Where do we begin? Let me stage the scene. Family of four. We have a 3 year old and a one year old. My wife and I have not gone out to a fine dining restaurant in over 6 months. You know how hard it is with a toddler and baby. But we also know the importance of bringing them. We were super excited to have an unbelievable steak dining experience. We were in Carmel for two nights and we researched this place to eat at. Upon arriving with our party of 6 everything was smooth. We put our order in and then what felt like over 90 minutes we were asked if we wanted our daughter's burger to come out first. Which we did. After some time there. The A5 Wagyu came out. The stone plate was pretty cool. As a matter of fact, our 3 year old had her first tasting experience with the A5. She absolutely loved it. And so did we! The actual timeline was sit down reservation at 6:15 and first A5 Wagyu to come out was 40 minutes later. Then a total of 90 minutes before our entrees came out. That was the time stamp on our food pics. Finally our order came out which was a porterhouse we ordered to split for two. It had the spinalus, and all the yummy with it! It was incredible. My friend ordered just the spinalus and said it was the best steak he's ever had. The food was definitely A+. What happened next brought the experience down to a 3 star. We paid for our deposit through the chase reserve portal using Tock prior to arriving for dinner. We opted to utilize our points since we saved way more by doing that. We paid a $300 deposit worth points. So in essence we should've received a bill with a minus $300 on it. When we received the bill, it did not have the $300 off from it. So I asked about it and they said they would take care of it. After a very long time, they came back and said they're trying to take care of it. After more time, one of the servers said to me, if I can pay the full price on the receipt and I will receive a refund in a couple of days. So we did. We didn't want to wait any longer. A couple of days later I sent an email and the owner responded with an email from that night that he was taking care of the situation. Apparently, Tock reservations that do not opt to accept points and cash deposits will have a hard time. And since Saltcraft accepts Tock reservations with only cash deposits, I was SOL. A couple days later I was refunded the points back to my account. The food was off the charts! We had a great time devouring the yummy in all those steaks! The servers and people taking care of us were super nice and seemed to care about our experience. Overall, we felt they could've addressed at the end with the time of order till the food came out with apologies. But there was no apologies. They just brought out the food. Then the amount of time not understanding what was going on with the bill. That could've been addressed. After writing an email to the owner, he apologized that their service wasn't timely. "I'm sorry that our leisurely service style for the meal and the lead time for our steak process wasn't a good fit for your family." That was his quote. We wish them good luck and no ill. Things happen and hopefully we all get better from it. read more

Best steak I've ever had! The steaks take 30-40 minutes to make so I recommend ordering them at the start of your meal, but it's worth it. They're seared with duck fat which gives it a great buttery taste, allowing you to taste the fatty flavor on cuts of meat that aren't the most fatty. The fries that go with each steak dish are also really good and go with the steaks. We had the cowgirl ribeye and spinellis steak. They were both good, I personally preferred the cowgirl ribeye since it had more fat. For the other portions of the meal, I really liked the sourdough bread they gave us. It tastes freshly made. The mushroom side that we ordered my husband really liked, but it wasn't my taste since it was a bit oily. The toffee bread pudding we didn't really like-it was too sweet, very small, and not very well presented. The cocktails we had were stellar. We had the paper plane, Rio de Janeiro, and Thai boxer. My favorite was the Rio de Janeiro; I was watching it being made and they squeeze fresh oranges into the drink. It was a good combination of orange juice and cream. The Thai boxer was good, although I did think it was a bit watery. The service was great and we had a lot of good recommendations from the staff. The restaurant had good ambiance and visually pleasing interior design. It's located in a shopping plaza with easily accessible parking as well. Note-if you come for your birthday or special occasion, they don't do anything extra like a dessert. read more

TLDR; 5 stars for food! 2 stars for service. The steaks were perfectly cooked and the appetizer was delicious. I got a ribeye and another cut of steak that were so well seasoned and tender. I also really enjoyed the service from the chef/bartender. We came a little earlier than our scheduled reservation time at 5:30, but we got seated by the chef/bartender right away. And he got us started with the menu while we waited for the waiters to arrive. The service from the waiters was horribly inconsistent and it kind of ruined my experience. When you're seated at a table, you get a wooden block that holds a knife and 2 forks. Shortly after we got our app and finished, the waiters came by and took away my gf's and my wooden block sets. They then set our cutlery on the table. I thought it was a little odd, but didn't think much of it until I saw other tables still had their wooden blocks throughout their whole meal. Then while we were waiting for our food, we heard a server tell the other table "our fryers are having some trouble today, so your steaks will be coming out a bit later, can we offer you some