Amazing food - truly a gem! Highly recommend..well...everything. We've tried most of the menu and loved all of it.

I wanted to be happy about this dining experience. I love Caribbean/Caribbean inspired food. Unfortunately, they missed the mark. Every place had bad days and maybe I just caught them on a bad one but I was highly disappointed. While the better/server was polite, it took a very long time to be greeted and seated and to get food ordered and brought to the table. When it did, everything fried was super salty like a salt block salty. My rice barely had any salt or seasoning and my oxtails weren't very tender and the sauce tasted like out came out of a jar in the store. We were the only ones in there so I just don't know. One day I'll try again but it's gonna take me a minute. I felt like I got food catfished. read more

Another true Gem of Baton Rouge, this is the second location it's expanded from once on Nicholson drive near LSU and now it's nestled on Airline highway near the main strip. The service has always been spot on which makes me return on a consistent basis. The food is always FRESH and made to order so don't worry about getting old cold food. The decor makes you feel as though you are on the island getaway without leaving home. The bar produces so of the most beautiful drinks and they taste great. My favorites are the lamb chops that are cooked to perfection and the beef oxtails. When it comes to appetizers honey pepper chicken bites and the beef patties always call my name. The chef and and his family are loving and very inviting as if they invited you to their home for a delicious meal. I will return and hope to work my way through trying the entire menu. read more

Oh my goodness where do I begin!! So I only ordered because I dined in years ago when they were located on LSU campus off Nicholson Dr. and they literally rolled out the red carpet it was a great experience! But this visit was horrible, the bartender wasn't rude or necessarily welcoming but I wasn't focused on him I just wanted my food. Going in with high expectations I was completely let down especially after purchasing 4 meals to go. It was extremely over seasoned and the rice was gummy it wasn't good at all. The greens were super salty and my fish was hard. Everyone I purchased food for was dissatisfied a totally waste of money!! We threw it all away it was completely inedible. I'm so upset!! I went back to try the new location and the $25 Summertime menu. It was practically empty at lunchtime. We were greeted and seated immediately. The spot was clean and the server was friendly. We decided on the Jerk Eggrolls for the appetizer, jerk chicken with Mac and cheese and pork chop with cabbage. The jerk eggrolls were decent. I've had better in Baton Rouge. The entrees were awful!! The jerk chicken and pork chop were both drenched in a brown gravy. Taste just wasn't there! The Mac and cheese taste straight out of the box, horrible. The cabbage looked good but taste awful. I don't ever see myself recommending or returning. 2 stars are for friendly staff and clean establishment. The price was good for the amount of food $27 for 2. read more

I was glad to find a Caribbean restaurant in the area. The restaurant is neat and clean. Seating inside and outside. The lady at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. Nice music playing in the background. We ordered some beef patties to go. They came out fresh and hot. Very tasty and had a little spicy kick. This is my second time visiting this restaurant. The first time was at the old location near LSU. That was not a pleasant experience BUT I decided to give the place another try in the new location. The experience was better. Service was relatively prompt. The place looks nice and the food was pretty good. The unfortunate thing of it all is that they were mounting a television and painting wall swatches to vote on their renovation. I found that to be super intrusive and quite ill-timed. When you go that will be all over - I hope!! Overall a decent experience. Do I think this place will be added to my normal rotation? No. Might I visit again one day? Maybe read more

Being from the Caribbean I was feeling for a good Caribbean meal. The food was very tasty but I'm not sure I would say I felt like home when I ate. Service was great, wait was a tad longer than I would have hoped for but I wasn't dying. Bill was $80 probably more than I would have paid but I don't mind supporting. I ate at Bullfish Bisto for the first time today with a friend and my 5-year-old. I had the coconut shrimp (comes with 4, I ate one before the picture) for my appetizer and the shrimp pasta as my entree. The coconut shrimp were lightly battered and delicious, the sauce underneath with the peppers gave it a little sweet and spicy kick! My child had the chicken and waffles and really enjoyed it. My friend had oxtails with sweet potato soufflé. I tried one of her oxtails and it was tender and flavorful! We were the only table in the restaurant, it was around 1:30 PM, and the waitress, Liah, was very attentive and tried to answer all of our questions. She hadn't tried too many menu items, so some questions she wasn't able to answer. Liah was sweet and allowed my child to talk her ear off about the fish and sea creature decor in the restaurant. The restaurant is a nice size, has aquatic decor and televisions with ocean life on them, and they play Caribbean and Hispanic music that goes with the restaurant theme. The music is nice and not too loud. It wasn't my friend's first visit, she invited me to dine with her. I will definitely return. read more

