This was an unexpected yes beyond amazing find when we did a search for "coffee" in Nashville. The website looked great so we stopped in and were blown away by the decor and ambiance. Such a pleasant atmosphere and bustling busy corner. We were seated by the window and got to enjoy amazing coffee, brunch, and dessert. Update: I have been coming here a lot since I live so close and even celebrated my daughter's birthday here. So this is an updated review. They're known for their pastries but today was unfortunately disappointing since their pastry cooler broke down and therefore we were unable to get any cakes with our dinner. I was reassured that the cooler should be operational soon though. We didn't order any drinks this time as my favorite drinks are no longer available since they've cut back from the over 1000 drinks they used to serve a while back. Other than that, the food quality and service was great as it always is. This is still a 5* review bcos a broken down case for a few days won't change how wonderful Cafe Intermezzo is. Rude staff. Humiliating experience. My daughter and I came to eat here after running in the St Jude's marathon. We were very hungry following the race. We purchased some coffee on our way there, which we carried with us when we were seated. The waitress approached us and looked horrified and told us that "she couldn't believe they had let us in there" with outside drinks as they also served coffee. I was more than a little surprised but quickly agreed to her suggestion to pour them into other cups which she'd provide. However, she never returned, and instead a manager or a chef approached us and told us we would have to leave and that it was a "Health code violation." I told him that we had agreed to put them in other cups and that we did not know they served coffee and we were there for lunch. He offered no alternative such as providing their own coffee for us to try instead or asking us to drink it outside and then come back in. He treated us as if we had committed the unpardonable sin by bringing in coffee which no one said anything about when we came in. My daughter and I were so excited to try this place, but the rude and arrogant staff completely ruined the experience for us. read more

We stopped by here on a weekend before a show at the Amphitheater & it turned out to be a great choice! Inside is a super cute cafe; they have a bar area and a to go counter and pastry/cake display. We opted to dine in and were seated right away. I got the Bruschetta ($9) to start. It was really good! Lots of great flavors and plenty of bread. And, although it's summer, I was soooo happy they still had a soup of the day & got the Red Pepper Gouda ($10) for my main. Loved this, too! The food came out pretty fast, as well, so I'm happy we ended up here before our show. Next time I'll have to try one of their old school cocktails! read more

Lots of character and charm, from the ceiling tile detail, wall art to the fresh cut flowers on each table, this is definitely a charming little breakfast stop. Located in the corner, they offer indoor seating and have large windows over looking both streets, ideal for people watching. They have a coffee bar and full service bar, we indulged in both and both were wonderful! Cocktails and coffee our brunch selections were delicious, cooked to perfection. I gave a 4 out of 5 ONLY because I'm sensitive to smells and there was a strange egg smell in the restaurant. If you're sensitive to smells, just be aware. I think this might be the best cafe I've ever been to. I felt like I was in a cute European cafe in the middle of Nashville, Tennessee. Cute, medium-sized place with outdoor seating and phenomenal food. You don't have to sit in and eat there, they have a bakery with so many desserts and pastries that you can take to-go or have right there with a side of coffee. We stopped in for breakfast here.. it was our favorite food that tried during our time in Nashville. The food was a 10/10, not overly filling but it was high-quality and just rightly proportioned. The only down-side was the wait time, it took around 40 minutes for them to seat us, but then again we came during a peak Sunday breakfast hour with no reservation. Café Intermezzo never disappoints! It is some of the best desserts you can find in town! It is a family run chain with locations in Atlanta and Nashville. It is one of my favorites in Nashville to get a dessert, wonderful dessert drinks, and a date with my handsome hubby. I have yet to try their dinner menu or crepes. Others in my party had omlettes, traditional American breakfast and avocado toast. All enjoyed their meals. Scrambled eggs were fresh and generous portions. The desert here gets a 5/5 but the service gets a 1/5. For the price and food quality, I really expected the staff to be helpful and kind. Boy was I wrong. We arrived for a late night desert trip around 8:45. We knew the place was set to close at 9pm and we wanted to be respectful of their timings. We didn't see anyone at the front so we made our way to the counter, where we saw a line of people ordering cake. We patiently stood in line for about 10 mins and when we made it to the front, we told the staff our orders and that we would like to sit down to eat. One staff member started yelling at us and telling us that in order to sit and eat, we needed to find the hostess. He added, however, that we only had 2 mins left to order our desert before closing. We couldn't even locate the hostess so didn't understand how we could be seated and order in 2 mins. Instead of finding the hostess, he just kept on getting louder and louder as he repeated the same sentence. Finally the hostess came by and got us seated. I explained the situation to her and we were promptly served. Everything went smoothly after this point and the cheesecake was incredible! However, for an upscale restaurant and a $14 (with tax and tip) piece of cake, I really expected better service than this. Coming and being served here was truly a bummer to my night. read more

The food was delectable and served in an elegant manner. I wished I remembered the server's name, but he had a cheerful attitude and made our experience worthwhile. Since it is in downtown Nashville, parking can be difficult in general. I parked at the Music City Center a few blocks down.
