This place was amazing! We are so happy we tried it. Family owned and seemed very authentic. They had some dishes I hadn't seen at other Indian restaurants. The salad we ordered was delicious and had not tasted anything like it before. It also looks like they have a buffet during lunch, I may have to go check that out. Our waitress was really great at explaining the menu to us especially when they have some many options. Everything we ordered was delicious. Disappointing at best. We arrived on a Saturday at 1:00pm, hoping for a nice lunch. What we found was a buffet line, devoid of food, empty pans and one piece of charred inedible chicken. An inquiry prompted a lukewarm "coming". The concept of service seemed foreign to the young male staffers, who were more interested in their conversations, rather than their customers. Eventually, the chicken did arrive, dry, tough, barely edible. Handwritten notes pasted on the walls reminded us that the price for a spartan offering has been raised to $11.99. We wanted something cheap, quick, and delicious. So we were about to go to Chick Fil' A or Qdoba but then I decided to satisfy my cravings and look up an Indian Buffet... and I am oh so glad I did! The service: Not only were we warmly welcomed as soon as we walked through the door, we were quickly sat and asked about our drink order almost immediately. We were then shown the buffet and went for it! They would clear our dirty plates almost immediately and would refill our drinks as soon as they were empty which I really appreciated. The food: I got the Butter Chicken and let me tell you I have never really enjoyed butter chicken at the few Indian restaurants I've been to, this is the first one I've actually really enjoyed! I want some more now, just thinking about it. It wasn't too spicy but definitely still had a kick and I loved that. I loved the rice, the naan, everything! I got a couple other chicken dishes as well, I can't remember what they're called but I know everything I tasted I thoroughly enjoyed. The buffet was $9.99 per person which is a steal of a deal y'all! They have 22 items on the buffet and I wish I could try each one. My boyfriend LOVED this place which is rare as hell for him to say. He doesn't give good reviews easily, but this one was a home run for sure. The Atmosphere/Vibe: Loved the atmosphere, loved their decor and loved that it was clean and smelling delicious! There's a delightful energy in the room followed with Indian music that really sets the tone correctly. Overall: I had a wonderful experience, as did my boyfriend. The price was amazing, the service was phenomenal, the food was delicious and We are happy! We will definitely be making this our go to Indian restaurant from here on out and I am just so glad we didn't get fast food, my belly is full and I'm completely satisfied. I have been going to this restaurant for many years. Other Indian restaurants just don't do it for me. I brought my boyfriend there for his first time, and he was instantly hooked lol. Our favorites are the butter chicken, chicken malabar, chicken korma, veggie samosas and garlic naan. If you like onions and spice, ask for the onion chutney. It's so good. I put it on my samosas. What's nice about this restaurant is you can choose your level of spice, mild to extra hot. read more

This is one of the best Indian food restaurants we have ever eaten in. The food is authentically delicious with incredible spicing. The service and care they always take of us is heartwarming. Though we live in Portland, Oregon we always eat a tg Cafe Indua when we come to Seattle, making a special trip to Lynnwood just to dine with them. You will be delighted to be treated to this beautiful food. They have a lunch buffet from noon to three on Sundays and then open back up from 5pm to 9pm. A very wonderful place!! read more