If you're craving true Caribbean comfort food, this is definitely the spot. We were at a training across the street and initially went for Pimanyoli's but found they closed. With not enough time to look elsewhere, we gave Bullfish a shot and it DID NOT DISAPPOINT!! Honey chicken bites with peas and rice, YUMMY! Too bad I don't live near this restaurant. Very good food. Well at least what I enjoyed tonight. I ordered the ox tails with jasmine rice and seasoned greens. I added a side of fried sweet plantains with were a wonderful plus. Ordered online for a to-go order. I ordered the vegan jerk burger and collard greens. The greens were seasoned well. The burger was good and full of veggies versus just soy which I appreciate. It wasn't the best veggie burger I've had but it wasn't bad. I paid an up-charge for grilled onions and mushrooms; however, after getting home, I realized that they did not give me the mushrooms. The fries that come with the burger were well seasoned and crispy on the outside. My friend really enjoyed the Friday snow crab special. Still a solid restaurant choice! read more

What a hidden vegan gem! Their vegan menu was extensive and inclusive, amazing flavor with unique Caribbean options. We had the cauliflower tacos & the vegan jerk burger with a side of fries + plantains. All of it was delicious, and we can't wait to get back and try more of the menu! The atmosphere was fun, being in summer classes right now we haven't had much of a vacation but our drinks sure made us feel like we were on an island! The Irie was unbelievable! They could use some good advice on setting the proper atmosphere and ambience. I didn't really get the Jamaican feel that I expected. I have been to Jamaica a few times. I was actually going to another restaurant, and ran into this place. What a treat!!! It was my first time being and eating at a Caribbean restaurant. The atmosphere was nice, and a great vibe. It did take a few minutes to get seated, understood for a Saturday night. Once seated, it did take a while before we met our waitress. Nevertheless, she made up for it, she did explain the menu, and even went to the kitchen to get a few of the sauces to help me make the best choice for my meal. We went with the 3meat platter. OMG!!!! I HAVE NEVER TASTED A MEAL THAT WAS COOKED WITH SO MUCH LOVE. The ribs has a homemade barbecue sauce, and the meat was so tender, it fell off the bone. The chicken had a true smoke tasted, the best was the jerked pull pork. It was cooked to perfection. The corn pudding and the sweet potatoes soufflé were both amazing!!! Please understand I never step out of my comfort zone when it come to food, but I'm soooooo glad I did. This place is definitely in my top places to eat. I've heard about this place when it first opened and then more when the owners changed. I finally decided to stop by and give it a try after seeing their cocktail posted on a review. I'll start with that since I mentioned it. I got the Irie which looked nothing like the picture posted on the review but it was good but really sweet. You can tell the ratio from juice to alcohol is not portioned correctly. As I said don't get me wrong it was good but it's really sweet. The restaurant was kind of busy when I came in (safely of course) but our waitress was very prompt. I can't say the same for the table I saw walk out with no acknowledgement and the table next to us who had to track a server down to come help them. The wait time for drinks was also really slow and disorganized. I watched my cocktail I ordered go to another table bc the other waiter got to the bar first. The food also took some time to come out but we got an appetizer and that came out fast so we didn't grunt. I forgot to take a picture of our actual food but my hubs highly recommend the jerk chicken. It's about as close you will get to good jerk chicken while in Louisiana. Overall the restaurant isn't bad but they really need work on getting things out faster and making sure they touch base with tables promptly in my opinion. read more
