felt family owned or a small business. It was warm and welcoming. I grabbed a table to wait for my friend and noticed that they are more than a coffee shop. They have a full breakfast option. I asked for a latte and it was made exactly how I wanted it. It was flavorful and the coffee not sour which means they have the right temperature on the water. The burrito was so big that I have yo call it a horse ! It had a great flavor with a kick but half the burrito was sufficient to keep full for most of the day. They also have muffins, pastries, pancakes, croissants and other items. The staff was very nice and pleasant to work with.

I have visited a handful of times and always had great service and good food. The atmosphere is relaxed you order at the counter and pay, they bring it to your table. Their French toast & pancakes are delicious, as well as the early riser sandwich. Really love this local cafe in Ankeny! A must try for sure!

First impressions:: Cute coffee shop with the coziness packaged right in. Walking in you find ample seating and a home-like feeling. Decor and layout give it a calm ambiance. No vegan specific drinks or food. I ordered a cup of their house coffee with almond milk and 2 shots of hazelnut syrup and oatmeal for breakfast. I advised of a milk allergy therefore to use only aLmond milk. My friend ordered a latte and oatmeal. $15.xx for the whole order. We were seated in a corner booth and minutes later our order arrived. My friend's order was great she said. My coffee tasted too watery and oatmeal was made of half and half cow milk. It was a simple mistake so my oatmeal was remade with almond milk- no charge. Thankful for that. Oatmeal tasted good. I couldn't finish my coffee or reorder it. Service was nice and I appreciated the customer service when my order was wrong with not problem. Menu is on large chalkboards and easy to read. I noticed drive up service available. Convenient. I like my first impression of Cafe Diem due to the service and the reputation they have among my friends. I will try them out again in the future. I recommend for great place to meet in Ankeny.

Nice chill atmosphere fast drinks. 2slice of french no sides if $9. Ordered cold brew smoothie breakfast sandwich and french toast. Order was little over $30. Cold brew was sour and bitter couldn't finish it. Smoothie was very basic taste like fruit, milk, ice. Food was very basic taste like food made in 1143 150th Ave Knoxville IOWA 50138 United States ed in middle school. Nice place to hang out menu is slightly over priced.

    Heavenly pancakes!

Cafe Diem is the best coffee shop in Ankeny. Their coffee selection is great and their breakfast selection is even better! My go-to coffee is a vanilla lavender latte. Phenomenal. And you've got to try ANY of their pancakes. They're huge, fluffy and delicious. And if you're cutting carbs and sugar, they've got you covered with a yummy keto scramble. Customer service and quality is always fantastic no matter how busy they are.

Everything was perfect! Breakfast portion were huge and everything tasted wonderful and was piping hot! I did a BYO Omelette & Latte. There are options for Gluten Free & Dairy Free for coffees and for the butter used in food. For the latte, they use 5 syrup pumps in a 16oz (much like the large coffee shops) i like two pumps so I always ask how many are used and reduce as needed. My 2 pump latte was very good! I will come back as often as I can when in the area! Come...enjoy! Lots of seating and great environment!

Mullets in Uptown Ankeny - Brunch Review…read more Well, we finally made it here for a meal! Brunch it was, and I am glad we did! Mullets in Uptown Ankeny is a relatively new business in the uptown area. They are right off of the High Trestle Trail and provide plenty of parking for cars and bikes. They have a very nice main bar on the first floor and ample comfortable seating at the bar and at tables. But they also have a full bar and expansive rooftop dining area. And on a day like the one we had, it was picture perfect! You can get to the roof by stairs or elevator! Big bonus. The rooftop has nice views of the downtown area, and plenty of seating in or out of the sun. We were seated quickly upon arrival and greeted by our waitress within minutes with ice waters. We quickly ordered Bloody Marys, which are a house recipe ($9). They are plain but flavorful. I like mine spicy, so I asked for Tabasco - the waitress had to go on an excursion but didn't give up until she got it for me! (Thank you!) We finally found the breakfast menu (not pictured), which is a ridiculously difficult thing to navigate, because my desire and my inclination was to just order one of everything! (I guess we will have to keep coming back). We finally narrowed it down to the Cinnamon Swirl Pancakes and the Eggs Benedict Flight. We were not disappointed. The Pancakes are among the best I have ever had! While the Eggs Benedict were delicious, they are almost impossible to eat without a sharp knife and an extra plate. Pro tip - if you get the Eggs Benedict Flight, ask for an extra plate - the delivery presentation is fun to look at but horrible to eat from.

My son was thrilled with his sprinkle donut, especially with the fun, non-standard colors like blue and green. My husband's apple fritter had a strong cinnamon flavor with bits of apple; it was a bit crunchier on the edges than we expected, but still delicious. We got an old fashioned for our one-year-old, and it was the perfect choice - not too sweet, nor sticky. The big surprise was the breakfast sausage sandwiches my husband and son ordered. The high-quality egg, sausage, and cheese on a fresh croissant were fantastic. I took a bite and was truly impressed, especially for the price... under $5 is very reasonable for the size. I was waffling over the Kona iced coffee, so a worker kindly gave me a sample. It was stronger, sweeter, and creamier than I expected, so I happily purchased a cup. The shop itself is small and can get a bit crowded, so it's probably not the best spot if you're planning to sit and eat inside. We will definitely be back the next time we're in Ankeny though. I can already imagine grabbing donuts and coffee to enjoy at the park with the kids once the weather warms up!

I'd genuinely love to know which local roasters they source their beans from. What stands out most is how smooth the coffee is--there's absolutely no bitter aftertaste. Their honey brown sugar latte deserves special recognition. So many honey lattes either taste overly artificial or like the honey is barely there at all. Not this one. The flavors are perfectly balanced, and it's honestly one of the best coffee drinks I've ever had. I could drink gallons of it. The quality is fantastic and I've found myself thinking about that latte long after I've finished it. My only complaint is that I don't live closer. If I did, I'd probably be there every day.