free bread?" We also ordered steaks and we got there maybe 11 minutes (max) after the other table assuming they came in right at 5 PM. We didn't get offered anything either even though we also ordered steaks. Then after we finished our steaks, my gf was still eating her fries, but they wanted to clear the dish while she was still eating. Came here for a nice meal with the family. The evening started off nice and welcoming. The service by our waitress and the bartender (Layla) was top notch. These two were very attentive and Layla went out of her way to make sure our kids were taken care of (5 stars for these two). However, the hostess and the food left something to be desired. We ordered the Delmonico, Filet Mignon and Ribeye along with a few starters and sides. The steaks were good but they did not have that "wow" factor. The ribeye was not cooked to the requested temperature (over cooked). When the hostess asked how everything was, I mentioned the ribeye being over cooked and she responded with "Thanks for the feedback." No offer to fire up a new steak or make it right. Basically, she didn't care, go pound sand. Unfortunately, for the price, there are better steakhouses out there. read more

Brought food that we could eat without the utensils). They said the steak would take 45 minutes, it took 75. Asked one waiter for the wine list, didn't bring it. For a casual steakhouse I was very much impressed. Daniella was an amazing server, she was very good at keeping us updated about our steaks during the cooking process and recommended a good Pinot that went well with my steak according to my taste. The steaks were cooked perfectly to how we wanted them, my girlfriend was even able to get hers medium rare plus so it was a pleasant center temperature between medium and medium rare. Be ready to wait sometime for your steak as they give them time to rise to temp and rest, but do order some of the appetizers to help mend the time. The steaks are worth the wait and I didn't want to stop eating it when they did arrive. Steakcraft is a gem of a steakhouse, and there's nothing else like it in Carmel. It mostly does one thing, and it does it REALLY WELL! Beef lovers, this is your mecca! To start, Steakcraft has incredible cocktails and I can not recommend them enough! Some are classic drinks done just right. Others are interesting and inventive. All were absolutely delicious. Our table of four ordered 5 or 6 different drinks between us and everyone raved about them. Next we got all three salads - the Caesar, Avocado Greens, and Butter Lettuce Blue. Between the goat cheese, micro greens, avocado, and Marcona almonds, the Avocado Greens was my favorite. The Butter Lettuce Blue was awesome too with generous amounts of bacon. The Caesar was fine, but was maybe a little underdressed for my taste and I felt the croutons were too hard (kudos for making them in house though). For sides we ordered the Brown Butter Creamed Cauliflower, Brussel Sprouts and Bacon, and Duck Fat Fries (these come with the steaks). The creamed cauliflower was unbelievably creamy and tasty and we all agreed we'd order it again. The Brussel Sprouts were great too, cooked well and accompanied by plenty of bacon. The duck fat fries are also awesome (I'd tried these before when having lunch at Breadsong). I strongly believe duck fat is superior to vegetable oils for both taste and health. Finally - the beef! We got a Full Wagyu Ribeye to share and a Wagyu Denver Steak (which we also shared). The steaks were just awesome - so full of flavor, melt-in-your-mouth tender, and completely unlike ordinary beef. The Ribeye was cooked perfectly and the table made short work of it. The Denver seemed underdone at first, but we had them toss it back on for another minute and this made a huge difference. I would recommend getting the Denver cooked fairly well. Everyone likes their steak cooked differently, but it really transformed from chewy to perfect once it had another minute on the grill. It's well-marbled and the flavor and texture both really benefit from a little more cook time. The desserts were fantastic and included the best cannoli I've ever had. The service was great. The staff were friendly, helpful, and attentive. There are a few little tweaks that could be made to the table-setting - The silverware and table linens are presented in a little wooden caddy which is nice, but we needed to ask for them to be removed once the food arrived because they take up a lot of table space. We also weren't given steak knives, although with this caliber of beef they're hardly necessary anyway, haha! I'm sure these small things will quickly be ironed out since we dined on one of the very first opening nights. The restaurant has very nice decor and a comfortable upscale ambience. The seating is comfortable and it's not too loud. Steakcraft is well worth a visit for its world-class steaks, delicious craft cocktails, and variety of delectable salads and sides. I can't. I truly do not understand this place's stellar reviews? We got here at 7 for our dinner reservations on a Friday evening and they already didn't have any of their Denver steaks. Ok fine. I'll do a ribeye, medium rare. What came out? A steak that was medium rare just in the middle slice and somehow well done the rest of the way through ...? Make it make sense. When your name is literally STEAKcraft, nail the temps. My partner ordered the filet medium and his came out mid rare, so the chefs know what a medium rare should look and feel like. Both steaks lacked seasoning. So I guess it's a good thing they always upsell their sauce flight. The only way you're going to get flavor on your steak. The Brussels sprouts were also oddly bland even though they were cooked with bacon. Someone finally came to check