My family dined at Cafe India last night to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday and we all left very happy.We hadn't been to Cafe India for quite some time. I won't let that happen again! I didn't realize how much we had missed this place, so I've decided to give it a review. It's in a freestanding building, not a strip center or mall, which is refreshing - and it is not fancy, but it is very clean, neat, and cozy. The service is friendly and attentive. We had two lovely young ladies that served us and made sure that everything was to our liking. Ordered some old favorites: veg, pakoras, veg. Samosas, tandoori chicken, lamb kebab, chickpea curry, chicken tikka masala, sag paneer and three Indian desserts. All amazing!!!! All portions were generous with tender meat and spiced exactly to the level we requested. The sauces are perfect, creamy and full of delectable Indian spices, all accompanied by buttery fluffy rice. The naan was fluffy , charred slightly around the edges and loaded with garlic ( we ordered the garlic naan) . It was a naan dream. The desserts are a must and a perfect exotic finish to dining. We ordered mango ice cream, kulfi, and kheer ( Indian rice pudding with almonds). This is not the latest Indian restaurant in town, but it is the best. I have dined at several of the others, and they do not compare . Indian cuisine is our favorite and I will keep returning to Cafe India. My main reason for dining out is to enjoy food that is well -prepared that I don't cook at home, not how many crystal chandeliers a place has, or if it is the current place to be seen. We decided to try it and were blown away by how good the food was! The building needs a little updating, but inside everything was clean. Service is excellent! Don't let the outside fool you. We dined in on Christmas night, hoping this would be a good pick. It was not. The servers seemed very young and inexperienced. Even though they seemed to speak good English they could not answer a single question we asked. They had no idea what alcohol they served and could not give us a drink menu. We ordered red wine, thst tasted like watered down grape juice. My class had lipstick stains on it, and the table cloth was stained and dirty. I could have looked past this all if the food was good... but it was not. We tried to ask about a few things on the menu and the server just looked confused. We ordered a lamb and chicken dish, they both tasted the same (although they appeared in the menu to come with different sauces) the chicken dish tasted like Campbell's soup. Yuck. Like anything else, Indian buffets are very hit or miss. Reading through other reviews it sounds like Café India isn't always consistent, but whenever I have been it has always been spot on and is pretty much the only Indian buffet I will frequent on the north side of Seattle. The buffet is a pretty decent size, with pakoras and samosas (both veggie), naan, generally 8 - 10 veggie items, and 2 - 4 meat items. The pakoras have always been hot and crispy and fresh. I always love the saag paneer, and really any of the veggie items I have tried have been good. The butter chicken is always delicious, as is the Tandoori chicken, and they generally have a meat curry of some sort that is also tasty. One thing to note is that the sauces here are not too runny / watery, which is something I see frequently at lower quality Indian buffets. For dessert they usually have both rice pudding and mango custard, and an Indian meal for me is never complete without a mango lassi (which is not included with the buffet) that they also make quite well! The building and décor is a bit dated, but the place still has a reasonable ambience, and it is fairly spacious. The buffet is less than $10 per person, which is extremely reasonable. The food is quite tasty and is always hot and fresh for a buffet. I tend to judge an Indian restaurant based on whether there are Indians actually eating there, and I consistently see Indians eating here. It isn't the best buffet in the Puget Sound area (Spice Route or Kastoori Grill probably get that distinction), but for the northern end this is probably as good as it gets. Perhaps one day I will even make it here for dinner, as I hear it is quite good. If I do I will write an update. read more

Pretty darn good for East Indian food outside the hub in the U-district of Seattle. They offer a really nice size lunch buffet but I find dinner to be better. Plenty of space if you have larger parties. Clean, affordable(at lunch) and tasty! Service is solid, my water could have used some more ice cubes after the 3rd refill but heck the bus-boy/gentleman was quick and cleared our plates fast and kept the water coming. For the novice, East Indian cooking uses different kinds of Curry, PLEASE DO NOT let this scare you. My wife luvs Indian food but usually can't handle the higher Scoville units, she just enjoys the curry's rich flavor. The last time we visited my wife and my Dad both thought things were a bit warmer than usual, we asked for mild, I noticed a possible new owner/manager in the kitchen that could mean the difference in heat index. Start with the Kuchucumber Salad or the Mulligatawny Soup. Naan is acceptable, Palak paneer and Chicken vindaloo were rich and creamy. Samosas and Pakoras were very good, and freshly fried in clean oil. Rice is an outstanding blend of cinnamon, star anise, and orange zest, nothing over powering just a nice accompaniment. Check out their website the have a coupon for Monday and Tuesday nights. But the cheaper offering is the lunch buffet. While my wife is a much bigger fan of Indian food than i, we were down from Anacortes in Lynwood for the day and decided to try Cafe India after a brief internet search. We were the only ones in the dining room the entire time we were there but were glad we came. My wife ordered Gobhi Patak, and I had Tandoori Shrimp Shashlik, and we shared an onion kutcha. In a word, everything was wonderful. My wife loved her spinach/cauliflower dish, and I would certainly order my Tandoori shrimp dish again--it was the most enjoyable Indian dish I've ever had. We also agreed that the onion kutcha was easily the best kutcha or naan that we'd ever had. On top of it all, the young lady who served us was particularly charming and attentive, and we considered ourselves very fortunate to essentially have her to ourselves. read more

I have been coming here for awhile now and I love their food very much! My Indian friend recommended this place because "the food is amazing"! I usually order chicken korma, vegetable pakoras and paneer nan! Every single time I ordered (about 50 times) it was always very tasty. When my husband and I order to go we always get a lot of food for the price. It is enough for 2 of us to eat for dinner and lunch next day. Their buffet is $10 and it's a killer deal! I love Indian food but the building and parking are in such bad shape that I drove past for many, many years. There were always cars in the lot (pre Covid) and the Yelp reviews looked good so I decided to give them a try today and I'm glad I did. The customer service was very good and the food was EXCELLENT!!! I'll definitely order take out again but I won't dine there or recommend that my friends dine there because the inside of the restaurant looks almost as bad as the outside. IMO the owners should remodel the restaurant or buy a food truck to attract more customers. read more