in on us after my partner had finished his steak and asked me about mine. Luckily, they comped my steak that was inedible. But we'll definitely never been back. We paid $200 for ONE steak and some drinks. Saving grace: their cocktails. Their drinks are amazing and a pretty decent price considering the rest of the cocktail bars on the peninsula. We tried 5 and all were amazing. There is no way that it should be this easy to get a reservation for 2 a couple of hours before 7PM on a Saturday night. This place should definitely be packed every weekend. Had the butter lettuce blue salad and the Denver steak. I'm not normally a butter lettuce guy, but because of what came with it, I gave it a shot. It still was slightly bitter to my taste, but it was good. We have a good chain steak restaurant in my town, so because steakhouses tend to be pricier, I am a very strict judge on meat. You have to really justify to me why I'm paying the prices I am for the meat. Well, this one justifies that cost. The Denver steak was one of the thickest steaks I've ever eaten and despite being advertised as a tougher cut that some of their others, it was easy to cut and perfect. One of the best steaks I've ever had. My wife had the Spinalis steak, which was not as big a cut as the Denver if you like large portions, but incredibly tender and flavorful. The service was top notch and the owner even felt she had to apologize to me when she was clearing our area and a fork accidentally felt to the floor, which was absolutely not her fault and no big deal to me. I apologized to her for not having the dexterity to catch it. My one complaint or suggestion to improve is that given the prices you are paying for everything else, refill the fountain drinks. I could have easily paid for a second Coke, but it just annoys me when places don't refill your drinks for free. I would absolutely splurge for this place again on our next trip to the area. read more

A few things that made our dinner unpleasant. One being a off putting smell to dining room. My grandparents owned a butcher shop and it smelled like the dining room. They need a pleasant fragrance to cover up beef smell. The second thing is that the dining room was absolutely freezing. I would not be exaggerating when I said that it was below 55° in there. I was absolutely freezing and so was the table next to us. We both mentioned it to our waitress and it stayed freezing our whole dinner. If you go here for dinner dress very warm. The food was good, enjoyed salad and bread. Our service was OK. It was a Wednesday night and she only had three tables and our service was just OK. When she dropped off our check she did not come back, I guess assuming we would pay check through app on our phone. My husband left phone at home. It took her a while to come back to table and get our card. It was annoying because she was just talking to the bartender and ignoring her tables. Our dinner took a long time, like over a half hour between courses, over 2.5 hours to eat dinner, we do not drink so we were not sipping wine. We came for a 30th birthday. The restaurant had a sewage smell to it unfortunately (not sure if that issue was resolved). We were under the assumption it was a fancy steakhouse but we were incredibly over dressed in a dress and heels. The food was alright but very expensive for what it was. Our waitress although very sweet messed up just about everyone's order and gave everyone the wrong item so we passed quite a few things around. I called when making the reservation to see if they do a little something for birthdays or if I should bring in something. They told me they did. The birthday guy got brought a cup of salt with a fun sparkler in it. The idea was cute but I was thinking a little dessert with a candle. That could have been my fault because I didn't clarify. Was a pleasant surprise . . . Nice small quaint resturant at the Crossroads. The menu has a nice selection of choices. Had the Japanese A5 Wagyu (By The Ounce), which was cooked on a stone at the table. Delicious . . . Side of mushrooms was also excellent. The bar had a nice selection of spirits and I had a Japanese Whiskey Highball, which was also very good. Service was very pleasant and attentive and the hostess was excellent. I was really disappointed with our experience at Steakcraft. I made a 7:15pm reservation for our birthday dinner many weeks in advance only to arrive with only two options to choose from for the steak. They only had the Delmonico and A4 available. We were not informed of the few options available until we had been there about 15 minutes and already ordered some drinks. When we went to order the steaks our waiter informed us there were only two options available. If we were told the moment we sat down we likely would not have had dinner there. They also didn't have one of the sauce flights I was looking forward to trying. How does a restaurant specializing in steak not have steak? Frustrated and of course hungry we went with the butter blue salad and the burrata bowl for appetizers. They were fair. The Delmonico was cooked perfectly but it wasn't the cut of meat we were hoping for. The service was strange as well as every waiter came to our table to ask us if we had ordered. This was after we had ordered of course and it was a little off putting to have someone come to our table every 5 minutes checking in. Lastly there was only one option available for dessert. The manager/bartender checked in at the end of the meal and we expressed our disappointment about how few options were available. She was kind and understanding and offered us a dessert on the house along with the fernet we ordered. While I appreciate the gesture it in no way made up for the overall disappointing experience. read more
